Green is the color of the year 2017, according to Pantone. But, actually, in jewelery green is always been fashionable. Especially if the color of the leaves is what is reflected by precious emeralds. Sutra, Maison guided by Arpita Navlakha, with a workshop in Mumbai and roots in Texas, also knows it well. Emeralds, commonly used with diamonds, are one of the most used stones in collections. In Baselworld, for example, Sutra has presented, among other things, the extraordinary necklace (price: $ 1 million) you see in this video worn by a model. It consists of 24 emeralds pear-cut, plus a thirty diamonds also pear-cut, in addition to the pavé that covers the remainder.
But other Sutra jewels have a widespread use of green stones, such the ring with nine Colombian emeralds that surround a 7 carat diamond rose-cut, mounted on burnished gold. The new Signature line by Sutra and the Feather collection: high quality jewelry, but relatively more affordable ♦
Sutra is a word that in the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, means “collection of sacred verses.” But, more then a spiritual significance, Sutra is also a great Maison of jewelery. Born in Mumbai, India, it is transmigrated in the US, but continues to work gems and jewels in the country of origin. The designer Arpita Navlakha, in any case, more than the etymological origin of the name, mind creating rich jewels, filled with high quality gemstones, with pieces of fine jewelry and necklaces that exceed one million dollars.
Jewels that hit the sign and evoke wonder. But they are not for everyone. So at Baselworld 2017 Sutra has introduced a new line, Sutra Signature, which combines a high quality jewelry at the most relatively affordable prices. The Flexibile Feather collection, for example, is placed in this price range: as its name indicates, presenting jewelry in the shape of gold feathers and small diamonds. They are always jewelry with great complexity of realization, but in a lower cost range. A pair of earrings, for example, costs 7000 US dollars, while the necklace comes in at $ 40,000. It’s much, in front of a lot of fine jewelry, but little when you consider the setting. The necklace, for example, is made up of 15 carat diamond. The jewelry is available in white gold, black, pink or yellow.

The Design Room in VicenzaOro January 12 outstanding authors of tomorrow’s jewelry.
One of the best innovations of VicenzaOro January edition was the introduction of the Design Room. While some traditional jewelry are missed and don’t are come back at the fair (for example, historical brands like Chimento or Verdi Gioielli), there are new characters that are climbing, successfully, in the world of jewelry. Often, however, they do not have a consolidated organizational structure behind on which to rely. VicenzaOro thought so in an area with all their spaces organized in a simple and recognizable, at an affordable price. The initiative is excellent. For visitors, who were able to bring designers who would otherwise have followed from afar, and designers that have landed in the crucible of Vicenza, since the homogeneity of Design Room (as it was called the space inside the Icon pavilion), it made it more interesting the comparison. Were 12 international designers, young but already established (one of them, Nikos Koulis, also won one of the awards Palladio), who were invited: Netali Nissim, Federica Rector and Qayten (Italy), Rodney Rayner, Sarah and I Zara Simon (UK), Nikos Koulis (Greece), Magerit (Spain), Daniela Villegas and Sutra (USA), Fernando Jorge (Brazil), Elie Top (France). It has been so successful among the celebrity, that Sutra, the brand loved by Michelle Obama, Kate Perry, Halle Berry, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, decided to venture into fine jewelery. Bye bye burnished gold, and welcome white luster of white gold: an obvious choice if the main piece of the new course is a 1-million-dollar necklace with colorless diamonds and emeralds at the drop. The gems of the Sutra Signature are the classic ones of the high-end: in addition to the emerald parure Columbian emerald earrings and ring on display at Baselworld, the American designer of Indian descent has presented other collections with sapphires and rubies. At the recent Met Gala, Rihanna showed a set of clothes with transparencies explicit (now is a scandal if you go dressed) and a selection of jewelry of three different house. On his wrist he wore a bracelet of Roman maison Marli, and a ring of Pasquale Bruni, but also a Sutra ring. All people spoke dell’outfit of Jennifer Lopez at the Met Gala in New York. It gave scandal or, perhaps, curiosity the dress nude look by Versace: a red dragon that left see a few square meters of skin.
