It was he, who passed away in 1960, who founded Faidee, a high-end jewelery house specializing in rubies. Roop Chand Lunia was a gemstone trader, known for his collection of rare and exceptional stones. But he especially fell in love with the red Burmese gem, one of the rarest and most valuable. For this reason, the company founded by Roop Chand Lunia is called Faidee, a name that means good luster, shining, in the Thai language. Faidee specializes in one stone, the ruby: it offers the most colorful, impressive and, of course, expensive gems.

Burmese rubies are the most sought after for their quality. But it is rare that many stones are used together as in the Imperial Necklace, an exquisite necklace, which was shown in preview, worn by a Russian model, by Ravi Lunia, director of Faidee, the largest Burmese specialized company in rubies. The occasion was an exhibition at Hotel Hermitage in the Principality of Monaco dedicated to Burmese ruby. The rubies of the necklace have a “pigeon blood” color that is considered the most intense hue. Red stones, all of the same quality, weigh about 130 carats, and are assembled together with colorless and perfect diamonds. The Monaco exhibition includes over one hundred jewels made of Faidee stones, with unheated Burmese rubies. Hotel Hermitage until August 21st. The imperial necklace contains 50 rubies, with eight gems weighing more than 5 carats each. The rubies exposed in Monte Carlo are part of a personal collection covering four generations. At Baselworld, the company presented The Grand Phoenix, a necklace that consists of 24 jewels pigeon blood for 59.83 carats, with colorless 100.21 carats diamonds, D color and FL clarity. The necklace is composed with diamonds pear cut or marquise compounds around the rubies as if they were open wings of the mythological bird rising from the ashes. “The Great Phoenix is ​​an outstanding masterpiece: a flawless rubies collection covering over four generations. His grandson, Rajeev Lunia, is now head of the family. Christie’s and Sotheby’s have sold jewelry from the private collection of Faidee at record prices: Ratnaraj ruby, with a 10.5-carat stone and diamonds was sold for 10.2 million dollars, the Mogok’s Fiery Red in September was sold for 10.3 million, and the ruby ​​and diamond necklace the Red Emperor was sold at Sotheby’s for 9.9 million, a world record.
