The candy jewelry from Swarovski

//

Hypothesis 1: the creative director of Swarovski, Giovanna Engelbert, is on a strict diet. She has forced herself not to eat sweets and is in terrible pain. Hypothesis 2: the creative director of Swarovski, Giovanna Engelbert, is skinny as a nail and feeds exclusively on candies, pastry and whipped cream. Whatever the right hypothesis, the creative of the Austrian Maison has created a mini collection that is perhaps inadvisable for those suffering from diabetes: Dulcis. As the name indicates in Latin, the jewels in this line are inspired by the favorite food of almost all women and even men, the sweetes. More precisely, the jewelry resembles the shape of soft candy.

It goes without saying that, on the other hand, they are made of metal and solid crystal and it is not advisable to try to swallow them even if you are prey to a fit of hunger. Dulcis includes seven pieces: two rings, two pairs of earrings, two choker necklaces and a pendant necklace. The rings are in iridescent colored metal, and sunken in the center is a cushion cut Swarovski crystal. Its inner band is in the same shade. The inspiration is that of the pop art of the Sixties, perhaps with a touch of MasterChef.

Crystalline outfit with Antica Murrina

//

The Murano crystals, in the Venice lagoon, are transformed into rings, bracelets and necklaces with Antica Murrina ♦

A few kilometers from the Venice lagoon, in Olmo di Martellago, Antica Murrina designs and produces its bijoux inspired by the ancient Venetian glass. Pearls worked by hand according to the age-old tradition of craftsmanship, crystals, colors: the company founded in the eighties combines the charm of the lake with the uniqueness of the crystals. The typical processing of Murano glass, in fact, means that each piece is a little different from the other with inclusions of bubbles and different transparencies, the result of craftsmanship. But that’s not all: Ancient Murrina also uses the most modern Swarovski crystals.

The result is necklaces, earrings and bracelets made in red, silver, blue and gold. The glass treated according to a process developed over time, is combined with steel and silver or gold leaves. The prices are quite low: the necklaces do not exceed 150 euros. For the FW 2020-2021 season Antica Murrina proposes the Diva collection.

Spectrum Shine, the rainbow by Swarovski

//

A rainbow for the summer, sparkling like Swarovski crystals. In fact, it is a rainbow made up of crystals from the Austrian company: the Spectrum Shine jewelry line incorporates the entire range of colors on its jewels. The Spectrum Shine line thus joins the tropical trend that has almost monopolized the creativity of the Maison for spring-summer 2020 and which we have talked about on other page of this site. The jewelry in question uses simple rhodium-plated metal, which gives the surface a bright patina. The crystals are consistent with the source of inspiration, the rainbow, and are therefore very colorful.

The Spectrum Shine line includes a rivière-type necklace (the most expensive piece: 449 euros) which features numerous faceted Clear Crystals from Swarovski, of different sizes to scale, earrings, two pins and rings. Among the proposals there is also a set of two rings that can be worn simultaneously, or individually. There is also a ring to be worn on three fingers.

The rocky jewels of Kimberly McDonald

Kimberly McDonald sells her jewelry in her boutique located on the legendary Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. But more than at the studios, the American designer is attracted to rocks. Or, more precisely, from the geodes, that cavity found inside some rocks of a tendentially spherical shape, and which are covered with crystals. These minerals are very beautiful to look at and Kimberly thought of using them for her jewelry. Also because the designer is convinced that the stones hide a natural energy.

The designer started her business in 2007, after a career as a consultant for high-level jewelry collectors. Kimberly loves nature in all its forms, from animals to rocks, which are often used in an almost raw state together with recycled gold and diamonds, a tribute to sustainability. The fact of using crystals and almost rough rocks also has the consequence of making the jewels unique. Quartz’s geodes, and opals or agates are the three favorite stones. Michelle Obama, Cindy Crawford and Cameron Diaz are three of the celebrities who appreciated the designer’s jewels.

Atelier Swarovski by Assoulin

It’s name is Jewel-y McHue-y and is a collection of Atelier Swarovski that combines crystal and fashion with the same aesthetic spirit of its designer, Rosie Assoulin, the New Yorker designer known for modern lines with retro influences. She possesses an encyclopedic understanding of fashion, with a past experience at Oscar de la Renta and later at Lanvin, and for the debut in 2016 Swarovski Collective she chose classic setting, those typical of Georgian era. In England in the ‘700, under the reign of George IV, diamonds and colored stones were set a jour, in open-backed settings that allowed light to illuminate the stones, the earrings were dangling, while gemstones necklaces upswept hairstyles and graduated diamond riviere chockers were set on silk ribbons. In the Assoulin’s 12 pieces there is all of this mixed with modern and colorful materials, bold Swarovski crystals, in the most unusual hues, such as blue denim, orange sapphire Padparascha, the dark green moss. Two new Swarovski for 120 years

Swarovski is 120 years old and is celebrating the anniversary with two new cuts for crystals: an edelweiss and the number eight placed horizontally, the symbol of infinity. The first, is a tribute to the roots of the company and its founder Daniel Swarovski, brilliant inventor in 1892 of a machine for cutting and polishing the famous Bohemian crystal, with a very high degree of perfection. Being born in one of the major centers of production and processing of glass, Bohemia, in fact, have helped the young Swarovski, but it was a trip to Vienna and visiting the Exhibition of electrical items to give the idea that would change his life. So just twenty filed a patent for his mechanical grinding; three years later, in 1985, he was born in Wattens in the Tyrol, the factory. Another few years and the process was joined by the mass production of perfect stones and bright thanks to a special blend tested in its laboratories in the Austrian Alps. And the flower of these mountains, the edelweiss, name consisting of words and noble white, first logo of establishments Swarovski, is the inspiration behind the new top model in the pre-autumn-winter 2015/16. If the  Edelweiss embodies the heart and soul of the Austrian multinational, the second cut, Infinity, however, is a more abstract concept, with facets that sparkle ideally through time and space in the splendor of the eternal endless knot . While the past and future are intertwined. Lavinia Andorno
