PdPaola’s mini letters

Initials, names, anniversaries: jewels that speak are those formed by letters that can be worn. Even the Spanish brand PdPaola has chosen to adopt this type of jewel with Mini Lettere necklaces and bracelets. The design of the jewels is original: a letter framed in an octagon in 18K gold-plated sterling silver and cubic zirconia. The Catalan Maison has chosen a rather small size. The letters are not meant to spell whole words – each necklace or bracelet comes with a single letter.

All letters of the alphabet are available. The octagons that contain the letter are added to the jewelry line already presented by PdPaola always centered on the letters, but with the addition of natural stones and crystals.
Barcelona-based PdPaola was founded in 2014 by brothers Paola and Humbert Sasplugas and has since experienced tremendous growth, with over 100 current employees. Recently, the brand concluded a distribution agreement in the United States with Zales, a company specialized in the retail sale of jewels, now the first American in-store retailer for PdPaola.

Chaumet, the high jewelery Maison that is part of the Lvmh group, presented new pieces from the Liens collection, which is inspired by sentimental ties. The jewels are made of pink and white gold, with or without pavé of small diamonds, through a recurring design in the Maison’s creations. The jewelery collection therefore includes pieces such as Liens Évidence, with an element reminiscent of a suspension bridge.

Castel Bolognese is a small Italian village located in the province of Ravenna founded exactly on April 13, 1389. A lot of time has passed since the official deed that sanctioned its birth. There is no news of famous people born in the town nor of particularly important works of art kept in the village. But, despite this, Castel Bolognese has something that has international fame: Ferrucci. It is a jewelry company that has conquered a special space. Alongside the sale of jewelery and watches from the main brands, the company also produces high-end pieces.

The story begins in 1985, with Nicola and Alessandra Ferrucci, with the opening of a boutique in Castel Bolognese, combining passion for jewels and ethical commitment. However, the development of the Maison is due to his son Francesco, who launched the Ferrucci brand, after having perfected the goldsmith’s technique in Vicenza, and having traveled between London, Los Angeles and Miami. The jewelery work is demonstrated by pieces that can compare with those of the great Maisons.

The ways of the design of the British Wendy Ramshaw, between fantasy and geometric rigor.

The design has so many roads as those of the imagination. But there are roads that are better than others: a clear, imaginative street, but not confused. On one of these way has set out the British designer Wendy Ramshaw, born in Sunderland in 1939 and passed away in 2018.. Her jewels are not just jewelry, but precious objects that derive from her work as an artist. She works in collaboration with her husband, David Watkins, who is also a successful sculptor and jeweler, but she has a style all its own.

Watkins and Ramshaw met in 1961, when they were students at the University of Reading. Since then, private and professional lives are intertwined.

She loves lines reminiscent of the paintings of Kandinsky, fragile balances but at the same time safe, not made for noble metals strength, while is royal the shape that contains them. Its multiple rings were an idea of the seventies and still are loved now. In 1995, Maria Pia and Elisa Cencini, mother and daughter, they founded in Arezzo Mariasole Gioielli. Today Elisa still leads the game, which has become an established brand, together with her sister Francesca. But the company’s character has not changed: to combine a production for a wide audience with the handicraft realization, one that creates each piece with something that is different from the previous one.

The jewels that come from the Tuscan Maison, in fact, are also made with techniques typical of a craft of the past, such as those that have elements in ceramic hand-painted. Whether gold or silver, however, the Mariasole jewels are really different from what you find around. Fun, colorful, with a mix of pop style and traditions of yesteryear. There are jewels with the shape of animals, or with Sicilian puppet figures, fruit, flowers. And to add up all the elements, like the jade ear-shaped leaf, on which are located a centipede, a ladybug, a bee and three mushrooms. It is not so, as we know, we are just a speck of dust in the cosmos, but the concept of the sphere continues to fascinate humanity for its perfection. It is therefore not strange that jewelers such as Giovanni Raspini put the shape of the sphere at the center for some collections.
