For category goldsmith-artist the joint first prize went to Wu Chih Ching, a graduate of the Department of Crafts and Design at the National Taiwan University of Arts, and to Lionel Theodore Dean, pioneer of 3D printing of precious metals. To Marjke De Goey, Rietveld Academy, the first prize for best designer, but for the category «search and the quality craftsmanship» award went ex aequo to the Brazilian Julia Toledo, designer and creator of contemporary jewelery, and Catrie, École de Joaillerie Montréal. They are the winners of Artistar Contest 2015, organized by Artistar Jewels Exhibiton, which involved 200 creations of designers from around the world.
The jury was composed by Enzo Carbone, founder of Artistar Jewels, Gigi Mariani, artist and member of AGC, Carla Riccoboni, designers, and Barbara Uderzo, artist and designer. Jurors also decided to award special mentions. For category designer to Dario Scapitta, jewelery designer who attended the Academy of Brera in Milan, and to Jantine Kroeze, former Amsterdam’s School of Gold and Silversmiths. For the category Search and quality craftsmanship awards to Natalie Sevikian (International Institute of Gemology in Antwerp), Johnny Niños (New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University) and Laura Forte (Educational institution Irigem). And honorable mention out of competition at Brazilian designer Barbara Muller. F.G.
