He works in a secluded corner of Italy, Romagna. Or, better, in Forlì: a city outside the usual jewelry districts. Yet Massimiliano Bonoli won the Andrea Palladio award as The Best Italian Jewelery Designer 2018.

His work is knew, while some aspects of Bonoli’s life are less so. The designer owns a jewelry store, the Ororé di Forlì, but has his own studio in the historic Guarini palace. It is in these rooms that he conceived and designed some of the most successful jewels for many famous brands. One example is, without a doubt, Armadillo, the articulated ring that is one of the icons of Mattia Cielo, for which he also designed the Pavone line and the Rugiada collection, with the use of innovative materials such as titanium or carbon. Her other jewels are those of the Stones collection by Breil, the Love Me or Eternity lines by Recarlo, the Kiara bracelet.

Bonoli has worked as an independent jewelry designer for over 25 years, but his experience began years ago, in the family jewelry store. As the name indicates, the collection is proposed as a symbol (and gift) on exceptional occasions, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, symbols of passion and luxury at the same time. The choice of Recarlo, even for the new jewels, is to use diamonds with a heart-shaped cut, even small ones. A way to emphasize the focus on which the collection is concentrated and, at the same time, a technical challenge for jewelry: it is not easy to get and work with so many diamonds with this type of shape. Which, among other things, they have the advantage of achieving a particularly brilliant visual effect.

As in the case of the collier, in which diamond hearts chase each other in a rivière way: it is the highlight of the collection, with about 15 carats of diamonds and an approximate price of about 61,000 euros.

Among the novelties there are also chandelier earrings. In this case they are available in two price ranges: from 26,000 euros for 5.83 carats or 12,640 euros for a lighter carat weight. Result: for 77% of Italians, a jewel must have a particular value and 40% are careful to choose a single piece. “Our survey shows that those who combine classic design with an individual note have a good chance of making their loved one happy on Valentine’s Day,” says Inhorgenta’s executive director Stefanie Mändlein. Is there a symbol of the most effective love of the heart? For sure, no. That’s why the Maison Recarlo has decided to continue her Anniversary collection with a new jewelery line, Anniversary Love. The name says it all: love and special occasions are the recipients of these jewels who keep faith in their mission even in their shape. The peculiarity of this collection is, in fact, the choice of the shape of the diamonds used, all in the shape of a heart. From bigger to smallest, even tiny ones, are all stones that have the silhouette of the symbol of love. Let’s say for those who are not expert: it’s not easy to find a cutter that can provide a high number of diamonds with this type of shape, with 58 glossy facets (among other things, it was a cut loved by Louis XVI). Maison Recarlo has managed to center the target and, looking at the many pieces that make up the collection, was not a simple business.
The idea of diamond-shaped on gold is offered in a variety of ways: for example, with diamonds lonely, or with a sole of other small diamonds, in this case with brilliant cut, to make even more bright the jewel. The same shape is proposed in the monachelle and pendant.
Hearts also feature some special creations for the models: the glittering Eternelle glider, where the diamonds alternate (with particular light effects) and the contrarié, with a swirling circle of hearts to climb. Some examples of prices, which naturally vary greatly according to the diamond carats used on the jewel: a simple heart ring with a small diamond size of 0.18 carats, costs about 1170 euros, 0.40 carats climbs to 2750 euros , and from 0.70 to 7000 euros. For rings with halo, a 0.18-carat pendant the price is 1110 euros, for 049 carats it gets to 2540 euros. For a 1.10-car Trilogy ring the cost increases to 6790 euros.
