The bubbles of Morellato

Round spheres attached to rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets: the Boule collection by Morellato. Images and prices ♦ ︎
Bolle. Spheres that shrink, grow, oscillate. Bubbles like those you do when you dive into the sea. But they are bubbles that do not burst. Because they are elements of jewelry: rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings from the Boule collection by Morellato. A simple but perfect element: the spheres of this collection are also round in price, which is super accessible as in the philosophy of the brand. The bubbles are used on chains formed by small steel balls, over big or in the slimmer version, in rose gold version or in silver finish. The bubbles can be silver, pink gold, but also green or red. Some price: a bracelet with a rose gold-colored bubble 49 euros, a necklace with a silver-colored pendant 29 euros, earrings with a red bubble 39 euros. Alessia Mongrando

A waltz with Sven Boltenstern

In the old Vienna, a designer follows the family traditiont in the footsteps of her father Sven Boltenstern. No waltz: the style is absolutely modern ♦

Goldsmith and sculptor in the romantic Vienna. But not only think of Strauss waltzes: Sven Boltenstern has created a brand that bears his name, thoroughly modern. He was in activity of the seventies to the nineties, and the jewelry company is now run by his daughter Marie, who has preserved the style and the lightness together with the elegance that is typical of the Austrian capital. Born from the architect Erich Boltenstern, Sven in the Fifties followed the classic route that starts from apprenticeship as a goldsmith, he followed lessons at the Academy of Applied Arts (now University of Applied Arts Vienna) and then go to Paris, where he studied at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs 1956/1957. Ten years after, he had already acquired a reputation beyond national borders, with works exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 1993, the Künstlerhaus hosted a personal exhibition. But, as mentioned, it is now the daughter Marie to sign the jewels of Austrian Maison, which often use the technique of metal (gold) hammered, along with stones like tanzanite and citrine. The ice age of Stenzhorn

The Ice Age (Ice Zeit) seen from Stennzhorn and presented at Baselworld, among baguette diamonds, carré and brilliant cut ♦ ︎
In a rather cold Basel, Stenzhorn presented a new jewelery line, Ice Zeit. The ice age to which it refers is defined by diamonds, one of the classics of the German Maison. The entire collection, which has its most important piece in Storm necklace, made with the three lines discontinuous, is based on the play of brilliant cut diamonds, baguette and carré. The stones are also emphasized thanks to the invisible frame with a technique developed by Stenzhorn. According to the German company, with this type of setting the necklace becomes like a second skin: the technique was developed by Stenzhorn and is called, in fact, 2nd Skin. The new collection consists of necklaces, rings and bracelets, which are reminiscent of ice crystals. The Stenzhorn brothers founded Stenzhorn House of Jewelery in 1979 in Boppard, an ancient German city between the Rhine and Moselle rivers. And now the company is getting ready to celebrate its first 40 years.
The new jewelry collection is, however, in the style of the Maison, which today counts on three different production sites. For example, Muse, a collection launched last fall, which always sees diamonds at the center. Giulia Netrese

Cannes, here is the high jewelry de Grisogono

High jewelery signed de Grisogono for the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Here are the first exceptional pieces ♦ ︎
Among the fixed presences at the Cannes Film Festival there are not an actor or a director, but a jeweler: Fawaz Gruosi, founder of de Grisogono. The Geneva Maison in 2018 celebrates a quarter of a century. And the 25 years are destined to be celebrated on the red carpet with new creations of fine jewelry. As is tradition, de Grisogono does not present luxury jewelery which go unnoticed. On the contrary, the style of the Geneva brand includes strong contrasts, extra bright stones, and as usual, between white and black diamonds. Among the six pieces of high jewelery, which you see on this page, for models and actresses is also reserved the pleasure of wearing an Allegra ring, collection which debuted in 2003. The ring includes a pear-cut diamond of maximum quality: color D, FL clarity, weight of 5.34 carats with claws coated with brilliant cut emeralds. A decidedly out of the ordinary piece. There is also a wavy necklace with 247 carats of rubies on blackened rose gold, six brilliant cut diamonds from 1.50 to 3.80 carats. A piece without doubt exceptional. But that’s not all: in Cannes the Maison de Genève is getting ready to show off other jewels, stay tuned. Giulia Netrese

Giovanni Ferraris, nature is Bella

The Bella collection by Giovanni Ferraris, beautiful like the colors of nature and the dew drops ♦ ︎
What is beauty? The question, at first glance, seems silly. But it is not. First of all beauty is the result of a set of aspects, quality, parameters. Furthermore, it can vary over time from one culture to another. There are, however, some canons of beauty that seem immutable or, at least, are recurring over the centuries and common to different cultures. One of these beauty models is linked to nature and colors. Difficult to find cultures or people who do not find the nuances of a landscape fascinating. Or, as far as jewelery is concerned, the colors of precious stones.
Combine the two concepts: jewelery and aesthetic sense, and here is the Bella collection by Giovanni Ferraris, seen at Baselworld 2018. The Bella collection is, in fact, beautiful. Play on what are the basic colors of jewelry, namely those of sapphires, rubies and emeralds. Blue, red, green. To which are added the white of the diamonds and the shades of gold, white or pink. Even the shape of the jewels recalls that of nature, with drops that form long spikes or small ovals scattered like wildflowers. Note the detail of the drop-shaped setting in burnished gold. Precious Nexus with Qayten

A collection to be framed: Nayus by Qayten on the stage of the Couture in Las Vegas ♦ ︎
Nexus, Latin word meaning link. A friendship, for example. Or, even closer nexus, a bond of love. This concept of connection has inspired one of the most voted Italian companies to innovation, creativity and originality in the world of jewelry. Also these concepts, for the Bolognese Qayten, are ideas that have a link. And Nexus is the name of the collection that the brand has decided to bring to the Couture of Las Vegas, one of the world’s stages where the most precious, and even the most daring, jewelry designers are compared. The collection includes a bracelet with leather strap, but also a ring and a princely necklace.
The jewels are made with diamonds that frame blue-purple tanzanites, in a tzavorite weave woven with an imperceptible thread by the hands of skilled artisans, to seal a bond that holds the eternity of works of art. About nexus: Qayten is a Sanskrit word, the ancient language of India, which means “origin”. And it is from a origin of something that a nexus is generated.

One heart and two hearts, one love and two loves: the common thread of life is also, not surprisingly, one of the most used icons of jewelry and bijotteria. And it is also the icon of the Mad Love collection of S’Agapò, a brand of the Bros Manifatture group that stands out for super affordable prices and simple materials, such as steel, in silver or pink, and crystals, in this case used to pavé. As always, the prices are very low, as they are accessories to wear without problems: a necklace in 316L steel, rose gold pvd with hearts and white crystals costs 34 euro, hoop earrings in 316L steel with hearts and white crystals 24 euro . Fish speak with Stephen Webster

The pendants inspired by the sea animals of Stephen Webster: how to make fish talk ♦ ︎
It is said that the fish is mute. Error. A fish can also compose stories thanks to a pendant necklace, word from Stephen Webster. It is the idea of the London rock-chic jeweler for his younger customers: a collection, Fish Tales. But, more than stories of fish, they are letters of the alphabet linked to a different kind of aquatic animal. The lettere O, for example, stands for octopussy. And so on.
The collection is curiously inspired by the memories of the designer’s childhood holidays spent in Blackheath (south of London) or on the Thames to catch mussels and clams. And to accompany the collection, Webster wrote a short book inspired by his passion for marine life. In short, from the shells to the rest of the fauna that lives under the waves: the 26 pendants are composed of a letter of the alphabet intertwined with the silhouette of a fish in 18 carat yellow gold and diamonds. The price of each pendant is 875 pounds. Lavinia Andorno

Bliss’s first love

The gift for the first love with Bliss’s Primo Amore collection. Earrings, ring, necklace in white gold and diamonds. Images and price ♦ ︎
If, as the saying goes, the first love is never forgotten, then even the first jewel of the first love will remain as the first memory. The Bliss Primo Amore collection thinks about young people who know each other, like each other, get together and, almost inevitably, make gifts. The collection is presented in 2018 with some additions, which makes it richer and perhaps more romantic: flowers, stars, hearts are the forms of love and collection. Which comes with jewels that are worthy of a gift of some importance and, above all, of a first love: earrings, necklaces and rings are made of white gold with small, but bright, diamonds in the center. In short, the classic combination for jewelry related to feelings or important events. The first love is often accompanied by a not yet perfect realization in the world of work. The collection, for this reason, is suitable for those who must or want to keep the bank account under control: prices start, in fact, from € 299 to go up to € 359 for earrings that have more than one diamond. Flowers and wind for Pasquale Bruni

///

A parure as soft as the wind and as sweet as flowers: Flora and Zephyr, from the Atelier Vento collection by Pasquale Bruni ♦ ︎
A picture is worth more than a hundred words and a jewelry parure may be worth more than one hundred collections. As long as it is something perfectly balanced. Because a parure is a set that must play in unison, like an orchestra. Or with that delicate balance that nature is capable of when it shows a flower or a landscape. It is precisely in an open, free space that the parure presented at Baselworld by Pasquale Bruni is inspired. The new set of haute joaillerie is called Flora and Zefiro, from the Atelier Vento collection. That is the Roman goddess of flowering and the wind of mythology: a natural compendium that is made of leaves in white gold and diamonds (the zephyr), which embrace the leaves in rosé gold (the flora).
As always, between the myth and the poem, the images that inspired the creative direction of Eugenia Bruni, who never gives up adding a brushstroke to comment on her collections: «Love is like spring among the wings of the wind», it is her signature to the set, composed of earrings, bracelet and ring. Soft jewelry to wear, like flowers and wind. Giulia Netrese

Butani in the empyrean

///

Butani in the sky of jewelry with Empyrean, between diamonds and precious stones ♦ ︎
At Baselworld 2018 Butani presented the Empyrean high jewelery collection. This is a novelty compared to the tradition of the Hong Kong Maison. According to Butani, the collection is a shock to who the idea that high jewelry is to be worn ever in combinations. In short, Empyrean is aimed at a younger audience, or at least with a less traditional taste.
But this is certainly not unimaginative jewelry. On the contrary, it is a collection of great impact, which draws greater strength from the novelties presented by Butani: in addition to the usual round diamonds with brilliant cut, this time Butani chose to make necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings with diamonds in the shape of pear, fancy and precious stones, including ruby, emerald and sapphire. The result is a collection that has great visibility. Includes pendant earrings and earcuff, bracelets with diamonds designed to be individually or together, according to the needs, necklaces in the shape of thin diamond choker or with pendants of precious stones. The nuances of unique stones in Picchiotti’s Essentially Color collection ♦ ︎
Light is essentially color. And color forms the world through our eyes. So, in a logical sequence, the world is color. And it is a world of nuances that are brought together in Essentially Color, a rhapsody of fine jewelry signed by the excellent Maison Picchiotti, tradition of Valence and international design, seasoned by the perfect Piedmontese courtesy. The new collection Essentially Color introduces is based on a classic models, but at the same time renewed by the refined choice of stones, chosen for their uniqueness. Like in a painting, even in jewels the nuances are everything.
Rings and pendants are made with diamonds next to a rare rare (untreated) amethyst, green tourmaline and peridot, as well as tanzanite and Paraiba with a cushion or pear cut. The combination of the special colors of the stones and the combination of jewelry design make Essentially Color a very special collection.
«Working with colored gemstones is a matter of love, passion and dedication for me», is the comment by Giuseppe Picchiotti, founder of the brand. «Spending a lifetime in search of nature’s greatest treasures fulfills me in a deeply personal way». Giulia Netrese

Royal Wedding with Yoko London

Royal Wedding Collection: Yoko London is inspired by the royal family with a family of exceptional pearls jewelery ♦ ︎
If the word London appears in your name, can you be insensitive to what happens in Buckingham Palace and surroundings? Of course not. So Yoko London launches the Royal Wedding Collection, inspired by the British royal house. With perfect timing, given that the pearls, the specialty of the London Maison, were also among the preferences of Princess Diana. Prince Harry’s mother, and now also him is arrived at the time wedding.
Pearls, ok. But those of Yoko are not any simple pearls. They are pearls with a capital letter P. Even those in this collection, which is royal, in name and in fact. The collection includes some chokers, like the one Diana often wore, and bracelets. There is also a scalloped collar necklace, with over 70 pearls graduated by size. All seasoned with diamonds, which also brighten the opacity of the pearls. For the jewels, also Tahitian pearls were used, in a palette of gray turtledove, petrol blue and violet, some of considerable size. They would worn by a queen. Giulia Netrese

Raspini chained in Oxford

//

Silver in Oxford with the chains of the collection signed by Giovanni Raspini. Images and prices ♦ ︎
It’s nice to stay in chains in Oxford. Provided that the chains are in silver. And that they are part of the collection that Giovanni Raspini has dedicated to the famous British university city. Also this choice is probably connected to the opening of the first Raspini store in Great Britain in London. The Italian jeweler specializes in silver objects, which ennobles through collections that are never dull and constantly evolving. Although, as in the case of Oxford, these are simply chains.
The individual jewels are characterized by a set of overlapping oval mobiles and are joined by other smaller elements. The chains are made entirely by hand, rhodiumed to make them brighter. Raspini recommends wearing more than one at a time, not only to increase sales, but also to achieve a very strong stage effect, as evidenced by the model chosen for the launch of the collection. Some price: the Oxford loungette big 750 euro, small necklace 440 euro, the medium bracelet 140 euro, the torchon bracelet large 370 euro. Alessia Mongrando

Fope with Eka even more Tiny

/

Fope renews one of the most successful collections, Eka Tiny ♦ ︎
There are several news presented by Fope for the new season. But, in reality, the jewels of the Maison of Vicenza do not live for short periods, like summer moths. On the contrary, Fope’s collections are among those destined to become classics to be handed down from mother to daughter. Yet they are not even simple rings or necklaces of traditional shape. Not only because they have a well-defined style, but also because they have a hidden and patented technology. Those who buy a jewel of Fope know that they can wear it even if it increases (or loses) a few kilos, thanks to the Flex’it gold mesh: a system that hides dozens of micro springs inside the jewel and manages to make a ring or a bracelet not only flexible, but also soft. Voilà.
The Eka Tiny collection, which debuted in 2007, is part of this successful line and now, after having retouched the design, it is enriched with new pieces. The 18 carat gold chain is easily recognizable, but totally new, thinner but absolutely resistant. The Eka Tiny Flex’it collection presents both the gold washers with diamonds and the new pavé set round elements, which can be matched with matching necklaces, rings and earrings. Very indicative prices, given that they also depend on the amount of gold and diamonds used: a rose gold necklace with pavé diamonds costs about 2300 euros, a simple bracelet in white gold about 800 euros. The Romeo & Juliet collection by Brosway, images and prices ♦ ︎
Did Romeo and Juliet really exist? Apparently not, they are exclusively born in the imagination of William Shakespeare. But, in spite of historical reality, the story of two lovers broken by family feuds and united only in death, continues to fascinate millions of people and attract crowds of tourists under an unlikely Juliet balcony in Verona. Romeo and Juliet are the protagonists of this collection proposed by Brosway, the brand of Bros Manifatture. Brosway’s bijoux are rather simple and above all have a super affordable price. The collection is composed by three steel necklaces and four bracelets with two intertwined steel and gold pvd rings with engravings on the back and Swarovski crystals. Prices: from 34 to 49 euros. Daniela Villegas, surprising necklaces

/

Four necklaces that will surprise you with the imaginative designer Daniela Villegas ♦ ︎
Let’s face it: it’s not enough to be creative. To be amazed you have to be imaginative too. And if there is a woman who manages to combine creativity with imagination is Daniela Villegas. The Mexican designer based in Los Angeles prefers themes related to nature, the strong colors of her native land and the animal world, especially that of insects. But not only. Sometimes she leaves the subjects and she prefers to venture the new worlds. As in the case of the Odudua necklace, inspired by an African goddess of the earth, which promotes love and life. The necklace is made of 18 carat yellow gold, with vintage glass African pearls, brown sapphires, red sapphires and tourmalines, all tied with 18 carat yellow gold.
But if you think it is the most unusual jewel of Daniela Villegas, you are wrong: here is the Beetle Tutti Frutti necklace. It is the result of the collaboration between Daniela Villegas and The Lost Explorer. The necklace is inspired by the jewel beetle, the Buprestidae family, the largest of the coleopterans. But inside it contains a double-edged knife. In particular, a nail file and a small blade to cut fruit or open an envelope. The pendant is in 18 karat yellow gold studded with multicolored sapphires for a total of 9.77 carats, hanging on a gold chain. The price is 28,750 dollars.
Another nacklace has the Body Beetle pendant. Made of 18 carat yellow gold, it was designed with the body of a green beetle surrounded by diamonds hanging from a yellow gold chain embellished with five small side gems. Not really common, right? As well as The Wild Necklace, necklace from the Into the Deep collection, inspired by ocean fish. The necklace synthesizes a coral reef, with anglerfish. It is made of 18k rose gold and is decorated with champagne diamonds for a total of 1.10 carats, spessartite, a large cowrie shell and two South Seas pearls. Margherita Donato

The Aurora of S’Agapò

//

Bracelets and necklaces easy signed S’Agapò for the Aurora collection ♦ ︎
It is not certain that the name of a collection corresponds exactly to its style. The Aurora collection by S’Agapò, brand of the Bros Manifatture group, adapts to the jewelery line proposed with this name, but without a precise overlap. To cut a long story short: you can choose Aurora bijoux even without thinking of wearing something that has to do with the early morning. What does it matter? Nothing, in fact. The jewels line consists of steel necklaces and bracelets, in some versions with yellow gold pvd, with star or heart shaped pendants with elements in turquoise paste and crystals. Modular prices, as in the philosophy of S’Agapò: single strand necklace 32 euro, double thread 46 euro, bracelet 29 or 39 euro. Alessia Mongrando

Nanis doubles with Dancing Reverse

///

Nanis’s Dancing Reverse: two-sided jewelry, to be changed in a few moments ♦ ︎
There are emotions that are worth twice as much. The first kiss, the first slice of Sacher torte, the first ring received as a gift. And now you can also add the Dancing Reverse collection by Nanis. Because the dance of the inexhaustible designer Laura Bicego continues with new jewelry with double charm and double aspect: rings, pendants and earrings are made so you can show two surfaces. To change the look of the jewel is enough light pressure to rotate the core and show a different composition. For example, a side with a pavé composed of a mix of aquamarine and green sapphires, while on the other there is a single stone surrounded by a gold frame. The collection consists of two lines, Ocean Blue and Flower Bouquet: in the first case the jewels are in gold with blue-toned stones, while in the second one with shades of green.
The contrast between stone and pavé is also repeated with other gems, such as tsavorite, sapphires, amethyst, rock crystal or labradorite, always with the reverse mechanism. In some cases as in the bracelets, however, the contrast is obtained simply by the facing of the two solutions, pavé and a single stone, on the two sides of the gold stem of the bracelet, also in different colors. Or, as in the earrings, the contrast is entrusted to small diamonds on one side of the pendant. Giulia Netrese

The 722 diamonds of Messika

/

An extraordinary necklace with 722 diamonds (and not only) presented by Messika at Baselworld ♦ ︎
Messika is synonymous with diamonds. More: it is perhaps the Maison that most interprets the diamonds used in high, very fine jewelry, but with a modern vision, new, able to amaze. So Valérie Messika brought to Baselworld a series of extraordinary pieces, all composed of the hot glacial stone loved by women (and by diamond collectors). We’ll talk about it in the next days. But among all the pieces stood the necklace inspired by haute couture. And a collection dedicated to the Little Mermaid (a dream when the designer was a child), but the necklace is rightly defined by Messika as majestic.
Messika has aligned 722 diamonds with emerald cut in a composition that leaves electrocuted. At the top, in the middle, there is an emerald-cut diamond of 5.01 carats, while in total the carats of the necklace are 219.2, obviously all of the best quality. To give an idea, the realization of the necklace required almost 2000 hours of work, and of course it is made entirely by hand. In addition to this necklace, there are also a bracelet, a ring and a pair of earrings.
The necklace was then worn by model Sasha Pivovarova and portrayed by Katja Rawles’s lens. Result: a breath of fresh air for high jewelry. Giulia Netrese
