The modern south of Federico Primiceri

Federico Primiceri, son of Baroque, has brought in the South of Italy the quality jewelery ♦ ︎
There are many designers who have grown up with gold in the blood. Or, better, with precious stones and precious metals at hand, because their parents were goldsmiths. It is part of this patrol Federico Primiceri, a designer who has learned a lot from his goldsmith father in the most baroque city of Italy, Lecce. From the south, Federico moved to the North to refine his vocation, with stages in Valenza and Milan, between design practice and diploma at the Italian Gemological Institute. His work has been pointing straight up, with quality jewelery parading with the event Alchimia delle Formeand with invitations to Istanbul, Moscow, Paris and London.

He is eclectic in style, but not only: he attended the first Jewel Music Event in Lecce in 2008 during the Idea & Design exhibition. In short, it is the proof that counts more talent than location, which is more important fantasy than famouses friends, that wins quality than marketing. From a outside position, Primiceri has managed to create jewels that many of his colleagues in Milan or Rome would not dream of doing. And if they dreamed it, perhaps they would not be able to translate the idea in practice.

The fantastic world of Italian Design

“I’m a painter, and color has a visceral effect on me: certain tones of blue reach the depths of my Self and move me to a place of beauty and happyness despite whatever else is going on in my life.” It’s a Fairy Tale by Italian Design, a company created by young Italians who have the goal of making the essence of Italian products known all over the world. The goal is to bring the excellence of Italian creativity together in search of unique jewelry, and the tradition of producing exceptional objects. The initiative is by the gemologist Alberto Prandoni, from Cuneo, to coordinate the administrative and the team of designers and creatives, while Silvia Prandoni manages the marketing and sales department. A tight-knit duo that, in fact, offers what it promises: a fantasy world of color and virtuosity of jewelry, carvings and elaborate designs. As stated in the official announcement of the company, it seems that the production of rings, earrings and pendants is the result of the creativity of an artist, rather than the cool design of a computer. The result: a festival of hues, shades and contrasts, of course, does not reveal imitations. Neither would be easy to imitate. Here the images of his whimsical jewelry.

The Renaissance of Alessio Boschi

Mark this name: Alessio Boschi. You will hear about him: in the area of jewelry he’s already known for years. But, before you hear about him, look in these photos the extraordinary work he does, and read his story, it’s worth it. Because Alessio Boschi is an artist of the jewel, an uncommon creative, a fusion cuisine’s five star chef applied to gems and gold. His unique pieces, well finished and more, are at once an indictment to the establishment of the jewelry. For two reasons: the first one is that the work of Alessio Boschi opens up a prevailing conformism, even in fine jewelery. The second one is that he, Italian born and graduated in Rome, prides itself on using Asian craftsmanship «and believe me, there are works are almost impossible to get in Italy on grounds of cost and because they are relatively new», explains Alessio to Gioiellis. «One of these is the bazel setting in microscope with tiny stones that blend in different shadows of color: in Bangkok there is an excellent manufacture with more than twenty years of experience. In short, only in Asia there are so skilled artisans in this kind of job. Let’s be clear: I am not the only one. In fact, all the big names in jewelry, both Italian, and French and American, have produced in Asia at least part of their jewels. Only there they do not say it. Of course, in Italy there are others excellent, for example, there are engravers who perform millimetre fissures in the stone to enter a gold leaf so that the stone preserves its transparency: instead of covering the stone he works from the inside. So for the flowering Wisteria necklace, I had the milky aquamarine cut in petals in Bangkok, and then in Italy I had the gold foliage».
