This ring is record

Here are pictures of the biggest crossover ring cushion cut diamond in the world. It was made by British jeweler Hancocks, using two large stones 20 carats. The diamond ring is estimated 1.6 million pounds, and is so rare that will have its own security guard in the London Maison store in Burlington Arcade, Mayfair. In Hancocks intentions it is intended to be an engagement ring. The two 20-carat diamonds weigh a total of 41.78 carats. “They are extremely rare, since they have a perfect match. The stones were cut from the same piece of rough diamond, and are truly outstanding, “he explained to Professional Jeweller Stephen Burton, CEO of Hancocks. “In my 40 years working in the jewelry industry I have never seen a pair of stones as big and well-matched as these, which originate from the same rough diamond. They are perfect in terms of cut and are comfortable next to each other.” The ring was designed by Amy Burton, 34, as part of its line Unum. Federico Graglia

Raspini, rings without memory

Giovanni Raspini, historical brand of Tuscany, is not only a manufacturer of silver objects, from jewelry to home accessories such as the picture frames. It is also an expert on the tradition that has its roots in the history of his region. For this rings, Spring Summer collection which we anticipated here (https://gioiellis.com/quattro-argenti-per-raspini) summarizes not only the philosophy of a silversmith who is no longer just a silversmith. The rings are a conjunction with the Renaissance past, revised under a Pop light. It’s possible? Yes, if you look carefully these silver rings with bright multicolored stones, mounted signet on sight. If you imagine the rings wore by Lorenzo the Magnificent, or by the sweet Beatrice Dante’s… The griffe itself becomes a decorative pattern, since it can take forms even a little ‘extravagant (texture crocodile, shagreen texture, rope, flower, skulls). If you then add the stones green, citrine, turquoise, teal and purple, we’re pretty far from silver and closer to jewel as hybrid between past and present. Rudy Serra

Bliss, rings quartet

Bliss, a brand that has so far focused on dynamism, it’s fascinated now by colors and flavors. The BeCharme collection is based on four proposals for rings with nuances of the stones in line with the spring and summer seasons. But not just colors: the jewels are proposed with a special nuance, that of perfume. Bottles of essences (purely decorative) will be presented in conjunction with jewels, by suggestion with the aromatic fantasy line. One way to say that even a ring is something extremely subjective. The collection consists of four lines: Raindrop, in which the stones are cut to drop on a gold ring in 18 carat white, yellow or rosé. There will be citrine, topaz or amethyst, cabochon cut. Price: 369 Euros. The Flower line employs three stones: smoky quartz, topaz and amethyst, in addition to small diamonds. Obviously the composition of stones reminiscent of a flower. Price: 499 Euros. The Joy line uses a special embedding of stones, colored gems and cut bezel combined with diamonds in the middle. The three rings are made of citrine combined with gold 18 kt yellow topaz mounted on white gold and amethyst turn to gold rose. Price: 469 Euros. Finally, the Love line, with stones cut heart. On gold rings 18 kt white, yellow or rosé are embedded a citrine quartz, topaz or amethyst. And two diamonds on the band. Price: 299 Euros.

You do not forget to Casato

The Roman Maison Casato is so stingy in communicating his creations, as prodigal in achieving high-class collections. The last two, landed in Baselwolrd, were called Forget Me Not and Back to Origin. A closer look from a semantic point of view the two ideas seem related: you could summarize in a “do not forget the origin’. And in fact, the Casato menu is always with the same precious ingredients: a careful selection of combinations of metal and precious stones, jewels with aligned in a classical fashion. Although, with forget me not, in the poor images that we found on an Asian site geometries are more hefty, almost with references to the ancient shields of imperial Rome. Again the memories emerge. But probably (ah, knowing it) is not the intent of the brand. With safety, instead, one can identify the stones used for the collections. Besides white and colored diamonds, there are amethyst, blue topaz, peridot, rodolite, white opal, emerald and rubies. Among the new entries there are also new pieces into the older collections, such as Boutique and Aquarius, with white and pink gold in small metal beads, with the outline of diamonds. An ever appetizing menu. Lavinia Andorno

Aneta Regel, works to fingers

“I create objects that exist either in nature or in the world of artifacts, but that, once made, are able to reflect and transmit information and feelings about the nature and my own existence”. They are Aneta Regel Deleu words, young artist based in London who won international fame (he exhibited his work all over the world). He creates sculptures using largely the ceramic. But in addition to the series of Metamorphosis, with strange colorful shapes that appear to archaeological remains of another planet, the Polish-born artist has also designed a series of rings rather out of the ordinary. It aren’t, of course, usual jewelry, but small sculptures that can be appreciated by those who love art. Enough to put on a opus to the finger. This, too, are made of colored ceramic: pink, yellow and white are the main colors. Margherita Donato

Roberto Coin in Carnaby Street

Carnaby Street evokes many images: fashion of sixties, the Swinging London, the Soho district, the Beatles, Twiggy, Mary Quant … Now to this list of famous names also adds that of Roberto Coin. The Venetian jeweler, popular in Italy, but a celebrity in the States, has decided to dedicate to the street of London shopping a jewelry collection. The pieces have a rather unusual form: they are concave. The rings, for example, have the upper part, flat and at a lower level than the crown. Within this space, the band surrounding the center stone is covered with small diamonds set in rose gold, while in the center is placed a small slab of malachite, black jade, or mother of pearl. The collection is minimal: consists of three rings, earrings and three three chains with pendants, always made in the same style. Here are the pictures. Giulia Netrese

Salvini royal Catherine

The 2016 by Salvini (Damiani Group) is full of novelties. Let’s start with the most innovative collection presented: Catherine. First is different at first glance than the classic production of the brand, even if it maintains its classic style, clean, basic. But it is also a riot of rose cut diamonds. Ten to one you’ve never heard of this type of cut. You are not ignorant, it is really a kind of facet little used: the rose cut is a kind of cutting used in Dutch laboratories in the seventeenth century. The idea was a cut that gives greater brightness to diamonds to be used in the creation of prestigious jewelry. Although it has less faces and does not have the classic back to the tip of the classic round brilliant cut, the rose cut succeeds admirably to shine, thanks to new technologies that enrich the stone with facets on the edges of the table.
After this technical digression, we explain the origin of the name of collection: it’s inspired by the jewels of the Empress of Russia, Catherine the Great. The central cut roses in the collection is connected to the diamond Orlov (that has 200 carat), stone given to Catherine with intent seducers by the count. Although carats of Catherine’s jewelry collection are a bit smaller than «monstrous» diamond Orlov, now in the Kremlin museum, nestled in the tsar’s scepter.
Fortunately, the new collection of Catherine by Salvini is available in Italy. It consists of necklaces, rings and earrings, made of a white gold frame with diamonds that surround the central gem concentric circles. Indicative price: about 1200 Euros for the bushings, from 3000 Euros up for rings, up to 34000 euro for the collier. F.G.

Sanalitro, Milan into wedges

His name is Massimo Sanalitro. He began his career years ago, working for Gian Maria Buccellati in the field of gems. Then, he worked for the Russian fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin and, sporadically, for various labels such as Armani, Cavalli, Donna Karan. He has exhibited at Bergdorf & Goodman in NY. But above all, he founded the jewelry store that bears his name, in Milan. From the cutting of precious stones, he learned 16 years, has passed its use in jewelry. His pieces are designed and manufactured entirely by hand in the workshop-showroom in Milan, in Via Sangallo, Città Studi. It uses natural stones, 18K gold, brilliant. But also other materials, as the collection Precious Woods (African ebony, cocobolo and amaranth Brazil), fitted with natural stones, 18K gold and, in some parts, brilliant. The latest proposal collection is called Simple & Sexy: consists of simple but captivating fashion earrings and rings, as described by the name of the collection. The jewel most sold is, however, a bracelet made in segments in various natural stones like crystal clear rock, the black obsidian, jade, agates: white, gray, brown, embellished with 18-carat gold and diamonds . But, since Massimo Sanalitro made all by hand, there are also many unique pieces. Among them for next summer there is a necklace large faceted aquamarine pebbles with gold and diamonds to combine with a ring one-of-a-kind fully realized in aquamarine, also with gold and diamonds. Her jewels are also distributed in Spain, USA and South America. Indicative prices: from 300 € up for the collection Precious woods, for example the ring African ebony, cocobolo of Brazil. From 1,000 € up for the collections in natural stones, 18K gold and diamonds.

Antonini, back to the future

Return to gold shiny eighties, which exists alongside that brushed, and very geometric lines Antonini with Syracuse collection (we already talked about here: https://gioiellis.com/antonini-tributo-ad-archimede) it goes on tracing to come back on the road of future. It seems a contradiction, and instead it is a philosophy. It is not even an improvisation: “From the design to mokeup of jewels it was been ten months of hard work” he told to gioiellis.com Sergio Antonini, the Milanese designer of Maison. As we anticipated, here is the variant in white gold with rabbets diamond in different sizes, new rings with brilliant files, and then the rings of different sizes to be worn on the same finger at different heights of the phalanges, long earrings in yellow gold ellipse. Incidentally, the name of the collection, Syracuse, is a tribute to Archimedes, that of geometric lines he meant a lot too. This is not, however, the only novelty of the brand with headquarters in the Palazzo Borromeo. We will show it soon.

A kiss from Recarlo

After the crowning of Sissi just a month ago (we talked about here: https://gioiellis.com/recarlo-incorona-sissi) from Recarlo it’s time of Anniversary collection. Spring, air engagements, weddings, dreams of love: the Piedmontese brand jewelry have a setting heart shape. The diamond ring is a workhorse of the brand, and now has a stem decorated with a pavé. The center stone is secured thanks to the classical four brands: between one and the other there is a little heart made in white gold, which has a slight twist: a choice that probably serves to confer a movement (to the solitaire ring) that is a shape widely used. The central diamond is proposed in three different carats, 0.5, 1 and 1.5, obviously at different prices. The earrings have the same style: in this case paved with diamonds and sinuous curves, with a central stone placed near the lobe. A shining festival, which continues in the chain with pendant comma-shaped “like a kiss on the neck,” reads the press release. Margherita Donato

Stefan Hafner on a Myriad of stones

Precious stones are sparkling like stars, they think in Stefan Hafner. And then, why not turn the lights of the night sky in jewelry? And behold, the constellations are the theme chosen by the Piedmont Maison for 2016 (we have already spoken https://gioiellis.com/le-nuove-stelle-di-stefan-hafner). So if VicenzaOro January the brand presented the Pegasus and Sirio lines, at Baselworld he has chosen to show the Myriad collection. For the truth in this case it is not the name of a specific set of stars: in astronomy myriad simply means a countless number. Star of sapphires and rubies surrounded by diamonds, gold lights and burnished tones, in short, want to generically represent the universe. Rings, earrings but also as earcuff shape, are composed of many stones cut into round, just like in the heavenly constellations. Better watch them closely, without a telescope. Giulia Netrese

Ferragamo with sapphires on Gancino

Attached to the Gancino: Salvatore Ferragamo Jewels returns to draw his famous and tested form, one of the symbols of the Maison. This time the jewelry line is called Gancino Sapphires. As we have already written, the hook was born in the seventies as an element for closing the women purses and is derived from the accessory used in harnesses for horses. Transported on shoes, printed on scarves, and subsequently processed into a jewel, now the hook in 18 carat pink gold is adorned with 18 pink sapphires, which help to make it more valuable and sparkling earrings, necklace, ring and bracelet. The line Salvatore Ferragamo Jewels Gancino Sapphires joins the Gancino Diamonds line Gancino Gold to complete the collection.

Van Cleef & Arpels: Bouton d’or

After the art deco, the Forties go firmly into the world of jewelry: Van Cleef & Arpels offers a new collection inspired by some of his historical pieces from that period. The collection is called Bouton d’or, that is, botton of gold, the name of the common flower of the grass of the buttercup family. But the jewels proposed in this reworking of his classic pieces, has little of common. First, for the shape of jewelry and, then, for the processing that is not at all simple. This setting originally was called sequins, is a complex process because it brings together so many tiny elements that make up the flowers. Not only: the materials are perforated at the center, where it commands a small round pink gold or a diamond. Rather complicated, even if the final effect is of harmony. In addition, all the pieces of the collection, from the necklace to bracelet, are soft, to facilitate the fit. The necklace, for example, adapts to the shapes of the body, as well as the cuff (slightly asymmetrical), while the earrings move following the steps of the wearer. There are also a raised ring and a pendant. The collection consists of two five jewelry parure each: one is red and the other is played on green tone. Both using rose gold: the first uses the nacre and carnelian (red). The other onyx (black) and chrysoprase (green). In addition, small diamonds (D, E or F for the color; IF and VVS for purity) increase the rate of brightness.

Chantecler in black

Black as the sea of Capri night: Chantecler is a more well-known brand, perhaps, for the bright colors, the red as coral, turquoise as sea, white as foam. Less known are its black jewels. Both in the new Capriful collection that Cherie rings, however, there are pieces made strictly in black. The stone that gives this color, so serious and elegant, is the onyx. The dark shades, in this case, makes it stand out even more on the pink gold frame and, in some versions, the pavé white diamonds: a contrast that, in fact, makes this black version of the more flashy jewelry of jewelry pink, white, red or blue of the same collections. Prices: earrings cost 2200 euro. Since on internet you can’t see this, we have therefore decided to publish even pictures of these amazing Chantecler in black. Or, perhaps, it should say en noir. For sale the diamond blue Shirley Temple

Merge a valuable blue diamond with the name of a Hollywood actress Shirley Temple. Result: it will turn a media lighthouse. And that’s what happens with the auction to be held in New York, April 19, in the Sotheby’s hall. Auction, in fact, will the precious ring which belonged to the former child prodigy nicknamed Goldilocks (it’s a fate, then, that she loved the jewelry), who died in 2014. The ring, that belonged to actress (and former US Ambassador in Czechoslovakia) has a diamond of 9.54 carats, Fancy Deep Blue. Shirley Temple’s father had bought the diamond ring in early 1940, to celebrate 12 years of the little artist and the film’s release The Blue Bird. The color of the diamond on ring. To add that then colored diamonds in this years were not were considered, as now, the rarity and therefore even more valuable than colorless gems. Diamond, cushion cut, remained in the Shirley Temple collection until his death, and has an Art Deco style. The estimate is between 25 and 35 million. We bet you will be great demand? Mattioli flourishes in Baselworld

News coming from Mattioli: the historical Turin brand prepares to launch during Baselworld 2016, the Antea collection (the name comes from the ancient greek Antheios, floral). The line uses, in fact, the small flowers design, with a style that focuses on the contrast of colors: black and white, white on black. The work reminds to cameos, but with a stylized outline, very linear, which stands on frames in pink or white gold. The white color is given by agate, while black by onyx. The contrast is accentuated in some pieces, from small diamonds on the crown of small pinkie ring, or from necklaces consist of a thin chain and a pendant, and earrings. For lovers of botany: the stylized flowers have every appearance of being inspired by an orchid phalenopsis kind. Lavinia Andorno

The Joan of Arc ring

There are also legendary rings. Not for their beauty, for the material or the stones they are made, but for their history. This is the case of ring (ensure) belonged to Joan of Arc. The ring had been stolen by Bishop Cauchon during the process to the Maid of Orleans, in Rouen in 1431. The bishop sided (perhaps well-paid) for the British. And since then, the precious jewel remained in the hands of «perfidious Albion». Until now. Because in February it came the news that the ring would be auctioned in London by Timeline Auction. And so Philippe de Villiers, founder of the Puy du Fou, in Vendée, has started a fundraiser to buy the historic ring. The Foundation Puy du Fou has thus collected 80,000 euro, but with the help of an array of donors funds have reached 350,000. And the son of the auction promoter, Nicolas de Villiers, managed to buy the ring for 376,833 euro. The ring, given to the young Joan of Arc from parents on the occasion of his first communion, will be back in France. Considered a relic, the ring is made of brass and decorated with three crosses. He recorded the letters JM, for Jesus Maria. According to legend, Saint Joan watched the ring before each battle.

Giorgio Visconti for four

Inside the Giorgio Visconti collection 2016 there are 18 lines that live its own life, each with its own look and characterization based on rose and white gold and bold curves. We have already discussed (https://gioiellis.com/le-18-anime-di-giorgio-visconti). Now we add pictures of other four: Intreccio line includes a rose gold ring with three bands with diamonds, a bangle pink gold and diamonds, rose gold earrings three bands and diamonds. Luna line is instead made up of two white gold rings, with simple, sinuous lines, with central diamond and two two bracelets in white gold with the same set. The Mistero line includes only two rose gold rings, with rounded and irregular lines, with a slit in which diamonds are found. Finally, Onde consists of two pieces: a ring from the undulating curved lines in pink and white gold with diamonds, and a pair of earrings with the same elements. Here are the pictures. Coin in time to rock

Rock & Diamonds: what better combination for an evening? Roberto Coin has named so the collection, that is one of the key innovations of 2016. And that, in forecasts, should repeat the success Poi et Moi, line which in recent years has given much satisfaction to the Venetian brand. The collection is also a nice change from the style point of view, “revolutionary design”, defines the brand, since for the first time the diamonds are combined with studs, an element that appears often on clothing related to glam- style rock of Seventies. “While soften diamonds and warm each jewel with the purity of their light, shape and bold counter is tailored for the contemporary rock girl, brave and overwhelming that they can not resist the elegance,” reads the communication of the Maison. The collection is made of pink gold with diamonds blacks, white gold and white diamonds. Prices: from 3000 euros to the thinner ring in pink gold, which costs a little ‘less than the version in white gold, to 39,000 euro of the bracelet. M.d.B.
