The frontiers of technology can radically change the world of jewelry: there are already those who have designed virtual necklaces. The idea is from a group of Polish designers, under the name of Neclumi. “We expect that wearable projections and jewelry based on projections will become a reality in a few years”, we read on the website. In short, no gold, just light waves. The video you see shows four different models of luminous necklaces. They are produced by a small wearable projector, called a picoprojector. The design is able to respond to the movement of the body or to the surrounding sound or to the swaying caused by footsteps. The designer, Jakub Koźniewski, explains that for now the projector requires an HDMI cable, but that he is working on a stand-alone version (without cables) with a smaller projector. In short, at the moment to wear the necklace you have to be connected to a device, an aspect that does not make it very comfortable to carry around. Furthermore, the projector is the size of an iPhone. But the designers assure that the picoprojector is destined to become smaller and smaller. According to Koźniewski, the projector, which also has a gyroscope and accelerometer inside, could become a fashion item. The design team is currently looking for interested jewelry manufacturers. If you like the idea, come forward.
