High jewelery among the canals, the luxurious palaces, the evocative views of Venice. Chanel has decided to transform the myth of the most famous lagoon city in the world into a collection that includes 70 pieces. The collection is called Escale à Venise and the Italian city was chosen not only for its beauty, the uniqueness of its architecture and the atmosphere that reigns in the alleys, but also because it was loved by Mademoiselle Coco, the founder of the Parisian Maison. Coco Chanel discovered Venice in 1920, after the accidental death of her great love, Boy Capel. The great French designer was fascinated, like many others, by the beauty of the city and now, 80 years later, Patrice Leguéreau, director of the jewelry creation studio, has revived those emotions through jewels.

And it is not the first time, because Chanel was already get an allusion to Venice with the Sous le signe du lion collection in 2013. Architecture and the typical elements of the city, such as the colored striped poles that serve to moor gondolas and boats, become high jewelry. In the collection, as in the Cathedral of San Marco, there are also oriental suggestions, the result of the trade of the ancient Venetians across the Adriatic Sea. As in the case of the Camélia Byzantin plastron, with yellow sapphires surrounding a flower with gemstone petals. Other jewels, on the other hand, seem to allude to the golden age of the Venetian eighteenth century. There is also the silhouette of the lion symbol of the city, made up of diamonds.

A few kilometers from the Venice lagoon, in Olmo di Martellago, Antica Murrina designs and produces its bijoux inspired by the ancient Venetian glass. The typical processing of Murano glass, in fact, means that each piece is a little different from the other with inclusions of bubbles and different transparencies, the result of craftsmanship. The result is necklaces, earrings and bracelets made in red, silver, blue and gold. The glass treated according to a process developed over time, is combined with steel and silver or gold leaves. The prices are quite low: the necklaces do not exceed 150 euros. For the FW 2020-2021 season Antica Murrina proposes the Diva collection.

Not just jewelry: the watchword of the Damiani family is to diversify in the luxury sector. The company that controls the Valenza-based company, in fact, has announced the acquisition of the latest tranche of the share package of Venini, the historic Venice brand. These are the shares that were still in the possession of the previous shareholders, some of which, Damiani points out, will continue to collaborate with the company.

The new move began three years ago with the acquisition by Damiani of the majority of the Venini brand, previously owned by Chimento, another name of the jewelry which, however, found itself in financial difficulty.

Guido, Giorgio and Silvia Damiani, grandchildren of the founder of the high jewelery brand, decided to invest in the furnace since they had identified in the values and heritage of the brand a great relevance to the history and mission of the Damiani brand.

The goal of the three brothers is, in fact, to give a new impulse to one of the most authentic excellences of made in Italy and, specifically, of made in Murano, an island near Venice where the Venini glassworks has been located for almost a hundred years.

The strong commitment of the Damiani family (also with a capital increase of 4 million) towards the Venini brand provides for a substantial foreign development plan, especially in the Asian markets which demonstrate a considerable interest in what the brand represents in terms of artistic content and of values. In line with this strategy, for example, Venini has recently opened a new showroom in South Korea, in the most lively and dynamic fashion district of Seoul: Gangnam. In addition, the flagship store of Via Monte Napoleone in Milan was opened.
