Love at first sight, jewels forever. The romantic story of Kavant & Sharart is signed by two designers based in Bangkok: Nuttapon Yongkiettakul, aka Kenny, and Shar-Linn Liew. The two met in 2004 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Raised in a family of jewelers Nuttapon Yongkiettakul has design in his blood. After graduating from university, the couple moved to California: Kenny attended courses at the Gia, while Shar-Linn completed his studies in the financial sector. Until she was infected with a passion for jewelry. Once married, Kenny and Shar returned to Bangkog and their work attracted the attention of jewelry aficionados.

Kavant & Sharart’s style has nothing oriental about it. Rather, it is inspired by original, modern geometries, with a splash of art deco. The couple also won the debut award at the 2016 Couture Show. Gold, precious stones, but above all a predilection for curves that suddenly stop at acute angles, with volumes that are sometimes deliberately asymmetrical: the Maison’s jewels are also sold from big luxury stores like Harrods, because together with love, business triumphed.

Sharp or very rounded: these are the jewels of Kavant & Sharart, between Thailand and the United States ♦ ︎

Thailand is a special land where jewels grow like wild berries. In short, it is one of the countries in the world where the art of jewelery thrives and multiplies. One of the fruits is represented by the couple composed of Shar-Linn and Kenny, close-knit both in life and profession. And there is a resaon why the Kavant & Sharart brand is also distributed outside of Thailand, in many American cities.

It must be said that diffusion also depends on his style, not at all oriental. Indeed, contaminated by the art deco genre and with sharp geometries, or very soft. Two opposing aspects that are always brought to the limit. Since the launch of the brand in 2011, Kavant & Sharart jewels have been worn by celebrities such as Katy Perry, Hilary Duff, Adriana Lima, Miranda Lambert and Gabrielle Union. And they also won an award at the 2016 Couture Show.

The very western style stems from the fact that Shar-Linn and Kenny met in 2004 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kenny grew up in a jewelry store, with a jeweler father and a goldsmith grandfather. After graduation, the couple moved to California, but today the two live and work between Bangkok and Singapore.

Sharp corners and tight curves for Kavant & Sharart’s collections ♦

A pair in real life, Kenny and Shar-Linn are the two designers of Kavant & Sharart, a jewelry brand founded in Bangkok in 2011 and immediately appreciated in the United States. Theirs is a marriage of opposite styles that mixes colored gemstones, mother of pearl and diamonds, curved lines and sharp angles, the Eastern and Western art, the organic forms of nature and those plastic of sculpture.

The results are completely different collections: Geo-Art is a celebration of the Art Deco and Cubism with simple geometric volumes and clean lines, Talay however, captures the essence of the sea, from a colored background to the ocean waves crashing, in delicate curves and organic elements. Origami in hand, there is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding, which makes gold patterned with a series of folds a modern gem. Finally, Le phoenix takes up the idea of the myth represented by the shape and beauty of themythological animal, with a wing design that alludes to movement, wind and therefore freedom, while the claw draws the corporeal nature of the land, the knowledge and concreteness.
