The celebrations for the 65-year-old Fawaz Gruosi, founder of de Grisogono, have been notable. Smart set, music and celebrity like Gloria Gaynor. But it was also the occasion to present new jewels. Starting from a sumptuous bracelet, consisting of 272 emeralds and 764 sapphires, on black rhodium plated gold of about 113.55 carats. Another outstanding piece is an emerald and diamond ring surrounding a central stone, an emerald cut of 8.40 carats, supported by four griffes decorated with serti neige technique. The body of the ring is wrapped in 22 emerald navette cut (approximately 8.27 carats), which add to the 17 diamonds navette cut (about 5.49 carats), 120 small white diamonds and 219 emeralds. The third piece presented at Porto Cervo by de Grisogono is earrings with diamonds, bordered by a stretch of emeralds. The geometric game consists of a weave of curves. The earrings are 18ct white gold and titanium. They have 91 baguette cut diamonds (about 11.47 carats), 749 white diamonds (about 28.26 carats), 2.062 small emeralds (about 2.10 carats). Michelle Fantaci was chosen by Gemfields, together with 16 other designers, to create a collection of 75 pieces, of course with the precious stones of the Mozambique extracted from the mining giant. It is an important acknowledgment that Michelle has translated into a series of pendants, such as a key with emeralds or the horn of luck, in the classic tradition still alive in southern Italy.
Michelle Fantaci was born in New York, but studied goldsmiths in Florence. At age 15 she designed her early jewels and refined her expertise at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. In 2007 she launched her first collection. Her jewels are the fruit, she says, of a long study, which begins with the drawing of a lot of sketches. She uses 14 and 18 carat gold, in addition to classic gems, starting with diamonds. She loves small jewels to wear all together. She is a supporter of minority civil rights and does not like being too diplomatic in expressing her ideas: “Love plus knowledge and action is the antidote to hate and ignorance #fucktrump” she wrote on her profile. For the summer of 2017, the American brand launched a new collection of natural stones and collaborated with Gemfields. Sicis’s micro mosaic is made in Ravenna, a city that houses some of the most famous Romanesque mosaics in the world. It’s not a casuality. Virtuosism in the realization of these micro mosaics manifests itself from time to time in the creation of fancy jewelery, where the merit is not only in the materials used, but also in the difficult to applying the technique to the high jewelery. After a series of animal-inspired jewels, now is a plant, the oldest in the world: the fern, which dates back some 350 million years ago. It is made up of hundreds of hand-laid worked micro-tiles, which form the leaves: a special spinning and cutting technique makes it possible to obtain shades of several colors a single splinter. On these soft shapes are cut emeralds drops-cut.
The ring consists of three leafs in micro mosaic encased in white gold with brilliant cut diamonds paved and a columbian emerald drop. Each earring is made up of six different sized micro mosaic leaves, white gold, diamond pavers and emerald brilliant cut, plus two emerald droplets. Cosimo Muzzano

She is called Giuditta Ambrosini. A very Italian name but not very exotic. Perhaps for this she felt the desire to turn it as the silver she uses for her jewels. This is how the Bjanca Judith brand is born: a way to express the creativity of the young designer of Verona, who has a degree in Visual Arts and Entertainment, specialization in Design and Production of Visual Arts at Iuav in Venice, and an intensive Jewel design at Lao in Florence. Not only that: Giuditta is a girl with many resources. She is also a photographer, videomaker and artist, with participation in various exhibitions.
Having said this, Bjanca Judith’s jewels have the merit of costing not too much, but at the same time showing a unique shape. They are jewels that have a signature in their own volume. A minimal jewel, describes still the designer, made always with a crafted work: “I personally work myself, from design to finish, file work, calibrating, milling and polishing machine”, she said. Prices: for bigger pieces, do not exceed 200 euros. A curiosity: prices are often different for the same jewel, with a minimum and a maximum tied to jewel measurements (eg a bracelet may be more or less wide) and, of course, the weight of the metal used. Assuming not to put yourself in the shoes of Maria Antonietta (finished on the guillotine) it is legitimate to put yourself in the shoes of a queen if you can wear the new pieces of high jewelery signed by Dior. The Versailles Palace was the center of last year’s collection designed by Maison’s artistic director, Victoire de Castellane. Having seen success, the designer remains in the neighborhood with the Dior à Versailles collection, Côté Jardins. In short, the great garden of the palace, itself a masterpiece, is transfigured into rings, necklaces, earrings, and even jewelry-watches.
As you can expect from a garden and as you can expect from Victoire de Castellane, the collection is a triumph of colors, stones, shapes that tend to remember the rococo but without the frills of the French eighteenth-century baroque. But the richness of compositions, which often recall the bouquets of flowers, is astonishing. An example: the Bosquet de la Salle de Bal Rubis bracelet is made of diamonds, rock crystal, emeralds, rubies, pink sapphires, mandarin garnets, blue sapphires, garnets, tsavorites, yellow diamonds, purple and yellow sapphires, spessartites, and lacquer.
The result would been loved by André Le Nôtre, landscape architect who in the 18th century conceived the garden of Versailles, one of the most admired in the world.

In 2001, Gianmaria Buccellati launched the first jewel-watch collection in Geneva. In 2017, Buccellati has not yet changed its mind and proposes ever-new jewel-watches. He is the manager of the company with his wife Sylveli, while the fourth generation, with Christian and Yasmin Hemmerle, is responsible for managing product design and development. The new jewelry Giulia Barela, among bronze and colored glazes, is inspired by the Amalfi Coast and the Salento.
Golden bronze more the colored glazes opaque and transparent. It is based on these two elements the SS2017 collection by Giulia Barela. The Roman designer is focused on liveliness, with marinara inspiration: “I decided to add color glazes to some new models of my jewels thinking about a cheerful woman, who loves nature and, above all, smiling self. Collections in Africa Air and I was inspired by the green of the Salento sea, the blue sky of the Amalfi Coast, the pink and red sunsets that prelude to the beautiful summer days, “says the designer. “The effect that results is that of the mosaic. A theme that was on my mind for some time because the mosaics are part of the DNA of Italian art through the ages, from ancient Rome to those of Ravenna, up to reproductions of small items in the period of the Grand Tour. I really love the color breakdown in painting and the artists who have used this technique: Seurat, Signac, besides Italians Boccioni and Balla.”
For some new models of the two collections Giulia Barela has used green opaque glaze, blue and pink-red in various shades of each color, filling in the blanks of the jewel, so remembering the stained-glass windows of cathedrals. In the Air collection are Air Hoop earrings, the whole movement of Libra earrings, ring, pendant and earrings hanging cloud, the spinning ring. In Africa Collection debut earrings Drop and Coin and Shield ring.
There are also collections Indian Leaves and Obladì Oblada, characterized by the effect texture of the material, with transparent glazes applied with brushstrokes read. The colors are green greenery, shade Pantone 2017, the blue and the red. Giulia Netrese

Universe, the new amazing collection by Nikos Koulis ♦ ︎
At Las Vegas Couture, he was been rewarded for two years in a row. In 2017, however, the jury considered that it was also the case to reward other designers. Yet Nikos Koulis is one of those who has amazed (a rare thing) enthusiasts and buyers at the Las Vegas Fair. Its new Universe collection, available since September, has really left many visitors with open mouth. For two reasons: along with a simple, refined, highly geometric style with art deco echoes, the Greek designer combined an uncommon technique. With a particular on all: the use of a translucent enamel, which appears opaque white, or transparent, depending on the angle you look at the jewel.
The earrings are perfect white gold rims, with a thin diamond rim. At the center, there is an element, always in diamonds, which can be used separately. In essence, it’s like having two pairs of earrings in one: you can wear a maxi version, or just the core. The same technique with translucent enamel has been used for other earrings or ring.
