The idea comes from Alo Yoga, an American company specializing in clothing dedicated to those who practice the ancient Indian discipline or, more easily, the muscle relaxation technique widespread in the West. In any case, Alo Yoga, alongside leggings and sweatshirts, now also offers a collection dedicated to those who practice yoga or meditation.

The capsule collection includes four pieces: necklaces composed of spheres of stones such as quartz, tiger’s eye, white turquoise and black onyx. The necklaces are made with 108 beads, a number that should be useful for reciting mantras. In the center is the Be Here pendant in 18k gold-plated palladium. The jewelery is made by an all-female team of Tibetan artisans and a portion of each sale will be donated to the care and education of children at the Manjushree Vidyapeth Orhpanage in the eastern Himalayas. The price is 215 euros or dollars.

Take journalism, yoga and jewelry: mix it up and add oriental spirituality. Then, free your creativity. This is how Ark, the jewelery brand founded by Ann Korman in Los Angeles, was born. A story that has, precisely, these starting points: the designer, who has worked for many newspapers of the Condé Nast group, has made a trip to India. And it was his spiritual guru who incited her to follow her destiny, that is, her passions. Three years later, Ann launched her jewelery line, November 2016. Two years later she is already on sale at Moda Operandi. The guru, it seems, was right.

Design has always been the ball of Ann Korman: after graduating in painting at Cornell University, she won the Master in Fine Arts, worked in art galleries in New York and, finally, as a fashion editor for some magazines. At the same time, she set out on the path of meditation, yoga and, as if that was not enough, she studied gemology and yoga, Kabbalah and nutrition, Hinduism and goldsmith arts. The result of this new age mix are the jewels of her collections, some of which you see on this page, which at least partially reflect the collection of her passions.

Yoga and the art of designing jewelry. This could be the title of a story about Ark Fine Jewelry, a brand founded in 2017 by Ann Korman. The designer, in fact, is a passionate yoga practitioner. Not only her: she also teaches meditation, jyotish (Vedic astrology), gemology, the science of light, Kabbalah and nutrition. Oh yeah, and she also designs jewelry. Now, for example, she presents Dreamscapes, a collection of symbols inspired by mandalas and yantra (mystical diagram). Ann Korman’s enlightenment apparently occurred while she was attending a training course in Rishikesh, India: a guru offered to teach her the traditional Vedic understanding of precious stones and the meanings of ancient Tantric symbols.

It goes without saying that Ann Korman’s jewelry is designed to have beneficial effects on the wearer. It would be interesting to know if, then, this aspiration is respected. In any case, even without magical influences, the jewels have a pleasant appearance. They are made of 18 carat gold with diamonds and multicolored sapphires, and the geometries dear to the Indian tradition are, in any case, pleasant to see, even without the need for meditation.

After graduating from Cornell, Ann Korman earned her Masters in Fine Art and spent her career exhibiting in New York galleries and briefly working as a fashion editor for Vogue magazine before moving to Los Angeles to undertake, she says, a journey to enlightenment, celebration and transcendence.

Litvak has been active in the design world for over a decade, in the field accessories as well as jewels. The Mars + Love brand, however, represents a turning point also from an aesthetic point of view, with jewels between minimalism and oriental philosophy. And, of course, the idea also derives from the convinced practice of yoga by Shelly Litvak, who for six years has been accustomed to taking a break dedicated to the exercises of this discipline.
