The best jewels of Cannes

The best jewels seen on the red carpet of the Festival of Cannes 2019: Messika, de Grisogono, Cartier, Bulgari, Chopard and …  ♦︎

Jewels on the red carpet, jewels worn by the stars, jewels that are worth a trip to see them: the Cannes Film Festival has always been this too. The 2019 edition does not differ from this apotheosis of diamonds, colored stones, necklaces and earrings with reflections that can be spotted from miles away. Here, then, are some first-class jewels that have aroused envy, admiration and regret (for those who could not wear them).

One of the most active and brilliant houses in Cannes is undoubtedly the Parisian Messika: at the opening ceremony the Turkish actress Dilan Deniz unveiled the extraordinary North Wind necklace from Once Upon A Time’s High Once collection, the Desert Bloom earrings from the collection Born to be wild jewelry store and Mata Hari bracelet from the Paris est une Fête fine jewelry collection. As if that weren’t enough, he showed off his iconic Roman and Glam’Azone double rings and a My Twin ring.

And Valérie Messika, founder and artistic director of the brand, also appeared with Wild Moon earrings, the Desert Bloom necklace and the bracelet from the Born to be Wild jewelry collection. Valérie Messika has also recommended to Selena Gomez the Snake Dance earrings of the new collection Born to be Wild and the Toi & Moi ring, also of high jewelery. Subsequently, the actress then presented herself with a Bulgari series.

The American actress Eva Longoria presented herself on the red carpet, instead, wearing de Grisogono jewels. In particular with the Boule earrings in yellow and white gold coated with white diamonds (1.30 ct) and brown (28.50 ct). Always for the Geneva House, the German model and actress Barbara Meier showed a pair of Vortice earrings in rose gold with white diamonds (11.60 carats) and the Chiocciolina ring in pink gold with white diamonds (2.35 carats) .

With showy Chopard earrings, the Maison that is traditionally paired with Cannes, presented Julianne Moore at the screening of the film Les Miserables. He has changed two: first made only in diamonds and then with diamonds and large emeralds. Same choice (Chopard earrings) for Elle Fanning, which is part of the jury. Alessia Ambrosio opted instead for large spiral earrings in white gold and diamonds by Boucheron. Iranian actress and songwriter Golshifteh Farahani instead shined with a diamond necklace and Cartier opals.

Charlize Theron shines with Messika

Charlize Theron, in Paris for the launch of her film, shines with the Messika diamond jewelry ♦

Charlize Theron has chosen to shine in Paris. The actress presented her new film, Long Shot, directed by Jonathan Levine, in which Charlize is star with Seth Rogen. But at the Gaumont Opera Capucines premiere, the actress also shone for her look: she chose to wear Messika’s high jewelery, Paris’s queen of diamonds. In particular, Charlize Theron wore Snake Dance earrings from Messika’s new collection of high jewelry Born to Be Wild and the ring Shards of Mirror from the Once Upon A Time jewelry collection.

Diamonds are the natural element of Valérie Messika. The daughter of a great diamond merchant, André, graduated in marketing and communication at the Sorbonne before an apprenticeship in Chanel’s jewelery sector in 1999. Back in her father’s company, the designer has added the tranding work of precious stones to that of jewelry, always with exceptional diamonds in the middle. Lavinia Andorno

Exceptional diamonds and jewels transported to the wild West: it’s the Born to Be Wild collection by Messika ♦

So far, Born to Be Wild has been the title of a historical song by Steppenwolf, also well known for being part of the soundtrack of the movie Easy Rider. But from now on, however, Born to Be Wild will also be associated with fine jewelry. And, with an unusual link, a high jewelery sported in the American Wild West.

The queen of diamonds, Messika, has decided to call in this way her impressive collection, presented at Baselworld 2019 in a themed installation.

Messika, linea Black Hawk collection
Messika, linea Black Hawk collection

So much so that a photo shoot sets the exceptional collection in the spaces usually reserved (in the movies) for incursions of native Indians, galloping cowboys, runaway bandits and so on. The collection is very wide and includes different lines, such as Snake Dance, Black Hawk, Diamond Catcher, Shaman Shield, Sun Tribe, Wild Moon.

Messika, Black Hawk

Curiously, it seems that these super jewels are at ease in the midst of natural spaces, strong colors and wild nature. It is a similar, but opposite, contrast to what one feels when an element of nature, for example a ferocious animal, is transported to a civilized environment.

I like to travel, I wanted to instill a state of mind that alludes to feeling of escape. Between fantasy and imagination, the desert acts upon mankind like a great revealer, living up to and surpassing itself. The North American desert, more than any other, leaves one speechless; making you feel like one and someone at the same time…”

Lady Gaga with Messika

Lady Gaga returns on stage with the jewels by the new Messika collection ♦ ︎

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, got engaged with her manager, Christian Carino. And it does not matter if the singer is unfaithful. But not (until proven otherwise) in his personal relationships. The volubility concerns, rather, the choice of jewelry to wear.

After two days when she had wore a big Tiffany diamond necklace, the star chosed Messika’s jewelry.

Lady Gaga, in the contest as the protagonist of A Star is Born, presented herself with the beautiful Tiffany Aurora necklace.

The necklace is an exceptional piece by Tiffany, made especially for Lady Gaga. The Tiffany Aurora necklace is composed of over 300 brilliant diamonds, including a 20-carat pear-shaped stone in the heart of the necklace. The value is 5 million dollars.

High jewelery signed Messika worn by the super model Sara Sampaio. A successful combination ♦ ︎

Messika on the red carpet of the British Fashion Awards in London. The Parisian Maison’s jewels were worn by Victoria’s Secret model Sara Sampaio, who chose Roaring Diamond earrings from the Paris est une Fête jewelery collection, the Glam’Azone bracelet and the My Twin Trio ring.

These are three collections of high jewelery that are emblematic of the Messika style.

Sara Sampaio con gli orecchini Roaring Diamond della collezione di gioielli Paris est une Fête di Messika
Sara Sampaio con gli orecchini Roaring Diamond della collezione di gioielli Paris est une Fête di Messika

The Duncan bracelet from the Paris est une Fête collection, for example, is dedicated to Isadora Duncan, dancer and choreographer of the 1920s, a pioneer of modern dance: pear-cut diamonds are arranged in parallel lines and intersect in a wave. And always in Isadora are dedicated earrings in the same style. Another famous woman who lived in Paris in the past is dedicated to the Mata Hari line, which is always part of Paris est une Fête. Among the pieces of high jewelry stands a wide necklace with oriental influences, almost a diamond mandala, made in the laboratories of Messika thanks to an innovative technique of laying the stone, called serti plume. The diamonds in the center are highlighted by a delicate semicircle of brilliant cut stones, worked and asymmetry in the inverted system: the original shape of the stone is then extended, perspective and greater volume. Pisa Diamanti, in Milan new brand and salon

//

The Pisa Diamanti brand was born in Milan, and a new showroom in Pisa Orologeria hosts six big names of high jewelery ♦ ︎

Milan is the Italian capital of fashion, design and economy. But also of jewelry. Of course, in Valenza and Vicenza they are produced. But in Milan they are sold, especially in the so-called Quadrilatero, that is the area around Via Monte Napoleone. And it is precisely here that one of the most historical stages of jewelery is located, and not only. Pisa Orologeria, in via Verri, is a destination for luxury pilgrims, both Italian and foreign, who are looking for pieces that are often extraordinary. And there they find them. Now they can choose even more, because Pisa Orologeria presents two novelties. The first is its own high-end jewelry brand, Pisa Diamanti. The second novelty, however, concerns the opening of a large second floor.

The Pisa Diamanti collection now becomes a real high-end jewelry brand, born from the desire of Maristella and Chiara Pisa to express their values and vision in a line of jewels.

Pisa Diamanti, anello eternity
Pisa Diamanti, anello eternity

The jewels that Pisa Orologeria made without transforming the offer into a brand, are now connected by a strong name. What is defined as a touch of femininity to the universe of jewelry is a collection with deliberately essential frames to enhance what makes a truly precious jewel: diamonds. The collection presented includes tennis necklaces and bracelets, solitaires, earrings and pendants light points. Classic frames, first quality stones and a lancet-shaped griffe, embellished with a setting of diamonds, are the guidelines of the Milanese brand. There are also cufflinks, chevalier rings and even gold and diamond tennis bracelets for men. “Pisa Diamanti gives continuity to the values that have always characterized us according to our tradition: sobriety, elegance, attention to detail and constant research of quality”, comments Maristella Pisa, president of Pisa Orologeria. “Pisa Diamanti is the evolution of the relationship with our female clientele, to which we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, adds Chiara Pisa, managing director.

Diamonds and high jewelery find a place on the second floor of the flagship store.

Il secondo piano di Pisa orologeria

In addition to those of Pisa Diamanti, in the bright and velvety salon there is the best of six high-end jewelery brands. There is something for everyone: Boucheron, Chaumet, Chopard, de Grisogono, Messika and Tamara Comolli. In short, from the most classic high jewelry to the light-hearted, but always on the highest step of the podium. “It is a new point of contact with female customers, to whom we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, continues Chiara Pisa. “A new adventure that, starting from September 2018, sees the second floor of the Flagship Store destined for the diamond universe, now renamed the Salone dei Jewels”.
The project was curated by Vittorio Carena Studio. The surface is organized with a large oval of over 100 square meters, which houses the brands, plus a satellite space dedicated to the Salotto de Grisogono. Circular desk and imperial metal cases and precious fabrics are surmounted by a glass and light installation and greeted by a large pastel-colored carpet. True luxury, but sober, very Milanese.

The jewels at the Venice Film Festival

Jewels and bejeweled on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival. Here are the choices of the stars ♦ ︎

Let’s face it: not everyone at the Venice Film Festival goes to enjoy a good movie. The show, like in Cannes and at the Hollywood Oscars, also takes place outside, on red carpets and under the flashes of the photographers. Actresses and actors, necklines and high heels, hairstyles and, of course, many jewels: they are also the protagonists of these kermesse. So, at the Festival number 75, an actress with undoubted charm as Caterina Shulha matched the dress with white gold and diamond rings from the Piaget Possession collection.

Elisa Isoardi con anelli e bracciale di Pasquale Bruni

The presence of Pasquale Bruni’s jewels was massive at the Festival.

Elisa Isoardi, television host, wore the earrings and the Vento Flora and Zephyr ring, rings and bracelet from the iconic Giardini Segreti collection (“A dance of light leaves to live on one’s skin to feel like a flower in the most precious garden of life” , describes Eugenia Bruni, creative director of the Maison of Valencia). Also by Pasquale Bruni, the Ghirlanda earrings chosen by Georgina Rodriguez, with a dance of diamond petals “that give sensual and romantic gleams”.
The model Paola Turani is paraded on the red carpet with a Giardini Segreti Haute Couture ring, with emerald embraced by emerald paved leaves, the Stelle in Fiore earrings, and Giardini Segreti rings, in total gold and pink gold with pavé diamonds.

Violante Placido

Again Pasquale Bruni for the Italian actress Ilenia Pastorelli. For the red carpet of the film The Sisters Brothers, she wore rings and bracelets of the Sensual line, while Violante Placido chose the collar-jewel 4th Chakra: light diamond flowers, a heart woven with white gold threads and enriched by a drop of emerald and then the Lakshmi collection in total gold, with rose gold leaves inspired by the divinity that gives joy and luck.

Fiammetta Cicogna, on the other hand, wore a pendant in yellow gold with diamonds and aquamarine of more than 40 carats of Tiffany and earrings in platinum and diamonds from the Soleste collection of the same Maison.
At the opening ceremony Sveva Alviti, heroine of Lukas’ new film with Jean Claude Vandamme, wore the high jewelery necklace with Messika’s Marquise Firebird earring. Also from the Parisian queen of diamonds, the jewels of the British actress Claire Foy, known for her interpretation of Queen Elizabeth, winner of the Golden Globe in the original Netflix series, The Crown. For her, Messika’s three-fingered Mermaid ring. In Messika also Cristiana Capotondi, who paraded on the red carpet wearing Kashmir earrings. The famous Spanish actress Paz Vega chose the Calypso fine jewelry earring and the North Wind ring, while Melissa Satta the Glam’Azone XL rims, the double ring from the same collection and the My Twin Trio ring, also by Messika.
Chopard earrings, however, for Natalie Portman, protagonist of Vox Lux with a Gucci dress. The twin actresses Giorgia and Greta Berti, on the other hand, matched the Manila Grace look (Giorgia opted for a red jacket and trousers suit while Greta chose to wear a mermaid gown in shades of blue) to Marco Bicego’s jewels.

Maxi earring by Messika for Beyoncé

The maxi earring personalized by Messika worn by Beyoncé in Nice ♦ ︎

A riddle: what is the name of the earrings that Beyoncé wears more? The answer is easy: they are called Beyoncé. After appearing in the Louvre with her husband Jay-Z, in front of the Gioconda, wearing a stratospheric diamond necklace by Messika, the singer has again worn the role of the ambassador of the Parisian Maison. This time, however, she moved to Nice, the capital of the Côte d’Azur, where she wore her XL Beyoncé earrings. At the center of the earrings is the icon of three moving diamonds from the Move collection, which is Messika’s most famous jewelry line. In this case the diamonds symbolize the sons of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. In addition to the earrings, the singer also wore the Move Pei bracelet.
Do not think, however, to find the earrings in jewelry: they are unique pieces personalized and created exclusively for the singer by Valérie Messika. Lavinia Andorno

Messika, fairy-tale jewelry

///

High jewelry by Messika: traditional fairy tales are transformed into incredible pieces. Indeed, fabulous ♦ ︎

Being raised with a menu of bread and diamonds is certainly a diet that only a few can say they have followed. But, probably, it is the perfect diet for a jeweler, judging by the result obtained by Valérie Messika. Diamonds were her childhood playmates and, now, they are her working tools. Better, they are tools for the composition of jewelry that are comparable to works of art.
During the Paris Haute Couture Week, Messika presented other high-end jewelery pieces from the Once Upon a Time collection. “Combining my passion for diamonds with my love for fashion, I rewrote some of the stories that once enchanted me when I was a child,” explained the queen of diamonds. “I reinterpreted the stories of these old tales with an ultramodern vision and avant-garde style inspired by the latest fashion trends”.

Eternal Soul necklace, The Little Mermaid inspired

The Little Mermaid
This is the case, for example, of the Little Mermaid, a large necklace with a large emerald-cut diamond in the center. Also the other diamonds, arranged on about fifty fringes, have the same cut. The fringes move and dance just like the waves among which the Little Mermaid lives.
Another exceptional chapter in the series is the Undine Set. It takes the name of a story from the Romantic period, written in 1811 by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué. The story tells the tragic story of an Undine, aquatic female spirit of Nordic folklore. Messika interprets it as a tribute to the world of high fashion, inspired by the most exclusive trends in the world of catwalks. The set consists of a necklace with emerald and brilliant-cut diamonds, a pair of earrings, a bracelet and a ring. The set inspired by the Snow Queen, however, prefers the pear-cut, to pay tribute to the heroine of the fairy tale, who uses his courage to free himself from the hypnotic winter queen.
Another chapter: The Bright Falcon, which refers to an ancient Russian fairy tale. The necklace of this series is nothing short of spectacular. By eye, more than 300 marquise cut diamonds will be used with an overall design that alludes to the wings of a falcon. For this necklace Messika has used various colors and cuts of diamonds (in the middle there is an emerald cut) and a technique specifically studied in the Maison’s laboratory that allows flexibility and ergonomics.
The collection also includes special pieces such as a ring with marquise cut diamonds, or the Radiant ring, with an amazing fancy yellow diamond of over 7 carats. It is appropriate to say that they are a fairy tale jewelry. Giulia Netrese

Messika to the rhythm of Beyoncé

Messika to the rhythm of music, with Beyoncé wearing a sparkling diamond necklace ♦ ︎

It is not true that diamonds only appeal to those with a classic taste, starting with clothing. It’s testified by Beyoncé, who wore jewelry from the Parisian Maison Messika in the video of Everything is in Love, the first with her husband Jay-Z. He, the rapper, not to be outdone, wore a huge gold chain with pendant, under a jacket worn to his skin.
Beyoncé, however, after being photographed for the first time in 2014 with the ring of Glam’Azone in front of the enigmatic Gioconda, she has remained faithful to the Parisian jewelry house. In the video Beyoncé wore the Persian Drops set: a cascade of over 100 carats of diamonds. Perhaps a suggestion to her husband in view of her next birthday. The combination between Beyoncé and Messika has lasted for the last four years: the brand has proudly observed that the singer wears her jewels both on stage and off stage.

The 722 diamonds of Messika

/

An extraordinary necklace with 722 diamonds (and not only) presented by Messika at Baselworld ♦ ︎
Messika is synonymous with diamonds. More: it is perhaps the Maison that most interprets the diamonds used in high, very fine jewelry, but with a modern vision, new, able to amaze. So Valérie Messika brought to Baselworld a series of extraordinary pieces, all composed of the hot glacial stone loved by women (and by diamond collectors). We’ll talk about it in the next days. But among all the pieces stood the necklace inspired by haute couture. And a collection dedicated to the Little Mermaid (a dream when the designer was a child), but the necklace is rightly defined by Messika as majestic.
Messika has aligned 722 diamonds with emerald cut in a composition that leaves electrocuted. At the top, in the middle, there is an emerald-cut diamond of 5.01 carats, while in total the carats of the necklace are 219.2, obviously all of the best quality. To give an idea, the realization of the necklace required almost 2000 hours of work, and of course it is made entirely by hand. In addition to this necklace, there are also a bracelet, a ring and a pair of earrings.
The necklace was then worn by model Sasha Pivovarova and portrayed by Katja Rawles’s lens. Result: a breath of fresh air for high jewelry. Giulia Netrese

Baselworld: win or flop?

Baselworld 2018, number of visitors unchanged. Here’s who is happy and who is puzzled among jewelers ♦ ︎
It depends. The final judgment on Baselworld 2018 can be summarized as follows: it depends. Because the Basel Watch and Jewelery Fair (22-26 March 2018) had two faces. One is the one summarized by two numbers: 1300 and 650. The first is the number of exhibitors, already declining, in 2017 (there were 1500 in 2016). The second is the number of exhibitors in 2018, less than half. A massacre. «A selection», he prefers to call it the managing director of Mch, the company that organizes Baselworld. But, in fact, it depends on the points of view. Faced with such a drastic reduction could have been much worse. The final balance of Baselworld 2018, in the words of the organizers is, if not exciting, at least sufficient. The number of visitors, for example, “has remained stable”. Since the fair lasted two days less, this is considered a success. At the moment we do not know the number of buyers present. 4,400 journalists came to Baselworld, 15% less from Europe, but 5% more from Asia. And if many big brands, such as Festina or Dior, this year have defected the Basel fair, Breitling, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Swatch, Chanel and Gucci have already announced that they will also be present next year, from 21 to 26 March 2019 .
And exhibitors? The opinions are different. Again, it depends. Among the opinions collected by gioiellis.com among jewelers, prevails a lack of enthusiasm for the new formula “concentrated”, which for some is “sad” when compared to the atmosphere that was breathed until a couple of years ago. But at the same time, many have confirmed that commercial activity has not been lacking and, therefore, the presence in Basel still has a reason for being. From the comments collected during the fair, we can summarize the mood:
We are equally satisfied: Fope, Pasquale Bruni, Nanis, Alessio Boschi, Tamara Comolli, Picchiotti, Messika, Mattioli, Rivière
Everything is OK, but some perplexities: Casato, Annamaria Cammilli, Leo Pizzo, Yoko London, Giovanni Ferraris, Djoula, Facet, Crivelli
No comment: Coronet, Sutra, Butani

Messika with Gigi Hadid

From Messika capsule collection Move Addiction with supermodel Gigi Hadid ♦ ︎
Messika is a jewelery Maison among the most famouses in Paris. Gigi Hadid is a front-page supermodel. Together they sign a collection that is a variation on the classic theme in Messika: jewels with small moving elements. In fact, the collection is called Gigi Hadid Move Addiction and celebrates the tenth birthday of Move’s mother collection, designed by Valerie Messika.
Originally the collection was designed by Valerie in mind the memory of when, as a child, she played with diamonds: her father is a stones merchant. But with time, the collection has evolved, as to the capsules conceived with the model: Gigi Hadid is, of course, portrayed with wearing bracelets, rings and earrings of the new line. As in the now-historical Move collection, the pieces are made of 18 carat gold and diamonds, the home’s specialty. The four basic shapes are varied on the basis of the color of gold and the addition of diamonds, with or without pavé. Jewelery also has a close relationship, with a punk style, as in paper-shaped earrings. Alessia Mongrando

Messika moves for three

Messika presents three new pieces for the classic Move collection. With a unusual inspiration ♦ ︎
She has been moving for ten years, but she is not yet tired. So to celebrate the anniversary, Valerie Messika has thought of making room for Move, the most famous of the Parisian Maison, with three new pieces. They were presented at Couture and it is a necklace, with a wide mesh chain, one  ring and one cuff. They are all in gold and, like the rest of the jewels of the now classic Move collection, they have three diamonds that move.
Since everything has its own story, the Move collection also has it. The three diamonds are a reminder of when Valerie was a child and her father, an expert gemologist and trader of diamonds, gave her three stones to play with. Hoping, of course, that she do not lose the stones. Those three diamonds have been the inspiration for an infinite set of variations on the theme of moving stones within jewelery. The idea liked it. And now, Valerie Messika has decided to take another step forward: the two rings are dedicated to two characters. Ring Ron is named in hommage to the sculptor Ron Arad, while the Pei cuff has a link with architect Leoh Ming Pei: sinuous curves for the first and sharp corners for the second. Cosimo Muzzano

In Cannes a Jewelery Festival

Festival of Cinema or Jewelery Festival? In Cannes, infinity catwalk with dream jewels ♦
New list of images from Cannes. Gold, precious stones and, of course, movie stars who braved the heavy burden of wearing dream jewelry (we’re joking). The lion’s part is made by Italian and French jewelers. Among the first, for example, there is Damiani, Maison that it was chosen by Eva Longoria. The actress wore the earrings and the masterpiece bracelet of the Notte di San Lorenzo collection in white gold and diamonds on two occasions: Philipp Plein’s party and L’Oreal event.

But among the Italian brands also there were Bulgari, with jewels worn by Emily Ratajwkowski, Emly Blunt and Naomi Watts, Buccellati with Amanda Steele, or Repossi, with a necklace worn by Emma Stone.
Among French jewellers, it was obviously Chopard (it is Swiss, but also French speaking), a long time partner of the Festival, to dominate the scene. Among Chopard’s many stars, for example, there were Charlize Theron, Poppy Delevigne, Araya Hargate or Juienne Moore can be mentioned, as well as Rihanna, who presented her collection in conjunction with the Maison directed by Caroline Scheufele. But they did not miss the Boucheron (Letitia Casta) or Messika (Sara Sampaio) jewels.

The roaring collection by Messika

High jewelery by Messika dedicated to women, the Twenties and to revolution of manners. And to the diamonds, of course ♦

Messika, a name that translates as diamonds. Valérie Messika, is the designer who in Paris continues her father’s tradition, most linked to the precious, brilliant, exclusive precious stone.
At Baselworld 2017, Messika presented a new exceptional collection of unique, fine jewelry, which she describes as “modern and emancipated, inspired by the irresistible charm of the festive Paris of the twenties.”
A period of history, the one from 1919 to 1929, the “Roaring Twenties,” which is also remembered for the changes culturally and socially, but also for the way of life, especially for women. “They mark the advent of modernity,” says Valerie.
Isadora
The jewels line has so called to tribute to a woman who has marked the time. As Isadora Duncan, the dancer and choreographer who invented modern dance. She has dedicated to her an extraordinary necklace, which required 600 hours of work for the construction. It is composed of 139 diamonds with pear cut for over 42 carats. The Isadora necklace is accompanied by a cuff, with a cascade of increasingly pear cut diamonds for 13.50 carats, and asymmetrical earrings.
Ritzy
At the Hotel Ritz in the Place Vendome they stopped all the greats of the last century. Its rooms overlook the most crowded square of the biggest names in jewelry. Not only: the word ritzy in English means elegant, glamorous, and derives from the atmosphere that is breathed in the hotel. Elegant as Ritzy line by Messika: a necklace with 89 diamonds, this time with emerald cut, which looks as a round neck with tie. And then earrings, and a toi & moi ring.
Swinging Paris
The Swing is not just a musical rhythm, but also that of the Roaring Twenties. Messika remembers them with a cascade of 127 diamonds oval cut and others 2,407 diamonds gathered on a necklace. The realization of this piece of fine jewelry has required more than 1,200 hours of work, even for the accuracy with which they were chosen stones. The largest, mounted as a pendant, it has a weight of 3.26 carats. The mount is almost invisible, a truly outstanding job. The set consists also a toi & moi ring, always with oval cut diamonds, and a pair of asymmetrical earrings, even those with oval diamonds.
Flappers
The line has a chocker and a pair of earrings with a very Art Deco design with well marked geometric lines. The diamond necklace with diamond and emerald cut that alternate in a play of light that brings out a central stone: an emerald-cut diamond 2.06 carat (EVS1) faceted. By the way, flapper is a term indicating the generation of young women in their early twenties began to wear shorter skirts, hold bobbed hair, listen to jazz music and to question the conventions.
Madeleine
Madeleine Vionnet was a French fashion designer, creator of one of the most prestigious haute couture houses all of France. Messika dedicates to her a series of jewelry, starting from the necklace composed of 446 (four hundred forty-six) marquise diamonds, ending with a bigger stone pear cut 4 carats. The series is defined as a foulard of diamonds, but it is a simplistic description. In this line also belong a earcuff, a bracelet and a double ring, always with marquise diamonds.
Roaring Diamonds
Roaring Twenties is a phrase used to indicate the decade that has revolutionized the costume. And this gave the cue to the Maison for congegnare a necklace with diamonds pear cut, but with the tip pointing downwards, next to marquise cut diamonds. Different sizes of diamonds are together with a very dynamic effect, not easy to achieve. Of this range also includes a pair of earrings and a bracelet. Margherita Donato

Messika, Move to design

The favorite collections of Valerie Messika, the Parisian designer queen of diamonds.
Messika, French company dedicated to the cult of diamonds, returns to Baselworld with his fine and high jewelry. Obvious: Valerie Messika, who continues his father’s work André, is certainly not the only one to grapple with diamond jewelry. However, if the history of the Parisian jewelery brand continues since 1972 there is a reason: the absolute quality in the choice of stones, especially the cut, and a surprising originality in the creations, while remaining in a classical realm. With this philosophy that combines a very modern design, with an enhancement of the traditional creativity, Messika has built its reputation. Not by chance has extensive adhesion between actresses, singers and top models. For example, even if the diamond is the king of the house, the House does not deal to propose the classic solitaire. He prefers to focus on original forms, such as the Move collection, which has become a sort of flag: the diamonds are mobile within the golden rails. This combination is adopted for one or three diamonds for rings, necklaces and bracelets. It is also one of the lines proposed for 2017 in the new advertising campaign starring the model Lena Perminova. Lavinia Andorno

The Dolce Vita of Messika

Messika, Parisian brand was born in 1972 and now led by Valérie Messika, he is inspired by Federico Fellini’s film La Dolce Vita, and the sixties. Following this line, the communication campaign in 2016 for the second consecutive year has as ambassador Malgosia Bela. The model is depicted by fashion photographer Mikael Jansson and artist, who has exhibited at MoMA in New York and Spiral Garden inTokyo. The choice of the set is the same Valérie Messika, creative director. At the center of the images, however, there is no the model, but diamonds lined up on the jewels of the Maison. The brand, in fact, is famous for the choice and supply of diamond jewelry. In the pictures parading collections as Skinny, Glam’Azone and Angel. There is space also to High Jewellery with the Madison bracelet, and necklace tribal style Maya, which alternates three rows of stones with different cuts and processing.
