The Mattioli’s Chips

Chips: mini collection of Mattioli in white or pink gold and diamonds. But with chips have not to do with ♦ ︎
It may happen that you want some Chips, but not for eat. Chips, in fact, is the name of a capsule collection by Mattioli. And, in fact, the shape of a bracelet, earrings and ring recalls that of the thin round slices of fried potatoes, like those that are bought in bags. Needless to say that, in addition to the name and the voluptuously rounded shape, with two circular shapes that touch each other, the jewels have nothing in common with the real chips. The jewels are made with a thread of white or pink gold and white diamonds. For the type of realization Mattioli compares this mini collection with another, Tibet, inspired by the thread of Himalayan life. Who knows, maybe also in Tibet they like Chips. Alessia Mongrando

Baselworld: win or flop?

Baselworld 2018, number of visitors unchanged. Here’s who is happy and who is puzzled among jewelers ♦ ︎
It depends. The final judgment on Baselworld 2018 can be summarized as follows: it depends. Because the Basel Watch and Jewelery Fair (22-26 March 2018) had two faces. One is the one summarized by two numbers: 1300 and 650. The first is the number of exhibitors, already declining, in 2017 (there were 1500 in 2016). The second is the number of exhibitors in 2018, less than half. A massacre. «A selection», he prefers to call it the managing director of Mch, the company that organizes Baselworld. But, in fact, it depends on the points of view. Faced with such a drastic reduction could have been much worse. The final balance of Baselworld 2018, in the words of the organizers is, if not exciting, at least sufficient. The number of visitors, for example, “has remained stable”. Since the fair lasted two days less, this is considered a success. At the moment we do not know the number of buyers present. 4,400 journalists came to Baselworld, 15% less from Europe, but 5% more from Asia. And if many big brands, such as Festina or Dior, this year have defected the Basel fair, Breitling, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Swatch, Chanel and Gucci have already announced that they will also be present next year, from 21 to 26 March 2019 .
And exhibitors? The opinions are different. Again, it depends. Among the opinions collected by gioiellis.com among jewelers, prevails a lack of enthusiasm for the new formula “concentrated”, which for some is “sad” when compared to the atmosphere that was breathed until a couple of years ago. But at the same time, many have confirmed that commercial activity has not been lacking and, therefore, the presence in Basel still has a reason for being. From the comments collected during the fair, we can summarize the mood:
We are equally satisfied: Fope, Pasquale Bruni, Nanis, Alessio Boschi, Tamara Comolli, Picchiotti, Messika, Mattioli, Rivière
Everything is OK, but some perplexities: Casato, Annamaria Cammilli, Leo Pizzo, Yoko London, Giovanni Ferraris, Djoula, Facet, Crivelli
No comment: Coronet, Sutra, Butani

Mattioli’s candies

/

The Candy collection by Mattioli: rings, necklaces and earrings with small cabochons on pavé diamonds ♦ ︎
From painters to sweets. Licia Mattioli’s passion is not only for great art, to which she has dedicated numerous collections in the past years. Now also ticks for sweets, which are transformed into jewelry and, in particular, in rings, necklaces and chandelier earrings. The new collection of the Maison of Turin is called, in fact, Candy.
Candies more for the liveliness of the appearance than for the shape, which has the well-defined style of the brand. The rings recall, in fact, those of the Reve_r collection, but this time with the stones arranged in a traditional way, like small cabochons to punctuate the surface of the jewel. In short, no longer the sharp back, the so-called culet of the stone, but the upper part, rounded and soft. There are nine pieces in all, with pavé of white or black diamonds and stones such as amethyst, blue topaz, sea water, peridot. They are lively, tuned to the beautiful season. But, beware: do not eat them. Lavinia Andorno

The Licia Mattioli dream

The Rêve_r collection by Mattioli, which highlights the hidden part of the stones. Citrines, amethysts, diamonds, peridots, rubies: all the gems show the posterior cut. Now with new additions ♦

In addition to Antea collection of which we have written Mattioli presented at Baselworld Rêve_r, now renewed, a collection that plays on different semantic levels. That is, it has a name that can be read in many ways. We begin to say that in French the word means rêve dream. And that, again in the language of Balzac, rêver means fantasizing, while revers means the reverse. The dream was born from a trip to Brazil Licia Mattioli, who was enchanted by the gems encased in the stones of the geodes. From this geological freak of nature comes the Rêve_r collection. The result is both a dream that a reverse play, since the stones set on the rings are arranged so by popping up from the surface, as if they were blooming out of the ground instead of digging discoveries. And, above all, they exhibit their side B. On gold and titanium, the two metals used for the rings, sprouting citrine, white and blacks diamonds, rubies. There are four versions of these rings by the pungent visibility and shades of green, white, yellow, and black-red. They are available in two similar versions, large and small, as well as a less flashy shaped faith. Monica Battistoni

Chains on exhibition

In Vicenza 80 jewels that have the chain’s protagonist ♦︎
There are chains that bind and there are chains that release. There are also chains that like. Those that are used in jewelery, for example, are the desired chains, especially if bracelets or necklaces become original, precious objects with a precise identity. Alba Cappellieri started from this consideration, perhaps, in treating the exhibition Intrecci Preziosi. The chain between function and decoration at the Jewel of Vicenza Museum (October 27, 2017-25 March 2018). Below the glass windows of the first permanent jewelery museum there are 80 chains that from the end of the eighteenth century have marked stages in the goldsmith’s manufacture.
“The chain, binds, supports, decorates, encapsulates universal symbols, alludes to the fascinating idea of circularity, a borderless or chronological or geographical ornament that crosses the history of costume as art, ornaments and of fashion, “comments Cappellieri, who is also a professor of Jewel Design at the Politecnico di Milano. “The chains traditionally have a dual interpretation: in the negative sense they are signs of human slavery, while in positively they represent the beauty and social prestige and as such have been represented by the greatest painters of art history to symbolize universal values such as honor, fidelity, love. ”
In the exhibition there is a selection of chains made in Veneto since the Renaissance, and pieces made both craftsmanly and industrially by important Italian goldsmiths such as Fope, Franco Pianegonda, Marco Bicego, Mattioli, Nanis, Pasquale Bruni, Pesavento, Pomellato, Roberto Coin, Unoaerre, Vendorafa Lombarda, Vhernier. And next to the Maison’s signature, there are the works of designers like Giampaolo Babetto, Francesca Braga Rosa, Emma Francesconi, Stefania Marchetti, Carla Riccoboni, Barbara Uderzo, Daniela Vettori, Alberta Vita.
The Jewelery Museum, the first in Italy and one of the few in the world exclusively dedicated to jewelery, is the result of Ieg’s commitment in partnership with the City of Vicenza in promoting the cultural universe of Italian jewelry and jewelry, which the Italian Exhibition Group is recognized as a world-class player thanks to the VicenzaOro International Event. A Liaison for Licia Mattioli

The Liaison collection by Mattioli: pink gold, diamonds and onyx for a passion that not goes out ♦
Licia Mattioli, who bravely founded the Turin-based company, is a passionate of art and often combines the collections of the Maison in individual works or artists. But the jewels are not only small works of craft or, sometimes, art. They mean even passion, sentiment, link. A Liaison, precisely as the name of the new collection presented at Baselworld by Mattioli.

They are not dangereuse the Liaison by the Piedmont brand: they are made of rose gold and precious stones. A geometric element, the jumper drilled, is the one that unites the jewelry on perpendicular axes, to form ringed meshes, chains, next gold, onyx and also using white diamonds. Three colors, in short, that form the basis on which they are made necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings. Lavinia Andorno

Mattioli shining

The new crackling fireworks by Mattioli, with rings and earrings.
The fireworks do not erupt only once. Indeed, they are a sight which like to see again. So it’s no surprise that Mattioli, a year from onset (we talked about here), renews Fireworks collection. The designer and entrepreneur Licia Mattioli still uses the technique that combines the pavé with larger stones placed at the center of the rings to make the sparkling jewel. But the Maison from Turin loves pull over their collections to paintings by great artists, and this time the color reference is to the “pointillist” Georges Seurat (1859- 1891), master in turning in figures of people or landscapes paintings constructed with a patient juxtaposition of small touches of color. It also is the idea behind the pavé, which in this case are made of morganite and tourmaline, blacks diamonds, aquamarine. To the rings, also, they are earrings made with the same technique. The debut of the new pieces of the Fireworks collection was set for Baselworld 2017. Giulia Netrese

New tiles to Mattioli’s Puzzle

Puzzle, the classic collection by Mattioli, is expanding with gold elements and pink diamonds, and other motherpearl shades.
Some collections are successful. For this reason jewelers who have success with successful collections increase the number of variations around a stylistic key. This is the case of Mattioli with Puzzle Collection. The Turin-based brand that loves to inspire its production to the works of famous artists, in this case chose as tutelary deities Kandinsky, Mondrian and Calder. Genes of abstract art, creators of works that have underlying small geometric signs reproduced and combined. Puzzle is played around small tiles with rounded corners, which are used for earrings, rings, and so on. The pride of the collection are pieces like the necklace 7 ways that binds to the armband to become long necklace and be worn up to seven different ways: live chains, sound, that the woman uses and reinvented in so many ways. But, as mentioned, the collection, which is composed of many different elements, including shapes and colors, in 2017 is enriched with new pieces. The pieces of the puzzle are now in rose gold, with or without diamonds, and mother of pearl with green or bluish hue. Giulia Netrese

The gold cuts by Mattioli

The art of Fontana’s cuts rises again in Cuts collection by Mattioli: sudden fissures on gold surfaces.
The art, especially painting, has always been a source of inspiration for the Turin Maison Mattioli. After the Arcimboldo’s paintings that suggested the namesake collection, here’s the line Tagli or, if you prefer english language, Cuts. This time, with a jump of four centuries, the jewelry are ispired to informal style by Lucio Fontana, founder of the “spatialist group”, an Italian artist known especially for its cuts to the canvases that, in this way, earning a third dimension. As in the works of the famous series Spatial Concept, also in the Licia Mattioli jewelry are alternated sudden flat and surface cracks. In these cuts, at times, it is also placed a small diamond. The jewelry is made of yellow gold, white and rosé. The grooves, with a similar geometry, run through rings, bracelets and earrings. There are also pieces with a pavé diamonds on white gold. M.D.

Mattioli wide Hiroko

New pieces with diamonds for Hiroko collection by Mattioli.
Hiroko is one of the top collections of Mattioli, a Turin brand with a long tradition (we talked about here). The name refers to an idea of Japan, a simple but charming setting, overlooking the flowing water, with pink cherry petals. The jewelry form is rounded, as if it were carved from the wind or flowing water of a creek. This line of jewelry is regularly enriched with new pieces, which offer variations to the line already on sale. A VicenzaOro, for example, Mattioli has presented some new entries, presenting a collection of small diamonds in the set of ring rose gold and bracelet. We can also indicate the prices to the public: the new gold bracelet and diamond 6950 euro, the ring is around 2000 euro, while the bracelet made only in gold is about 3400 euro.

A Puzzle Ring by Mattioli

New entry in the collection of Puzzle by Mattioli.
The Turin-based Mattioli, in the sixties has launched a series of jewelry that a couple of years ago were be resumed and proposed (we talked about here). The Puzzle Collection is proposed now at VicenzaOro September with the same geometric pattern for the rings. The jewelry line has as a characteristic the ability to add and remove colors, as in an abstract painting: you can buy a whole palette and change the hue in earrings and pendants. More than a puzzle, in fact, the line was inspired by artists such as Kandinsky, Mondrian and Calder, champions of abstract art. But even if you are not masters of painting, you can combine at will small pieces trapezoidal with rounded corners that make up the collection, made with colorful mother pearl and wood. Versatility is the main feature: the necklace 7 ways binds to the armband to become long necklace and be worn up to seven different ways. The earring with mother pearl elements has a new version in plain gold, fully pavé with diamonds or sapphires. Alessia Mongrando

Mattioli continues the safari

The African Queen collection by Mattioli has been enriched this year with new pieces. Originally proposed as a name for a bracelet, with time the jewelry line has expanded to new things. The Maison from Turin launched this collection thinking to unperturbed, mysterious and secretive atmosphere of the great continent. The natural beauty and primitive forms of ethnic art are contrasting forms dedicated to animals such as snakes, polyps or elephants, which populate the collection. There are rings, pendants and bracelets in gold, but covered with a pavé of colored stones, with silhouettes that are inspired by the jewels of the Masai people. The material used is the white gold or pink, with tsavorites or sapphires and quartz, to which we add diamonds in the white version, or blacks, in harmony with the color of the continent. In particular this year debuted gekko, rose gold or white gold version and tsavorites. Lavinia Andorno

New puzzle with Mattioli

Maybe do you want to do (or make to yourself) a gift. For example, a pair of earrings. Ok, but what color? Best to go on the classic yellow gold? Or choose a shade that goes with a particular dress? Yeah, but in this way then the earrings will stand not well with others … A question that Mattioli decided to overcome thanks to Kandinsky, Mondrian and Calder. Are the three artists, masters of abstract art, the inspirers of Puzzle collection. The idea is great fun: combine a pair of earrings, ring, bracelet or necklace with a whole palette of colors with which to transform the jewels. Wood and mother of pearl colored are the components of this gem composed of many elements that can be worn alone, or applied on a bracelet or necklace. There is also a version with paved white diamonds, or a gold version with small dangling earrings, as entry level. The design of the jewels of the collection is a reinterpretation of the historic line of jewelry designed in the sixties. An updated version of 2014 is on display at the Museum of Vicenza jewelery. Mattioli is zen with Hiroko

Japan has fascinated writers, poets, painters. And jewelers: Mattioli looks to country of cherry blossoms. The Turin brand has a long tradition behind it. And so, new Hiroko collection, is marked by the elegant simplicity that is linked to the Japanese design. A linearity that, according to the Japanese culture, is synonymous with elegance and flair. It is not easy, in fact, create something essential without falling into already seen. In this case Mattioli interprets this philosophy with the proposition of the frangipani petals, tree with fragrant flowers. The jewels of the collection are in rose gold and white, colored by frosted black onyx, diamonds and white Kogolong. The Hiroko collection (which has its own Japanese name, but curiously also means rich child, or child off, tolerant, wise) goes around the rounded shape, a bit ‘like the circles that are formed by throwing a pebble in the water. Or rather those curves drawn in the sand of a Japanese zen garden. Margherita Donato

Mattioli flourishes in Baselworld

News coming from Mattioli: the historical Turin brand prepares to launch during Baselworld 2016, the Antea collection (the name comes from the ancient greek Antheios, floral). The line uses, in fact, the small flowers design, with a style that focuses on the contrast of colors: black and white, white on black. The work reminds to cameos, but with a stylized outline, very linear, which stands on frames in pink or white gold. The white color is given by agate, while black by onyx. The contrast is accentuated in some pieces, from small diamonds on the crown of small pinkie ring, or from necklaces consist of a thin chain and a pendant, and earrings. For lovers of botany: the stylized flowers have every appearance of being inspired by an orchid phalenopsis kind. Lavinia Andorno

Mattioli makes Fireworks

After the rings inspired Arcimboldo and lips reminiscent of the creativity of Salvador Dali, Mattioli opens his 2016 with fireworks. It is called this, in fact, the new collection of Licia Mattioli, who as suggested by the name of the line, presenting jewelry playing on the glowing colors. Arts are forgotten? But no, do not worry: this time the painter of reference is the French pointillist Georges Seurat (1859-1891), a post-impressionist painter who liked to compose his paintings with textures of tiny colored dots. A little ‘as with the precious stones of a pavé. In fact, the rings of Fireworks collection are made with pavé of different colors, with selected stones: morganite, tourmaline, diamonds blacks, burning citrine, aquamarine. And don’t misses the final bang, the more powerful when there is a performance of fireworks: in this case is represented by a larger stone in the center of the ring. And it will not the only news. Three kisses by Mattioli

About the mouth and lips they are exercised poets, painters and, of course, millions of lovers. Now Mattioli, jewelery brand in Turin, offers three pieces of a mini collection that are a further valuable monument to the part of the face that can give kisses. The series is called Lips and includes three rings. To present them were bothered illustrious inspirations, such as the mouth turned into a sofa by Salvador Dali. But in fact the list of lips given to a variety of uses and in arts is much longer and may include lips painted by Roy Lichtenstein in his Pop Art or even those designed by John Pasche for the Rolling Stones and become an icon. The rings shaped mouth, signed Mattioli, however, are made of white gold and green tzavoriti, blue sapphires or diamonds. These are also works of art, just that you can wear it. Lavinia Andorno

Mattioli, a paw for Scouts

The roar of Mattioli for Vicenzaoro. The brand Turin presents the capsule collection Paw & Tail devoted to “modern explorers, snappy in the jungle of the city.” In fact, the design evokes the jungle and safari: the collection is called Urban Animals, and as the shapes has tiger, crocodile and elephant. But are not the usual miniature animals: of the exotic beasts remains only the paw, clinging to a pendant to be worn around the neck or around a finger like a ring. In the first case the paw holds a cone of quartz color papaya or milk, also carved wood, which reminiscent of the scent of the jungle. Roar. Giulia Netrese

The rings are the protagonists of a adv campaign by Armando Testa: Licia Mattioli, soul of the brand, proposes the collection One in a new version. Portraits by photographer Michele Gastl, magician of the still life, the Mattioli jewels seem even more cut for a woman determined, self-confident. The collection, in addition to the rings, also consists of earrings, all pieces joined by an iconic shape: the oval. The jewels are composed of small pebbles polished, pink gold, but also of an original black gold, set with stones, which emerge as a bubbling of molten metal. Are used, jasper, brown diamonds, pink sapphires, prehnite, lilac jade, amethyst. In short, jewelry with a strong personality, just like the women to whom they are intended. Giulia Netrese
