Precious Amore for Leo Pizzo

Amore is an Italian word known all over the world, like other popular terms like mamma or, if you prefer, pizza. Love is universal, it has no boundaries, it has no age, it has no colors. But it has a shape recognized by all, the heart. The organ that keeps blood circulating in the veins is also the one that beats the fastest when emotions overwhelm the mind. Leo Pizzo, an Italian maison from Valencia, knows these things very well and for this reason he conceived the Amore collection, which uses the eternal silhouette of the heart to symbolize the passion of the couple.

The Amore collection is made of gold and also uses brilliant-cut diamonds combined with precious stones such as pink sapphires to complete the pavé that completely covers the surface of the jewel. The hearts are slightly rounded, with a volume that helps to make the three-dimensionality of the jewel visible. The Amore collection includes rings, earrings and pendants linked to a double white gold chain.

Four more brands for Haute Jewels Geneva

Haute Jewels Geneva attracts new jewelery Maisons. Started quietly in 2019 with the presence of four brands, the event founded and organized by the CEO of Yoko London, Michael Hakimian, has expanded. For the 2023 edition at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva from Sunday 26 March to Sunday 2 April, four other jewelery brands are expected: Pasquale Bruni, Karen Suen, Busatti 1947 and Casato. The new arrivals will join the 18 brands already present in 2022 and which have confirmed their presence for the new edition: Yoko Londra, Roberto Coin, Sutra, Crivelli, Bayco, Eto Maria, Stenzhorn, Marco Bicego, Mariani, Palmiero, Picchiotti, Gorgoglione , Hans D.Krieger, Leo Pizzo, Verdi, Annamaria Cammilli, Sicis, Baraka.

Haute Jewels Geneva was born on the ashes of the dissolution of Baselworld and in conjunction with the other major event in the Swiss city, Watches and Wonders, dedicated to the world of haute horlogerie, which this year is held from 27 March to 2 April. Haute Jewels Geneva, organized inside the hotel overlooking the lake, is an appointment dedicated to discretion in a soft environment. Although Haute Jewels Geneva has grown since its inception, the organizers note, «one of its main objectives remains to remove the formality from the traditional trade fair experience, offering a relaxed atmosphere for both customers and exhibitors to discover exclusive jewelery designs».

Haute Jewels Geneva returns on March 26th

Haute Jewels Geneva, come back. There are 18 jewelry brands that will participate in the event to be held at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva from March 26 to April 2, 2023. Haute Jewels Geneva is an idea of Michael Hakimian, CEO of Yoko London, who wanted to react in this way to his death of Baselworld. For this reason, the appointment in Geneva takes place in parallel with Watches and Wonders, dedicated to high jewelery, which in 2023 will take place from March 27 to April 2. Also in the hotels of the city, there are also other jewelry brands.

Haute Jewels Geneva, however, is organized as an event in itself. Also in 2023 is confirmed the participation of Yoko London, Roberto Coin, Crivelli, Sutra, Bayco, Eto Maria, Stenzhorn, Marco Bicego, Mariani, Palmiero, Picchiotti, Gorgoglione, Hans D. Krieger, Leo Pizzo, Verdi, Annamaria Cammilli, Barakà and Sicis.

The jewels of the Venice Film Festival

The jewels, together with clothes with less and less fabric, are also for 2022 the protagonists of the Venice festival. The Venice International Film Festival, number 79 in history, is one of the world events that offers greater visibility. It is therefore logical that the actresses try to show their best, helped by the great jewelery houses that lend their jewels to sparkle on the red carpet. The photographers present therefore have the function of focusing on the images that will travel around the world. Here are some of the jewels seen on the Lido, the island of Venice that hosts the screenings of the competing films.

Dorra Zarrouk con gioielli Messika

Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk participated wearing Messika high jewelery. The Parisian Maison supplied a diamond necklace and a pendant ring. Also by Messika are the jewels of the American actress Camilla Mendes, with Pear Appeal earrings and the Diamond Magnet 2 ring, from the Magnetic Attraction High Jewelry collection. The Belgian model Rose Bertram chose, instead, Wild Moon High Jewelry earrings and ring and the double Miss Milla ring. DI Messika also the asymmetrical High Jewelry Illusionnistes earrings, from the Voltige High Jewelry collection for the Italian actress Matilde Gioli. The French brand was among the most representative., He also convinced the Italian actress Anna Foglietta, with High Jewelry Kashmir earrings, mixed with the Desert Bloom ring, as well as the British actress Charithra Chandran, with the Solena Maya earrings from the collection High Jewelry by Messika.

But it’s not just high jewelery that shines: two Italian actresses Aurora Ruffino and Valeria Angione wore Pandora jewelry from the Timeless and Signature collections. And while Federica Panicucci, Italian TV presenter, chose Damiani’s Emozioni collection, entertainer Camilla Boniardi opted for the set of Salvini’s Magia collection.

High jewelry, on the other hand, with another Italian brand, Leo Pizzo. They wore the jewels of the Maison of Valenza Nilufar Addati, with earrings and ring in white gold and diamonds from the Diva Collection, and Ludovica Pagani, with a set of rings, earrings, necklace, bracelets in white gold and diamonds from the Flora Collection.

Always top of the range with Pasquale Bruni: the Italian actress Aurora Giovinazzo and Filipino model Kelsey Merit chose the jewels designed by Eugenia Bruni. And always by Pasquale Bruni are the jewels worn by Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina Rodriguez, the Italian singer Nina Zilli and the fashion guru Anna Dello Russo.

Haute Jewels Geneva, positive balance

The idea worked. The report of Haute Jewels Geneva, which was held at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva in conjunction with Watch & Wonders in the Swiss city on Lake Geneva, had a positive response. The event was attended by 18 big names in jewelry: Yoko London, Roberto Coin, Crivelli, Sutra, Bayco, Eto Maria, Stenzhorn, Marco Bicego, Mariani, Palmiero, Picchiotti, Gorgoglione, Hans D. Krieger, Leo Pizzo, Verdi, Annamaria Cammilli , Barakà and Sicis.

The 2022 edition of Haute Jewels Geneva was an unequivocal success. We believe the triumph of this show marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the jewelry industry. Smaller commercial events composed of like-minded brands can offer a more focused, more enjoyable and beneficial luxury experience for both brands and visitors. We look forward to the 2023 edition of Haute Jewels Geneva.

The success of the “mini Baselword” is also due to the selection of brands and the atmosphere offered by the location. In the same hotel, although outside the Haute Jewels Geneva, there were also two other brands: Piero Milano and Dolce & Gabbana, an aspect that has probably contributed to attracting visitors.

In 18 for Haute Jewels Geneva

The time has come for the small Baselworld of jewelry, as some have dubbed it. From March 30 to April 5, at the Fairmont Grand Hotel in Geneva, 18 great names in jewelry give life to Haute Jewels Geneva. This is an event born after the evaporation of Baselworld and in conjunction with Watches and Wonders, a fair centered on fine watchmaking that takes place on the same days in the Swiss city. A first experiment had already been organized in 2019, but with only four exhibitors and with the subsequent suspension due to the covid. Now, however, the organizers led by Michael Hakimian, CEO of Yoko London, are back and with greater participation.

In all, therefore, the brands present at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva are 18, with a majority of Italian Maison: Yoko London, Roberto Coin, Sutra, Crivelli, Bayco, Etho Maria, Stenzhorn, Marco Bicego, Mariani, Palmiero, Picchiotti, Gorgoglione , Hans D. Krieger, Leo Pizzo, Verdi Gioielli, Annamaria Cammilli, Barakà, Sicis.

Haute Jewels Geneva with 16 major brands

Farewell Baselworld. The Maisons of jewelry organize their fair, in combination with Watches and Wonders, the event dedicated to the top timepiece brands. The novelty, on the other hand, is called Haute Jewels Geneva, the international fair of high jewelery, which will be held at the Fairmont Grand Hotel from 30 March to 5 April 2022, simultaneously with the event dedicated to watches. In short, no return to Basel. The first taste of Haute Jewels Geneva was in 2019, in January, with the participation of four brands (Yoko London, Roberto Coin, Crivelli and Sutra). The idea was liked and in 2020 the event was to be repeated with eight brands. But the pandemic forced the appointment to be canceled both in 2020 and in 2021.

In 2022, however, Haute Jewels Geneva will return with 16 major jewelry brands: Yoko London, Roberto Coin, Sutra, Crivelli, Bayco, Eto Maria, Stenzhorn, Marco Bicego, Mariani, Palmiero, Picchiotti, Gorgoglione, Hans D. Krieger, Leo Pizzo, Verdi, Annamaria Cammilli. The decision of the brands marks, perhaps, the tombstone on the former great Baselworld watch and jewelry fair. On the other hand, the world changes quickly.

Voice-Vicenzaoro with 300 companies and many big names

Vicenzaoro has been suspended. Long live Vicenzaoro. Which, however, in September is called Voice. If the health emergency led Ieg (the company that organizes Vicenzaoro) to transform the format of the event by also changing the name, the companies in the sector have a strong need to show their production to buyers, that the appointment is called Vicenzaoro o Voice doesn’t matter. This is what can be deduced from the announcement that, in July, the companies that have chosen to exhibit their jewels at Voice-Vicenzaoro International Community Event (12 to 14 September) exceed 300.

About 300 companies means a very limited drop of about 15% compared to last year’s attendance. And taking into account that the major fairs, not only of jewelery, have been postponed to next year, number of registration to Voice is a success, perhaps unexpected. In short, Vicenzaoro, ops, Voice has a strong attraction. The names that have already reserved their space also testify to this.

For example, Damiani, Crivelli, Leo Pizzo, Mirco Visconti, Fope, Roberto Coin, Pesavento, Karizia, Chrysos, Ronco, Chiampesan, Riccardo Orsato, Alessi Domenico, Silvex, Daveri Vicenza, Unoaerre, Giordini, Richline, Fratelli Chini, Quadrifoglio, Amen, Annamaria Cammilli, Rosato, Pianegonda, Brosway, Rue des Milles. And there will also be companies from Campania, specialists in the processing of corals and cameos, such as Aucella, Bruno Mazza, Coscia, De Simone, Idea Coral, Mattia Mazza, Enzo Liverino.

Leo Pizzo dedicates a collection to Venice

/

Leo Pizzo loves Venice, the city famous all over the world: a unique place, custodian of many works of art and unfortunately threatened by climate change. La Maison in Valenza dedicates to the lagoon city a collection inspired by carnival masks, romantic bridges and the canals that make it up. And if Venice is full of interesting aspects, of culture, of romantic glimpses, the Leo Pizzo collection that is dedicated to the city is just as rich.

The jewels are made of 18 carat gold and include necklaces, rings and earrings. The shape of the jewels takes up some details of Venetian architecture, such as the Moorish-style clover motif, which is inspired by the original Gothic tunnel of the Doge’s Palace. Pear-cut diamonds also serve to compose rings of a floral nature. White and pink gold, white diamonds and pink sapphires are the elements with which the collection is made: even the colors are reminiscent of those of the buildings of the ancient floating city.

Leo Pizzo, embroidery in Venice

///

Embroideries of Venetian architecture become jewels with the new collection by Leo Pizzo ♦ ︎

All things made at home. It may seem unnecessary for a jeweler to point out that he knows how to make his own work. But it is not. Without say names (but perhaps sooner or later we will do them), it is known that many large jewelery houses are, in reality, simple design offices. Only the design of the jewel is produced at home, when even this is not entrusted to an external company. The design is then translated into rings, necklaces and earrings from other manufacturers, perhaps in some remote corner of the planet (spoilers: in Thailand or in China).
This premise is necessary to understand that the choice of Leo Pizzo to design and produce his own collections entirely in Valenza is to be emphasized.

The latest production is the Venezia collection. Leo Pizzo designed these jewels with his thoughts turned to the famous city on water.

Anelli in oro bianco e diamanti della collezione Venezia
Anelli in oro bianco e diamanti della collezione Venezia

Not only: the shape of the jewels is inspired by the embroidery of some late Gothic architecture, with Moorish accents. For example, the decorations of Palazzo Ducale, one of the most famous examples of architecture in Venice. But for Leo Pizzo the undoubted charm of the lagoon city is also enhanced by another aspect: in Venice, in Piazza San Marco, the Maison just opened its fourth boutique.

Leo Pizzo, the charm of the snake

//

Snakes from the Animalia collection by Leo Pizzo: the charm of the animal symbol of temptation ♦

The animalia or animalier collections are a jewelery classic. Perhaps because the first jewels worn by mankind were made with animal elements, such as teeth or bones. Or, perhaps, because the animal world continues to have a great fascination for humans. Leo Pizzo, an Italian jeweler based in Valenza, proposed new pieces from his Animalia collection to Baselworld.

In particular, the collection celebrates the snake, an emblem of seduction and renewal, as well as one of the most used symbols.

Leo Pizzo, anello in oro rosa, diamanti, smeraldi

The snake is reproduced with different materials: rose gold and diamonds, white gold and diamonds, with sapphires, or with small emeralds. Snakes have one or more coils within which to wrap their fingers, neck or wrist. La Maison also offers coordinated pieces, such as the brooch to match the ring or to wear alone.

The Flora of Leo Pizzo

/

New Leo Pizzo’s flowers in the Flora collection: a tribute to nature and woman ♦ ︎

Flowers in a house should never be missing: fresh, fragrant, colorful. But they must not miss even in the repertoire of a jeweler. And it is well knew by Leo Pizzo, master of Valenza who is one of the names of the great Italian jewelry. Years ago, in fact, Leo Pizzo proposed a series of jewels centered on the shape of the flower.

Now Leo Pizzo does an encore with the Flora collection, a tribute to nature and, naturally, to women.

Anelli della collezione Flora
Anelli della collezione Flora

The flowers in this collection respect the style of the Maison, but are different from those proposed three years ago. They are more delicate, with three petals. Flowers bloom on rings, bracelets and necklaces with diamonds and pink or blue sapphires. Precious stones are used to give that extra touch that makes the jewelry more in tune with the name of the collection. The pavé on the surface of the petals, in fact, is used to recreate that nuance that distinguishes the color of the petals in the natural world: a little touch of virtuosity. Giulia Netrese

VicenzaOro, among the news there is the farewell of Marzotto

The vice president of Ieg, Matteo Marzotto, leaves the company with controversy, while they preparing the edition of VicenzaOro January ♦ ︎

There are already the first changes for the next edition of VicenzaOro January. But at the appointment of the winter edition of the jewelery fair, controversy also shine. That can not leave the insiders indifferent.

A few days ago, in fact, Matteo Marzotto, vice president of IEG, a company born from the union of Fiera Rimini with Fiera Vicenza, has resigned from his position, in a controversy with the octogenarian president of Italian Exhibition Group, the very senior Lorenzo Cagnoni.

Da sinistra, Matteo Marzotto, Lorenzo Cagnoni, Ugo Ravanelli
Da sinistra, Matteo Marzotto, Lorenzo Cagnoni, Ugo Ravanelli, ad di Ieg

It is not a little good-bye, as Marzotto must be credited with having relaunched VicenzaOro, above all at a difficult time for the Italian economy. New ideas, dynamism and personal relationships of Marzotto were the recipe for the new face of the format, which was then successfully exported abroad. All this, however, does not seem to have been enough for the new management of the company. More than a merger between two partners, it is the sense of the farewell of Marzotto, it was a question of an OPA of Rimini on Vicenza. And for Ieg, whose goal is to be listed on the stock exchange, Marzotto’s leave is not a minor goodbye.

The distance had already appeared clear during the last edition of VicenzaOro September, in which Marzotto was not involved.

Matteo Marzotto, presidente di Fiera Vicenza (a sinistra) e Corrado Facco, direttore generale
Matteo Marzotto, ex presidente di Fiera Vicenza (a sinistra) e Corrado Facco, ex direttore generale

In any case, the Veneto entrepreneur did not use half-terms and denounced in a letter the lack of “institutional respect of the minority shareholder, too often ill-tolerated and kept on the sidelines, even on occasions of important decisions, such as that of assignment of the design for the enlargements of the exhibition areas, brought to the board by ad Ravanelli to things widely done and for mere disclosure”.
Marzotto’s letter also underlines what the experts have been saying negatively for some time: the hasty dismissal of the former director of Fiera Vicenza, Corrado Facco, Marzotto’s right-hand man and co-author of the re-launch of VicenzaOro.
“The way we look is practically opposite on everything, except on the goodness of the merger of the two fair companies and their listing on the Stock Exchange”, concluded Marzotto bitterly.

Maybe even to spread a veil on this epilogue not commendable, IEG begins to turn on the lights on the next appointment. Here are the news: Roberto Coin will present the new versions of the Princess Flower collection, Damiani the extensions of the D.Side, Eden and the iconic Belle Epoque collections. In the Icon area there will be Fope, Crivelli, Leo Pizzo, Tamara Comolli, Djula. A confirmation is also that of Alessio Boschi in the Design Room, in which he will also find the Parisian designer-artist Lydia Courteille, the Vicentine Mattia Cielo (for him a return) and Monica Rich Kosann. Confirmation also for Giovanni Raspini, Rue de Milles, Victoria Cruz, Bronzallure, Crieri. Cosimo Muzzano

Leo Pizzo on the wings of a butterfly

//

The jewelry by Leo Pizzo take off with the Light Wings collection: delicate butterflies made with gold and diamonds ♦ ︎
A woman is free as a butterfly. And the Light Wings collection by Leo Pizzo is inspired by the large light wings of the butterflies. Which has a double objective: that of course, to propose a refined jewel to wear, but also the most symbolic one to sing a hymn to lightness. On the other hand, the art of refinement is light, like the hand of the goldsmiths working for Leo Pizzo. Let’s face it: the jeweler based in Valenza does not make life easy for those who have to compose the Maison’s collections. Between pavé and embroidery, trappings and setting of diamonds, the artisans do not have time to get bored. The result, however, gives merit to their effort.
Light Wings butterflies seem to take flight and the reflections of the golden wings take on colorful shades of yellow, pink and silver when they move. A work of difficult tunnel creates a full and empty effect, giving the jewels a beautiful three-dimensional effect that has always been the trademark of the brand. Just like in the other recent Merletti collection (we have already spoken here). Giulia Netrese

Baselworld: win or flop?

Baselworld 2018, number of visitors unchanged. Here’s who is happy and who is puzzled among jewelers ♦ ︎
It depends. The final judgment on Baselworld 2018 can be summarized as follows: it depends. Because the Basel Watch and Jewelery Fair (22-26 March 2018) had two faces. One is the one summarized by two numbers: 1300 and 650. The first is the number of exhibitors, already declining, in 2017 (there were 1500 in 2016). The second is the number of exhibitors in 2018, less than half. A massacre. «A selection», he prefers to call it the managing director of Mch, the company that organizes Baselworld. But, in fact, it depends on the points of view. Faced with such a drastic reduction could have been much worse. The final balance of Baselworld 2018, in the words of the organizers is, if not exciting, at least sufficient. The number of visitors, for example, “has remained stable”. Since the fair lasted two days less, this is considered a success. At the moment we do not know the number of buyers present. 4,400 journalists came to Baselworld, 15% less from Europe, but 5% more from Asia. And if many big brands, such as Festina or Dior, this year have defected the Basel fair, Breitling, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Swatch, Chanel and Gucci have already announced that they will also be present next year, from 21 to 26 March 2019 .
And exhibitors? The opinions are different. Again, it depends. Among the opinions collected by gioiellis.com among jewelers, prevails a lack of enthusiasm for the new formula “concentrated”, which for some is “sad” when compared to the atmosphere that was breathed until a couple of years ago. But at the same time, many have confirmed that commercial activity has not been lacking and, therefore, the presence in Basel still has a reason for being. From the comments collected during the fair, we can summarize the mood:
We are equally satisfied: Fope, Pasquale Bruni, Nanis, Alessio Boschi, Tamara Comolli, Picchiotti, Messika, Mattioli, Rivière
Everything is OK, but some perplexities: Casato, Annamaria Cammilli, Leo Pizzo, Yoko London, Giovanni Ferraris, Djoula, Facet, Crivelli
No comment: Coronet, Sutra, Butani

Baselworld 2018, selection and news

Baselworld 2018 starts with the selection. But news jewelry are not lacking ♦ ︎
“The world is changing fast. Faced with this challenge, there are only two alternatives: to grow larger or to concentrate. We have chosen to concentrate”. The words of Sylvie Ritter, managing director of Baselworld, have opened the new edition, the number 101, of the great fair dedicated to luxury watches and jewelery. Indeed, more and more luxury, because if Baselworld 2017 counted 135,000 total visitors, down from 145,000 in 2016, in November the Mch group, which organizes the fair, announced that it would have halved the list of exhibitors and reduced the duration of the event, two day less, in response to the difficult phase recorded by the Swiss watchmaking players (the export of Swiss watches, however, after two years of crisis started to rise again at + 12.6% in the first few months of 2018). Baselworld also reduced the rental fee for the stands by 10%.
The result is that in Basel there are about 700 exhibitors, almost halved compared to 1,300 in 2017, when they had already fallen by 200 compared to 2016, but still the past year attracted 106 thousand buyers and 4,400 journalists (including those of gioiellis.com). And yet, if there are no more brands like Movado or Eberhard in watchmaking, there are always leading names like Rolex, Patek Philippe, the Swatch group with its many brands, some of which, like Omega. There is also the Lvmh group with Maison like Bulgari and Tag Heuer. And there are many top brands of jewelry, from fashion like Swarovski, or haute joaillerie with Graff, de Grisogono or Harry Winston, up to small Maison but with great creativity like Alessio Boschi, and the classic brands of Italian jewelry, Nanis, Giovanni Ferraris , Annamaria Cammilli, Picchiotti, Fope, Leo Pizzo, Casato, just to name a few. In short, Baselworld has lost weight, but still retains a lot of charm: the 101 years brings them well. We will tell the news in the next few days.

The Merletti by Leo Pizzo

//

Gold and diamond lace: this is the new collection signed by Leo Pizzo ♦ ︎
Merletti, in Italian, is a word synonymous with lace (pizzo). For this reason, perhaps, there is also a bit of irony in the new collection of one of the strong names of Italian jewelry, Leo Pizzo, who presented the new Merletti collection at VicenzaOro January. But, beyond the semantic coincidence, this collection really offers surprising suggestions. As it is easy to guess from the name, the jewels play a lot on the volumes: full and empty, thin and often, big and small. These contrasts are possible thanks to the craftsmanship in constructing the embroideries with which the 18 carat gold jewelery is made. Not only that: the lightness obtained with the fretwork also has the advantage of multiplying the shades of gold when the jewels are in motion, with shades of yellow, pink and silver.
A refined collection, in short. And, on the other hand, Leo Pizzo has just turned 70, the age in which the accumulated wisdom is put to good use. To be precise, in 45 years of profession, after the beginning as an apprentice in Emanuelli & Buzio. After he learned the secrets of the trade, Leo Pizzo demonstrated a natural talent in design, which led him to found his company in Valenza, thanks to the professional support of Rosaria Di Giorgio, gemologist, and wife of the founder of the Maison. Leo Pizzo blooms for his 45

Leo Pizzo is one of those Italian jewelery brand that adhere to the conservative party. In the proper sense of the word: the company likes to keep, ie, what has made good over the last 45 years, a goal that cuts in 2016. The anniversary is accomplished without breaking the tradition that has led over time Leonzio Pizzo from apprentice to a one of leader of the Italian jewelry, the one that is developed in the crucible of Valencia. And here, having regard to VicenzaOro, the rings that roll on fingers and end with a flower in yellow or white gold, with diamonds and pink sapphires or blue. Flowers that repeat in pendents, but with a different shape: five petals formed by as many brilliant-cut diamonds, surrounding another round diamond in the middle. The flowers of spring to bloom by Leo Pizzo also are available in yellow or rose gold, always with diamonds, and take the form of earrings, rings or pendants. A garden for a season that lasts almost half a century and promises to flourish for a long time. Matilde de Bounvilles
