Quality jewels at auction in Turin. The Bolaffi headquarters will host the first major autumn sale in Italy on Thursday 12 and 13 October, in person but also online. Among the ancient jewels, two eighteenth-century devant de corsage stand out: one made of yellow gold and emeralds (lot 276), the other in embossed yellow gold and adorned with rose-cut diamonds (lot 277) similar to the one preserved at the Metropolitan in New York. Also up for auction is a precious archaeological style choker, with semiprecious stone carvings (lot 85) and a diamond and pink conch pearl brooch (lot 94). Also of interest are the sapphire and diamond clip earrings from the 1940s (lot 97) and the unheated diamond and blue sapphire bracelet from Sri Lanka (lot 98). The second part of the auction takes place online on Friday 13th and is made up of 340 lots of vintage jewels ranging from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Finally, the catalog is enriched by the interesting creations of the ceramist and goldsmith Esa d’Albisola, also appreciated by Picasso, such as the large necklace in yellow gold and green tourmalines (lot 347, based on 2,500 euros) and a unicum by Umberto Mastroianni, very significant within his artistic career as a sculptor-goldsmith: the round neck with a large round pendant adorned with mechanical elements looks like a real “wearable sculpture” (lot 454, based on 5,500 euros).

Milano ha risposto al richiamo dell’oro, ma soprattutto dei diamanti. All’asta organizzata da Bolaffi al Grand Hotel et de Milan (lo stesso in cui alloggiava Giuseppe Verdi), il re è stato l’anello in diamante taglio smeraldo di 5,29 carati, D color, purezza VVS2 (lotto 476), acquistato a 161.500 euro (diritti inclusi). L’asta si è chiusa con un realizzo complessivo di 1,1 milioni (commissioni comprese). Ok, non è un risultato paragonabile alle super aste di Hong Kong o Ginevra, ma dimostra un interesse crescente per i gioielli anche al di fuori delle piazze storiche per le vendite all’incanto.

Le altre due migliori aggiudicazioni sono state quelle di una coppia di anelli con diamanti taglio cuscino rispettivamente di 5,84 e 5,93 carati (lotto 188) aggiudicati a 60 mila euro al telefono a un cliente francese, e quella di un anello con diamante di 8,20 carati (lotto 464) che, partito da 30mila euro, ne ha raggiunti 52.500. Grande battaglia tra clienti in sala e al telefono per il pregiato paio di orecchini di Bulgari in diamanti taglio baguette di circa 20 carati complessivi (lotto 474) venduti a 37.500 euro e per l’anello in zaffiro Kashmir senza segni di riscaldamento, con montatura in platino e diamanti degli anni Venti (lotto 477) ceduto a 30mila euro, il doppio della base.

Da segnalare il successo della selezione dei gioielli firmati, come l’affascinante spilla di Schlumberger per Tiffany in forma di fiore con zaffiri e diamanti (lotto 461), ceduta a 35mila euro da una base di settemila, e i lotti di Van Cleef & Arpels come gli orecchini in corallo e diamanti (lotto 456), aggiudicati a 13mila euro.
