Producing jewelry on behalf of third parties, with the satisfaction of making chains, earrings, necklaces ready to be worn, such as the pieces of the Link collection: Alunno & co has a long tradition among the protagonists of jewelry and metalworking in Tuscany, in Arezzo . It was born in 1977 and has become a consolidated reality, led by Mario Alunno, who continues the family tradition.

Jewelery is interpreted with an almost-fashioned vision: for example, with long earrings made up of small silver chains, or in large necklaces, even in this case made by playing on metal threads, in a key 1970s. They are jewels that point to the impact of metal, the charm of the old, dear, gold that is the symbol of jewelery for millennia. Not surprisingly, in the Etruscan tombs found in Tuscany, jewelry has been found that somehow are linked to this ancient tradition. And Alunno goes on this way.

They became fashionable thanks to the women who fought (having fun) for their freedom in the 1920s ♦

First the feathers appeared, then the fringes and tassels. The decorations that have enlivened the silhouettes on the catwalks of the past seasons, now like a wave overwhelm the world of jewelry. They are the must-have details of next autumn: in gold or bronze to give a little warmth in view of the imminent cold, in leather and fabric with a Far West flavor or with very thin beads that recall the elegance of the Twenties, with Ethno tribal feathers such as the Masai queens or with very Seventy folk beads. Whatever the style and length, they are always very feminine and give that allure of originality, in some cases of daring, to those who wear them. The important thing is to know how to combine clothes and accessories to avoid an excessively theatrical effect.

Fringes and tassels also have a merit that should not be underestimated: they help elongate the face or bust if worn as a necklace. But, of course, this can be counterproductive for those with a particularly elongated face or a thin, narrow torso. In this case, it is better to avoid fringes and tassels. Since jewels of this type usually have a rather accentuated volume, it is also better to avoid combining tassels and fringes with very elaborate dresses, which can aesthetically confuse the appearance.

But beware: fringes are not just an aesthetic choice. In fact, they recall the history of the Flappers. Don’t you know who they were? Bad. The flappers were young women who claimed more freedom in the Twenties in America. To break the stifling conventions of the time, the flappers led a lifestyle considered scandalous, immoral, dangerous. The flappers wanted more economic freedom, to be able to express their opinion in politics and sexual equality.

The young flappers (the origin of the word is unknown) followed fashion, smoked in public, drank alcohol, danced in jazz clubs. It was they, in fact, who introduced the most striking and lively cocktail rings. Moreover, they loved fringed dresses. Another good reason to love fringed jewelry.

There are women who tend to extreme judgment on themselves: they feel like Cinderella or princesses. Sometimes a jewel is enough to help the former to consider themselves better. And Roberto Coin‘s Princess collection can be the right way, also because the series of jewels, divided into different product lines, is designed to be clearly visible and, therefore, self-rewarding. The Princess collection is now enriched with tassels, fringes and pendants that accentuate the romantic style, with art deco accents of the jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets and rings are available in rose, yellow or white gold, with brilliant cut diamonds set nicely in the metal.

Each jewel is engraved by hand through a delicate manufacturing process, which is inspired by the decorative lace of the flowery Gothic, used by the ancient Venetian palaces. The articulated structure hidden in the inner part of each jewel was also used in the Venetian Princess and Princess Flower lines.

Radà, a Romagna brand that loves bijoux with long rows of rhinestones, pearls and beads, single-color waterfalls, chains: they certainly don’t go unnoticed. The creative mind of Radà, the Forlì brand that is about to turn 40, is Daniela Ravaioli, also with the ideas of designer and stylist Muriel Grateau. It is also thanks to her that Radà has chosen to enhance the use of pearls also in an unusual way, together with large golden brass chains and fringes.

The idea of creative bijoux, large and with a lot of personality, has proved to be a success and the brand is now known all over the world: Radà’s jewels are found from Japan to France, to the USA. This is also thanks to the bijoux embroiderers-assemblers, who translate the ideas of Daniela Ravaioli into necklaces or large earrings, who learned to make her creations with a long apprenticeship in Florence. Before founding her brand, however, the designer had experience creating bijoux for the fashion shows of fashion brands, such as Complice, Genny, Lacroix. Then, in the eighties, the synthesis between punk fashion and classic pearls, in an unusual and successful combination. Finally, the passion for sewn jewelery, which was stratified together with the other techniques, which determined the creative originality of Radà.

An American fashion bijoux brand, Lili Claspe, designs for a bridal jewelry brand. Here is the result ♦ ︎
Lili Claspe x Ritani is a capsule collection of jewels. It also marks the debut of an American brand, Ritani, that specializes in diamond jewelery for engagement and marriage. It is a collection of fine jewelry, with prices ranging between 600 and 1300 dollars, in yellow gold and small diamonds. It has its own originality, thanks to the contribution of Stephanie Tchamanian, designer and founder of Lili Claspe, who is instead a fashion bijoux brand. In short, the idea is to offer valuable jewelry, but that meet the taste of a young audience. An operation that many other companies that produce traditional jewelry has tried or thinks to try.
The collection born from the marriage between Ritani and Lili Claspe is composed of 23 models in 14k yellow gold, with colorless diamonds. The fringes on some models, like the earrings, are just an element that can add a vaguely hippy freshness, while the rings or pendants with a long gold bar with diamonds, rather showy, underline the design element, in particular with the use of baguette-cut diamonds. Fringe and Ventaglio (Fan) signed de Grisogono, but not only for the summer.
The soft breeze of a traditional fan is more pleasant air conditioning. And in winter the range can take a simple decorative function. At this traditional accessory, used in many hot countries, it is dedicated to a collection by de Grisogono, jeweler based in Geneva. Ventaglio is simply a collection that consists of four pairs of earrings, but they are particularly fascinating jewels. They have a shape reminiscent of a fan, with diamond lines, sapphires and amethysts of different colors and shades, made from strips of alternating light and darker color, always in the same key. Although the collection only includes earrings, almost the same motif is in the Frange collection. In this case there are three rings, also in this case made around a shade of color, with pink gold, white and brown diamonds or pink sapphires. The stones are arranged as if they entered into a wind tunnel, following a direction. The outer stones are mobile (fringes, in fact), and emphasize the dynamic feel. Alessia Mongrando
