Homage to art: Swarovski for spring-summer 2014 offers a collection dedicated to creators, from those of the avant-garde to ethnic cultural explorations. “In colors, shapes, materials and textures, art has always been a source of inspiration for designers, fashion creators”, according to Nathalie Colin, creative director of Swarovski. “The interactions between all these influences create a style of jewelry that is unique and universal, for all women, for a look from day to day”, she said on the occasion of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. “But now tradition and craftsmanship are combined with cutting-edge techniques. A marriage of cultures is conveyed this season by jewelry that focuses on tribal glam and monochrome blue, main themes of the new collection. Here are some pieces: the Airy necklace is part of the Tribal Glam line, inspired by African art and craftsmanship. But seen in a modern key. Yellow gold, silver-plated metals, gold, but also wood and leather. The Video pendant and Stone bracelets use rose gold, silver and black tones, highlighting the combination of the plating. The Arty pendant and earrings use crystal cut with precise pavé and Pointiage techniques. Afternoon clip earrings use natural pigments, to obtain intense primary colors, such as blue.
