From July 26 to 28, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York one of the most important events is scheduled: the JA New York Summer Show. It is an event which this year celebrates 109 years (greeting).
It is also an opportunity to get to know new designers: this year are ten talents selected. They are: Esha Arya, LJD (Laura Jackowski-Dickson) Designers, Jewelery by Cari, Lauren Chisholm, Lisa Kim, Nathalie Regnier, Ruta Reifen, Sofie Cawood, Tracy Arrington, and Unhada. One of them will win the prize Mort Abelson during a special ceremony. Arya Esha creates his pieces from precious metals, but recycled, and diamonds sustainable and ethically certified. The brand name means Goddess of Truth in Sanskrit. Designer tip LJD works with gold, precious stones and “what Mother Nature has to offer,” as water, fire, earth, air and spirit. Jewelery by Cari uses silver or gold 14 carat yellow, pink or white. Lauren Chisholm combines modern design with elements and symbols. Its particular signature, a gold ball 18 carats, is incorporated in each jewel. Lisa Kim launched his first collection in 2014. It is inspired by mythology and fantasy to create high-end jewelry. Nathalie Regnier, Columbian, ethnic and combines elements inspired by natural flora and fauna of his country. Ruta Reifen has a studio in Brooklyn, and offers handcrafted jewelry in silver or 14K gold with precious stones. Sofie Cawood works in precious metals and natural materials to design what he describes as “art to wear American-made.” Tracy Arrington is based on simple shapes, mixed with movement and colored stones. She also strives to operate with minimal environmental impact. Unhada inspired jewelry and ancient lands of Asia. “The most important thing for me is that the wearer feels a sense of enchantment invisible in his daily life thanks to my pieces,” she says.
