Maison Margiela

The boot-shaped rings of Maison Margiela

//

There are many fashion brands that occasionally extend their proposal to jewelry. Usually these are fashion jewelry, that is, undemanding jewelery, as in the case of the Maison Margiela. The founder, the Belgian designer Martin Margiela, is considered a reference name in the field of avant-garde fashion. So even the novelties in jewelry arouse some interest. For example, Maison Margiela recently proposed a series of unisex jewels that recall one of the iconic products of the brand: the Tabi boots.

Presented in 1989, these boots slip on like gloves that separate the toes into two parts. Inspired by this item of clothing are the sterling silver rings, also available in a gold-plated version, which stand out for the slit inspired by Tabi boots. The rings are made in Italy and can be purchased online at a price of around $ 340. But, in addition to these unisex accessories, Maison Margiela also offers less whimsical jewels dedicated specifically to the female audience.

Atelier Swarovski goes Pilotto

Peter Pilotto joins the Atelier Swarovski club, the luxury accessory line created by the Austrian brand in 2007. An example of contamination between fashion, jewelry, architecture and design result of collaboration with the world’s leading designers: from Maison Margiela to Mary Katrantzou, Karl Lagerfeld and Zaha Hadid, just to name a few of the more than 60 people that have demonstrated by their style the infinite creative potential of crystal. The one of Pilotto, a British designer beloved by the UK celeb, including the wife of the Prime Minister Cameron, is sculptural and statement. It’s inspired by nature, not by chance that the collection is named Arbol, but also by modern art with intricate and kaleidoscopic branches of Swarovski crystals. Sparkle of frames of elongated and thin lines as famous kinetic sculptures, or embedded in metal colorful thanks to the rhodium finish. The effect is that of a jewel characterized by a lively dynamism of shapes with strong aesthetics, but easy to wear. There is chocker composed of many crystals assembled like molecules, the necklace with a more floral design, cuff in bright shades of red and orange, even if is  Fall/Winter 2016 collection, the bracelet with a graphically and contemporary lace. Definitely original,  the collection will be available in stores from September. Maison Margiela, simple complications

The high fashion, sometimes, is a bit ‘quirky, and extends increasingly the brand in the jewelry business: among the big names that have made the plunge is also Maison Margiela. The former Maison Martin Margiela is a luxury brand founded in 1988 by Belgian designer, who gave his name to the brand. Today is part of the Italian group Diesel. Known as signature avant-garde, with a preference for deconstructed garments, from October 2014 Maison Margiela is led by John Galliano, creative director. But, as mentioned, by time it is also active in jewelery, of course with a style consistent with that used in the clothing. You can find rings that seem to come directly from a crucible or, on the contrary, pieces as double rings, with disarmingly linearity, but actually with curves studied carefully. Brass or gold, crystals or diamonds does not matter the material they are made of the jewels of the Maison, but the design that stands out in its complicated simplicity. Here is a selection of jewelry offered by the brand, including the new line Anamorphose. Margherita Donato

(Italiano) Sfilate: i bijoux in passerella

Sorry, this entry is only available in Italian. For the sake of viewer convenience, the content is shown below in the alternative language. You may click the link to switch the active language.
