Aurelie Bidermann, Madame Paris

If you want to know who is the woman which embodies the spirit and refined a little ‘snob of a Parisian, ask to Aurelie Bidermann. The designer, one of the most popular in recent years, has started its activities in 2004. And the success has taken her a few months ago to open its first store in the United States, in the SoHo neighborhood, in New York. His eccentric clothing, his subtle irony, the attitude of those who are impatient of the rules, should not tarnish the professional capacity: Aurelie Bidermann has a degree in gemology and a practical skill in making jewelry out of the ordinary. His myths are Charlotte Rampling and Lauren Bacall. But above all, she loves to feel French because, he explains, is a unique style that combines the vintage style with modern. A statement that is confirmed by its collections, that are combining a different geological eras of jewelry to create something new. And also surprising, as the series of rings and pendants in which the precious stones are like grains of rice that move in a small glass case. Or as the pendant beetle shaped, that you can open the wings. Or a shaped pendant bitten apple, but made with gold and diamonds or emeralds. Matilde de Bounvilles

Jewelry, someone loves Calder

In London, an exhibition of Calder’s jewelry, sculptor famous for its mobile works.
Sculptures that move: it was the specialty of one of the great artists of the twentieth century, Alexander Calder. But few know (perhaps) that Calder had also produced jewelry. And his art is now (September 27-November 5) the subject of an exhibition at Louisa Guinness Gallery in London. The exhibition is titled The Boldness of Calder and features some of the artist’s sculptures-jewelry from collections around the world. But the jewels, even if designed by an artist, are still jewelry: and so the exhibition also includes photographs showing women wearing pieces of Calder, as Simone de Beauvoir, Peggy Guggenheim, Georgia O’Keeffe. Often on the jewelry, there are also the initials of the customer. There are earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, hair clips handmade, obviously with not exactly traditional forms, often quite large. The materials most used are silver, or brass. A tribute to Peggy

In Venice there is a small but interesting palace-museum Guggenheim, as well as in New York. Now to Peggy Guggenheim, heiress which was in love with Venice and the art is dedicated to a collection of jewelry. The idea is of the Los Angeles designer Sonia Boyajian, one of the original creators of high-end bijoux, full of references to art history, in particular to contemporary. That’s why, after becoming engaged with the niece of the merchant that launched the sculptor Alexander Calder, and created coillections insiperd by the spirit of the fifties, the pirates atmospheres, and to the sophisticated pop environment of New York sixties, decided to add to its collections also a tribute to Peggy, after reading the autobiography of the rich benefactor art. “If you look at the pictures of his bedroom in Venice, all jewelry and earrings are hung as works of art. I found that is so inspiring, not treating it as a commodity, “he told Sonia to New York Times. But she will not end with these pieces its compliments to the art world. Margherita Donato
