Amen, it’s Father’s Day

Father’s day around the world and Amen’s gifts.

In many countries around the world, in fact, one day a year is Father’s Day, even if the date varies from one place to another. On March 19, for example, it is celebrated in Italy, Andorra, Bolivia, Spain, Honduras, Liechtenstein, Portugal, Switzerland (Canton Ticino) and, of course, in the Vatican since the feast in Catholic countries is also the day dedicated to Saint Joseph, putative father of Jesus.

But, in reality, Father’s Day seems to have been born in Egypt, in the fifth century, where the apocryphal story of Joseph the carpenter was written and where, however, his feast was set for July 20 for the Coptic religion. His feast of March 19 appears for the first time in the year 800. Father’s Day is celebrated, however, on January 6 in Serbia, on February 23 in Russia, on May 8 in South Korea, while in Romania the feast is set for the third Sunday of May and coincides with Ascension Day in Germany. The first Sunday in June is Father’s Day for Switzerland (Ticino excluded) and Lithuania, June 5 is Denmark’s turn. Continuing the world tour of Father’s Day, the second Sunday of June is the turn of Austria and Belgium, June 17 occurs in Guatemala and El Salvador, but it is the third Sunday in June that beats everyone: it is the holiday for South Africa, Argentina, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Cuba, United States of America, Ecuador, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Mauritius, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, Mexico, Paraguay, Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Senegal, Singapore, Slovakia, Tunisia, Turkey, Hungary, Venezuela, Mali.

The solution is there, let it be said with a smile on your face, and it is an amulet. If, then, the lucky charm is combined with exotic locations, the journey will be even more peaceful. Now, then, there is an entire collection of jewels, Amuleti of Nanis, which is inspired by far and fascinating places. The Amuleti collection is the novelty for spring 2022 conceived by the founder and designer of the brand, Laura Bicego.

The collection includes pendants in 18k gold, diamonds and natural stones which are available in three sizes. The pendants, in fact, are combined with colored silk laces and can be used as necklaces or bracelets. Alternatively, the pendants can be used together with delicate gold chains decorated with a boule made with one of the natural stones of the collection. Amuleti uses the shape of Nanis cherries, that is, pendants with round cut stone, in a colorful and casual key. They are available in pairs or individually. There are, of course, also rings, available in different sizes.

The collection uses different natural stones: aquamarine, green and orange aventurine and moonstone. Each stone is inspired by particular places. The orange aventurine recalls Petra, the surprising city in Jordan that was also the set of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The green aventurine, on the other hand, is an allusion to the jungle of the Amazon. Moonstone amulets, on the other hand, were born as a reference to the expanses of the New Mexico desert. The Azure amulets, on the other hand, are reminiscent of the Saline of Camargue, in France. In short, you can wear a little world tour.

A tea in the desert with Giovanni Raspini. Or, better, with one of the collections debuting for the spring-summer 2022 season. It is the Tuareg collection, inspired by the exotic atmospheres made up of sand dunes and the folklore of the Berber populations who live in tents on the edge of the Sahara. Clothes, colors and jewels of these tribes inspired Giovanni Raspini in the creation of the Tuareg collection, made of gilded silver. But not only that, because the collection, taking inspiration from the suggestions of the desert, uses a palette of four colors: gold, the turquoise of the sky, the brown-sand of desert rocks and the indigo blue of the clothes.

In the Tuareg collection, gilded silver is combined with turquoise aulite, with the polished village stone (used by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence since the sixteenth century) and with blue agate with inclusions of bronzite. The jewels also include figurative elements such as tassels, scarabs, camels and above all ancient coins, of great visual impact. The collection comes in three necklaces, three bracelets and two pairs of earrings.

Since the world, too often, communicates the worst side of humanity (or, better, the lack of humanity), let’s try to find a smile again. A smiling jewel can be an idea. So it happens that on the fiftieth anniversary of the Smiley icon, the Parisian Maison Messika turned to the artist André Saraiva, famous for his Mr. A graffiti to create smiling jewels.

The Smiley icon was created in 1972 by French journalist Franklin Loufrani to spread good news and over the years the smiley face has become one of the most important icons in graphic design, used by millions of people. The idea of celebrating the anniversary with a jewel has resulted in new pieces from the Lucky Move collection, launched as a line of lucky jewelry. The small Lucky Move pendant unveils a smile in yellow diamonds in a white pave gold ring.

In its exclusive version, the second jewel of the collection is a Lucky Move XXL necklace, which competes as the most expensive Smiley in the world. Offered with wide chain links, 43 millimeters in diameter the laughing face emerges through the meticulous pavé of several hundred yellow diamonds and white diamonds totaling 7.90 carats. The number 50 of the anniversary is engraved on the back of both necklaces, which commemorate the anniversary edition.

The Opsobjects chain inspired by Grace

Grace Kelly, actress, hapless princess and icon. In her name, and in her myth, equally legendary bags and, now, a series of bijoux signed by the Italian brand Obsobjects have been designed. The Grace collection, openly inspired by the late princess of Monaco, consists of bracelets, necklaces and earrings that can be combined with each other. The aesthetic motif of the collection is the timeless chain, which is combined in different ways, with irregular links, with metal that is sometimes smooth, sometimes knurled. All to add a touch of novelty to the genre.

The jewels, in fact, are composed of an oval diamond mesh, or woven into an almost hypnotic motif. Furthermore, the chain is proposed simple and thin or double, it alternates and connects with rings of different shapes, oval or circular. The material with which the jewels of the Opsobjects Grace line are made is brass, enriched with a 24-karat yellow gold plating.

The bees of Amen

A collection of bijoux dedicated to bees, such as the one proposed for spring 2022 by Amen, has illustrious ancestors. The image of bees living in communities has been used from antiquity to modern times, by Aristotle and Plato, Virgil and Seneca, Erasmus and Shakespeare, by Tolstoy and even by philosophers and politicians such as Bernard Mandeville and Karl Marx, who indicated yellow and black insects as a model for human society. But, probably, the necklaces and earrings proposed by the Italian brand Amen have a much simpler goal: to remember the arrival of spring.

The homage to bees, which return to populate the meadows that are stained with the colors of the flowers, is made through necklaces and earrings with enamel and zircons and proposed in rhodium, rose and gold versions. Amen is the brand created by Giovanni Licastro in 2012, which was characterized by the use of words related to the Christian faith in jewelry, and then broadened the field of action to affordable jewelry.

New jewels from Bronzallure, Milor’s Milanese brand of made in Italy jewelry. Among the latest innovations is the Altissima collection, which includes a series of jewels made with the 18-karat rose gold plated Golden Rose alloy with the addition of cubic zirconia or black spinels. The collection includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces made with the pavé technique or in a tennis style. Prices are low thanks to the special yield of the alloy patented in 2015 by the Maison, Golden Rose.

It is a bronze ennobled alloy, particularly suitable for use in the goldsmith, jewelery or costume jewelery industry. Developed with the expertise of the University of Padua, this alloy, according to the patent, “allows for an improvement in the characteristics and final results of the finished product”. Anyone who buys a dress or a jewel signed by one of the fashion companies wants something that stands out from the rest, but not too much. Born relatively recently, in 1962, the London-based jewelry David Morris immediately stood out for the quality and richness of its collections. In particular, the high jewelery collections often feature pieces of maharaja-like opulence. This is also the case for the Impressions high jewelery collection, presented at the Paris Couture Week. Rare and magnificent precious stones are the real inspiring motif of the collection.

As for the Monsoon necklace, which combines contrasting cuts and motifs to renew a classic collar design: a sketch from 1962 confirms its roots. The jewel also has adjustable closures, which allow you to transform it from a choker or into a sautoir necklace for the evening. The emeralds of the necklace are interspersed with white, shield-shaped, fancy-cut diamonds, specially cut for the design. With their clean-cut corners, diamonds are paired with the gentle curves of cabochon emerald drops, while tiny white gold hinges are hidden behind the gemstones to ensure perfect shape and flexibility.

The collection, however, also uses colored titanium for jewels with a less classic and more modern style. The Evergreen earrings, with 27 carats of emeralds, have almost neon reflections thanks to the green titanium setting, offset by white diamonds. The Tetras bracelet, on the other hand, uses turquoise and diamonds, along with a 10-carat blue Madagascar sapphire.

Instead of a lawyer’s gown, Carolina Ravarini wears colored necklaces with semiprecious stones and copper. Bijoux, in short, but graciously from Milan, with that taste and character that only the Lombard capital can have. It was definitely not her destiny to work in a courtroom, despite her law degree. On the other hand, with an architect and designer father, and a painter grandmother, the DNA could only be creative. You can take a journey into space without running dangers with the Cosmos collection by Sara Loren, which is proposed as an alternative to the classic interpretations of necklace, ring, bracelet and earring. The diversity is all in the design chosen by the Venetian brand to symbolize planets and satellites. The jewelry is made of 18K gold plated silver. It is called C-Type. It is a line of jewelry that marks an innovation in the world of Crieri. The Maison of Valenza, in fact, owes much of its fame to the specialization in tennis-like jewels, in particular bracelets and necklaces in white gold and diamonds. For some time, however, Crieri has opened its doors to other types, with extremely luxurious jewels, such as the Bogotà collection in Colombian diamonds and emeralds, or with a completely different style, as in the case of the C-Type line. The name also indicates the choice to inspire the shape of the jewels to the letter C, initial of Crieri.

The consonant was subjected to a design cure to evaluate and recompose the geometry of the alphabetic letter. The resulting jewels are thus composed of soft and modern lines, with diamonds and precious stones set and in 18-karat gold. Rings, earrings and pendants in white, yellow or pink gold. One of the funniest collections by Roberto Coin, Pois Moi, is renewed and adds a new line. Pois Moi Luna adds variations to the collection that was born from the inspiration of the old sixties television screens. Those square boxes, but with a rounded edge, have been transformed by the Venetian jeweler into a series of jewels with a hint of non-conformism. In the first version of Pois Moi, gold was an absolute element. Then came a second more luxurious release, covered with a diamond pavé, also with a retro flavor, but this time with a touch of the Thirties.

Pois Moi Luna, third version, instead has a retro-futuristic approach: they mix the charm of vintage with spatial atmospheres, with jewels that reproduce the lunar surface with its gold craters, surrounded by a pavé of diamonds or by the smooth surface of the metal in pink, yellow, or white version. A motif that is also repeated inside the jewels, with the result of lightening their weight and making them more pleasant to wear.
