Barbie’s jewels

Do you like pink? Do you want to wear pink jewelry? Are you looking for a pink necklace? Or a bracelet? Or … Here are many ideas ♦

There are many reasons to wear pink jewelry, Barbie’s favorite color. The first is that it is the light version of marsala, announced color of the year, according to Pantone. In addition, it is definitely more suited to this season; the second reason is that its tone, even the one tinged with gray tinge, embellishes any type of skin. And This alone would be enough to convince anyone. But there is another side to act as an incentive and comes from English: think pink!It means thinking positive. And indeed a beautiful bright pink is a burst of energy, a stimulus to good mood. So, although many of the color names have lost their multiplicity of meanings, even in some languages in common phrases characterize specific moods. So, ring, earrings or bracelet have also colored stones, faceted or cabochon, translucent or opaque. Provided that they are pink.

And more, pink is a positive color. It takes its name from the fragrant flower of the same name. But perhaps you don’t know that it was born quite recently: the name rose was used for the first time to indicate a shade of color only at the end of the 17th century. In the West (especially Europe and the United States), pink is the color associated with concepts of charm, kindness, sensitivity, tenderness, sweetness, childhood, femininity and romance. If the hue is very light, it is associated with chastity and innocence. On the contrary, a bright pink suggests eroticism and seduction.

The history of pink
One could write a history of the color pink. But, undoubtedly, the maximum popularity reached it in the mid-eighteenth century, when pastel colors became very fashionable in all the courts of Europe. The pink color in particular was highly appreciated by Madame de Pompadour (1721-1764), lover of King Louis XV of France, who often wore clothes that combined blue and pink. Not only that: she had a particular shade of pink created especially for her by the Sevres porcelain factory, apparently with small additions of blue, black and yellow.

Pink stones
But let’s talk about jewelry: in addition to pink gold, you have a wide choice of stones that have shades of rose. The most precious, and most expensive, is undoubtedly the diamond. Diamonds with pink shades are buyed for millions of dollars during the auctions. But luckily there are many other stones that also have this color tone in their repertoire: quartz, sapphire, mystic topaz, rhodolite garnet, morganite, kunzite, Malaya garnet, tourmaline, spinel, opal, zircon, pink pearl, moonstone , coral, smithsonite, pezzottaite, rhodochrosite and rhodonite. You only have the problem of choosing one.

Gypsy atmosphere for Tamara Comolli

//

In the collective imagination, the word gypsy is not connected with reality, but with a bohemian concept, that is, of those who practice an unconventional lifestyle. In short, it is a synonym of freedom, of countertrend choices, of recklessness. The fashion that defines itself as gypsy, however, is anything but gypsy: an example is the new collection by Tamara Comolli, a brand founded by the Bavarian designer and distributed in 120 stores in Europe and the United States. The Gipsy collection offers bracelets, pendants and earrings in the three classic colors of gold, with the addition of diamonds or semi-precious stones. The style is cheerful, but not casual.

Bracciale Candy con pavé di diamanti bianchi, rubino, zaffiro blu, zaffiro giallo, zaffiro arancione, tsavorite

The Gipsy collection is, however, in the wake of the other creations of the Maison founded by Tamara Comolli in 1992 and which is inspired by the concept of barefoot luxury (it is no coincidence that it has several boutiques in seaside resorts). Jewelery has always used a wide variety of colored stones, often with the now classic acorn-shaped cut, which distinguishes the brand. Not, however, in the Gipsy collection, which uses gems in the more traditional round shape.

The new Mikado by Tamara Comolli

/

The name Mikado evokes many things: the name given to the emperors of Japan, a type of silk originating from the Land of the Rising Sun, a game originating from China, a production company and independent film distribution, a two-act comic opera by Gilbert & Sullivan and, last but not least, a brand of thin chocolate-covered biscuits. But it would be a serious shortcoming not to add Tamara Comolli’s Mikado collection.

Collana Mikado in oro rosa, diamanti, pietra luna
Collana Mikado in oro rosa, diamanti, pietra luna

It is a collection in progress, as it is periodically enriched with new pieces. The characteristic of the jewels is the shape, with colored gems with the shape of an acorn. Over time, then, jewels have also been added that use not only semi-precious stones, but also pavé diamonds, always with that characteristic volume. One of the latest additions is the long Mikado necklace with iconic charms that move along a handmade chain. The pendants are made of solid gold drops, brilliant, golden, orange and white cut diamonds pavé with moonstone.

Tamara Comolli with new colors of India

/

Tamara Comolli brings India to Arizona. But without moving continents: the link between the two geographical areas is represented by a new version of the popular India Snakewood bracelet. It is an elastic bracelet with single or triple turn, which mounts turquoise gems. And, in particular, turquoise is the gem you can found in Arizona, United States: it was not by chance that it was for centuries the semi-precious stone preferred by the Indians, but those that are born in America. The bracelet is also embellished with gold spheres, but its peculiarity is another: it can also be used as a necklace.

Tamara Comolli also adds the new India Akoya Candy bracelet to the same line of jewelry. In this case, a series of pearls characterized by a pink iridescence are selected to be combined with spheres of pink, green and yellow tourmaline, apple green peridots, purple amethysts and orange mandarin garnets. Also in this case the bracelet can be worn a triple turn around the wrist or neck as a long necklace.

Finally, other novelties are made up of other earrings and a bracelet from the collection, India Dream. The jewels are made with gold flowers adorned with a sapphire, flanked by colored sapphires, tsavorite and Tahitian pearls.

New Boutons for Tamara Comolli

New Boutons from Tamara Comolli, the German and international easy chic brand. The Bouton collection, one of the most appreciated, is enriched with new jewels, including earrings and bracelets. Let’s start with the first ones: Tamara Comolli introduces a larger version of earrings than the previous model, with cabochon stones that match the rings of the same collection. Bouton 2 Cabochons earrings have two different sizes of stones, with a silhouette embellished with a white diamond. The new earrings are available in Cashmere, Camel, Sand and Sky versions. The Indian Summer version offers particular color combinations with a further touch given by the yellow of the sapphires in the center.

The collection also includes long earrings made with a mix of cabochons, diamonds and sapphires. The design, in this case, is combined with the Mikado Flamenco bracelet, another must of the Maison. A complete novelty are, however, the bracelets, with the same nuance of stones: they can be worn individually or as part of a creative combination, either with a leather cord or with other bracelets of the Bavarian brand.

The myMikado bracelets by Tamara Comolli

/

Summer, sea, freedom: even jewels, like the myMikado bracelets by Tamara Comolli, adapt to the summer. The imperative is: lightness, but without forgetting elegance. The new myMikado bracelets have mini acorn-shaped pendants in the center, the typical shape of the stones used by Tamara Comolli. More precisely, the acorn-shaped gems are peridot, Swiss topaz and pink tourmalines, tied with water-resistant nylon cords and available in current colors such as turquoise, taupe, white, pink and black.

Alongside the gems and cords, a precious detail is added: the 18-karat gold drop, which takes up another of the forms that distinguish the German brand, the paisley-style leaf silhouette, a design that is at the center of other collections by Tamara Comolli. In short, the myMikado bracelet is proposed as a real jewel, but with the ease of matching it with a sporty, beach look.

Tamara Comolli with extra-large Mikado

/

Today more than ever there is a need for cheerful colors, such as those proposed by Tamara Comolli. Which is a brand of jewelry linked to the concept of casual, nonconformist, sporty and natural chic, presents several novelties for 2020. For example, the new Mikado necklace, a line of jewels that is one of the most successful ones by the Bavarian designer. The new Mikado necklace highlights the passion for the brand’s colored stones and uses the classic cut of acorn-shaped gems.

The concept of easy chic is reflected in the arrangement of the stones which may seem random. It is not. The Mikado necklace is available in two different lengths: short has a Lariat style, with a modern and sophisticated look. The extra-long version becomes a versatile sautoir: it can be worn with a double turn around the neck, or with a Y-shape. And, again, in the longer style. Next to the Mikado necklace with gems of different colors, from blue topaz to green peridot, from carnelian to amethyst, the Maison also presents a version with turquoise and small acorns covered with a pavé of diamonds.

Tamara Comolli with the face of Carolyn

American supermodel Carolyn Murphy looks for Tamara Comolli’s jewelry ♦ ︎

Acorn-shaped gems, paisley embroideries: Tamara Comolli’s easy luxury worn by American top model Carolyn Murphy. It’s her the face and body of the campaign conceived by the German designer’s brand, which used Islamorada, a US municipality in the southern part of the State of Florida, as a backdrop. In short, air from the Caribbean that helped photographer David Lipman to take pictures of Carolyn Murphy between the blue of the sea, the beaches and the sailboat. A perfect setting for Tamara Comolli’s collections, which has never hidden its predilection for water and the sea.

Carolyn and I immediately shared our way of feeling and living, and we became friends. She is a rather reserved, wonderfully spontaneous person. When she picked up my Mikado Flamenco bracelet, a smile appeared instinctively on her face and said: I love all the colors. It makes me so happy, it was clear that she was perfect for the brand .

Tamara Comolli dives to Capri

Tamara Comolli’s fourth sales outlet in Italy: it is in Capri in partnership with Desiderio Gioielli ♦ ︎

Tamara Comolli plays poker: she has the fourth point of sale. After opening the first single-brand boutique in Forte dei Marmi (Tuscany), it descends to the south and arrives in Capri, in partnership with the historic jeweler Desiderio Gioielli. The German brand, therefore, still chooses a seaside resort, a favorite environment of the designer who founded the brand. Sea, but also luxury and international customers, those who frequent the famous island in front of Naples.

Gioielleria Desiderio, Capri
Gioielleria Desiderio, Capri

The opening in Capri represents the fulfillment of a dream I had in the drawer for a long time. The island had been, some time ago, the inspiration for the creation of a Color Story, a story made of colored gems that celebrate this wonderful land. Turquoise, cacholong and carnelian; blue, white and red; sky, sea and a fiery sun that make Capri a magical place full of bright energy.

Desiderio Gioielli, a Capri store operating since 1920, the first jeweler to treat high jewelry on the island, has been run by the family for four generations. Today Enrico and Andrea Desiderio carry on an activity that has enjoyed the trust of local and tourist customers for over 90 years. “We are happy to have enriched our offer with Tamara Comolli’s jewelry collections, the richness of the colors and the freshness of the precious creations are perfectly in line with our customer’s lifestyle”, adds Enrico Desiderio, Director of the boutique.

With Desiderio Gioielli in Capri, Tamara Comolli’s points of sale in Italy rise to four, in addition to the mono-brand boutique in Forte dei Marmi opened a year ago, the brand is present also in the Jewelry Exhibition of Pisa Orologeria in Milan and Alto Adige, from Tiroler Goldschmied.

New earrings by Tamara Comolli

/

New earrings are added to the Signature collection by Tamara Comolli ♦ ︎

One of Tamara Comolli’s favorite shapes, along with that of the acorn, is the drop. Preferably of seawater, because the German designer loves waves and beaches. In any case, the Signature collection, launched years ago is inspired by the shape of the drop. Stretched, smooth or covered with diamonds, alone or in the company of other drops, it makes the appearance of the jewels of this collection almost liquid.

Orecchini della collezione Signature in oro rosa e bianco, diamanti

In 2019 three new creations were added to the Signature collection: Wave pendant earrings, available in three versions of gold, white, yellow and pink and in as many models. The first, small model, light, consists of two elements, a smaller drop at the lobe and a larger one as a pendant.

Orecchini in oro giallo e rosa

In the medium-sized earrings the sequence of the three gold drops is animated by the asymmetry of the diamond decoration (about 0.50 carats). The pavé drops are positioned at different heights. Finally, long version earrings aim for a greater effect. All three are added, of course, to the other pieces in the collection.

Other rings from the Bouton collection by Tamara Comolli: small solitaires with sapphires or pink spinel ♦

Tamara Comolli’s Boutons get smaller. The solitary rings of the popular collection of the Maison of Monaco reappear in an updated edition. The jewels are always made on gold frames in the three shades of white, yellow and pink, and they have three different gems: blue or yellow sapphire (0.30 ct) and pink spinel (0.28 ct). The stones are round brilliant cut. The diamonds, in any case, are present in pavé version on other rings of the same collection, or in solitary, as a light point of 0.25 carats.

The new rings and earrings from the Bouton collection by Tamara Comolli: gold and precious stones with small diamonds ♦ ︎

New season, new colors, new earrings and cabochon rings from the Bouton collection by Tamara Comolli. The classic line of jewelery was completed by three new diamond-cut solitaire rings. These are stackable rings with blue and yellow sapphires and a deep pink Burma spinel. The rings can be wore in many combinations, in addition to those already present in the collection.

As the name suggests, the Bouton collection is inspired by the classic shape of the circle.

Tamara Comolli, hearts for Valentine’s Day

//

Tamara Comolli’s suggestion for Valentine’s Day is a drop. But heart-shaped ♦ ︎

Valentine’s day in a casual luxury format. That is signed Tamara Comolli. The brand of Monaco easy-chic, but that makes the processing of jewelry, in Milan, has its own idea for the party of lovers. The idea is to celebrate with a jewel, of course, but without the air of excessive officiality that can transform love into plaster. In short, following the philosophy of the Maison, which combines luxury with jeans.

The suggestion for Valentine’s Day, therefore, concerns the Talisman collection.

Bracciale Talisman in oro giallo

As the name of the collection indicates, the jewel in this case is seen as an amulet, which is transformed into the drop, the characteristic icon of the brand, as well as the minimum part of water, an element that is dear to the founder and designer, Tamara Comolli.
The Talisman collection consists of heart-shaped pendants, which takes the form of two intertwined drops. A symbology suitable for the celebration of love.
The heart is used for bracelets made of gold in its three colors, white, yellow and pink. The charm is added to a mesh chain in the case of the bracelet, adjustable in length. The pendant can also be worn around the neck with a gold chain or a leather cord. Giulia Netrese

Tamara Comolli in the Ocean Jasper

//

The Ocean Jasper collection by Tamara Comolli brings out the thousand colored combinations of stone combined with gold ♦ ︎

The waves of the sea are all different. And, in the same way, even the gems are equal but different from each other. From this consideration comes the Ocean Jasper collection by Tamara Comolli, who thus manages to bring together his two passions: jewels and the sea.

The marine jasper, in fact, is a stone capable of surprising for its variety of color combinations.

Anelli in oro bianco, diamanti e diaspro
Anelli in oro bianco, diamanti e diaspro

Some stones look like photographs of the sky and are called Landscape Jasper, others look like hand-painted enamel paintings and are therefore defined as Picasso Jasper. Those used by Tamara Comolli, for example, come from Madagascar and are particularly composite. The color spots and their distribution, therefore, is absolutely natural.

The Ocean Jasper collection combines these stones exclusively with 18 K gold frames and, in some cases, with the addition of brown diamonds.

The collection consists of rings, bracelets and necklaces. The rings are made with gold in its three colors, white, pink and yellow. In the Coconut model bracelets the stones alternate in their nuances on a golden frame that culminates with the classic symbol of the drop, the brand’s emblem.

VicenzaOro, among the news there is the farewell of Marzotto

The vice president of Ieg, Matteo Marzotto, leaves the company with controversy, while they preparing the edition of VicenzaOro January ♦ ︎

There are already the first changes for the next edition of VicenzaOro January. But at the appointment of the winter edition of the jewelery fair, controversy also shine. That can not leave the insiders indifferent.

A few days ago, in fact, Matteo Marzotto, vice president of IEG, a company born from the union of Fiera Rimini with Fiera Vicenza, has resigned from his position, in a controversy with the octogenarian president of Italian Exhibition Group, the very senior Lorenzo Cagnoni.

Da sinistra, Matteo Marzotto, Lorenzo Cagnoni, Ugo Ravanelli
Da sinistra, Matteo Marzotto, Lorenzo Cagnoni, Ugo Ravanelli, ad di Ieg

It is not a little good-bye, as Marzotto must be credited with having relaunched VicenzaOro, above all at a difficult time for the Italian economy. New ideas, dynamism and personal relationships of Marzotto were the recipe for the new face of the format, which was then successfully exported abroad. All this, however, does not seem to have been enough for the new management of the company. More than a merger between two partners, it is the sense of the farewell of Marzotto, it was a question of an OPA of Rimini on Vicenza. And for Ieg, whose goal is to be listed on the stock exchange, Marzotto’s leave is not a minor goodbye.

The distance had already appeared clear during the last edition of VicenzaOro September, in which Marzotto was not involved.

Matteo Marzotto, ex presidente di Fiera Vicenza (a sinistra) e Corrado Facco, ex direttore generale

In any case, the Veneto entrepreneur did not use half-terms and denounced in a letter the lack of “institutional respect of the minority shareholder, too often ill-tolerated and kept on the sidelines, even on occasions of important decisions, such as that of assignment of the design for the enlargements of the exhibition areas, brought to the board by ad Ravanelli to things widely done and for mere disclosure”.
Marzotto’s letter also underlines what the experts have been saying negatively for some time: the hasty dismissal of the former director of Fiera Vicenza, Corrado Facco, Marzotto’s right-hand man and co-author of the re-launch of VicenzaOro.
“The way we look is practically opposite on everything, except on the goodness of the merger of the two fair companies and their listing on the Stock Exchange”, concluded Marzotto bitterly.

Tamara Comolli, a ring to sustainability

/

A ring of Tamara Comolli to help sustainability projects in gold mining ♦ ︎

Tamara Comolli heart of gold. Not only because the founder of the brand that bears his name draws jewels with precious metal. Tamara Comolli has a heart of gold for the particular sensitivity in supporting the Eathbeat Foudation through the donation of 3% of the revenues deriving from the sale of the rings of the Wave line (Signature collection, purchased in the single-brand boutiques or on the brand’s online shop).

The Earthbeat Foundation supports sustainability in the gold sector.

The goal is to create alternative and sustainable income structures, especially for children and for women working in gold mining with information on health, finance, strengthening of human rights, labor protection, savings systems and education
Here are some examples: Eathbeat Foudation is engaged in temporary projects Heartbeat Honey and Heartbeat Garden, to promote a sustainable lifestyle for both people and nature. The project has already funded one year of education for 80 gold prospectors to become beekeepers. The Heartbeat Garden project, on the other hand, educates local populations to the cultivation of natural resources such as bamboo or vetiver to be used for different uses and businesses. The foundation also works on long-term solutions for access to drinking water. To get the aid in the short term, Earthbeat has partnered with TivaWater, installing filters to purify groundwater as a major breakthrough in disease prevention.
Progetto Heartbeat Honey

The Wave ring by Tamara Comolli symbolizes the power of nature and, in particular, an element much loved by the designer: water.

This is why it embodies the ideal symbol to associate with this initiative. Together with the Earthbeat Foundation, Tamara Comolli is committed to empowering the people of the gold mines in Busia, in eastern Uganda to offer a concrete contribution to improving the quality of life of local populations in a sustainable way.

Tamara Comolli, producing high jewelery, is strongly linked to reliable sources for high quality gold. The work of gold prospectors is important and much appreciated, especially for the protection of these unique sources. The goal is to protect and support them with donations that come from the sale of jewelry made of pure gold, thus returning something to their communities in the long term.

Pisa Diamanti, in Milan new brand and salon

//

The Pisa Diamanti brand was born in Milan, and a new showroom in Pisa Orologeria hosts six big names of high jewelery ♦ ︎

Milan is the Italian capital of fashion, design and economy. But also of jewelry. Of course, in Valenza and Vicenza they are produced. But in Milan they are sold, especially in the so-called Quadrilatero, that is the area around Via Monte Napoleone. And it is precisely here that one of the most historical stages of jewelery is located, and not only. Pisa Orologeria, in via Verri, is a destination for luxury pilgrims, both Italian and foreign, who are looking for pieces that are often extraordinary. And there they find them. Now they can choose even more, because Pisa Orologeria presents two novelties. The first is its own high-end jewelry brand, Pisa Diamanti. The second novelty, however, concerns the opening of a large second floor.

The Pisa Diamanti collection now becomes a real high-end jewelry brand, born from the desire of Maristella and Chiara Pisa to express their values and vision in a line of jewels.

The jewels that Pisa Orologeria made without transforming the offer into a brand, are now connected by a strong name. What is defined as a touch of femininity to the universe of jewelry is a collection with deliberately essential frames to enhance what makes a truly precious jewel: diamonds. The collection presented includes tennis necklaces and bracelets, solitaires, earrings and pendants light points. Classic frames, first quality stones and a lancet-shaped griffe, embellished with a setting of diamonds, are the guidelines of the Milanese brand. There are also cufflinks, chevalier rings and even gold and diamond tennis bracelets for men. “Pisa Diamanti gives continuity to the values that have always characterized us according to our tradition: sobriety, elegance, attention to detail and constant research of quality”, comments Maristella Pisa, president of Pisa Orologeria. “Pisa Diamanti is the evolution of the relationship with our female clientele, to which we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, adds Chiara Pisa, managing director.

Diamonds and high jewelery find a place on the second floor of the flagship store.

In addition to those of Pisa Diamanti, in the bright and velvety salon there is the best of six high-end jewelery brands. There is something for everyone: Boucheron, Chaumet, Chopard, de Grisogono, Messika and Tamara Comolli. In short, from the most classic high jewelry to the light-hearted, but always on the highest step of the podium. “It is a new point of contact with female customers, to whom we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, continues Chiara Pisa. “A new adventure that, starting from September 2018, sees the second floor of the Flagship Store destined for the diamond universe, now renamed the Salone dei Jewels”.
The project was curated by Vittorio Carena Studio. The surface is organized with a large oval of over 100 square meters, which houses the brands, plus a satellite space dedicated to the Salotto de Grisogono. Circular desk and imperial metal cases and precious fabrics are surmounted by a glass and light installation and greeted by a large pastel-colored carpet. True luxury, but sober, very Milanese.

Tamara Comolli, autumn nuances

Tamara Comolli colors her collections with the nuances of autumn ♦ ︎

What are the autumn colors of a German designer with an Italian surname? Answer: they are shades ranging from white to brown. Tamara Comolli in VicenzaOro has decided to present jewels that are added to its most famous lines, as the India, Mikado, Bouton, Snowflakes, Signature and CV collections.
Among the novelties are the bracelets and necklaces of the India collection, which add two full gold leaves, symbol of the collection itself. Moonstone spheres in shades of orange, white and brown, interspersed with pink gold spheres design the Camel mood.

Still moonstone in gray, white and brown with white gold spheres for the Cashmere collection, which can be worn as necklaces, or wrapped around the wrist as bracelets.

The same soft tones of the India collection are found in the additions to the Mikado and Bouton collections, which use the cabochon cut of the moonstone. In the Mikado collection the cut is an elongated cabochon which takes the form of an acorn, which is the connotation of the Maison.
Tamara Comolli, in short, continues to focus on Italy: “Participation in the Vicenza event is of great importance for us, as part of the project to develop our distribution in Italy. We left with Milan and the presence at the Watchmaking Pisa to arrive in June 2018 with the opening of the first single-brand store in Forte dei Marmi. The taste and the philosophy of my creations are very close to the needs of the Italian client. Today we are receiving very encouraging feedback, the reception of the Bel Paese was warm as I expected”, the designer comments.

Tamara Comolli, Mikado endless

Tamara Comolli renews the jewels of the Mikado collection. Images and prices ♦ ︎

The Mikado collection is one of the flagships of Tamara Comolli, the Bavarian brand that has recently landed also in Italy. Like all the collections that continue over time, Mikado also renews itself periodically, but always without forgetting its origin, that casual luxury style that has as its main protagonists the acorn-shaped stones (which according to Tamara Comolli symbolizes energy and prosperity).
Now the acorn-stones of the different lines that are part of the collection, namely Mikado Flamenco, Mikado Bouquet and Mikado Bouquet XL, are updated with the use of amethyst, sky blue topaz, blue and London blue, carnelian, smoky quartz, peridot , pink tourmaline, moonstone in white, caramel and gray colors, pink, blue and light blue chalcedony, diamonds. By the way: the different Mikado lines also serve to identify the size of the stones. It ranges from 8 mm in diameter of Mikado Flamenco to 11 mm of Mikado Bouquet, up to 18 of the Mikado Bouquet XL charm.
The stones are mounted on an 18 carat yellow gold base, also available in white gold and pink gold, or on a leather cord. The shape of the stones and the formula of the collection suggests an use of the acorn as a pendant. The bracelets and the glue with pendants are, in fact, the classic Mikado jewels. Prices: from € 750 for a pendant, € 1,350 for a pendant with three acorns, up to € 32,990 for the Mikado Flamenco bracelet. By the way, for those who do not know, Mikado is the name given to the emperors of Japan, but also a game composed of colored sticks. Giulia Netrese

Tamara Comolli: I go back to VicenzaOro. And for Baselworld …

Tamara Comolli explains to gioiellis.com the strategies for Italy, VicenzaOro, Baselworld and… ♦ ︎
Tamara Comolli launches a new collection. Tamara Comolli opens a store in Forte dei Marmi (Tuscany, Italy). Tamara Comolli is bought (at least in part) from the Naga fund in Hong Kong. The German brand with the Italian name is at a time of great activity. On the other hand, her creative mind, Tamara Comolli, has always been quite effervescent. But even if it has so many changes, the designer also has fixed points. For example, “in September I return to VicenzaOro”, anticipates to gioiellis.com. And on Baselworld …
Question. The partnership with Naga is a prelude to expansion on the Asian market, since the fund is based in Hong Kong?
Answer. The investment of the Naga Group in Tamara Comolli is completely in line with the company’s modus operandi. Their goal is to support the creative entrepreneurs of families and / or companies led by the founders at a crucial point in their development and expansion. The fact that Naga is a holding company based in Hong Kong does not imply a commercial focus in Asia. Damien Dernoncourt, French and managing director of the Naga group, has created John Hardy, a jewelry company based in Bali that has had particular success in the United States, but which has maintained its hub in Hong Kong. The investments made possible by the partnership will mainly focus on further strengthening Tamara Comolli in its key markets, Europe and the United States. This is the second major investment for the Naga Group: the first was Talika, a cosmetics brand based in Paris.
Q. What percentage of the Tamara Comolli brand has been sold?
A. As agreed by both parties, financial details can not be disclosed. As executive president and creative director, I have a significant minority.
Q. Will the jewelry proposal be extended to the top of the range or to the “most accessible” jewelery category?
A. At this moment, the wide range of price points that will appeal to all segments of the jewelery market will surely remain. To define ourselves as “casual luxury” is linked to a design approach that covers different price points. The main collection goes from 1,000 to 15,000 euros per piece.
Q. Is the Forte dei Marmi boutique an experiment or do you have other openings planned?
A. Forte dei Marmi is a natural choice for the international retail strategy of the Tamara Comolli brand. It is our seventh boutique and we believe it is a perfect place to support expansion. We are confident that this is not an experiment, but the right step towards “the sweet life”.
Q. Why Forte dei Marmi and not Rome or Florence (there is water there too, an element that you prefer)?
A. Forte dei Marmi has been selected for two reasons. In the first place, it has the perfect clientele, both in terms of local residents and in the profile of foreign tourists. Secondly, it is ideal with the preferred retail presence in “places of the spirit” relaxing and luxurious seaside resorts with unmistakable charm and a “village” atmosphere. The mark or the symbol of the mark is the drop of water. It follows that the retail journey began where relaxed luxury is lived at its best: on water, near beaches or lakes.
Q. Do you plan to participate again in Baselworld?
A. We are waiting for information on the new Baselworld concept for 2019 and we will certainly be part of it. Also, we just got back from the Vegas Couture.
Q. And at Vicenza Oro?
A. Yes, we will be present in September 2018.
