The tradition of mosaic, and then of micromosaic, is ancient. But it requires considerable manual skill, which only those with long experience can understand and translate into work. Even more so when it comes to jewels, such as those proposed by Sicis, a company based in Ravenna, a city that preserves wonderful Byzantine mosaics in its churches.

The new collection that uses the micromosaic technique is called Etoile and, it could not be otherwise, reproduces five-pointed gold stars, elaborated in the colors and shades of blue and black. The tiles, infinitely small, are enameled, hand-made by art masters who combine them one by one together with precious stones. This premise is necessary to understand that the choice of Leo Pizzo to design and produce his own collections entirely in Valenza is to be emphasized.

The latest production is the Venezia collection. Leo Pizzo designed these jewels with his thoughts turned to the famous city on water.

There are different types of joy. They depend on the state of mind, on the personality and, not least, on the circumstances in which one finds oneself. The same cheerfulness cannot be manifested at a marriage that is lived at a party with friends, at the stroke of midnight on December 31st or on the day of graduation. Thus also the Allegra collection by de Grisogono adapts to the times and places.

Founded in 2003, the Allegra collection has adapted to different habits, fashions and lifestyles. However, it has always maintained its initial shape effect.

According to de Grisogono, the Allegra collection “embodies the woman who, from Cannes to Porto Cervo, from Saint-Moritz to New York, is a free spirit that shines with her audacity imbued with independence”. More likely, though, that these jewels are worn by a woman who loves a less exotic luxury, perhaps in Bari, Dortmund or Lyon. And maybe she works every day. Not surprisingly, in fact, in the various additions to the collection there is also a pendant supported by leather laces: definitely a sporty touch. Moreover, the collection has also reduced its weight and, consequently, the cost: it started with a spiral formed by nine gold wires, and subsequently introduced a seven-wire version and then a five-wire version, which fall to three in the pendant and now in a smaller version. From years, Carla Amorim, founder and designer of the Brazilian jewelry house, has dedicated part of her efforts to promoting religious faith. A religion that in Brazil often manifests itself in an open, Latin, public way.

The collection of the Sacred line, underlines the brand, celebrates one of the most important themes in the life of Carla Amorim: spirituality. They are jewels that have Christian religious icons at their center, such as scapulars (tags that remind the apron used by the monks during work to keep their cassock clean), bracelets and pendants with images and saints, rings and necklaces. And that, according to Carla Amorim’s conviction, “seem to protect the viewer with style and elegance”. In short, jewels with an amulet function. In perfect Latin American tradition there is a lot of gold, in the three colors, with baroque shapes and workings reminiscent of the architecture of some ancient altars or sacred vestments. The animalia or animalier collections are a jewelery classic. Perhaps because the first jewels worn by mankind were made with animal elements, such as teeth or bones. Or, perhaps, because the animal world continues to have a great fascination for humans. Leo Pizzo, an Italian jeweler based in Valenza, proposed new pieces from his Animalia collection to Baselworld.

In particular, the collection celebrates the snake, an emblem of seduction and renewal, as well as one of the most used symbols.

The snake is reproduced with different materials: rose gold and diamonds, white gold and diamonds, with sapphires, or with small emeralds. Snakes have one or more coils within which to wrap their fingers, neck or wrist. La Maison also offers coordinated pieces, such as the brooch to match the ring or to wear alone.
