Tiffany from jewels to perfumes (also for men)

Tiffany besides jewels: the Maison launches two new fragrances, also for men

The jewels have no smell, and not even a fragrance. But the luxury brands, yes. For this reason, as other Maison have done, Tiffany & Co. relaunches perfumes with its prestigious and global brand. The jewelery company headed by Alessandro Bogliolo, in fact, for October 1 decided to launch a global campaign for two new fragrances, Tiffany & Love for Him and Tiffany & Love for Her. Tiffany already sells three perfumes: Signature, Sheer and Intense. But now also a fragrance for man is added and the impression is that the brand aims to broaden its field of action. In recent months, for example, new silver home accessories have been announced. And, for jewelry, a line reserved for men.

The new fragrances, according to Tiffany, are “a tribute to the emotional connection and the many ways in which love is defined and expressed”. For the chief artistic officer, Reed Krakoff, the new fragrances are “a reflection of modern love and authentic connections that reflect the strength, joy and promise we find in each other “.

Naturally Tiffany does not directly produce the fragrances, which come from the laboratories of Coty, a company that also takes care of other luxury fragrances, including those with the Calvin Klein and Burberry brands. Tiffany & Love for Him, as anticipated, has a citrus scent with an infused wooden base, created by perfumers Sophie Labbé and Nicolas Beaulieu of International Flavors & Fragrances. Tiffany & Love for Her, on the other hand, is a floral and woody fragrance, created by perfumers Honorine Blanc and Marie Salamagne of the Swiss aroma and perfume company Firmenich.
The perfume bottles are the same in volume, but each with a different shade of blue, with a black cap for him and one in the classic Tiffany Blue color for her.

Tiffany launches jewelry for men

Tiffany is preparing to launch a hundred jewels dedicated to the male audience: necklaces, rings, bracelets of high jewelry for men ♦ ︎

Tiffany focuses on man. The largest jewelery group has announced, by voice of artistic director, Reed Krakoff, that the Maison is preparing to launch a hundred jewels dedicated to the male audience. Actually, something is already there: but the offer for the man of the brand has been limited to rings, cufflinks, money clips and some bracelet as Tiffany T Square. The new launch, scheduled for October in the 300 Tiffany stores around the world, will also include high-end men’s jewelery, with prices ranging from 200 to 14,000 euros or dollars. According to the company, men’s jewels have become popular thanks to rappers, who wear eye-catching rings and necklaces.

Alongside the jewelery to be worn, Tiffany has also decided to dedicate items for the male public, such as shakers and beer mugs. The move, announced in an interview with the Associated Press, is part of Tiffany’s strategy to attract the younger generation of luxury product buyers. Half of Tiffany’s customers are already in the male genre, but buy jewelry for women. Now he will have an extra spending opportunity. Lavinia Andorno

It’s a boom for men’s jewelry

Increases the business of men’s jewelry. And many jewelers do not lose the opportunity ♦ ︎

There are men who do not want to hear about it. There are women who do not like men who wear them. Yet the New York Times has dedicated a long article to jewelry for men. Starting from an incontrovertible fact: you can like it or not, but global sales of luxury jewelry for men reached 5.3 billion in 2017, with an increase of 22% from 4.3 billion in 2012 (data from Euromonitor International, a market research company). Of course, explains the American newspaper, the figure remains far below that for women, estimated at $ 31.9 billion in 2017. But the male jewelry is a trend that increasingly affects the budgets of companies in the sector.

In the foreground, according to experts, there are rings.

In the US, for example, men’s rings generate a third of jewelery sales and are on the rise. In second place there are necklaces, usually chains, which generate a quarter of sales. Actors, rappers and successful athletes contributed to the trend, thanks to an intensive use of showy jewelry for men. There is, however, a problem: men are not (usually) used to wearing bracelets, rings and necklaces. After a few minutes they are annoyed. For this reason, there are producers who have started to offer comfort-fit jewels, that is, easy to wear. An idea that probably would not mind too many women. The trick consists, for example, in creating rings in which the metal band is arched, so that it is not completely in contact with the skin.

Many listed jewelers, such as David Yurman, have been offering men’s jewelery lines for some time.

The rings of David Yurman are also made of titanium, carbon, black diamonds and reach almost $ 8,000. And there are those, like the Italian Marco Dal Maso, who started by focusing more on jewelry for men than for women. Stephen Webster introduced his men’s line for the first time 20 years ago, and came out with a unisex collection last year. Furthermore, on the catwalks of the men’s fashion shows, big fashion brands such as Gucci, Dior or Chanel paraded models wearing showy necklaces. The Alexander McQueen men’s collection also included necklaces with black Swarovski crystals and medallion pendants.

Parades and experiences

But it seems that, apart from the larger dimensions, the philosophy that accompanies jewelry for men is also different. For example, there are many who seek jewels that have not only a decorative function, but also a meaning. This is why the American Maison Dune Jewelry introduced a collection of transparent discs containing sand ten years ago. But it is not any sand: it comes from around 3,300 specific places all over the world, such as Yankee Stadium, Dubai and Maldives beaches, or golf courses in Ireland. The pieces then become personalized and Dune calls this type “experiential jewel”. This also does business. Cosimo Muzzano

Repossi unisex

The basic collection Staple designed by Gaia Repossi and intended for both women and men ♦ ︎

Unisex. It’s very simple or, better, Staple. This is the name of the new collection of Gaia Repossi, minimalist designer of the Maison that bears her name (but it was founded in Turin by her grandfather, Costantin Repossi, in 1920). Now that Repossi is a brand that gravitates in the galaxy of giant Lvmh, which boasts a boutique in place Vendôme designed by the archistar Rem Koolhaas, and it’s been opened boutiques from Dubai to Macao, the new step is the Staple collection, proposed for women and men, at least to those who would wear a gold and diamond earring. It seems that the idea is also due to the partner of the designer, the artist Jeremy Everett. Also this mini collection is faithful to the essential style that distinguishes Gaia Repossi.
The search for lines reduced to a minimum and, at the same time, new, does not derive from the inspiration of other jewelers, from the past or the present, but from artists and architects such as Alexander Calder, Cy Twombly, Franz West, Richard Serra and Le Corbusier, the brutalist, minimalist movements and the Bauhaus. And she, before dedicating herself to jewelry, studied painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Then, at 19, he signed his first collection for Repossi, a diamond necklace to wear on a t-shirt. And in 2007, when she was 21, she was appointed creative director and designer of all Repossi collections. We can not say that she wasted time. Lavinia Andorno

In Zancan’s viewfinder

Guns, Bullets and Skulls Become Gold and Diamond Jewelry in the Zancan Limited Edition collection ♦ ︎
Robertino Zancan, a rebel character. This is how describes himself the founder of the homonymous Maison, born in the fertile province of Vicenza specializes, in particular, in jewelery for men. But not only: Zancan has long since opened the door to the women’s world, as well as those British clubs that adapted to the times after having exclusively reserved the access to men for decades. In any case, Zancan’s collections are still largely dedicated to man, a rare case in the jewelery world. Among the many lines, of which the most famous is the one inspired by the nautical world, but stands out Limited Edition collection, which at VicenzaOro September has been partially renewed. That of the collection, let’s say, is not a subject much used in jewelery. Inspired by the concept of legitimate defense, the collection includes guns of various types (of course miniature and innocuous), hand bombs (do not explode), bullets and, dulcis in fundo, skulls. Weapons and bullets are precious: the pieces are made of gold and white and black diamonds. It is not said, however, that wearing them is a sign of aggressivity: it could simply be the desire to be rebellious, like Robertino Zancan. Rudy Serra

Antorà, art cufflinks

Antorà’s cufflinks, Catania’s brand that conquered the world ♦ ︎
Cufflinks? I’m no longer a jewel only for a man. There are women who wear shirts and show up glittering cufflinks on the wrist: they certainly do not go unnoticed. Among jewelers specialists in precious closures for shirts there is Antonio Rapisarda: he designs and produces cufflinks since 2001, when he decided to create Antorà. An unusual choice, as is not usual the location: Catania. The city of Sicily, just below the Etna volcano, has thus become a destination for the gentleman who wants to add a touch of elegance to his clothing, but also for women who want to get out of the scheme. Antorà’s twins are in gold and silver, enriched with enamel, diamonds or precious stones, and with imaginative shapes. Not only that: the designer jeweler Sicilian has also invented a very different line, Les Montres, which replaces cufflinks with small clock mechanisms. From Catania, the jeweler has managed to conquer half world: almost half of his twins are sold abroad, a quarter in the United States. Alessia Mongrando

Dada Arrigoni double

From the hills of Bergamo, Dada Arrigoni goes from 1985 through the streets of innovation in matters of form. The beauty is that year after year the designer do not lose the desire to do something new. In 2016, for example, alongside the new jewelry creations also she introduces a new logo, which is a reworking of the simple “Da”, the initials of Dada Arrigoni. But that, in Italian, it also sounds like a starting point: starting «da», from, a point to get to another. Another novelty is the introduction of a men’s line, which joins the traditional destined to women. The collections for him are called Archers, Knights, Tube and Pipe Rough, and consist of rings, bracelets and necklaces. As for the women’s line, however, is the new Doubles collection in rose gold and diamonds, while the Etoiles collection and Drops are gold, diamonds, sapphires and tsavorite. In short, gold and precious stones, rounded and sinuous as the mountains that surround Bergamo. Giulia Netrese
