With futuroRemoto Unconventional Jewelery on the catwalk

Fashion and jewelry: it is the story of a friendship destined to last for a long time. The list of stylists who have collaborated with jewelry designers is numerous and to this is now added the capsule collection called Unconventional Jewelery created by Ennio Capasa in collaboration with Gianni De Benedittis, founder and soul of the futuroRemoto brand. The jewels of the collection appeared on the catwalk, on the occasion of the Milanese fashion shows.

In homage to another fashion, which this time concerns a social aspect, jewels are indicated as genderless and fluid. Men or women are categories that, at least in the fashion world, seem to have less and less meaning. The Unconventional Jewelery is made of ethical silver and gold, blue Thaitian pearls extrapolated with sustainable systems and is made and distributed by futuroRemoto.

The symbolic dreams by futuroRemoto

///

An old Italian film from the 1950s was called It’s not true … but I believe it. The story revolved, with humorous intent, on superstition. Little has changed since then: the amulet remains, in Italy and in the rest of the world, one of the favorite types of buyers. “Who knows it doesn’t really work?” And so almost all jewelers provide a version of lucky charms. A new contribution to the idea that a small metal sculpture has who knows what powers comes from FuturoRemoto, an Apulian brand founded by designer Gianni de Benedittis.

The Dreamers’ Room is a collection that uses ancient symbols such as the pentacle pendant, a symbol of strength and beauty, the two-tailed Milk Mermaid (in the Middle Ages they believed she converted her milk into gold), the protective lions of the world, the Wheel of luck with the signs of the zodiac and the phoenix, back in the news with the Harry Potter films. The jewels are in gold-plated silver, but on request it is possible to obtain a version made entirely of yellow metal.

Even in this case, however, there is a film involved, that of presenting the jewelry collection, directed by Stefania Rocca, leading actress Serra Yilmaz and the participation of Gabriele Greco.

The moths of futuroRemoto

/

Moths: small flying animals that have inspired, with different results, poets, painters and, now, even jewelers. The futureRemoto Apulian Maison, in fact, presents new jewels in a line entitled Falene (moths). Not surprisingly, these small representatives of the fauna return to populate the air during the spring and summer. They are also romantic symbols of lightness and transience, even if for entomologists, moths are simply insects which, like butterflies, belong to the order of lepidoptera. But this is a consideration that does not involve common opinion, which considers moths mysterious animals due to their habit of flying at night. And if there are those who associate these insects with bad omens and doom, Native Americans, on the contrary, have always considered moths with great regard for their ability to adapt, survive and transform.

General considerations aside, the collection created by Gianni De Benedittis includes bracelets in the shape of dragonflies, branches intertwined with small flowers and insects, butterfly rings, with movable wings, operated by the fingers. The jewels are in silver and gold, decorated with enamels of various shades.

Jewelry for sports with futuroRemoto

///

In the game of tennis, the smash is a shot that is made by intercepting the ball above the head, with a quick downward movement very similar to that of the service. Pam. And the ball runs to the opposite field. Or it turns into a jewelry collection. Like that of futuroRemoto, the brand of designer Gianni De Benedittis, who, to make the jewelry line more convincing, fielded actress Stefania Rocca, complete with a tennis racket.

The Smash collection, of course, is inspired by sport not only as an opportunity for physical well-being. But, underlines the brand, also as a meeting place, for the growth and formation of the soul, for a sustainable and inclusive development of different identities. The collection consists of 15 pieces designed in 3D. The jewels are made in the shape of small human bodies with muscles defined by exercise tension and some gym equipment such as weights and dumbbells, so not only tennis is privileged. There are also scales, which become hanging. The jewels are in silver and gold, to be personalized with the application of diamonds.

The carnivorous jewels of futuroRemoto

Carnivorous plants become the subject that inspires the Carnivorous collection of the futuroRemoto by Gianni De Benedittis ♦ ︎

It is a paradox: while the number of humans who choose to be vegetarian and do not eat meat is growing, there are plants that are carnivorous. They represent almost a revenge against the animal kingdom, a bridge between the two worlds. And, precisely for this reason, they fascinate everyone, jewelers included. The Carnivorous collection by Gianni De Benedittis is dedicated to these plants capable of swallowing naive flies. A collection presented at Milan Jewelry week, of which the designer with his Maison futuroRemoto is special guest.

The pieces of the Carnivorous collection are all in silver and gold, designed in 3D and made with the precision casting technique. Carnivorous plants are also enriched with emeralds, rubies and diamonds. The shape of the jewels recalls that of the plants to which they are inspired but, obviously, without being a naturalistic reproduction of the plants.

Another counter-current collection is Bacterium, inspired by micro-eating plastic organisms, reproduced in jewels: small silver spheres with a gold bath, always made with the technique of casting and the use of colored enamels, with peduncles to form rings and bracelets, or pendants and earrings.

Furthermore, on Friday 25 October 2019 De Benedittis will proceed with the assignment of the futuroRemoto Jewels Prize, established in collaboration with Artistar Jewels (the winner will receive a cash contribution plus a trophy consisting of a gold ruler made for the occasion). The prizes are destined respectively to an artist of Artistar Jewels and to a student of one of the schools participating in the Milan Jewelry Week who will have distinguished themselves for their excellent mastery of the goldsmith’s technique and for the attention to the needs and trends of the fashion system.

In October, the first Milano Jewelry Week

In Milan, in October, the first Jewelry Week with exhibitions, awards, designers ♦ ︎

Milan is the italian capital of business and, therefore, one should not be surprised if someone can create something new. As in the jewelry industry. Prodes Italia, for example, is a company that organizes and promotes events founded by Enzo Carbone a decade ago and that, in 2012, launched Artistar. The exhibition, initially conceived as a competition for avant-garde designers, so not for jewelery companies, has evolved over time. Artistar has managed to involve not only a patrol of more or less extravagant jewelry makers, but also designers of greater depth.

Edizione di primavera di Artistar Jewels 2019
Edizione di primavera di Artistar Jewels 2019

And now the competition has turned into a event with a demanding name: Milan Jewelry Week, scheduled from 24 to 27 October. It is the first edition and includes about 50 events in high jewelery ateliers, goldsmith workshops, academies, schools, art galleries, fashion boutiques and design showrooms in the city center. We must not misunderstand: this is not a replica of VicenzaOro in Milanese format, even though, perhaps, Prodes Italia would not mind expanding the horizon also to the jewelery industry.

Orecchini di Bianca d’Aniello

The Milan Jewelry Week provides, instead, collective and personal exhibitions, exhibitions of galleries and international schools, workshops, performances, temporary shops and “prize-giving evenings will give multi-faceted interpretations of the history and technique of the goldsmith’s art, demonstrating its timelessness and, therefore, contemporaneity ”. The idea is that of a bridge between the world of fashion, of which Milan is the Italian capital, and that of jewelery and art design.

I am really proud to see such an ambitious project materialize, which we have been planning to realize for many years and that finally, in 2019, will see its first edition. My main objective has always been to create a happening for all the experts in the sector, which at the same time made this fascinating world discover even to a wider audience. The success gained over the years by Artistar Jewels has given us the opportunity to intercept the need to give the right emphasis to the world of contemporary jewelery, in strong expansion in recent years, seeing in Milan the perfect city to welcome avant-garde and new trends while continuing to enhance the tradition.

Among the group exhibitions, an important role will be played by Artistar Jewels 2019 Fall Edition, an international reference event dedicated to body ornaments now in its seventh edition. The event, which in its past editions, has hosted important creatives, including: Giancarlo Montebello, Philip Sajet, Yoko Ono, Pol Bury, Faust Cardinals and Gillo Dorfles will feature the creations of over 160 international artists and designers at Palazzo Bovara in Corso Venezia 51.

Two other events will also be held at Palazzo Bovara: Schmuckgalerie Silbermann, which will bring a spin-off of InFlux, an exhibition that started at the Munich Jewelery Week 2019, in which 12 pieces by Edwin Charmain, Katharina Kraus, Elisavet Messi and Lingjun Sun “will encourage a conversation about the evolution of goldsmith craftsmanship and investigate current opportunities” and Assamblage-National Contemporary Jewelry Association (Romania) which will present Belonging / S, a special interactive jewelry and photography project.

A most recognized jewelery company will instead be represented by the brand FuturoRemoto, with the founder Gianni De Benedittis who will present Carnivorous, the new Spring Summer 2020 collection.

FuturoRemoto, nature is cyber

///

The cyber world meets nature in the FuturoRemoto ︎ jewelery collections ♦

For a brand called FuturoRemoto what better ambassador can there be more than one android? In fact, time ago, in Rome, during the symposium of digital geopolitics organized by Elettronica Group, here is Sophia, a completely digital guest star. It’s an android that speaks English perfectly and loves fashion. At the event roman it was presented itself with a high fashion dress signed Gattinoni and made by the creative director of the historic fashion house, Guillermo Mariotto. And with a wide and futuristic cyber necklace created exclusively by the goldsmith Gianni de Benedittis: a kind of planets orbiting around the neck sculpted with meteorite stones coming directly from the United States. And De Benedittis is the founder of

FuturoRemoto, a small jewelry Maison born in Lecce, Puglia, South of Italy.

In the FuturoRemoto collections there are also rings with the shape of aliens and earrings inspired by space adventures.
The choice to adorn the neck of the android Sophia, therefore, proved to be right. But the designer of the Lecce brand is not focused exclusively on cyber subject. His jewels, which can be simply silver plated or gold and precious stones, are also inspired by other themes, such as nature and the fashion world. The spring 2019 collection, for example, also includes a ring with the shape of a grasshopper. Margherita Donato

FuturoRemoto on the fly

From the capital of the Baroque of Italy in Vicenza Oro: new jewelry of FuturoRemoto by Gianni De Benedictis.
If you want to find the Remote Future go in Puglia. The apparent contradiction, sophisticated, is been created by the laborious mind of Gianni De Benedictis, the way of the Italian South to jewelry design, which chose Lecce as a city in which to live and work. From this secluded corner of Italy, between the sea and the baroque churches, he managed to win an amazing visibility. Surprising for decentralized location where he is, not for the result of his work that in 2010 won an important stage, when her jewels were chosen by director Ferzan Ozpetek’s for his film Mine Vaganti and, later, to some representations of Aida. De Benedictis has another specificity: he loves the kinetic jewelry, that allow movement to some elements. Perhaps for this reason he chose as the name FuturoRemoto, an oxymoron that refers to something of the past but that is in the making. But not only: among the best known pieces of FuturoRemoto there are also proposals that have a significant irony, as the Food Collar, with a fork that rolls up spaghetti. Or the PortaRispetto Ring, The Godfather that’s in you. Gianni De Benedictis has instead shows Falene collection. Lavinia Andorno
