Zancan, a brand specializing in men’s jewellery, presented a series of new products at Vicenzaoro. The Studio collection is made using exclusively 925 silver and natural stones. It is a line inspired by immediately recognizable symbols, such as bolded crosses, swords, lightning, stars and biblical numbers. The finishes are satin, for an inspiration that comes from urban culture.

Ceramik Gold, on the other hand, is a collection that uses 18-karat gold and ceramic together. It stands out for its complexity of creation and for the craftsmanship required for its creation. Eternity Gold is also a collection that plays on the development of the concept of chain, which here is transformed into complex shapes with an original design. Result obtained also thanks to the craftsmanship carried out manually by master goldsmiths in the Zancan laboratories. Bracelets and necklaces made of 18k gold are embellished with white and black diamonds. The complexity of the links, with a unique geometric and mechanical design, is the result of careful manual creation of each individual component.

Zancan genderless with Insignia 925

Brilliant prospects for Zancan jewels




Zancan’s jewels with a strong character are successful. According to what was communicated by the company from Ponte di Nanto (Vicenza), the 2021 financial statements closed with a record turnover of over 7 million euros, with double-digit growth compared to 2020 and an increase of around 5% compared to 2019. The increase, Zancan points out, is the result of several factors, including the development of distinctive collections, the geographical expansion of distribution and the push for e-commerce, inaugurated in 2017, which has had an average growth in these years of about 70-80%. The Venetian company is present in Italy in approximately 1,400 stores throughout the country, but it is above all the international markets that offer the greatest satisfaction. As regards abroad, at the moment the brand is present in over 600 points of sale: on the European market, in particular, since 2019 Zancan has focused on the development of the market of the so-called Dach countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) while for the 2022 the focus will shift to the development of the French market: there are already distribution agencies and agents in Portugal, Benelux, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.

On the other hand, Zancan’s presence in the Middle East in stores such as Levant in Dubai and Almajed in Qatar, which host major international brands, is ten years old: a strategic area in strong economic expansion, which represents enormous potential. The company therefore predicts that investments will therefore be required to accelerate. Zancan has also been present in North America for over twenty years, with a local representative and more than 200 stores. One of his next goals will be the opening of a company in the USA, in Miami, a strategic city considering that the Mexican market is also very significant and important for the brand. The products sold in Mexico, in fact, are all jewelry in 18-karat gold and diamonds and have an average selling price of around 20 thousand euros: this could be the starting point for Zancan to explore and develop the South American market. a geographical area that could prove to be particularly reactive, willing to spend on quality products and appreciating Made in Italy.

Starting from an incontrovertible fact: you can like it or not, but global sales of luxury jewelry for men reached 5.3 billion in 2017, with an increase of 22% from 4.3 billion in 2012 (data from Euromonitor International, a market research company). Of course, explains the American newspaper, the figure remains far below that for women, estimated at $ 31.9 billion in 2017. But the male jewelry is a trend that increasingly affects the budgets of companies in the sector.

In the US, for example, men’s rings generate a third of jewelery sales and are on the rise. In second place there are necklaces, usually chains, which generate a quarter of sales. Actors, rappers and successful athletes contributed to the trend, thanks to an intensive use of showy jewelry for men. There is, however, a problem: men are not (usually) used to wearing bracelets, rings and necklaces. After a few minutes they are annoyed. For this reason, there are producers who have started to offer comfort-fit jewels, that is, easy to wear. An idea that probably would not mind too many women. The trick consists, for example, in creating rings in which the metal band is arched, so that it is not completely in contact with the skin.

Many listed jewelers, such as David Yurman, have been offering men’s jewelery lines for some time.

The rings of David Yurman are also made of titanium, carbon, black diamonds and reach almost $ 8,000. And there are those, like the Italian Marco Dal Maso, who started by focusing more on jewelry for men than for women. Stephen Webster introduced his men’s line for the first time 20 years ago, and came out with a unisex collection last year. Furthermore, on the catwalks of the men’s fashion shows, big fashion brands such as Gucci, Dior or Chanel paraded models wearing showy necklaces. The Alexander McQueen men’s collection also included necklaces with black Swarovski crystals and medallion pendants.

But it seems that, apart from the larger dimensions, the philosophy that accompanies jewelry for men is also different. For example, there are many who seek jewels that have not only a decorative function, but also a meaning. This is why the American Maison Dune Jewelry introduced a collection of transparent discs containing sand ten years ago. But it is not any sand: it comes from around 3,300 specific places all over the world, such as Yankee Stadium, Dubai and Maldives beaches, or golf courses in Ireland. Robertino Zancan, a rebel character. This is how describes himself the founder of the homonymous Maison, born in the fertile province of Vicenza specializes, in particular, in jewelery for men. But not only: Zancan has long since opened the door to the women’s world, as well as those British clubs that adapted to the times after having exclusively reserved the access to men for decades. In any case, Zancan’s collections are still largely dedicated to man, a rare case in the jewelery world. Among the many lines, of which the most famous is the one inspired by the nautical world, but stands out Limited Edition collection, which at VicenzaOro September has been partially renewed. That of the collection, let’s say, is not a subject much used in jewelery. Inspired by the concept of legitimate defense, the collection includes guns of various types (of course miniature and innocuous), hand bombs (do not explode), bullets and, dulcis in fundo, skulls. Weapons and bullets are precious: the pieces are made of gold and white and black diamonds.
