Forget me not, with Morphée

After prêt-à-porter, there is the more interesting Prêt-à-Briller. This time, however, it is a collection of jewels by the Parisian Morphée, who, contrary to what the name might suggest, does not linger in sleep. Its founder, gemologist and creative director, Pamela Hastry, doesn’t let too much time pass between one idea and another translated into jewels. The Prêt-à-Briller collection, for example, consists of eight lines. The one proposed for autumn by the Maison, which has recently opened a store also in Brussels, is dedicated to a flower full of symbolism, the myosotis, better known as forget-me-not.

The Forget-Me-Not collection consists of four flowers of different sizes: small, medium and large. The jewels are made with shades of blue sapphires and carved flowers of amethyst and topaz. The stones are used for rings and earrings of different types. Morphée also takes the opportunity to tell the origin of the popular name of the flower, a rather sad story.

In the Middle Ages a knight courted a lady and as they walked, her demoiselle was attracted to a Myosotis flowerbed along a river. The knight wanted to pay homage to a bouquet of these blue flowers, but he lost his balance and the weight of his armor dragged him into the river, where he drowned. But before he died he threw the flowers on the ground shouting “Forget me not my love”. Well, there is no such danger with jewels.

Morphée Joaillerie is Prêt-à-Briller

//

A very personal flower garden, with small beetles that shuttle between one petal and another. It is the subject of the new collection of the French brand Morphée Joaillerie. The collection actually has a more fashionable name: Prêt-à-Briller. As in a garden, the idea of the collection is to use the jewels in a natural way, for example by grouping them in small precious bunches, or to scatter them on the body, for example with several small earrings on the same ear. The beetle, made of 9 carat blackened white gold and labradorite, thus becomes that extra touch that makes the combination more in tune with nature.

The jewels are all in 9-karat gold with the addition of diamonds or colored sapphires: blue, yellow or pink, depending on the flower represented. Morphée Joaillerie is a creation of Pamela Hastry, a designer born in Brussels (Belgium), but who lives and works in Paris. He has an international education: after the industrial design course at the University of Kingston (England), he then attended the European Institute of Design in Rome, where he discovered the subtleties of jewels, in particular through the art of drawing.

Flowers on the wings of Morpheus

In spring there is blooming cherry trees and sprouting buttercups, also in jewelry. The cherry blossom, which blooms only one week a year, inspired the concept of eternal, like love itself. Cherry Blossoms and Buttercups, signed by Morphée Joaillerie, are really spring collections. And, after all, spring is also a season that invites to the pleasure of sleep, as it evokes the name of this brand which is a few steps from the famous Place Vendôme. The idea of dedicating his creations to the mythological figure of Morpheus is by Pamela Hastry, Belgian designer transplanted to Paris offering limited edition jewelry, high quality, or tailor. However, he took his first steps in London, where he learned the craft of jewelry designers, training continued in Rome ( “where he lived the complexity of jewelry,” she says). Paris is a bit ‘the synthesis between north and south, as well as being one of the world capitals of jewelery. And, as you can see from the pictures, the result is excellent. Rudy Serra
