The 5.3 million earrings

The six-faced emerald beaten by a pair of diamond earrings at Sotheby’s auction in New York ♦
The emerald Stotesbury, mounted on a ring with diamonds, designed by Harry Winston, was sold by Sotheby’s for $ 996,500, halfway through the starting estimate ($ 800,000 to $ 1.2 million). The colombian emerald from the unusual hexagonal cut, 34.40 carats, were part of an agreement involving the Hope diamond, which was signed 100 years ago between Cartier and hereditary Evalyn Walsh McLean. His intricate history, as well as his original form, had attracted attention to the auction held in New York.
The real big bang, instead, was done with a pair of earrings, with two 20-carat diamond, emerald cut, D, impeccable, sold at about $ 5.3 million, almost at the most of the initial estimate. With this contribution, Sotheby’s totalized totaled 29 million at Magnificent Jewels auction, with 85% of the sold lots. The earrings were bought by an anonymous Asian collector, who paid $ 131,481 per carat.

Lebole does talk bijoux

A phrase or a word in French for the collection «Parlez pour moi» by Lebole Jewels ♦
In a world that speaks English, the sweet French idiom is welcome. Not only because French is a language of Latin origin and, therefore, with the soft pronunciation. But also because the language of Brigitte Bardot and Jean-Paul Sartre, Marcel Proust and Sophie Marceau, to mix culture and entertainment, is so out of date as to be the ultimate in fashion. That’s why bjoux Lebole Jewels collection of Parlez pour moi are really different from usual.
The jewelry line consists of six coins made of gold and silver, colour black worked, mounted on bracelets, necklaces and earrings, each of which carries a sentence inscribed in French. Here they are: A toi ma (To you, my), Parlez pour moi (Talk to me), Ne m’oubliez pas (Do not forget me), Bonjour (Hello), Fidelité (Fidelity), Porte Bonheur (Good luck). The coins are made of gold and silver black, mounted on bracelets, necklaces and earrings, each of which bears a word or phrase. Prices: from € 75 (bracelets) to 100 euro (necklaces). The Fernando Jorge bouquet

The Bloom collection of Fernando Jorge: the color of the Brazilian nature warms London.
The heat of Rio de Janeiro in staid London: Fernando Jorge has not forgotten the colors and the exuberance of his country of origin (we talked about here). After studying in Sao Paulo, Fernando has been working for almost ten years as a designer for various brands of jewelry Brazilian before moving to London for the classic Master in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins. His first collection, in 2010, was successful and so he moved in the UK. But with the classic nostalgia that have the Brazilians (but actually almost all those who emigrate). And therefore the Bloom collection, which “explores the ephemeral nature of the botanical world, capturing the moment when its beauty and exuberance are revealed. From the simplicity of stems and sprouts to elaborate one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate icons of Brazilian nature”. A description that explains well what is the philosophy of this collection that is based on two elements: the compositional imagination, using stones as Amazonian flower petals, and the strong colors of tourmaline, topaz, amethyst, and so on. A garden that many wish they could cultivate. Margherita Donato

The Salvini’s rendezvous

Salvini launches Incontri collection. Here are images and price  ♦
The random encounters sometimes turn into love meetings, those that celebrate Valentine’s Day and then maybe go on for a long time. These Meetings with initial capital letter, are also those that have inspired Incontri, a new collection by Salvini. Incontri is a line of jewelry that is exactly half way, by price range, and that is why it will meet (it must be said) the public’s favor. The style prefers the line curves, with gold metal parts (white, yellow and pink) that intersect, as if to draw an alpha (α) letter.
The gold-setting is embellished with small diamonds, which sometimes surround, are set in pavé or are at the center of a halo-style setting, that is, with a diamond in the center and small diamonds around, to increase light reflection . The collection includes rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Indicative prices: a base ring, without profusion of diamonds, costs less than a thousand euro. For the ring with diamonds rises to about 1500 Euros, whilst the bracelets have a price of around 2,000 euros. The collier ranging from one thousand to € 2,000, depending on the amount of diamonds used.

The time of Suzanne Syz

A limited edition jewel-watch (only eight pieces) and the new amazing jewelry by Suzanne Syz ♦
It’s time to Suzanne Syz. Or, rather, it’s time for the first watch-jewel by Swiss designer, one of the most imaginative independent creative and innovative in recent years. Her Maison based in Geneva, in fact, presented Ben, a mechanical watch (not quartz) in a limited edition of eight pieces with different materials and colors.

The cover is laser cut encrusted with diamonds and has a quote by Benjamin Franklin engraved inside the cover: “You may delay, but time will not.” For the timepiece enthusiasts, here are the characteristics of the Ben clock: has a diameter of 42 millimeters, 10 millimeters thick, is made of white agate, onyx black, with 478 diamonds (1,70 carats), and uses titanium, pink or white gold.

The edition is limited in eight different colors. But, of course, the main activity of Suzanne Syz are the jewels, which never disappoint the fans. As the ring called Power to the Flower, with a re-enactment of the sixties. It is made of titanium and gold, with a Colombian emerald five spinels, a diamond fancy yellow, three diamonds cut roses. Or with earrings, this time in aluminum, which follow a meandering path and have small diamonds set on edge. Margherita Donato

A Liaison for Licia Mattioli

The Liaison collection by Mattioli: pink gold, diamonds and onyx for a passion that not goes out ♦
Licia Mattioli, who bravely founded the Turin-based company, is a passionate of art and often combines the collections of the Maison in individual works or artists. But the jewels are not only small works of craft or, sometimes, art. They mean even passion, sentiment, link. A Liaison, precisely as the name of the new collection presented at Baselworld by Mattioli.

They are not dangereuse the Liaison by the Piedmont brand: they are made of rose gold and precious stones. A geometric element, the jumper drilled, is the one that unites the jewelry on perpendicular axes, to form ringed meshes, chains, next gold, onyx and also using white diamonds. Three colors, in short, that form the basis on which they are made necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings. Lavinia Andorno

The roaring collection by Messika

High jewelery by Messika dedicated to women, the Twenties and to revolution of manners. And to the diamonds, of course ♦

Messika, a name that translates as diamonds. Valérie Messika, is the designer who in Paris continues her father’s tradition, most linked to the precious, brilliant, exclusive precious stone.
At Baselworld 2017, Messika presented a new exceptional collection of unique, fine jewelry, which she describes as “modern and emancipated, inspired by the irresistible charm of the festive Paris of the twenties.”
A period of history, the one from 1919 to 1929, the “Roaring Twenties,” which is also remembered for the changes culturally and socially, but also for the way of life, especially for women. “They mark the advent of modernity,” says Valerie.
Isadora
The jewels line has so called to tribute to a woman who has marked the time. As Isadora Duncan, the dancer and choreographer who invented modern dance. She has dedicated to her an extraordinary necklace, which required 600 hours of work for the construction. It is composed of 139 diamonds with pear cut for over 42 carats. The Isadora necklace is accompanied by a cuff, with a cascade of increasingly pear cut diamonds for 13.50 carats, and asymmetrical earrings.
Ritzy
At the Hotel Ritz in the Place Vendome they stopped all the greats of the last century. Its rooms overlook the most crowded square of the biggest names in jewelry. Not only: the word ritzy in English means elegant, glamorous, and derives from the atmosphere that is breathed in the hotel. Elegant as Ritzy line by Messika: a necklace with 89 diamonds, this time with emerald cut, which looks as a round neck with tie. And then earrings, and a toi & moi ring.
Swinging Paris
The Swing is not just a musical rhythm, but also that of the Roaring Twenties. Messika remembers them with a cascade of 127 diamonds oval cut and others 2,407 diamonds gathered on a necklace. The realization of this piece of fine jewelry has required more than 1,200 hours of work, even for the accuracy with which they were chosen stones. The largest, mounted as a pendant, it has a weight of 3.26 carats. The mount is almost invisible, a truly outstanding job. The set consists also a toi & moi ring, always with oval cut diamonds, and a pair of asymmetrical earrings, even those with oval diamonds.
Flappers
The line has a chocker and a pair of earrings with a very Art Deco design with well marked geometric lines. The diamond necklace with diamond and emerald cut that alternate in a play of light that brings out a central stone: an emerald-cut diamond 2.06 carat (EVS1) faceted. By the way, flapper is a term indicating the generation of young women in their early twenties began to wear shorter skirts, hold bobbed hair, listen to jazz music and to question the conventions.
Madeleine
Madeleine Vionnet was a French fashion designer, creator of one of the most prestigious haute couture houses all of France. Messika dedicates to her a series of jewelry, starting from the necklace composed of 446 (four hundred forty-six) marquise diamonds, ending with a bigger stone pear cut 4 carats. The series is defined as a foulard of diamonds, but it is a simplistic description. In this line also belong a earcuff, a bracelet and a double ring, always with marquise diamonds.
Roaring Diamonds
Roaring Twenties is a phrase used to indicate the decade that has revolutionized the costume. And this gave the cue to the Maison for congegnare a necklace with diamonds pear cut, but with the tip pointing downwards, next to marquise cut diamonds. Different sizes of diamonds are together with a very dynamic effect, not easy to achieve. Of this range also includes a pair of earrings and a bracelet. Margherita Donato

Isabella marries Recarlo

The collection Isabella by Recarlo: diamond rings for engagement, wedding or anniversary, pendant and earrings
Isabella marries Recarlo. But it’s not a young promise of marriage. Isabella is the name of the collection of the Valenza company which is dedicated, in particular, to wedding, engagement, anniversaries. In short, this is the classic gem with brilliant cut diamond solitaire or trilogy. The ring, in this case, has been revisited in the form: the stem is crossed by three tiny grooves in the vicinity of diamonds and a wave form that makes it seem soft metal. But the collection also includes earrings and necklace with pendant.
Another feature is the ability to choose from two different colors for the gold: white, pink, or together in combination. We mentioned trilogy. But, in reality, there is also a ring with five diamonds rivière in succession, for those who love to abound. The price obviously depends primarily on the number of gems on the jewel. In principle, prices ranging from € 1,400 for a ring with a single diamond, up to € 7,000 for one with five stones. Lavinia Andorno

On the wings of Sutra

The new Signature line by Sutra and the Feather collection: high quality jewelry, but relatively more affordable ♦
Sutra is a word that in the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, means “collection of sacred verses.” But, more then a spiritual significance, Sutra is also a great Maison of jewelery. Born in Mumbai, India, it is transmigrated in the US, but continues to work gems and jewels in the country of origin. The designer Arpita Navlakha, in any case, more than the etymological origin of the name, mind creating rich jewels, filled with high quality gemstones, with pieces of fine jewelry and necklaces that exceed one million dollars.
Jewels that hit the sign and evoke wonder. But they are not for everyone. So at Baselworld 2017 Sutra has introduced a new line, Sutra Signature, which combines a high quality jewelry at the most relatively affordable prices. The Flexibile Feather collection, for example, is placed in this price range: as its name indicates, presenting jewelry in the shape of gold feathers and small diamonds. They are always jewelry with great complexity of realization, but in a lower cost range. A pair of earrings, for example, costs 7000 US dollars, while the necklace comes in at $ 40,000. It’s much, in front of a lot of fine jewelry, but little when you consider the setting. The necklace, for example, is made up of 15 carat diamond. The jewelry is available in white gold, black, pink or yellow.

Bluespirit floral

The Flowers line with chocker rings signed by Bluespirit. Pictures and prices ♦
Flowers and spring: what other combination may be more appropriate? The flowers, on the other hand, are one of the most used models for jewelry. The flowers of Bluespirit collection, brand of Morellato Group, however, are more flowers than others. Because the line of jewelry that is called, precisely, Flowers, faithfully reproduce petals, stem and leaves, using enamel and zirconia white or colored crystals. They are not the kind of jewels that you close in the safe: they cost from a minimum of 43 to a maximum of 59 euro. The Flowers line is minimal: it is composed also by only three models: ring, earrings and chocker. The effect is quite natural, with a color stain does not go unnoticed. G.N.

Carrera y Carrera Taoist

Carrera y Carrera uses the sign of the Tao for the Aqua collection.
The Tao is the Way or the Path, and it is one of the main concepts of the history of Chinese thought, which is at base of Taoism. Now it is also a main road where is walking Carrera y Carrera, the Spanish jewelery company that perhaps more than any other embodies the warm tradition combined with the Iberian creativity. The collection Aqua, in fact, existed for some time.

But Carrera y Carrera has decided to infuse a more philosophical spirit although, in truth, the symbol of the Tao, which synthesizes the opposites (good and evil, black and white, man and woman, etc.), is regarded as a talisman, instead that an icon that can deserve existential reflections. What’s more, according to communicating with (irony? maybe) the Maison, the jewelry “give a powerful symbolic and a large flow of energy to its owner.” Since in the era of iPhone it’s not necessary to imagine that the jewels are arising from the world of Harry Potter, you can also appreciate these pieces in yellow gold with onyx and mother of pearl with diamonds, with many variations of gemstones also without magic powers. And maybe that’s the real magic. Lavinia Andorno

La Dolce Vita by Officina Bernardi

The Moon spheres by Officina Bernardi run also for Mother’s Day with Vita collection.
Officina Bernardi in view to Mother’s Day focuses on a theme collection: Vita. Maternal love first, then, but there is no reason to not extend the concept to a couple love. A galvanic treatment translates the silver in different colors: white rhodium, white and pink, white and yellow, white and black. With a form, in short, you get multiple variants. As they know the Gioiellis.com readers, Officina Bernardi is characterized by the use of the Moon little balls, small sphere in gold or silver, with a moon facet-shaped, thanks to its chiselling, it gives an excellent brightness to jewelry. The collection has a distinctive shaped pendant ring inserted Moon balls. The pendant has an opening in the shape of heart. Giulia Netrese

Pasquale Bruni in black

New jewelry added to the endless fable of Bon Ton collection by Pasquale Bruni.
How you can renew a collection? In the case of Bon Ton line of Pasquale Bruni the answer is not there. Because the House of Valenza, one of the major brands of Italian high jewelery, manages to propose a shape that has become a classic of classics, an icon, a logo or, if you prefer, a recognizable sign of belonging to a club: flower five rounded petals, symbol of the company, with an endless array of variations.

Every time the jewel that is added to the collection takes on a different character, although always on the same wave length determined by designer Eugenia Bruni. Among VicenzaOro and Baselworld, so here’s the other pieces added to those chalcedony, quartz and peridot. New entries are baptized Ton Jolì line, and are ring, earrings, necklaces and brooches in pink gold, onyx, white diamonds and champagne. The pendants can be worn for long sautoir or crew neck. The classic flower can also be combined with a velvet headband noir and become a chocker a bit Twenties. Always the classic design of the Maison is also utilized for a necklace in pink gold with pink chalcedony, milky quartz, rose quartz and white diamonds. The story continues. Giulia Netrese

Hemmerle still amazes

Hemmerle still amazes at Tefaf: the refined combinations of Egyptian earrings, bracelets, aluminum and precious stones.
Innovation, courage, imagination. What other definition is lacking to describe Hemmerle? Paradoxically a: tradition. It sounds really strange that one of the maison’s creative Maison in the world, to the limits of recklessness, is also the fruit of a centuries-old history. Hemmerle was born in Monaco of Bavaria in 1893. In this year Japan decided to adopt the Gregorian calendar, Rudolf Diesel patented the type of engine that bears his name, and died the writer Guy de Maupassant. In short, in another era.

Two years later the company was already working for Ludwig III of Bavaria, and the imprinting of working on unique pieces, imaginative, unusual, is perhaps the feature that has preserved better. The descendant of the race of goldsmiths elite, Christian Hemmerle, now leads with his wife Yasmin the company famous for its refined creations, such as those who showed during the Tefaf in Maastricht (in a stand designed by the Dutch architect Tom Postma). It’s high jewelry, unusual, where wonderful sapphires can be mounted on an aluminum set, a brown diamond is accompanied with the humble copper, or with earrings in ancient Egyptian style. Piegonda to sea and to land with the silver Foedus collection: pictures and prices.
In his third life the brand from Vicenza, Piegonda, passed under the Bros Manifatture flag, has come back with a series of collections that trace the history of the company, from a design point of view, but of course with a new look. About the name: in ancient Rome pointed to an alliance treaty with other city-states. In this case, however, it is used for silver ropes that are woven in a blend of textures. Through the technique of casting the mesh nodes from forming different textures they are interwoven with each other. But according Piegonda the collection tells of the bond between the land and the sea. Prices: a silver necklace from 595 to 980 euro, the bracelets from 290 to 590 euro, earrings from 94 to 138 euros, while the ring is 98 euro. Margherita Donato

Mattioli shining

The new crackling fireworks by Mattioli, with rings and earrings.
The fireworks do not erupt only once. Indeed, they are a sight which like to see again. So it’s no surprise that Mattioli, a year from onset (we talked about here), renews Fireworks collection. The designer and entrepreneur Licia Mattioli still uses the technique that combines the pavé with larger stones placed at the center of the rings to make the sparkling jewel. But the Maison from Turin loves pull over their collections to paintings by great artists, and this time the color reference is to the “pointillist” Georges Seurat (1859- 1891), master in turning in figures of people or landscapes paintings constructed with a patient juxtaposition of small touches of color. It also is the idea behind the pavé, which in this case are made of morganite and tourmaline, blacks diamonds, aquamarine. To the rings, also, they are earrings made with the same technique. The debut of the new pieces of the Fireworks collection was set for Baselworld 2017. Giulia Netrese

The new Fuseau by Vhernier

By Vhernier, a springtime with Fuseau made in titanium and diamonds.
Fuseau is a French word which means spindle, stretched. But it is also the name of a collection of the most iconic by Vhernier, Italian brand of jewelry that focuses on two factors: a unique design and refined materials. This does not necessarily mean stones from the mammoth size but refined combinations, painstaking workmanship, laboratory research. As in the case of collection Fuseau, in fact. It proposed in recent years in different versions, for example gold, mother of pearl, smoky quartz or jade and rock crystal, and reappears in 2017 with a new look. This time, the material used is titanium: a light metal element, resistant, stainless steel. But also very difficult to work. Even more if on the titanium surface are set smaller diamonds that make up a small galaxy. As in the best traditions of the House, the diamond lines, which at first glance seem random, they are actually carefully studied. These small stones also are of the best quality and are tapered on the form of the classic Fuseau ring, which is slightly oblique to stay in line with the shape of the hand, or of three pairs of earrings. In addition to titanium gray version, they add pendants in pink and blue. But this is not the only novelty of Vhernier for 2017 (we’ll talk about soon).

Lebole between Gothic and Romance

Gothic, but romantic: skulls and shamrocks, butterflies and crosses in the new Lebole Gioielli line.
Barbara Lebole, owner together her mother Nicoletta of jewelry brand that bears their name, for years he collects skulls. At home she has several but her children, she says, aren’t impress at all. It is therefore with a light heart that the small Tuscan Maison presented the Gotico Romantico, where also appear stylized skulls. Although the dark atmosphere is balanced by signs less gloomy: there are the skulls, all right, but also butterflies, crosses and shamrocks. Dominant colors, not surprisingly, are black and gold.

The style recalls the nineteenth century passion for stories of ghosts and vampires, and probably will find a warm welcome from the passionate of the Twilight series and the like. Silver, worked with a special galvanic subtraction, which alternates shiny areas of the opaque metal embroidery, black natural stone, until the components used to make pairs of earrings, all asymmetric, choker necklaces and velvet.

Giovanni Raspini blooms

Fiori d’Alba: a new collection by silver jewelry designer Giovanni Raspini.
Spheres that resemble those white balls sprouting in the meadows, with a corolla that is lost when you blow (in fact they are the fruit of the plant). The new jewels of Giovanni Raspini are inspired a bit to these symbols of spring. The Florentine brand specializing in silver production proposes Fiore d’Alba, a collection that revolves around the sphere geometry. But with a process that reminds, in fact, the dandelion flower, which produces the strange plant form. The jewels are burnished and bring to the surface an intense work, in which even small flowers are defined. The collection consists of a necklace, two bracelets, three earrings and two rings. Price: the necklace 470 euro , bracelet 560 euro, the ring 190 euro, earrings 150 euro. Lavinia Andorno
