A CFO for Damiani




Damiani calls a new manager with the aim of strengthening the financial management of the jewelry group. With this goal, the Valenza-based company called Claudio D’Ambrosio to head the Finance division. The manager, after having achieved a degree in Business Economics at the University of Florence with full marks, began his professional career at Ernst & Young, first as an auditor and later as a Capital Markets Senior Manager, managing and structuring strategic projects for international level including capital increases, stock exchange listing and mergers and acquisitions, the latter an experience that could prove useful to the Italian company.

Mimosa blooms again. And it is not only that of the flower symbol for Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 8 March. Instead (but the coincidence about calendar is no coincidence) it is the Mimosa by Damiani collection. Launched a couple of years ago, it now the collection adds new variations on the theme. The new jewels use yellow gold with white, fancy and brown diamonds, pink gold with white diamonds or white gold with white diamonds. But the design remains the same: that of apparent chaos. This is the name given by Damiani to the apparently casual arrangement of prongs mounted on brilliant-cut diamonds. In short, a bit like mimosa flowers.

The jewels of the collection, in fact, resemble small bouquets of diamonds. Needless to say, it is actually a chaos full of order. The design with up and down stones, empty and full, with the addition of diamonds of different sizes, manages to make an irregular and regular volume at the same time. In addition, an internal flexible core allows the jewels to be anatomically enveloping in order to adapt to the body.

Damiani has appointed Andrea Ferrazzi as head of the Digital department. Objective: to strengthen and further structure the digitization process already underway in the Group. Sales, even for the jewelery sector, no longer pass only through the traditional channel, that is, the boutiques. For this reason Damiani plans to strengthen and develop an e-commerce and omnichannel platform for all the brands of the group (in particular, Damiani, Salvini and Bliss). The goal is the consolidation of the digital presence in all markets and of the CRM (customer relationship management, i.e. customer relations and management) for the development of a digital customer experience integrated with the retail network, which allows enthusiasts to view at any time (and anywhere in the world) a wide selection of creations, including through new digital experiences organized with excellent partners to promote the heritage of the brand and related products.

Damiani shines in Korea




Damiani is strengthened in South Korea. In the wake of the double-digit growth recorded in 2020 in the Asian country, the Italian brand has decided to strengthen management in the region through the appointment of a new general manager: Eunice Kim, who already has experience in brands like Chanel and L’Oreal. Eunice Kim will be tasked with implementing Damiani’s development strategies in Korea. The company’s growth in Korea is also linked to investments in stores, with openings in Hyundai Main and Shinsegae Daegu, but also with a new space for luxury at Hyundai Pangyo. Last, but not least, the Italian brand has opened a new boutique on Lotte Main Avenue in Seoul: the most prestigious store in the Lotte chain and one of the best department stores in the country.

Damiani has a close relationship with Korea, witnessed during the triumphant night of the 2020 Oscars, when Parasite was the first non-English-speaking film to win the Academy’s most prestigious award for Best Picture. Hearts and diamonds, a couple that makes the couple feel good. A heart-shaped jewel in gold and diamonds, in fact, is usually intended to strengthen the understanding between two lovers. And it is precisely for this that, in view of Valentine’s Day, the Salvini brand (Damiani group) proposes the Bagliori (means glows) collection. As the name suggests, the collection focuses on the brilliance of the diamonds that make up the surface of the jewels which are, precisely, heart-shaped.

The 2020 collection, in tune with that launched in 2017, reinterprets a goldsmith creation created by the founder, Enrico Grassi Damiani, which was inspired by the beauty of Queen Margherita of Savoy: the first Queen of Italy was known and celebrated for her refined style, her regal bearing and her decisive character. The Margherita collection is characterized by a floral element, made entirely by hand: the design is linear, geometric, embellished with selected gems. The jewels use white gold and diamonds, but also rose gold, brown diamonds and amethysts and finally yellow gold, diamonds and citrine quartz. The collection includes a ring and pendant-brooch created thanks to the combination of pink gold, pink sapphires and morganite. The pendant and earrings of the collection are in white and yellow gold, with a central fancy diamond surrounded by petals made of white diamonds. Agreement between Damiani and Fosun to grow in China




The Chinese Fosun Group (over 93 billion dollars of revenues) has signed an agreement with the Damiani Group. The result is the establishment of a company between Damiani and Yuyuan, a subsidiary of Fosun, which will handle the distribution in China (including Macau) of two Italian brands: Damiani and Salvini. For Damiani, which is already present in China, it means the possibility of greater penetration in the Asian market.

Indian jewelry auctioned in Milan with Il Ponte




An auction featuring Indian jewelry is not ordinary. But this is exactly what the sale program organized by the auction house Il Ponte in Milan for the 2nd of July provides. There are about 500 lots on sale, among which a brand new collection stands out, the result of the activity of a traveler who, like a true pioneer, bought Indian jewelry years ago whose characteristic manufacture is enhanced by flat diamonds, decorations with enamels, pearls and gems.

The appointment also includes the sale of jewelry from large Italian fashion houses, including Pomellato, Bulgari, Buccellati, Chantecler, Cusi, Damiani, Vhernier, as well as international brands such as Tiffany & Co and Van Cleef & Arpels. A section of the auction is dedicated to antique jewelry, including a double broche in white gold and platinum finished with diamonds (lot 886, estimate 2,600-2,800 euros). And more, the auction catalog lists coral jewels, sea-scented jewels and summer atmospheres, with two pink coral boules necklace (lot 642, € 3,300-4,500 estimate) and red coral (lot 636, € 1,600-1,600 estimate). Finally, among the lots there are also diamonds and natural pearls.

Damiani D.Side rings (and images of the young Brad Pitt)

After having renewed pendants and bracelets, Damiani has completed the new edition of the D. Side collection with some rings. Jewelry enthusiasts probably remember that the D. Side collection was born in 2001, with the collaboration of Brad Pitt and the Valencian masters goldsmiths of Damiani. A relationship that had already started the previous year, when the American actor (it was 2000) also appeared in Damiani’s commercial footage that you can see on this page.

After 20 years, therefore, Damiani has renewed the D. Side collection with the use of the intense colors of the hard stones, now also for the rings. The lateral setting of the gems links the two circles and suggests the name of the collection. A pair of concentric rings, joined by brilliant cut diamonds, in Brad’s intentions, becomes a symbol of two parts united in one. In short, a couple. On the base in gold and diamonds are set mother of pearl, malachite, lapis lazuli or onyx. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets are made in the same style.

Damiani’s Spicchi di Luna collection is divided into many versions as the crescent moon, each for a different woman ♦ ︎
If the woman has been approached to the moon by poets and writers, there is a reason. Okay, the coupling can also be read as the usual bias indicating the feminine side as changeable, like the lunar phases. But it’s not just that. The moon is also mysterious, fascinating, perfect. And the Spicchi Di Luna collection by Damiani reveals, perhaps, just the best side of the feminine character, the precious one. But declined in different perspectives: for class evenings, for extraordinary events, but also for a daily luxury, to wear without prejudice.

The design, says Damiani, comes from a thorough technical and stylistic research: the shape consists of a sequence of golden ray, slightly rounded, evokes the perfect union of the different phases of the moon. The segments seem to blend together, but with different results: with a pavé of sparkling white diamonds, with fancy diamonds, with a yellow to brown hue, which add an extra shade, or with white gold and natural stones, such as sunstone, quartz fumé or onyx. The collection includes for each version a ring, earrings and bracelet, but the one in yellow gold also includes a necklace.
Some prices of the Spicchi di Luna collection: the rose gold necklace and onyx 1,980 euros, rose gold earrings and onyx 2,190 euros, yellow gold ring 2,490 euros, yellow gold bracelet 3.580 euros, white gold earrings and diamonds price on request, white gold and diamonds ring price on request.

Damiani take the field against coronavirus




Damiani also makes a contribution to deal with the coronavirus emergency. The company has decided to make 12,000 square meters of what will become the next headquarters of the Group Manufacture available to the Civil Protection in Valenza (Alessandria, Italy), so as to support the authorities in the extraordinary activities made necessary by the health emergency. The building, ex Palafiere, was recently purchased by the Damiani family to be transformed into a production site, so as to be able to maintain the goldsmith’s manufacture of the group’s brands in the territory where the company was born as a workshop in 1924. The spaces will be able to possibly used as a field hospital, homeless shelter, materials warehouse or for what the authorities deem useful.

In this moment of great concern and declared emergency, my brothers and I have decided to make a concrete contribution to the hospitals so that they can continue to have the necessary equipment to save people’s lives. Furthermore, after the first donation of over 100,000 euros, others will follow, for the SS Antonio e Margherita hospital in Tortona, indicated by the Piedmont Region as the first Piedmontese Covid Hospital, to the SS Antonio, Biagio and Cesare Arrigo of Alessandria, at the Santo Spirito of Casale Monferrato, the Sacco of Milan, the Pope Giovanni XXIII of Bergamo, the hospital of Padua, the Spallanzani of Rome, the Santa Maria di Loreto of Naples, the Policlinico of Bari and the Cannizzaro of Catania, in addition to donating a share at Humanitas University in Rozzano to support scientific research in the Convid-19 area.

By purchasing a Damiani or Salvini jewel, a Venini object, either in the specific brand platforms or through the Rocca e-commerce, but also by investing in a Calderoni diamond, the company will activate further donations in addition to paying the buyers a discount, which can also be donated to the body chosen by the end customer to support, for example, the hospital in its territory.

The Group has also decided to pay homage with a Bliss jewel to all the doctors and nurses working tirelessly in the Tortona hospital, which as required by the Piedmont Region has been transformed into Covid Hospital, to thank them symbolically for the great work they are carrying out and with the intention of giving them a smile. Damiani has also activated an insurance that can represent concrete help in case of hospitalization for Covid19 or in need of home care for its employees.

A new set for Damiani’s D.Icon collection

The D.Icon collection is one of the major successes of Damiani fine jewelry. According to the Piedmontese Maison, the collection represents the most recent evolution of the goldsmith’s art: the Damiani craftsmen of Valenza have introduced hi-tech ceramics in the traditional processing of gold and diamonds, creating an elegant and fascinating collection, with a modern and exclusive design.

The collection was presented years ago and is continuously renewed. For example, a set was recently announced that includes two rings and a pendant in the black ceramic version with D in pink gold or in full pavé of white diamonds. The shape of the rings and the pendant is the usual one: an enveloping design and, thanks to the ceramic, also pleasant to wear, with the classic D that becomes the hallmark. In addition to rings and necklace with pendant, the collection also includes bracelets and earrings.
