The Golden Oasis high jewelery collection by Piaget: here is the Native Bloom line ♦

The third line of Piaget’s Golden Oasis high jewelry collection, which follows Play of Lights and Desert Minerals, was named Native Bloom. Also in this case the reference is the nature, in its colors and with its textures, from the desert flora that manages to withstand a difficult environment. Wild flowers and plants with their unusual shapes and colors are the inspiration for the vivid Native Bloom creations and their precious stones.

Part of this collection is the Luxuriant Oasis line, which alludes to the green brackets that are surprisingly found in the desert. The green, in this case, is that of emeralds: the search for the right stones to create the leaves of Luxuriant Oasis jewels took over a year. The intense color and purity of these high quality emeralds make them extremely rare.
Luxuriant Oasis Earrings, 18K platinum earrings set with 2 pear-shaped diamonds (approx. 1.54 ct and 1.50 ct), 58 marquise-cut emeralds (approx. 12.86 cts) and 20 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 0.56 ct)

In particular, the Luxuriant Oasis necklace is characterized by rows of delicate marquise-cut emeralds that represent the lush leaves of the oasis. The subtle curved design echoes the sinuous banks of a river and culminates with a brilliant cut diamond of 3.01 carats. The marquise-cut stones look just like leaves and imitate their movement. The jewel is elegantly transformed with the teardrop diamond, which can be removed and worn alone on a white gold chain. To obtain the ellipse that gives shape to the necklace, with its tapered cone-shaped points and its 55 facets, it is necessary to start from a large gem. The light starts from the center and then widens towards the ends, giving the gem a unique splendor deeply loved by Piaget that has made this cut one of the characteristics of the Maison.
Luxuriant Oasis Ring, 18K platinum ring set with 1 pear-shaped diamond (approx. 2.26 cts),11 marquise-cut emeralds (approx. 1.16 ct) and 53 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 0.39 ct)

The Vegetal Laces manchette earring is made up of diamonds alternated with green emeralds in a design that recalls natural shapes. The earring in 18K white gold shines thanks to a 1.45 carat drop-shaped Colombia emerald and the surrounding gems, which took more than a year to research. This creation emits an intense green shade that is reminiscent of agave plants that dot the desert landscape and become a symbol of the power of life.

Piaget among the Desert Minerals

Desert Minerals, the high jewelry line that is part of Piaget’s Golden Oasis collection ♦

Nature is often contradictory. The night alternates the day, the sun disappears with clouds and in the desert water can be found. Piaget’s Golden Oasis fine jewelry collection transposes this concept through its three lines Play of Lights, Desert Minerals and Native Bloom.

On this page we talk about Desert Minerals, which “celebrates the purity of wild life represented through a palette of intense colors, spectacular designs and complex shapes”. Pure, colorful, dazzling minerals. But a desert in which, surprisingly, there is a source. No coincidence that the collection is called Golden Oasis, the places where water is in the desert. In this case, precious water, in the form of a waterfall in the jewels that are called Blue Waterfall. The prince of this oasis in the oasis is the blue sapphire, as opposed to the purity of diamonds, which recalls the reflection of water drops.

Blue Waterfall Necklace, 18K white gold necklace set with 1 cushion-cut blue sapphire from Madagascar (approx. 14.61 cts), 33 marquise-cut blue sapphires (approx. 9.02 cts),170 round-cut blue sapphires (approx. 21.25 cts), 21 marquise-cut diamonds (approx. 3.65 cts) and 61 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 6.61 cts). The highlight of Blue Waterfall is the 18 carat white gold necklace with a blue coussin cut sapphire of 14.61 carats. This sapphire was described by Piaget’s gemologist as “the most beautiful Madagascar sapphire I’ve ever seen”. The traditional coussin cut is able to enhance the extraordinary intensity level of the blue in a gem with an absolutely uniform color. The necklace has been designed to slide along the neck imitating the flow of water. The Blue Waterfall necklace has a removable section that makes it a transformable creation that plays with the dynamic nature of water.

In this line there is also the Blue Waterfall watch, where the idea of the waterfall is represented by an intricate set of marquise-cut sapphires on the bezel surrounding a white mother-of-pearl dial. Piaget selects only the best mother-of-pearl characterized by a distinctive pure white color (this is a sign of very high quality), which is due to the environment in which the oysters are grown. The 18K white gold case of the Blue Waterfall watch is completed by a bracelet with Decoro Palace, one of the Maison’s characteristic workings. This exclusive technique involves the manual engraving of the gold and the links that make up the bracelet to create a unique effect. The Decoro Palace in the Blue Waterfall watch recalls the jagged rocks of a lagoon and magnificently emphasizes the sharp contrast with sapphires

Another watch that is part of Desert Minerals has been called Secret Water, and is inspired by the seemingly endless reflection of the sky in a body of water. For this timepiece opal was chosen, a stone that Piaget has used since the 1960s.

The opal is a stone capable of illustrating the richness of the Earth because it is composed of a whole range of different crystals. The world according to Piaget looks just like an opal because it is made of different tastes and preferences.
Yves G. Piaget

The bracelet of the watch is made with Decoro Palace, which recalls the sandstone walls sculpted by the hot desert winds, emphasizes the magnificent black opal dial wrapped in an 18-carat pink gold case with diamonds. Chosen among the best quality gems in Australia, this black opal reflects a mix of yellow, green and blue tones. The reflection depends on the structure of the gem with the smaller silica spheres that emit blue tones while the larger ones accentuate the red tones. Each movement alters the luminous effects of the opal, making each stone exceptionally unique.

Piaget’s Golden Oasis Collection: Play of Lights

///

The great Golden Oasis collection of Piaget high jewelry: here is the Play of Lights line ♦

Every year the summer opens with the wonderful explosion of nature. And following this natural rhythm, Piaget offers just as fantastic collections of fine jewelry showed on the Haute Couture week in Paris. In 2019 this dream of early summer has the name of Golden Oasis. Since summer is not only hot and nature has different expressions, the Piaget fine jewelry collection also consists of several lines: Play of Lights, Desert Minerals and Native Bloom. It is a collection with many pieces and, above all, to be savored with care. On this page, therefore, we publish the images of the Play of Lights line, which according to Piaget finds inspiration in the skies above the desert dunes.

The basic idea of Play of Lights is to seize, through Piaget’s fine jewelry, that magical moment that marks the transition between night and day. Photographers know that the dawn is defined as a golden hour and it’s a special moment, in which the colors are vivid and the sky clear. The jewels of this line, in fact, follow the shades of white and yellow diamonds. For example, in the dazzling Golden Hour necklace. The mix of white and colored diamonds recreates the light of the first rays of the sun, with at the center a fancy vivid yellow diamond of 6.63 carats. The fancy vivid yellow diamonds are extremely rare: only one in 10,000 is classified as fancy and of these, only 6% is fancy vivid. For this realization, this necklace required 450 hours of work.

The first Gucci high jewelry collection

/

A boutique has opened in Place Vandôme for Gucci’s high jewelry, the first collection is called Hortus Deliciarum ♦ ︎

From bags to clothes. From clothes to jewelry. And from fine jewelry to high jewelry, in the most exclusive place in the world: Gucci opened a store in Place Vendôme, in Paris. It must be an essential place for the Kering group, which includes the Florentine brand. At the same time, in fact, always in the most luxurious square in the city I opened a boutique also another brand that belongs to the same French group Kering.

In short, Gucci makes a leap in quality and combines jewelry for mere mortals with one for those with high budgets, as he had anticipated at the end of last year. The boutique will host the gold jewelry and high jewelry designed by Alessandro Michele, creative director of the fashion house. Result: the Hortus Deliciarum collection, a garden of delights where the fruits are “unique gems”.

The collection includes over 200 pieces, mainly unique. And also each gem is set differently, with a result that Michele records discordant symmetry. This search for imperfection, for uniqueness, pays tribute to the classic emblems of eternal love, to the majesty of the animal kingdom with mythical bestiaries and ancient fauna and, finally, to the solitaires redefined. There are also strong colors: gems with special vivid hues, such as yellow imperial topazes, iridescent opals0 pink topazes, pink and blue sapphires, green tourmalines, mandarin garnets, white diamonds, yellow beryllium. On the contrary, the boutique was made with very sober colors.

Gucci, in any case, underlines that since November 2015 all the gold has been realized with the scheme of the Responsible Jewelery Council Chain of Custody, “which allows to identify the expense and guarantee a responsible supply”. In short, Gucci expands its customer base: it sells gold jewelry between 1,500 and 2,000 euros, but with high jewelry, climb from 50,000 to 800,000. Lavinia Andorno

Chanel high jewelry inspired by Russia

Chanel’s new fine jewelry collection: Le Paris Russe de Chanel ♦ ︎

In 1924 Coco Chanel launched the eau de parfum Cuir de Russie. It is not a random name. The heady leather scent was what the French fashion queen linked to her relationship with Grand Duke Dimitri Pavlovich, cousin of Tsar Nicholas II, who had been exiled following the assassination of Rasputin. Short, but intense, as they say. In any case, the special relationship between France and Russia, and between Chanel and Russian culture did not stop. Coco Chanel herself, for example, was never in Russia, yet she had artist friends like composer Igor Stravinsky and Sergiei Diaghilev, founder of the Ballets Russes, among her friends.

According to the biographers of the designer, Coco Chanel was so fascinated by the great country of the East to even hire Russian nobles, who fled to Paris after the October Revolution: a prince of St. Petersburg was the private secretary, while Dimitri’s sister, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna was persuaded to open an embroidery workshop, Kitmir, which worked exclusively for the Maison Chanel.

The Tsar’s double-headed eagle is now back in the new collection of haute joaillerie named Le Paris Russe de Chanel: 69 pieces divided into two lines. The first celebrates the aristocracy, the palaces of St. Petersburg and Moscow, the military orders. The other line, instead, is inspired by Russian folklore, with the typical strong color embroidery. But there are also the ears of wheat which are an allusion to the boundless plains of Russia, but which are also the symbol of the Maison, together with the camellias, another flower that appears in the collection. The Modern Beauties by de Grisogono

The high jewelry of Modern Beauties collection by de Grisogono, presented with the Haute Couture in Paris ♦ ︎

The summer Haute Couture week in Paris, from Sunday 30 June to Thursday 4 July 2019, has one more protagonist: de Grisogono. The Maison of Geneva has decided to present at the same time at the fashion shows a collection of fine jewelry symbolically linked to the style of de Grisogono. The collection is called Modern Beauties. That is to say luxury, but with a license to amaze. Unique, strong, unmistakable pieces. In 20 years they will be perhaps jewels that collectors will compete in auctions, assuming that someone wants to sell them.

Chiaroscuro Gold Ribbons.

The collection consists of four pieces, of which two make up a set of earrings and necklace. There are all the styles of de Grisogono: white and black diamonds, enveloped shapes, like the mix of stones with different cuts.

Party Spirit.

Perhaps the definition of rock’n’roll jewelry, proposed by de Grisogono, is too reductive for a style that has found its place on the top floors of luxury. They are not jewels by groupies, but to be worn even if you are not a model who walks on the red carpet. Provided there is someone willing to give such jewels to a young model. Judge for yourself.

Bulgari, jewels on display

Spectacular jewelry by Bulgari in an exhibition in Italy dedicated to the Roman Maison ♦ ︎

Not everyone knows that the origin of the Bulgari name derives from the fact that the historic jewelry Maison, which is now part of the LVMH group, was founded in Bulgaria. But it happened a long time ago: in 1884. Bulgari was founded by the Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris, who arrived in Italy and became Sotirio Bulgari. Many years have passed and Bulgari has become an icon of luxury, capable of creating exceptional jewels.

Now the most beautiful jewels of the Bulgari Heritage collection, including those belonging to the divas of the Dolce Vita, will be exhibited from June 26 (inauguration on the 25th) until November 3rd, in the exhibition entitled Bulgari, the story, the dream, hosted by two locations Museum Center of Lazio, Castel Sant’Angelo and Palazzo Venezia.

The project was conceived by the Polo Museale del Lazio, directed by Edith Gabrielli, in collaboration with Bulgari and created through contents selected by a scientific committee composed of exponents of the academic world such as Francesco Benigno (Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa), Chiara Ottaviano (historian and sociologist of mass communication), Daniela Luigia Caglioti (University Federico II of Naples), Emanuela Scarpellini (University of Milan). The themes related to style and creativity were developed by Lucia Boscaini, Bulgari brand and heritage curator. Curated by Chiara Ottaviano, the exhibition traces the history of Bulgari as an example of success in luxury.

A shake with Magnitude by Cartier

Striking combinations, gems and abstract compositions: this is Magnitude collection by Cartier of high jewelry ♦ ︎

The abstract forms of the stones seen closely seem works of painters struggling with the mystery of color and its possible combinations. On this ambiguity, Cartier’s Magnitude fine jewelry collection plays. The result is surprising. It is not the classic high jewelry where a princely stone is surrounded by other gems in a geometric composition, more or less innovative. Magnitude, instead, plays with the material itself, with the composition of colors, but also with the natural imperfection of the stones, almost like a gemmology lesson.

anello con opale 1
Anello in oro bianco, diamanti, opale, zaffiro, granati

Precious stones and ornamental hard stones are integrated into jewels that look like sculptures to be exhibited at the Venice Art Biennale or Basel / Miami, you do. It is, of course, a collection far removed from the classic Cartier tradition, but no less interesting. Diamonds together with rutilated quartz, sapphires next to the opal, emeralds near rock crystal, pink diamonds with morganite and coral: this type of mixed marriage would have caused scandal only a few years ago. Now, instead, times have changed, along with people’s tastes and, of course, those of Cartier designers. The new era is characterized by fluidity, even for gems. Federico Graglia

Bulgari’s Cinemagia

//

The superb Cinemagia collection by Bulgari: high-jewelry at the highest level ♦

What distinguishes fine jewelry from high jewelry? We explain it to you: it is the rustling of a film that flows through an old projector. You don’t believe it? And then you let’s look at the Action! necklace, which is part of the new collection of a few, exceptional pieces by Bulgari. The collection is called Cinemagia and, as its name indicates, is dedicated to the amazing world of cinema.

Collana Action! in oro bianco, diamanti, zirconio nero
Collana Action! in oro bianco, diamanti, zirconio nero

The Action! necklace, that we said, is composed of 32 carats of white diamonds and black zirconium. And celebrates the invention of the celluloid film of 1885. The shape, in fact, evokes the very shape and flexibility of a cinematographic film. Inside, however, there is a spring mechanism hidden behind the round element that resembles the coils on which the film is wrapped. By rotating this element you can hear the sound similar to that of the old projectors. The spring then returns the element to its original position.

Bulgari, alta gioielleria, collier con zaffiri per 38,89 carati e 188 smeraldi, diamanti

It is not just a little game, but it is one of those refinements that concern, in fact, only high jewelry. Cinemagia, on the other hand, evokes something magical, as cinema was perceived at its debut, over a century ago. And the pieces presented by Bulgari are, in fact, worthy of the best tradition of the Maison. A necklace inspired by pirate treasures, of course those found in adventure films, combines 38.89 carats of sapphires of different origins, 188 small emeralds cabochons cut, diamonds, and a 500-hour hand-crafted process. Another necklace has a geometric chain on which there are over 270 emeralds and diamonds, on which is attached a pendant that encloses an octagonal cut Colombian emerald with an octagonal cut of 24.46 carats. And the other pieces are no different: watching them is a real show. Like being at the cinema.

Ninotchka’s discreet charm

The mysterious, exclusive, surprising jewels of the Maison Ninotchka. From Russia with love ♦ ︎

They are rather mysterious. The founders of the Maison Ninotchka work in Moscow for an audience of passionate collectors. Yevgeny Glagolev and Timur Ibragimov, founders and designers, work for those who do not want a simple jewel, but a small work of art. Unique pieces are able to excite and also to intrigue. Unlike other colleagues in jewelry, they avoid advertising, clamor and pomp. Yet the jewels they make are precious and surprising.

Ninotchka, anello con zaffiri e rubino
Ninotchka, anello con zaffiri e rubino

There is little information about them: both love historical jewels, so much so that they have used some pieces of the past to make them up to date in a modern way. They also love enhancing the gems found in the mines of great Russia, such as the Siberian amethysts, the Ural demantoids, the Popigai’s mine diamonds in eastern Siberia, where the largest diamond field on Earth is located: a huge large hole 100 kilometers, created by an asteroid precipitated 35 million years ago. But this is irrelevant to their refined work, which should be appreciated for the next 35 million years.

By the way: the name Ninotchka was chosen in honor of the 1939 film by director Ernst Lubitsch and starring Greta Garbo.

Racine, excellent surprise

The couple who created Racine amazed all visitors to GemGenève. That’s why ♦ ︎

The small Maison Racine is back GemGenève and surprised everyone. The couple Miriam Racine Bergesen and Pedro Henrique Oselieri Lopes presented a refined, high-level jewelery brand. Yet little known also to the operators of the sector and to journalists who follow the jewelery. And there is a reason: the Maison Oselieri-Racine, testifies to the deed deposited with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, was established in the first days of January 2018.

Even the two founders, husband and wife, little is known. She is Norwegian, he was born in Geneva, but has Brazilian origins. Passionates about jewelry and gems, they met between a diamond and a sapphire in London, while deepening their knowledge of the mineral world. From there the idea was born to create super jewels, to offer to high-level customers. How easy it is to guess from their first production which, in fact, flies high. The starting point is indeed the creation of unique jewels: “All our pieces are handmade in Geneva, from hand-painted drawings to the detailed work of our expert jewelry craftsmen. We carefully select beautiful and special precious stones and, in collaboration with our artisans, we create colorful, modern and unique jewels” is their premise.

In GemGenève, in particular, Oselieri-Racine presented a pair of heptagonal earrings (on seven sides) that caused the jaw to fall to more than one visitor. They are made with embedded blue spinels, moonstones, diamonds and blue, gold and dark silver sapphires. And with this everything is said. Lavinia Andorno

The two faces of Gismondi 1754

The jewels of Gismondi 1754, the Maison in Genoa that won a Couture Design Award ♦ ︎

Fine jewelry and high jewelry: the production of Gismondi 1754 travels on a two-track family-run business based in Genoa. La Maison won the Couture Design Awards in the People’s Choice category. A sign that everyone loved the necklace from the Essenza collection, made with a cascade of diamonds and emeralds. But, alongside unique pieces of fine jewelry, Gismondi 1754 also presented more traditional precious jewels, such as the Dedalo collection, in rose gold and diamonds, with geometric grooves running through the metal. A modern line, current, very European, very Italian design, which follows the most famous Aura collection, where the common thread is instead the concentric circles.

Palmiero between sun, reflections and cinema

Palmiero’s new fine jewelry, with a tribute to the world of cinema ♦ ︎

Born in 1963, Carlo Palmiero developed a passion for beautiful objects and precious gems as a boy. A passion that led him to open his own private atelier, with sales by appointment only, in Rome in 1985. But Palmiero also cultivates another passion: cinema. So much so that he created a Cinema Collection, which includes high-end watchmaking works. Like Ingrid, a bracelet-watches with pink sapphires dedicated to Bergman, the great Swedish actress. But, of course, the great jewels are the focus of the Maison of Valenza. One of the latest innovations, for example, is the Rays of Sun collection. The rays are expressed with folds of a gold foil that recall certain sculptures from the Baroque period, with diamonds that form a special halo, as if they were reflections.

Have you seen The Curious Parrot collier? Look here.

I have always been a child with a great imagination. I used to spend hours assembling and disassembling objects, creating and molding tiny wax jewels. In the jewellery art I finally found the way to give expression to what appeared to be my most natural gift: manual skill. The opportunity I had to observe and work with the greatest master goldsmiths of Valenza contributed to arise my curiosity towards jewellery. I thus started to grow a passion for this art, whose techniques and secrets I deeply wanted to learn about.

Dazzling Essentially Color by Picchiotti

//

The great jewels of Picchiotti’s Essentially Color collection are back: extraordinary stones for equally exceptional pieces ♦

Picchiotti’s great jewelry is back in style with the Essentially Color collection. It is a line of jewels composed of unique pieces, with precious stones of particular value and visual impact. Precisely for this reason the series of jewels presented in Baselworld in 2019 is different from the one that successfully debuted in 2018. It is, in fact, a collection of superb jewels, with high quality precious stones but, as the name of the series indicates, they are pieces that share color.

Giuseppe Picchiotti, founder of the Maison

GemGèneve preview in New York: here are the first jewels presented to the media ♦

Countdown to GemGenève, the elite fair which will open on May 9, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was previewed in New York: a non-random choice, aimed at increasing media interest even overseas.

GemGèneve is also an opportunity for vintage jewelry lovers. In New York, for example, some pieces were shown at the Geneva event: a Victorian necklace with sapphires and diamond fringes by Gros Diffusion, a double-necked chain with two pendants by the Art Nouveau master , Rene Lalique, dated about 1895, also by Gros Diffusion. Composed of intricate enameled bonds, with a neo-Renaissance flavor, the initials E and M are intertwined on the necklace, and set with amethysts and pearls, the chain, two necklaces, has an aristocratic origin. Originally it belonged to Count Edmond de Pourtales and his wife Melanie de Pourtales.

The Art Deco style, and in particular Orientalism, was represented by a magnificent enamelled gold cigarette case, made by the Parisian master of jewelry, Lacloche Frères, around 1925, by the New York retailer, Palais Royal. The scene depicts a Geisha, set in a Japanese landscape, which tells Lacloche’s specialty in creating orientalist-style boxes.

Another vintage jewel was shown at the preview by the New York antique jewelry merchant, Pat Saling: a coral beaded sautoir, with a multi-gem center with a lion’s head inspired by the African mask, made by Cartier, London, 1975 for Antonio O. Fernandez, diplomat, businessman and passionate collector. But the preview was even richer: the appointment of GemGèneve promises well, we’ll see.

High jewelry in Technicolor by de Grisogono

//

Five high jewelery rings signed by de Grisogono: they will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival. In fact the collection is called Technicolor ♦ ︎

The Ginevra Maison of high jewelery de Grisogono has two fixed points: participation in the Cannes Film Festival and a good dose of humor. For 2019 he decided to combine both aspects for the 17th appointment in Cannes: de Grisogono chosed to call his creations under the name of Technicolor. A name that has made the history of cinema: Technicolor was the second color cinematography procedure to be used on a large scale and, untill 1952, the most used in the United States. It was a synonym of great quality, of strong visual impact, of great films.

But for de Grisogono the word Technicolor brings together five new high jewelery rings. Obviously with very colored stones.

Anello in oro giallo, diamante giallo e diamanti neri
Anello in oro giallo, diamante giallo e diamanti neri

The five rings have as many central stones: ruby, emerald, sapphire, yellow diamond, white diamond. These stones combine with other stones. Combinations that the Maison sees as allusions to the history of cinema. Like the great masterpieces signed by great directors, also these rings are unique pieces. In short, each of these rings has its own script and a director (de Grisogono) who tells their story and their virtues.

Anello con smeraldo e diamanti neri
Anello con smeraldo e diamanti neri

The first ring is in green tone. It is made of 18K white gold, with a coussin-cut Colombian emerald (11.60 carats) and 532 black diamonds (approx. 11.30 carats) in the center. A contrast, between green and black, reinforced by the large lower corolla that rotates around a magnetic beryl that can move.

The second ring is in 18K rose gold, with a brilliant-cut white diamond (7.12 ct), 21 cabochon-cut rubies (15.70 ct), 111 brilliant-cut rubies (approx. 16.50 ct) and 162 white diamonds (about 2.75 carats). The asymmetry between the cuts of the ruby (cabochon and brilliant) goes up to the profile of the ring, covered with over a hundred brilliant cut diamonds. In addition, the ring is dotted with rose gold and black rhodium gold beads. In the center, mounted on a setting of pink gold, there is the white diamond of over 7 carats.

This ring in 18K white gold has a Coussin-cut Burmese ruby (18.13 ct), 46 white cut briolette diamonds (approx. 45.11 ct) and 319 white diamonds (approx. 3.47 ct) in the center. It has a Haute Couture setting technique, which has become the jeweler’s signature, which gives total freedom to the stones, leaving them appear as if they were floating in the air.

Ring in 18K white gold, in the center a blue oval cut sapphire (16.89 carat), 21 marquise cut emeralds (approx. 4.05 carats), 17 marquise cut white diamonds (approx. 3.50 carats), 55 emeralds (approx. 0 , 50 carats) and 15 blue sapphires (approx. 0.04 carats). It’s a vintage touch (maybe), but in addition to sapphire it hits the body of the ring covered with emeralds and marquise-cut diamonds. The perfect symmetry of the marquise cut contrasted by the asymmetry of the setting which for diamonds and emeralds reaches the bezel of the blue sapphire.

In de Grisogono’s creations, black diamonds could not be missing, almost a signature of the Geneva jeweler. This 18K yellow gold ring in the center shows a yellow coussin cut diamond (5.77 carats), 21 yellow baguette-cut diamonds (approximately 2.85 carats), but also 401 brilliant-cut black diamonds (approx. 7.15 carats). It does a great effect.

Palmiero’s art jewels

Art meets jewelery with Palmiero’s 2019 collection, top creativity pieces ♦

When does art meet jewelery? Written in this way is a question that emerges when you look at a collection or a single piece of jewelry, especially those of fine jewelry. So when does art meet jewelery? When can a bracelet, ring or necklace be considered works of art? It is the same question that Carlo Palmiero, one of the noble names of jewelry made in Valenza, Piedmont, Italy, posed to himself. In fact the jeweler has titled his collection, presented at Baselworld 2019, just like this: When art meets jewel (without question mark). And the answer is: yes, he meets it.

Why can these jewels be considered as small (in size) works of art?

First of all, they are unique pieces. They cannot be imitated, they have their own unmistakable style, to be realized they need expert manual skills, like that of a painter who colors with a brush. And, again, they are indisputably the result of creativity. And, in addition to the design of the object, the choice of stones is also the result of a creative attitude: they are different and unique for their purity and their quality. White and black diamonds, cognac, blue, green, yellow, purple, sapphire diamonds that fade like colors on a canvas in blue, pink, yellow, real topazes, tanzanites, rubellites, opals, serve Palmiero as the colors on the palette. Picchiotti Classics, breathtaking jewelery

//

Four exceptional pieces of fine jewelry presented by Maison Picchiotti ♦ ︎

There are jewels that are like novels: observing, scrutinizing them, reading their history is tantamount to evading (almost) the simple price factor. Diving into the stones, on the realization, in the design that composes their prose can be an instructive as well as pleasant pastime. This is the case of most of the jewels created by Maison Picchiotti in Valenza. The production of its high jewelry, so rich above all in meaning and aesthetic sense, goes beyond common considerations: they are exceptional, unique pieces. Dot.

Often Picchiotti surprises his fans, even before the customers, showing some of the best pieces on some occasions, like Baselworld.

Thus among the proposals of the Maison this year new pieces of the Picchiotti Classics line appeared on which it is worth stopping: for example, the two defined as Fit to a Queen. It is a pair of earrings and a necklace that have a combination of classicism and, at the same time, of extraordinary nature that makes them masters of their own realm of jewelry. They are made of white gold, baguette-cut diamonds and emeralds with an unusual octagonal cut. The geometric lines that make up these pieces are reminiscent of two other jewels of the same line: the Hadi Pyramis pendant earrings and necklace, characterized by fascinating pink and blue sapphires, with a sparkling effect created by emerald and round cut diamonds. Even these from standing ovations.

Van Cleef & Arpels, high jewelery in red

//

Red colour celebrates the new high jewelery collection by Van Cleef & Arpels, Treasure of Rubies ♦ ︎

Van Cleef & Arpels in red. It is the color that distinguishes the Treasure of Rubies fine jewelry collection, a new large line of 60 jewels that follows that of Emeraude en Majest in 2016, and continues the research of Pierres de Caractère, that is of special gems. In all, red stones were used for 3,000 carats that come from Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, Burma. Only in this way the Parisian Maison has managed to compose this collection that in many ways resembles the great art deco jewels of the thirties, such as the famous peony brooches, or the famous ballerinas by Van Cleef & Arpels.

As always, for the Treasure of Rubies collection the Maison used the serti mystérieux, the technique invented by Van Cleef that allows you to juxtapose the stones without seeing a metal frame.

Queen of the collection is perhaps Flaming Ruby, a necklace that uses a rare ruby of over 25 carats cut into a cushion, to highlight the quality of the stone. Among other things, ruby has been one of the favorite stones since the foundation of the jewelery brand, thanks to the many trips of the Arpels brothers in India and the Far East in search of precious red gems. The rubies of the Treasure of Rubies collection are used in the Van Cleef style, with flowers, ribbons and oriental motifs composed with the combination of diamonds, on pink or white gold. Rubies, diamonds and class: nothing can be more precious. Giulia Netrese

Anabela Chan, masterpieces with synthetic diamonds

//

Three masterpiece jewels created by Anabela Chan with the synthetic stones of Diamond Foundry ♦ ︎

If you still think that the diamonds created in the laboratory, synthetic, are a simple copy of the natural ones, to be used for a solitaire, you have to change your mind. London designer Anabela Chan, jewel architect and artist, gave a demonstration of what can be done with mechanically produced diamonds. In particular, with Diamond Foundry’s diamonds, the Californian company that also has Leonardo DiCaprio among its shareholders.

Anabela Chan designed with colorless, synthetic diamonds, a mini collection of three pieces. But they are three small masterpieces.

This is high jewelry, although diamonds are synthetic. For the three pieces, the designer used a total of 677 diamonds, over 29 carats, all created by Diamond Foundry. The price, understandably, is on request. The collection was inspired by the orchid flower. And at the Golden Globe in 2019 the jewels are worn by the Golden Globe winner Patricia Arquette.

It is about offering genuinely sustainable and ethical jewels that are stimulating and beautifully made with the highest level of high craftsmanship; works of art that are worn, loved and appreciated forever.
