Bulgari Vipers

Bulgari Serpenti with new gorgeous Vipers ♦ ︎
The Bulgari’s Serpenti collection does not need any presentations: it is one of the most famous jewelery lines in the world. Constantly the Roman Maison passed under the insignia of the Lvmh Group renews its Snakes by introducing new variants (see also: New Serpents for Bulgari). Now, starting with the Asian markets, Maison has introduced new pieces of Serpenti collection inspired by the designs of the Seventies: some jewels, such as rings, also refer to a well-defined snake, viper and have a aggressive design. Necklace, earrings and bracelet are composed by a modular element.
Snake scales are as always in gold, white or pink, with diamonds and diamonds. At the center of each of these snakes there are colored stones, such as rubellite, amethyst, tanzanite and aquamarine. The amethyst, for example, has been cut into a geometry that enhances the facet, transparency and color intensity. Rubellite, tanzanite and aquamarine are cut in pear shape, similar to a drop of water. Lavinia Andorno

Michele della Valle, successful in Geneva

Success for Michele della Valle’s jewelry at Sotheby’s auction in Geneva ♦
They say art is a luxury that is not recognized to much. But selling of Sotheby’s Fine Jewels, which was held in Geneva, testifies that those who have artistic talent will receive the merited consensus. This is particularly the case with one of the best international designers, the Italian Michele della Valle. Sotheby’s had collected 82 jewels of exceptional virtuosity, which for Valle is the standard quality. And the result was right to the auction house: 98% of jewelery was sold, for a total of $ 1.3 million, ie almost three times the base estimate of the lots. A result of great importance and well deserved. It is a sign that you do not need to bet just on big collectors of diamonds like coconuts and with imaginative names to attract those who appreciate the art of jewelery.
In total, the Fine Jewels auction totaled $ 5.3 million, with 86.5% of the sold lots. Well sold also jewels by great Maison, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Bulgari. Federico Graglia

Fabio Salini: fate is an art

A small review of Fabio Salini’s extraordinary jewelery, which plans to expand his business in London and New York ♦

Fabio Salini has on his way the fate. He is son of a great entrepreneur construction, and he could afford to cultivate his passion: designing jewelry. But fate has also sent another sign: the talent. What it could have seemed a hobby of a rich young man has shown, in fact, a professional choice rewarded by success. In short, the Roman designer has earned a place among those who count in jewelry due to its ability. To begin his degree in geological sciences. First, he worked hard to Cartier and Bulgari where, in addition to demonstrating his creativity, he also got acquainted with the process of production of jewelry. After this training in the Olympus of jewelery, in 1999 he launched his first collection.

It was a success. His pieces also liked to Queen Rania of Jordan, who has worn them on several occasions. In 2004 he opened in Rome what he calls “his Atelier” where he creates and sells rings, necklaces and bracelets of its production. It is also a passionate contemporary art, so he worked with Fernando and Humberto Campana, designers who live and work in Sao Paulo. Also had international awards: for example, Salini last year won the Talent de l’Originalité 2014, set up by the Centre du Luxe et de la Création in Paris. After this presentation, take a look at his production, well represented on Instagram. He also announced that he wanted to expand his business in London and New York and Moda Operandi put him in the selected array of his designers.

By the way: to Fabio Salini we deliver our (virtual) prize for the most journalist-friendly site. They were all like him … Lavinia Andorno

In Cannes a Jewelery Festival

Festival of Cinema or Jewelery Festival? In Cannes, infinity catwalk with dream jewels ♦
New list of images from Cannes. Gold, precious stones and, of course, movie stars who braved the heavy burden of wearing dream jewelry (we’re joking). The lion’s part is made by Italian and French jewelers. Among the first, for example, there is Damiani, Maison that it was chosen by Eva Longoria. The actress wore the earrings and the masterpiece bracelet of the Notte di San Lorenzo collection in white gold and diamonds on two occasions: Philipp Plein’s party and L’Oreal event.

But among the Italian brands also there were Bulgari, with jewels worn by Emily Ratajwkowski, Emly Blunt and Naomi Watts, Buccellati with Amanda Steele, or Repossi, with a necklace worn by Emma Stone.
Among French jewellers, it was obviously Chopard (it is Swiss, but also French speaking), a long time partner of the Festival, to dominate the scene. Among Chopard’s many stars, for example, there were Charlize Theron, Poppy Delevigne, Araya Hargate or Juienne Moore can be mentioned, as well as Rihanna, who presented her collection in conjunction with the Maison directed by Caroline Scheufele. But they did not miss the Boucheron (Letitia Casta) or Messika (Sara Sampaio) jewels.

Il Ponte between Cartier and Krizia

From Cartier to Krizia: a sale of jewels other than the usual organized by Il Ponte Casa d’Aste
There is Cartier, there is Boucheron. But, above all, there are Italian jewelers for selling vintage pieces organized in Milan by Il Ponte Casa d’Aste. It will be sold jewels, but also vintage fashion. With something of unusual, a one lot of legacy of director Luchino Visconti. And a brooch belonged to Maria Cristina of Savoia, the youngest daughter of King Vittorio Emanuele I. Many also the historical signatures of Italian jewelery such as Missiaglia, Cazzaniga, Moroni, Ansuini, Calderoni, Confalonieri, Cusi, Scavia, Villa. But there are also jewels of Bulgari, Buccellati, Damiani, Frascarolo, Pomellato and Lucia Odescalchi. Among the foreign patrol are the names of Mouboussin, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany, Stern, Fabergé, René Boivin, Lacloche Frerès and David Webb.
The piece at top looks like a Cartier Art Deco bracelet, with rubies, valued up to 90,000 euros. Another unusual aspect: the jewels belonging to and drawn by Mariuccia Mandelli, in art Krizia, one of the earliest Italian signatures of Italian fashion, will be auctioned. An elegant way to introduce the last part of the auction, dedicated to clothes and fashion accessories. Federico Graglia

Liz Taylor’s jewels come back at Christie’s auction

Christie’s unveils new exceptional jewelry in the auction catalog of 17 May in Geneva
In Geneva, on 17 May, Christie’s will auction a 92 carat exceptional diamond-shaped heart, perfect. We’ve talked about here.
But that day will be for sale also many other interesting jewelry. In addition to those already anticipated in this article, there are others that the auction house has anticipated. Among them, there are some that belonged to Liz Taylor. In December 2011, Christie’s has already put on sale the collection of Elizabeth Taylor with these earrings and bracelet burmese rubies and diamonds signed Cartier. The jewels were part of the parure of jewels given to Elizabeth Taylor in August 1957 by her then husband, Mike Todd. Now are back on sale. The actress was famous for his passion for jewelry. But he was not the only woman with this enjoyable hobby. At the auction in Geneva, for example, you are selling the collection of an anonymous “elegant lady”, who apparently does not like the fame. The collection, however, is really top level. It includes a diamond necklace by Chopard, with a shaped D color diamond weight of approximately 56.03 carats pear (has a rating of up to US $ 7 million), in addition to exceptional jewelry created by Graff, De Grisogono and David Morris.
The space of the virtuous
For those who love the high jewelry, high design, there is a piece signed Jar (Joel Arthur Rosenthal) mysterious as creative maestro of jewelry. American by birth, Parisian by adoption, is considered a creative worship. Her earrings with diamonds are a delicious candy for collectors. An other talented designers is the Indian Viren Bhagat, who from Mumbai produces no more than 60 pieces a year. In the auction there will be a pair of her earrings with diamonds and rubies.
Cartier view from Éric Nussbaum
It has been recognized as one of the most eminent experts of Cartier and was hailed by his peers as “Eye”, an homage to the virtuoso level of its taste and refinement. And now the pieces of the vast collection owned by the expert, who died in 2003, are to be auctioned. It’s an interesting occasion: suffice it to say that the Nussbaum collection consists of over 1,600 jewelry and objects.
The charm of the sixties
The jewelry in Italy has experienced a moment of glory in the sixties. At the «dolce vita» of the jewel it is dedicated to a Christie’s auction section. From Buccellati to Villa or Bulgari, will be offered 40 jewels of that magical time. Federico Graglia

In Sotheby’s the jewelry is came back. The new auction is scheduled for March 22 in London and, although in the catalog (for now) there aren’t pieces to do records, still offers interesting ideas for jewelry lovers. A little, because the selection includes more than 280 pieces, a little ‘for all tastes. And a little ‘because the sale of Fine Jewels includes pieces by the famous jewelry houses such as Boivin, Cartier, Sterlé, and Van Cleef & Arpels. But, in particular, the rod will have a strong selection of pieces of designer or Italians Maison. A few names from those in the catalog: Bulgari, Buccellati, Facchini, Marina B, Masenza, Pomellato. Who really is Lucia Silvestri (Bulgari)

Who is Lucia Silvestri really, Jewelery Creation & Gems Buying Excutive Director of Bulgari and winner of the Design Awards Gem and winner of the Design Awards Gem.

An Italian in the Olympus of jewelry: Lucia Silvestri, Creation & Gems Buying Excutive Director of Bulgari, years ago she received the coveted recognition at the Gem Design Awards in New York by the Association that brings together the jewelers of the United States. What is so special about Lucia Silvestri? An extraordinary eye. In fact, she for years has chosen precious stones for Bulgari’s most exclusive collections. And to say that her is a story that began by chance in Rome, when she was studying biology at Sapienza University. She joined Bulgari for a trivial maternity replacement, and then ended up, again by chance, working in the office that deals with selecting the precious stones. She has learned the secrets of emeralds and tourmalines, diamonds and sapphires, peridots and rubies.

Lucia Silvestri (immagine da Instagram)
Lucia Silvestri (Instagram)

After almost 40 years, her career has not yet ended. As if to say that there is no need to start with a course at the Gia when the experience is formed in the field. Of course, you also need to have natural skills and a good eye. And a lot of patience: it can take up to a year for a stone to be used on a piece of fine jewelry. In fact, it is necessary to identify all the stones to match on the same jewel before starting the processing: choosing the right colors and shapes can be as difficult as winning the lottery. After so many years, however, Lucia Silvestri has the satisfaction of being able to follow the entire path, since she has become Jewelery Creation & Gems Buying Excutive Director of the brand.

Lucia Silvestri at work

It would be wrong, however, to attribute it only to an obsessive search for and choice of wonderful stones. Although it is an activity that absorbs her a lot, Lucia Silvestri also cultivates other passions: in addition to that for Rome and the Mediterranean sea, that for animals, human rights and poverty alleviation. In addition, you support an organization like Save the children.

Buccellati at top in Monte Carlo

A Buccellati ring on top in the first auction 2017 of jewelery organized by Artcurial in Monte Carlo.
It’s scheduled in Monaco the first auction 2017 by Artcurial dedicated to jewels. As always it is organized at the Yacht Club de Monte-Carlo, January 19 to 21 and is dedicated to jewelry and watches. Among the items for sale are not lacking the jewels of the big names, such as Boucheron, Bulgari, Cartier, Chopard, Chaumet, Buccellati and Van Cleef & Arpels. Among the most remarkable pieces there are also jewelry made of gold and diamonds signed Suzanne Belperron, or a set of different jewelry including a yellow gold ring with an emerald-cut diamond, 15,40 carats by Buccellati. It is the top rod piece, with a evaluation of 240 to 260,000 euros: belonged to an unspecified royal family, which obviously needs to accomplish. Soon after, always in the estimates, is in the catalog a bracelet-watch in platinum and white gold with diamonds by Cartier. Quite impressive, it has a rating of 120-150.00 euros. Federico Graglia

12 jewelery watches for 2017

Here are 12 jewelery watches that all would like to have on your wrist.
To know what time is it you don’t need a clock: smartphones and computers are always on hand to unveil the time with absolute precision. But a bracelet that, among other things, also marks the time, is something else. The jewelry-watch does not belong to the category of simple mechanisms that mark the seconds. They are an ornament, an accessory, a precious ring that encircles the wrist and do a shining. The most precious also are masterpieces of high jewelry, with elaborate scale of diamonds and precious stones, able to warm up the eyes (and wallet) who seeks them and the wearer. Often they have diamonds, with pavé in elaborate geometric patterns shape. Others prefer intricate decorations around the watch case, usually reduced to a minimum. But there are those who embarks on combinations of colored stones and even coral. Here, then, 12 watches which are mostly jewelery, to count the hours of a new year. Lavinia Andorno

Bulgari with Rome in Madrid

An exhibition with 145 jewels explores the influence (close) between the Bulgari design and the monuments of Rome.

The link between architecture and jewelery is tight. In some cases, then, it is almost ostentatious. So it’s not a surprise the exhibition Bulgari and Rome, in Madrid at Museo Thyssen Bornemisza, with 145 pieces of jewelry that show the similarities between some of the Maison masterpieces and other masterpieces such as monuments and urban organization of the Eternal City. Some of the forms as the plant St. Peter’s Square, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and Pantheon, for example, may be found in bracelets and necklaces by Bulgari. But even the old pavement in small blocks of stone can become the model of cascades of stones that form an irregular mosaic. Or the Coliseum, which, with its facade of full and empty spaces inspired a 1934 bracelet with diamonds and rubies, in perfect Art Deco style. And not forgetting the obelisks that were brought to Rome by the emperors two thousand years ago and have seen their hieroglyphics turn into snakes and symbols that accompanied the creations of Bulgari for so many years. It is also used the octagonal shape, a favorite in many monuments and Baroque architecture: a pendant with this geometry was one of the nicest jewelry gifted from Richard Burton to Elizabeth Taylor for 40 years, perhaps to relieve the shock of the age. The exhibition hosts the Bulgari Heritage Collection, which includes, of course, jewelry that belonged American actress, plus some drawings on loan from private collections such as the Baroness von Thyssen. Sotheby’s, surprises collectibles

Jewelry style, collector rings, magnificent jewels: there are last fireworks of the year at auction at Sotheby’s in December.
Lovers of exceptional jewelry, collectors of gemstones, design lover: it is the your moment. As every year, the big auction houses ring the trumpets before Christmas and, like the fireworks year-end, they reserve for the last few minutes the sound barrels, the flashes that make gape, the lights of antique jewelry and pedigree.
Licthblau collection
In New York, on 8 and 9 December Sotheby’s takes the field with two sets of sales. The first day is reserved for the Magnificent Jewels, with jewelry from the collection of George and Anne Licthblau. George Lichtblau, entrepreneur, studied electrical engineering at Princeton University before attending Harvard Business School, after which he became an innovator of optical fiber industry, founding two transmission companies to great success. It disappeared last August. Anna, also known as Gladys, graduated from Simmons College before marrying George in 1968. She died in July. The collection of jewels auctioned Lichtblau is quite wide and varied. It includes pieces by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany. In particular, Sotheby’s noted two flexible bracelets by Van Cleef & Arpels: a mystery-set rubies and a diamond bracelet (estimate dollars 125-175000) and a mystery-set sapphire and diamonds (estimate 80- $ 120,000). The mystery set is that of a patented technique in 1933 that allows the stones to be stopped without see the griffes. The collection also includes a jadeite and diamond brooch by Cartier (estimate 100-150,000 dollars) dated circa 1925.
Collection Joan Oestreich Kend
This sale is characterized by private collections. Joan Oestreich Kend was one of the first female stockbrokers on Wall Street. Grew up in a wealthy family, was always surrounded by art and antiques. The pleasure of buying beautiful things has not lost during his life in New York, in his apartment on Fifth Avenue, where she was exposed the Oestreich Kend collection. The jewels include a wide selection of famous jewels of the seventies. A highlight of the collection is a diamond ring emerald-cut 11.15 carat (estimated 425 to 525,000 dollars) and a classic set of necklace and the parenthesis clip series of Bulgari (estimated 18 to 22,000 dollars).
Gifts session
The second auction at Sotheby’s is dedicated to Fine Jewels, dedicated to those who want to buy high-quality pieces, perhaps to make a gift. There are jewels from Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier and Bulgari. But also it includes jewels of the collection of Marjorie S. Fisher and Lichtblau. Among the valuable pieces, a diamond necklace Suzanne Belperron (estimate 40-60,000 dollars). Federico Graglia

A Vie en Rose for Christie’s

A pink vivid diamond has realised 18.2 million, and earrings records at Christie’s auction in Geneva.
Christie’s celebrates this year the 250th anniversary. But the sale of Magnificent Jewels in Geneva must have made it feel younger: the pieces beaten totaled over $ 97 million. There was waiting for the top lot: the 9.14 carats diamond fancy vivid pink, pear cut. It has been appreciated: scored the second highest price for a pink diamond pear shaped sold at auction, with $ 18.2 million (16.8 million euro), approximately $ 2 million in carat. The buyer is an Asian private. There was also waiting for the birth of a historic brand like Boehmer et Bassenge haute joaillerie. The earrings Miroir de l’Amour got a new record price for an auction (17.6 million dollars, that is 16.3 million euro). The diamond necklace Le Jardin d’Isabelle, the third piece created by the Maison, was beaten to $ 8 million (7.4 million euro). Now the wait is moved to another pair of Boehmer et Bassenge earrings with diamonds of 11 carats each of which will be sold in Hong Kong on November 29.
In short, the jewelry, perhaps aided by the Christmas season, continue to impress investors and enthusiasts, with many pieces that exceed the estimates. An Art Deco bracelet with rubies and diamonds from Van Cleef & Arpels was bought for 1.3 million or four times its pre-sale estimate. Overall, 35 lots were sold for over $ 1 million. In the sale of Geneva it is also worth mentioning a diamond necklace signed Harry Winston, sold for 9.3 million dollars (7.7 million Euros), a Bulgari ring with 36-carat diamond for $ 4.3 million ( 4 million euro) and a pearl necklace with two wires for $ 2.9 million (2.6 million euro).

Marina B. is for sale

Marina B., the brand founded by the daughter of Sotirio Bulgari, could be sold at Henri Barguirdjian, former Graff.
Marina B. is on sale? The news spreads from the US. In talks to buy the Italian brand would Henri Barguirdjian, who stepped down after 16 years as Ceo of Graff North America. Barguirdjian has extensive experience: in addition to Graff, in the past he also worked for Harry Winston and Van Cleef & Arpels. If the rumor is confirmed, it would be another sale of an Italian brand. This year has already seen the passing of Stroili under the French banner of Histoire d’Or. Previously were com brand Pomellato and Bulgari to emigrate. To be precise, however, Marina B. has an Italian design, but no longer the property. La Maison, founded in 1978 by Marina Bulgari, daughter of Sotirio Bulgari, was sold out in 1996. Then it was sold again and re-launched in 2011: the brand, however, has recently seen the arrival of Giorgio Bulgari, grandson Marina, as creative director of the fashion house. He was send by Paul Lubetsky, the brand owner and also Ceo of Windsor Jewelers, one of the leading groups in the sector in the US. Now the company could change owner again. Federico Graglia

Bulgari starts with Lily Aldridge

It start the Bulgari advertising campaign with the new ambassador, Lily Aldridge.
Ciao ciao Carla Bruni. Lily Aldridge is the new ambassador for Bulgari. The model to Victoria ‘s Secret and Sports Illustrated was photographed by Mario Testino with some by Roman Maison jewelry for pictures of the new advertising campaign (in addition to a video.) For example, with a 73-carat necklace with emeralds, sapphires and diamonds, or with an oval sapphire of 13.55 carats. The new Bulgari campaign was presented in New York during Fashion Week in September, and is now ready to end up on the pages of magazines. Starting October 14. The image that comes from the photographs of Testino is different from that of Mrs. Sarkozy: paradoxically Lily Aldridge looks more Mediterranean of the Franco-Italian Bruni. Rudy Serra

Bulgari’s necklaces

Bulgari dedicates a necklace to the Spanish Steps in Rome. But it is not the only at top by the Maison.
Bulgari, Maison born in Rome, has made a necklace inspired by the Spanish Steps, after it has financed the restoration (at a cost of 1.5 million euro). But not only. For the occasion it was also announced the creation of a necklace inspired by the famous Steps. It is made from diamonds and colored gems, arranged in a geometric and floral design that recalls (with a little ‘fantasy) the steps and azalea flowers that decorate it, as every year since 1951. Chapeau: it does something for its city. The Bulgari necklace is added to the list of big necklaces brand, one of his specialties. No need to repeat the passion that have had celebrities like Liz Taylor to the Bulgari necklaces to realize that this is perhaps the form of jewelery in which the chromatic fantasy of jeweler (now part of the French group LVMH) and where mastery in the composition is more evident. Large stones, great compositions, large necklaces, all to watch. Giulia Netrese

Bulgari doubles at Sotheby’s New York

At Sotheby’s auction, was unsold a 27-carat diamond, while a Bulgari ring doubles the estimate.
Autumn surprises: what does it mean if the most precious diamond for sale is snubbed and remains in the safe? That’s what happened in New York, the first auction of Sotheby’s fall season (we talked about here https://gioiellis.com/big-in-vendita-a-new-york/). Star of the sale was a platinum ring with a diamond of 27.35 carats oval. The estimate of this gem was quite high: 2-2,5 million dollars. Despite the conspicuous dimensions of the stone, the ring has not been sold. But if the diamond did flop, the auction was stunned for some quotes that have multiplied the starting assessments. The top lot of the day, in fact, turned out to be a Bulgari ring with a sapphire cushion cut, weight 24.72 carats, surrounded by diamonds shaped like a pear. The ring was valued before the auction up to $ 350,000, and instead was beaten to 706,000, more than double.
It was not the only jewel to abduct the eyes of buyers: a suite of Van Cleef & Arpels (necklace with diamonds and yellow sapphires and blue sets 18K gold and earrings) was sold for $ 340,000. Price also booming for one of the most anticipated jewelry: the jellyfish in glass and enamel is a gold ring 18K signed René Lalique, from $ 20,000 stock was sold for 322,000. Federico Graglia

Sold the Reagan’s jewels

Sold the jewels belonged to Nancy Reagan, including some by Bulgari and Van Cleef & Arpels.
When it is said to wear an idea. Among the jewels belonged to Nancy Reagan (1921-2016), wife of US President Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) and auctioned by Christie’s in New York, there was also a Bulgari ring with the colors of the American flag . The former first lady had worn it July 4, 1986, on the occasion of the Statue of Liberty restoration. It was the highlight of the lots: the ring was sold for $ 319,500. But the gold ring with diamonds, sapphires and rubies was not the only jewel belonged to the historic couple. Drew attention a pair of earrings worn by Nancy Reagan during a visit to Margaret Thatcher in 1988, with the shape of the head of a lion, 18K gold and diamond eyes in sets with a similar shaped necklace, all signed Van Cleef & Arpels. The necklace was sold for 56,250, earrings 21,250. Nancy Reagan loved the Bulgari jewelry: a bracelet in gold and diamonds of the Roman Maison, worn during official dinners, was sold for $ 40,000, much more than the original estimate ($ 7,000).
The sale of assets belonging to the Reagan also included furniture, works of decorative art, books, memorabilia, paintings, drawings and prints from their home in Los Angeles. Throughout the sale, divided in two days, he has sold for more than 5.7 million dollars. Federico Graglia
