Ara Vartanian, rebellious but not too much

Ara Vartanian: diamonds mounted on the contrary, tourmalines, rubies and a lot of Brazilian imagination. Her boutique in Sao Paulo has become a destination for many celebrities ♦

The fortunes do not come alone: we must it help. And this is, perhaps, what he did Ara Vartanian, Brazilian jeweler who a few years ago saw Kate Moss enter his boutique in Sao Paulo. Of course, she really came because the reputation of the designer had crossed the ocean. The good fortune must be helped, in fact. “It was an absolutely lucky encounter,” said Vartanian. “I was having lunch near my showroom, and they called me to say that Kate Moss was in the shop and wanted a tanzanite ring designed for her.” He is a lover of tanzanite, so everything fits. She also loves tourmalines and the rubies, actually.

The e-mails sent after shopping by the British model, enthusiastic buying, have increased the fame of the designer. Born into a family of jewelers, Ara Vartanian says she grew up among the precious stones. But he chose to use them often with a casual anti-traditionalism, with sometimes surprising geometries. One of the latest innovations, however, are the diamonds mounted on the contrary, highlighting the part usually hidden. He is graduate in economics from Boston University, and was also able to use the tools of finance to intelligently manage his business. And to fascinate clients such as Penelope Cruz, Céline Dion, Naomi Campbell, Liv Tyler, Gisele Bundchen and Sharon Stone. Success convinced him to open boutiques in New York, Los Angeles.

Damiani’s butterflies

//

The butterflies € 1 million price signed by Damiani fly to the Venice Film Festival ♦ ︎

The Venice Film Festival is a stage for actors and actresses. And there is a way of saying that defines the protagonists of the entertainment world as “stage animals”. However, they are not the only animals to animate the days of the edition of the Venice Film Festival in Venice number 75. In fact, there are also the animals-jewel of Damiani, which is partner of the Fondazione ente dello spettacolo, an association promotes the enhancement of film culture in Italy. In fact, the Maison of hine jewelry has always had a link with the cinema, with ambassadors like Sharon Stone, Tilda Swinton, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt, without forgetting the very Italian Isabella Rossellini and Sophia Loren. And Damiani jewels have also appeared in famous films, such as Angels and Demons, A Bigger Splash, The Blind Side.

Damiani has therefore decided to present at the Mostra del Cinema the creations of the Animalia collection:

spiders, geckos, owls, monkeys, parrots, dragonflies in the high jewelery version. In particular, the novelties are made up of three new butterfly rings. The first ring is made of white gold and features an oval fancy purplish pink of 2.23 carats, refined by the intensity of the sapphires that design the lightness of the wings in the different shades of blue. In the second one a round-cornered rectangual fancy blue of 2.52 carats is mounted on rose gold and complemented by white and brown diamonds, in a harmonious alternation that evokes the beauty of a butterfly in flight. In the third proposal, a 3.13 carat yellowish green cushion fancy is combined with white and yellow diamonds, in which the flashes of light are enhanced by the yellow gold. An ingenious mechanism reproduces the wingspan of the butterfly and the movement of the beating of wings. By bending the finger, the pin comes alive, creating a surprising effect. Price: over 1 million euros.

Daniela Villegas vaporizes

Daniela Villegas surprising everyone with pendents with vaporizers for cannabis ♦ ︎
That Daniela Villegas is one of the most brave and original designers is known. Sometime she is able to astonish and sometimes stuns those who are more traditional, and this it’s equally well-known. But few could imagine that in the new collection there was also place for vaporizers of marijuana. Nothing Illegal: the designer welcomed Beboe’s invitation, a California based company that markets cannabis products. At the launch of Beboe, last spring, there were also Sharon Stone, Orlando Bloom, Justin Theroux, Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, along with some members of the Democratic Party. The legalization of cannabis in eight US states, in short, has created a luxury market that is legal and fashionable.
Let’s go back to Daniela Villegas, who for Beboe has linked her insect jewelry to a cannabis vape. The containers are in 18 carat yellow gold, which is worn as a necklace. The vape is enriched with lapis lazuli, blue sapphires, tsavorites and white diamonds, and is similar to one of the pre-filled, disposable Beboe vaporizers. But the vape usually throw themselves after use, that of Daniela Villegas it’s better keep, because it is beautiful and also because costs $ 46,000. Lavinia Andorno

Katie Holmes reappears for H.Stern

The Brazilian Maison of jewelry shows photo shoot of 2012 with the American actress Katie Holmes.
A few weeks ago, Roberto Stern was in London to inaugurate a boutique of the House that bears his name. Surprisingly, for the occasion, the president of the Brazilian brand has revived the photos taken in 2012 on the beach near New York starring Katie Holmes, wearing only a bikini and, of course, the H.Stern jewels. This means, it is the message, that these jewels are not related to current trends, but accompanied by a woman for many years. In fact this is the philosophy of the brand, which boasts what the Brazilians call ginga, ie a special touch.
The company was founded in 1940 by Hans Stern, a German jew escaped with his family from Nazi Germany. In Rio de Janeiro Hans Stern started to deal with semi-precious stones, which abound in Brazil. Then he turned to jewelry. H.Stern now has 280 stores in 32 countries. The son, Roberto Stern, in the eighties has modernized the image of the House, with a more alive design, together with his brother Ronaldo, vice president.
Among the specialties of the house, though, there are not only stones, but also gold. H.Stern, after 180 tests, has identified a top secret alloy, called Noble Gold, which is a very light yellow, yellow to white. In all these years there have been many collections that convinced jewelry lovers and stars such as Catherine Deneuve, Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sharon Stone Jennifer Lopez Lily Collins. Some collections also are entrusted to external designers, as in the case of DVF Diane von Furstenberg. But there is one line that probably the House loves more: it is Stars, who represents the family name. Stern in German means, precisely, star. Giulia Netrese
