Jewels believe in the web. Or, rather, young jewelers and goldsmiths believe in it. For example, Giorgio Isabella, 29 years old, a boy from Crotone who descends from one of the most deep-rooted families of jewelers in the Calabrian city (four generations), is betting everything on it. Isabella promoted the first online digital district dedicated to artisanal luxury made in Italy. In particular, dedicated to young jewelry designers. Also because, the reasoning goes, markets are increasingly oriented towards reaching foreign buyers. So why not use the web, given that Italian micro businesses cannot do it alone? Together with Filippo Capitanio (26 years old, from Milan) Isabella founded the Young Jewelers Association of Italy. The idea of the network reserved for artisans, creatives, subcontractors and contractors in the sector, all young, is to transform the weakness of small businesses into a strength. «Within a few months we had more than 200 members from all over Italy», explained the young entrepreneur. Which is now launching Lux Made In, an e-commerce platform on which members can upload product images (watches, jewelery and accessories). Product descriptions will be instantly translated into five languages: French, German, English, Spanish and Russian. When a customer places an order, the portal will send the manufacturer a notification and a courier will arrive within 24 hours to collect and deliver the product. The portal receives a commission of 5-10% on the sales price.
