The firmament, that is the celestial vault – A romantic term to describe what for adtronomists is simply the stellar space. It is also the name used by Crieri for a collection that is inspired by the stars, but with the aim of creating jewels capable of symbolizing a piece of the night sky. The Firmamento collection consists of necklaces, bracelets and rings in the tennis style, which is the specialty of the Piedmontese Maison. The tennis motif, however, is reinterpreted with 18-karat white, pink or burnished gold. The stars that shine are white (on white gold), brown (on pink gold) or black (for burnished gold jewelry) diamonds.

The diamonds are set on the tennis surface by alternating higher carat, brilliant cut gems with other smaller diamonds. The bracelets are available in variants from one to seven strands, in a white gold version with white diamonds, in a pink gold version with brown and white diamonds and in a burnished gold version with contrasting black and white diamonds. The collection includes rings with three, five or seven threads, also in this case with the combination of the color of gold and diamonds. And to admire this firmament, no telescope is needed.

Anyone who plays tennis knows that a match is made up of many different shots, which are also the expression of the player’s inspiration. Tennis bracelets may also be subject to some small variations, which testifies to the inventiveness in a model that is usually quite static. An example are the bracelets of Kulto 925, a brand of the Diffusione Orologi group (which also distributes OpsObjects bijoux). As it is easy to guess from the name of the brand itself, these are jewels in silver, in the natural color, or with yellow gold rhodium plating, with the classic soft shape of tennis bracelets.

The variant, in this case, concerns the stones used, white or colored cubic zirconia. Unlike the classic tennis bracelet, in fact, in this case the stones are cut in baguettes, that is, with a rectangular area. It sounds strange, but in the jewelry collections launched a few years ago by Serena Williams there are no real tennis bracelets. Or, better, there is a jewel defined as a tennis bracelet, but which does not have the shape of the bracelet launched half a century ago by another tennis player, Chris Evert (find the history of tennis bracelets here). The collections have names inspired by the world of tennis: Queen of Your Court, which includes bracelets and necklaces defined as tennis, even if they do not follow the classic model. Unstoppable is the name of another collection, which alludes to Serena’s many tennis successes. The defined tennis shape could actually be defined as riviera, that is, with stones of different sizes to climb. The tennis star has also launched a line of costume jewelry called S by Serena.

Today there is even more poetry in tennis-like jewels. The brand of the Valenza Crieri group, Poesia Gioielli, proposes the new TuttiFrutti collection, which adopts one of the classic models of jewelry, the tennis style. The brand is, however, dedicated above all to a young and innovative public. Things to know: from time to time tennis bracelets appear in the collections. It is a type of bracelet that is usually made of gold and a row of diamonds, sometimes with other precious stones as well. The line of stones of the tennis bracelet is continuous even if, over time, other versions have also been proposed. But why is it called a tennis bracelet? Is it a piece of jewelry you need to play with rackets and balls? Who decided to call them that? What does Grand Slam sport have to do with it? Here is the answer: the tennis-like bracelet has a rather recent history. That is, it does not belong to those great traditions of jewelery, codified starting from the nineteenth century, but it established itself relatively recently. The tennis bracelet, in fact, was born in 1987, thanks to a tennis player.

The line of diamonds that has no beginning or end was actually associated with the desire for eternal love. In fact, originally, its name was just eternity bracelet, in analogy with the same type of ring. What does tennis have to do with it, then? Simple, this bracelet became famous because it was always worn by one of the best (some say even the best) tennis player, the American Chris Evert. To give an idea, Chris Evert remained consistently at the top of world tennis in the 1970s and 1980s, and was number one in the official rankings for seven years. Well, she loved eternity bracelets, which she often wore even during games. Indeed, we remember a funny episode: during a US Open match Chris lost a diamond bracelet signed Coronet. The game was then suspended to recover the precious jewel. Since that time the diamond bracelet has been called a tennis bracelet. In short, tennis has replaced eternity with a hit of the racket.
