One size less for Allegra

///

The Allegra Classic collection by de Grisogono, renewed, smaller and more accessible ♦ ︎

There are different types of joy. They depend on the state of mind, on the personality and, not least, on the circumstances in which one finds oneself. The same cheerfulness cannot be manifested at a marriage that is lived at a party with friends, at the stroke of midnight on December 31st or on the day of graduation. Thus also the Allegra collection by de Grisogono adapts to the times and places.

Founded in 2003, the Allegra collection has adapted to different habits, fashions and lifestyles. However, it has always maintained its initial shape effect.

According to de Grisogono, the Allegra collection “embodies the woman who, from Cannes to Porto Cervo, from Saint-Moritz to New York, is a free spirit that shines with her audacity imbued with independence”. More likely, though, that these jewels are worn by a woman who loves a less exotic luxury, perhaps in Bari, Dortmund or Lyon. And maybe she works every day. Not surprisingly, in fact, in the various additions to the collection there is also a pendant supported by leather laces: definitely a sporty touch. Moreover, the collection has also reduced its weight and, consequently, the cost: it started with a spiral formed by nine gold wires, and subsequently introduced a seven-wire version and then a five-wire version, which fall to three in the pendant and now in a smaller version. Elegance is the same, while the audience of those who can buy them is expanded. Margherita Donato

Boule light version for de Grisogono

/

The light version of de Grisogono’s Boule collection can be worn on any day ♦ ︎

Take a jewel chosen countless times to be worn on a red carpet or during a gala dinner. And try to redesign it to make it suitable even in less formal situations, more discrete, like those that you live every day. The operation is the one that de Grisogono has decided with the Boule collection, since 1999 one of the most famous of the Maison in Geneva.

The small spheres that give the collection its name and are the characteristic of jewels, are now also available in a light version.

Anelli della collezione Boule

Boule boules are set in light white gold and rose gold, are now also offered in onyx or cacholong, a stone also known as Kalmuck agate: it is a form of opal, sometimes mistaken for agate or chalcedony. Next to the spheres are small brilliant cut diamonds, which add a precious brilliance to the jewel. The boules are used for a bracelet, ring or an aggressive earcuff. Lavinia Andorno

In Geneva, 75 novelty by de Grisogono

//

A flurry of news for de Grisogono. With a new philosophy: to widen the circle of fans of the Maison ♦ ︎

New phase for de Grisogono. In Geneva, the Maison presented several innovations: 75 to be precise, which we will discuss more in more articles. But he also adjusted the strategy.

Collana a tre giri con pavé di diamanti neri e tre diamanti taglio brillante
Collana a tre giri con pavé di diamanti neri e tre diamanti taglio brillante

The idea is to expand the public. Without changing style or compromising, we ever offer beautiful jewelry, but for a wider clientele.
Gianluca Maina, marketing director of de Grisogono

So, next to a spectacular necklace with three turns of black diamonds, with the addition of three brilliant cut diamonds to climb (respectively of 3, 2.5 and 2 carats) with a reinterpretation of the classic (for De Grisigono) pavé of black diamonds introduced ten years ago, here are the continuative Allegra and Ventaglio collections, with jewels designed for more everyday use.

For example, Allegra in pink and semi-paved gold has a rubber necklace and a precious pendant, in a smaller volume compared to the previous vintages.

Una variante della collezione
La variante della collezione Allegra

A mix of very different materials gives a gritty look to the Allegra ring in white gold and black ceramic to be worn together with the bracelet in white gold and black leather. From the iconic world of Allegra, but in the all day wearing version, we move on to the Ventaglio collection, which incorporates the same concept of widening the range: alongside the dazzling white and full pavé gold earrings there is the minimal version, with dimensions smaller, but not lustrous, in rose gold and white diamonds, to wear without looking ridiculous even in the morning.

Also in Geneva, de Grisogono presented capsule collections, non-continuous pieces that change every year.

For 2019 there is the accessible version as volume of the Boule line, played on the combination of materials, ceramics and onyx next to diamonds and white and pink gold. There is also a sutoir that can be worn in three different ways.
Another caspule is Extravaganza, with different lines that baptize Radiant: they look like fireworks in white and pink gold and semi or full set diamonds, with relatively low volumes. Bigger, however, always in the Extravaganza capsule a very geometric interwoven ring, long earrings and bracelet in white gold and full pavé. Monica Battistoni

Fawaz Gruosi says goodbye to de Grisogono

Farewell by Fawaz Gruosi at the board of de Grisogono, the Geneva Maison he founded 25 years ago ♦ ︎

That the changes were in the air was clear. First of all, the announcement of the downsizing of high-jewelery workers, which any case remains a strong point of the Maison. Then, the decision to defect Baselworld. Finally, the recent appointment of Céline Assimon, who became de Grisogono’s chief executive officer, in the position previously occupied by John Leitao. In short, many news in a few months. But the real bomb was a surprise (maybe) for everybody: the farewell of the founder of the Geneva Maison, Fawaz Gruosi.
The announcement came along with the clarification that the farewell of the effervescent jeweler brings the date of December 31st. In the official communiqué, the impact of the news is obviously dampened, with the addition that the decision has been made time ago and that the farewell was going on. But the surprise remains.

Fawaz Gruosi
Fawaz Gruosi

As the founder of this inspirational brand 25 years ago, we are grateful to Fawaz Grusoi for his incredible passion and creativity. For all this time de Grisogono has gone through a fantastic journey, moving from a high-end niche jewelry house to a high-end jewelry player that is now recognized all over the world. In line with our board’s vision and program, de Grisogono is now preparing to enter a new chapter in its history. Under the guidance of Céline Assimon and the talented company team, the design and the atelier will continue to carry out design and craftsmanship as it has been up to now, through a collective process, keeping the tradition made of bold creativity for which the brand is known .
Elmar Wiederin, Chairman of de Grisogono

Certainly the farewell of Fawaz Gruosi will not be painless for the brand, known for its ability to innovate (for example, has anticipated everybody with the use of black diamonds), but also for inspiration, the desire to live and a image linked to the Dolce Vita of our days. Memorable were the parties organized by Gruosi in Cannes or in Sardinia, Costa Smeralda. Models, show stars, artists: all attracted by events in a whirling mix as the design of some surprising Maison jewels. But the curtain sooner or later falls for everyone.

Cascata hours for de Grisogono

//

High jewelery bracelets with built-in clock: the de Grisogono Cascata collection ♦ ︎

They are not watches. Or, more precisely, they are clocks that are indifferent to time. Ok, the technical data indicate that inside there also seems to be a quartz movement that ensures a Swiss precision. But who will wear the three copies of the Cascata collection by the Maison de Genève de Grisogono to see what time it is? These timepiece jewels guarantee more a pleasant aesthetic sensation than an interest in punctuality. They are also jewels full of secrets.

Inside these watch-bracelets there is a golden wire structure studded with precious stones which is at the base of the watch’s silhouette.

Collezione Cascata. Orologio bracciale con cassa in oro rosa con 128 rubini a taglio brillante, 126 ametiste a taglio brillante e 72 ametiste ovali. Quadrante: set con 148 ametiste. Oro rosa chiusura pieghevole con 95 ametiste
Collezione Cascata. Orologio bracciale con cassa in oro rosa con 128 rubini a taglio brillante, 126 ametiste a taglio brillante e 72 ametiste ovali. Quadrante: set con 148 ametiste. Oro rosa chiusura pieghevole con 95 ametiste

That’s why the collection has this name: Cascata. Small jewels studded with 126 brilliant cut diamonds support the 72 oval cut gemstones of a bezel. The claws dominate and punctuate a cascade of stones for a total of over 30 carats, creating a continuum in scale that defines the contours of the oval shape of the watch and reveals the dial encrusted with 148 gems set in snow. The strap is in galuchat.
In short, high jewelry or high watchmaking? To guarantee the most dense setting and to make the gems appear in an inseparable succession, the Maison de Grisogono explains the goldsmiths craftsmen took almost a hundred hours to cut the stones in an oval shape.

I could spend hours simply observing the choreography of the hands, the harmonious dance of the fingers that unite and give life to the materials.
Fawaz Gruosi

The set griffe, the embellished dial with the snow-set and the sculpted caseback with diamond volutes required a 50-hour work for the oval cut stones and 20 hours for the claws and the snow-set of the case back and the scrolls. The bracelet with minutes and seconds is offered in three versions: white gold and white diamonds, white gold with emeralds on top and white diamonds below, pink gold with amethysts on top and rubies underneath. The buckle has new aesthetic lines specially designed to match the philosophy of the Cascata watch: in the center is a rosette cut gem of over one carat framed by a pavé.

Coin, Crivelli, Yoko and Sutra together in Geneva

Crivelli, Roberto Coin, Yoko London and Sutra organize their high jewelry fair in Geneva ♦ ︎

Are large jewelry fairs destined for decline? It is a legitimate question considering what is happening: a diaspora that seems unstoppable. Last year, in May, GemGenève has jointed a hundred jewelers who were unhappy about Baselworld (and for 2019 it will repeat the experiment). And, after the announcement that de Grisogono will disengage the Basel fair to give life to its own event in the third week of January, another four top Maison announce the birth of Haute Jewels Geneva, more or less on the same days (13- 17 January).

The brands that have decided to associate are all prestigious: Crivelli, Roberto Coin, Yoko London and Sutra (however will be in Baselworld).

Grand Hôtel Kempinski, Geneva

These are extremely prestigious brands that, evidently, have decided to carve out a different space. Also the modalities of the mini-fair will be different: the opening time sled from 14 to 22, to make the meeting between the public and jewelry more relaxing. Not only that: the jewelers have chosen the location: the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva, a five-star hotel that ensures a warmer atmosphere than that of a booth.

Also de Grisogono says goodbye to Baselworld

After 18 years also de Grisogono leaves Baselworld: a bad blow for the watch and jewelery fair ♦ ︎

Another bad blow for Baselworld. This time it does not come from a watchmaking brand, such as the Swatch colossus with brands like Longines, Tissot, Omega, which has decided to defect the next event, followed by Raymond Weil, Maurice Lacroix and Corum. Despite the announcement that Baselworld intends to enhance the area of jewelry with a prominent space, a big brand like de Grisogono has announced its farewell.
Instead, the Geneva Maison will organize an exclusive jewelery and watch-making exhibition in the Swiss city where it is located. The exhibition will take place in the Royal Suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Geneva from January 13 to 18, 2019. It’s a goodbye that shivers the new CEO of Baselworld, Michel Loris-Melikoff: de Grisogono, as well as being a great brand of high jewelery, he was an aficionado of the great Swiss fair, where he took part in 18 editions.

Now, however, de Grisogono has decided to redirect energy and investments, in particular of its wholesale network in a more autonomous manner.

Il booth di de Grisogono a Baselworld
Il booth di de Grisogono a Baselworld

In a statement, the Maison founded by Fawaz Gruosi announces that “it has chosen to implement this change to adapt to the evolution of the distribution network and communication channels. In this way, as in other sectors (for example in the Haute Couture), de Grisogono wants to reinvent its approach by incorporating new perspectives”.
Here is the comment by Gianluca Maina, marketing director of de Grisogono:

“Baselworld has played a key role in the growth of our distribution over the last 18 years. Today we are working to build the future of the Maison together with our strategic business partners. A private exhibition highlights this path of change and allows us to apply an innovative approach to this important moment of discovery of novelties. We will present a series of new collections from jewelery to watches. There will be special attention to the jewelry to wear in everyday life. We are enthusiastic about the idea of leaving for this new journey of Grisogono”.

In Milan with de Grisogono

Inaugurated in Milan a Salotto de Grisogono within Pisa Orologeria ♦ ︎

To go from Milan to Rue du Rhône, to Geneva, it takes three hours and 45 minutes by car. Too much for those who want to buy a jewel signed de Grisogono. Now, however, those who live or pass by the Lombard city, which has experienced a tourist boom in recent years, can go to Via Verri, where a lounge dedicated to the famous Swiss Maison has been inaugurated in Pisa Orologeria.

“The opening in Milan in collaboration with Pisa Orologeria represents, for de Grisogono, the strategic opportunity to treat international customers in a privileged context and at the same time to develop the local public”, comments Fawaz Gruosi, founder and creative director of de Grisogono. “Milan is an ideal showcase for us that will allow us to express our values of bold creativity, glamor, unique and unmistakable style. We will welcome customers in our living room with the intention of presenting an exclusive offer in terms of jewelry, fine jewelry and watchmaking, with impeccable service “.

“It is a brand of great prestige and exclusivity that will bring great value to our proposal. The space reserved for de Grisogono will welcome the clientele with its peculiar elegance “adds Chiara Pisa, managing director of Pisa Orologeria.
The Salotto de Grisogono is spread over an area of about 30 square meters on the second floor of the flagship store of Pisa Orologeria. It is, therefore, a boutique in the boutique. In the space are represented the major collections of de Grisogono, as Allegra, Ventaglio and Vortex, but also unique pieces of fine jewelry and watchmaking.

Pisa Diamanti, in Milan new brand and salon

//

The Pisa Diamanti brand was born in Milan, and a new showroom in Pisa Orologeria hosts six big names of high jewelery ♦ ︎

Milan is the Italian capital of fashion, design and economy. But also of jewelry. Of course, in Valenza and Vicenza they are produced. But in Milan they are sold, especially in the so-called Quadrilatero, that is the area around Via Monte Napoleone. And it is precisely here that one of the most historical stages of jewelery is located, and not only. Pisa Orologeria, in via Verri, is a destination for luxury pilgrims, both Italian and foreign, who are looking for pieces that are often extraordinary. And there they find them. Now they can choose even more, because Pisa Orologeria presents two novelties. The first is its own high-end jewelry brand, Pisa Diamanti. The second novelty, however, concerns the opening of a large second floor.

The Pisa Diamanti collection now becomes a real high-end jewelry brand, born from the desire of Maristella and Chiara Pisa to express their values and vision in a line of jewels.

Pisa Diamanti, anello eternity
Pisa Diamanti, anello eternity

The jewels that Pisa Orologeria made without transforming the offer into a brand, are now connected by a strong name. What is defined as a touch of femininity to the universe of jewelry is a collection with deliberately essential frames to enhance what makes a truly precious jewel: diamonds. The collection presented includes tennis necklaces and bracelets, solitaires, earrings and pendants light points. Classic frames, first quality stones and a lancet-shaped griffe, embellished with a setting of diamonds, are the guidelines of the Milanese brand. There are also cufflinks, chevalier rings and even gold and diamond tennis bracelets for men. “Pisa Diamanti gives continuity to the values that have always characterized us according to our tradition: sobriety, elegance, attention to detail and constant research of quality”, comments Maristella Pisa, president of Pisa Orologeria. “Pisa Diamanti is the evolution of the relationship with our female clientele, to which we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, adds Chiara Pisa, managing director.

Diamonds and high jewelery find a place on the second floor of the flagship store.

Il secondo piano di Pisa orologeria

In addition to those of Pisa Diamanti, in the bright and velvety salon there is the best of six high-end jewelery brands. There is something for everyone: Boucheron, Chaumet, Chopard, de Grisogono, Messika and Tamara Comolli. In short, from the most classic high jewelry to the light-hearted, but always on the highest step of the podium. “It is a new point of contact with female customers, to whom we have always dedicated an eye to the watchmaking world”, continues Chiara Pisa. “A new adventure that, starting from September 2018, sees the second floor of the Flagship Store destined for the diamond universe, now renamed the Salone dei Jewels”.
The project was curated by Vittorio Carena Studio. The surface is organized with a large oval of over 100 square meters, which houses the brands, plus a satellite space dedicated to the Salotto de Grisogono. Circular desk and imperial metal cases and precious fabrics are surmounted by a glass and light installation and greeted by a large pastel-colored carpet. True luxury, but sober, very Milanese.

The thousand nuances of de Grisogono

The thousand shades of Melody of Colors high jewelery by de Grisogono ♦ ︎

In 2017 the melody played by Fawaz Gruosi was above all white or, better, with the crystal transparency of the diamonds. In 2018 the sweet sound of high jewelery is, instead, a symphony of colors. Those of the great precious and colored stones. Melody of Colors includes, however, not only creations rich in gems, but also with the exuberant fantasy typical of the Maison, which sometimes favors some unsettling combinations or irreverent forms.

Orecchini con tuchesi a goccia e smeraldi
Orecchini con tuchesi a goccia e smeraldi

The style of Melody of Colors involves the use of finely perforated gold and engraved with the iconic volutes de Grisogono.

The use of black rhodium-plated gold is another of the characteristics, which can enhance the brilliance of the stones, while the metal tunnel lightens the weight of the jewel. Another innovation of de Grisogono is the innovative technique of setting, for example to make the best briolette cuts, to join together the gems with an invisible thread, hiding the underlying material.

The jewels of Melody of Colors include an original mix of sizes, cuts, colors and types of stones, amazing carats.

From the brightness of the pavé to the sinuous movement of the briolette cuts, from the cabochon to the central stones, Melody of Colors offers daring and original combinations, which include exuberant cocktail rings, sumptuous necklaces, earrings and enchanting bracelets.

The secret techniques of de Grisogono

/

The 25th anniversary of the Maison de Genève, de Grisogono, enhances the refined techniques used for the creations of high jewelery ♦ ︎

The Swiss Maison de Grisogono celebrated its first 25 years in 2018. It is natural that the birthday is celebrated by emphasizing its virtues. In particular those applied to high jewelery. One of the aspects that distinguish de Grisogono’s jewels, for example, is to introduce stones from the original cuts, with a surprising variety of colors and proposed in many unusual combinations.
But not only: another important aspect is the ability to limit the use of the metal necessary to block a precious stone to the bare minimum. In many de Grisogono jewels, gold or platinum is almost invisible, so that the stones can be placed side by side as close as possible. As in the case of the ring you see below, with a circle of pear-shaped gems, a burst of baguette edged with brilliantly cut counterparts, prongs studded with gems and imposing central stones. Allegra for 25 years with de Grisogono

The 25 years of de Grisogono celebrated with new pieces from the Allegra collection ♦
Someone says that life is beautiful. For Fawaz Gruosi, founder of de Grisogono, more than beautiful, the life is Allegra. This is the name of one of the successful collections of the Maison de Genève. But perhaps not everyone knows that Allegra is also the name of Gruosi’s eldest daughter, who became the muse of the collection.
Allegra is de Grisogono’s most enduring collection: it debuted in 2003. This is why it was chosen to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the high-end jewelery brand. Of course, new pieces have been added, as well as a jewel-watch that we have already anticipated in another article. The rings that celebrate the first 25 years of activity play on the shape of the spiral composed of intertwined rings and show the number of the birthday engraved. They are shiny bands of gold studded with precious stones that twist together without ever merging. But as the joy is not always the same, even the Allegra collection is divided into moods and shapes, different, even with the use of bands in colored leather or ceramic. And so, here they are Allegra Glow and Allegra Toi et Moi, which we will discuss in more detail in another article. Giulia Netrese

Vip party with de Grisogono’s jewels

A big party on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival to celebrate the first 25 years of the Maison de Grisogono. That’s who there was ♦ ︎
High jewelry and celebrity, a marriage that does not know divorce. So it is, every year at the Cannes Film Festival and this year was no exception. Here then is a series of models and actresses jeweled by the Maison ginevrina de Grisogono, which celebrated its 25th anniversary with a great party.
A quarter of a century, in fact, is an important date. And in Villa des Oliviers, in Antibes, the landlord Fawaz Gruosi welcomed 300 guests for a dinner-show. Among the celebrities present, Alessandra Ambrosio, Nicole Scherzinger, Winnie Harlow, Maria Borges, Cindy Bruna, Michelle Rodriguez, Natasha Poly, Toni Garrn, Chris Tucker, Mette Towley. «I come from a family that celebrates life every day, in intense, sad or happy moments, it is a way to avert fate and welcome destiny with positivity. To surround ourselves with important people, who count and trust us for years is another way to celebrate the path we have made in these 25 years and to write the sequel of our history under the best auspices “, commented the Swiss jeweler’s. Cannes, here is the high jewelry de Grisogono

High jewelery signed de Grisogono for the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Here are the first exceptional pieces ♦ ︎
Among the fixed presences at the Cannes Film Festival there are not an actor or a director, but a jeweler: Fawaz Gruosi, founder of de Grisogono. The Geneva Maison in 2018 celebrates a quarter of a century. And the 25 years are destined to be celebrated on the red carpet with new creations of fine jewelry. As is tradition, de Grisogono does not present luxury jewelery which go unnoticed. On the contrary, the style of the Geneva brand includes strong contrasts, extra bright stones, and as usual, between white and black diamonds. Among the six pieces of high jewelery, which you see on this page, for models and actresses is also reserved the pleasure of wearing an Allegra ring, collection which debuted in 2003. The ring includes a pear-cut diamond of maximum quality: color D, FL clarity, weight of 5.34 carats with claws coated with brilliant cut emeralds. A decidedly out of the ordinary piece. There is also a wavy necklace with 247 carats of rubies on blackened rose gold, six brilliant cut diamonds from 1.50 to 3.80 carats. A piece without doubt exceptional. But that’s not all: in Cannes the Maison de Genève is getting ready to show off other jewels, stay tuned. Giulia Netrese

On Earth with de Grisogono

The Earth according to de Grisogono is round like the high jewelry of the Gaïa ︎collection ♦
Gaia is a personal female name in Italian, but it is also that of the primordial goddess who personifies the Earth in Greek mythology. In short, it is an important character. And it is no coincidence that de Grisogono has dedicated a new collection of high jewelery to the goddess of the world. The round form, developed and multiplied with many small spheres, seems an eruption of many worlds ready to transform into a planet on which Nature reigns.
But, beyond philosophical speculations, Gaïa di de Grisogono jewels also show the usual surprising vitality of design. They are earrings and rings do not go unnoticed, and not only for their generous size, but also for the design dictated by the materials used. The Maison has, in fact, accustomed her fans to a creativity that is not limited to the form, but also to the choice of materials. In this case, the jewels are presented in two different versions: one made with creamy white cacholong opal, with shiny pink gold pearls decorated with diamonds, or with a contrast created by turquoise and tsavorites set on white gold pearls. Moi, Toi and de Grisogono

//

The Moi & Toi collection by de Grisogono, in white or pink gold with onyx or cachalong ♦ ︎
You and me, in jewelry language, it’s translates as toi et moi. The expression in French indicates a precise type of jewelry, those composed of two poles that symbolize, in fact, the components of a couple. It’s inevitably, therefore, that sooner or later a Maison of jewelery will face this type of jewel, as is now the case with de Grisogono. The brand created by Fawaz Gruosi presents the Toi & Moi collection which has all the trappings of the genre just described. Beyond the poetic presentations and romantic dedications to the love of a couple, reality is more concrete: jewels with two poles have their own charm. Perhaps because they double the points of attention, are twice as valuable, can be seen and often worn in two different perspectives. It’s real that this kind of jewel always like even a single woman and this is enough to put aside the flights of fancy love symbolized in a jewel. The Toi & Moi collection by de Grisogono presents jewels with two plots studded with diamonds, with a hard stone cabochon. Two versions: rose gold and cachalong (an opal opaque) or white gold and onyx. Lavinia Andorno

Millefoglie for de Grisogono

//

The Millefoglie collection by de Grisogono: rings, bracelets and earrings in white or pink gold with diamonds ♦ ︎
If you are in Italy and ask for a millefeuille they give you a slice of cake with puff pastry and cream. But if you go to Switzerland, in Geneva, in the flagship store of de Grisogono, you will be more fortunate: they will bring you the jewels of the Millefoglie collection. It gives a sweet feeling, but it is sugar-free, don’t put you weight, and it certainly makes your appearance look better than what comes with a cake-based diet. The Millefoglie collection by de Grisogono is made up of jewels created by juxtaposing pink or white gold plates, to which are added brilliant cut diamonds, even of a certain carat and sometimes irregularly set. The layers of gold are parallel but at the same time undulating. This oscillatory pattern of the design creates a movement that increases the charm of the jewel and makes it more interesting. Furthermore, it makes the pieces wearable despite their grandeur. The collection consists of a pair of earrings, a ring and a double-loop bracelet, which literally wraps around the wrist with its irregular waves.

Baselworld 2018, selection and news

Baselworld 2018 starts with the selection. But news jewelry are not lacking ♦ ︎
“The world is changing fast. Faced with this challenge, there are only two alternatives: to grow larger or to concentrate. We have chosen to concentrate”. The words of Sylvie Ritter, managing director of Baselworld, have opened the new edition, the number 101, of the great fair dedicated to luxury watches and jewelery. Indeed, more and more luxury, because if Baselworld 2017 counted 135,000 total visitors, down from 145,000 in 2016, in November the Mch group, which organizes the fair, announced that it would have halved the list of exhibitors and reduced the duration of the event, two day less, in response to the difficult phase recorded by the Swiss watchmaking players (the export of Swiss watches, however, after two years of crisis started to rise again at + 12.6% in the first few months of 2018). Baselworld also reduced the rental fee for the stands by 10%.
The result is that in Basel there are about 700 exhibitors, almost halved compared to 1,300 in 2017, when they had already fallen by 200 compared to 2016, but still the past year attracted 106 thousand buyers and 4,400 journalists (including those of gioiellis.com). And yet, if there are no more brands like Movado or Eberhard in watchmaking, there are always leading names like Rolex, Patek Philippe, the Swatch group with its many brands, some of which, like Omega. There is also the Lvmh group with Maison like Bulgari and Tag Heuer. And there are many top brands of jewelry, from fashion like Swarovski, or haute joaillerie with Graff, de Grisogono or Harry Winston, up to small Maison but with great creativity like Alessio Boschi, and the classic brands of Italian jewelry, Nanis, Giovanni Ferraris , Annamaria Cammilli, Picchiotti, Fope, Leo Pizzo, Casato, just to name a few. In short, Baselworld has lost weight, but still retains a lot of charm: the 101 years brings them well. We will tell the news in the next few days.

Two special pieces by de Grisogono

//

Two pieces of high jewelery from the Melody of Diamonds collection by de Grisogono ♦ ︎
The high jewelery signed de Grisogono consists of exceptional pieces. Like those that are part of the Melody of Diamons collection presented during the summer of 2017 and which we have already talked about here goo.gl/GyeLUi
But there are two special pieces that are worth observing with more attention (or admiration, you can chose). The first piece is the white gold necklace consisting of a brilliant-cut white diamond (53.23 carats), 43 marquise-cut white diamonds (24.23 carats), another 180 small white diamonds (2.11 carats) and 1,706 black diamonds (198 , 07 carat). The particularity of the necklace, in addition to the quantity of stones, is the brilliant cut diamond that becomes a pendant that can be removed. The necklace is matched with two white gold earrings composed of an emerald-cut white diamond (5.13 carats), another emerald-cut white diamond (5.7 carats), and 743 white diamonds (16.03 carats). Difficult to find something similar. Alessia Mongrando

The hour is Allegra con de Grisogono

/

Allegra, the jewel-watch signed by de Grisogono 25 years after the debut of the Maison ♦ ︎
His name is Allegra. But, in reality, it is easier than it is an adjective, cheerful (means allegra in italian language), written with the small letter. And that the adjective refers to the lucky woman who will receive as gift (or can afford to buy) the de Grisogono watch-jewel. The piece is part of the “so de Grisogono” collection, the first jewel of the Maison de Genève, 25 years ago, and for this reason it holds a special place in the history of the brand.
The Allegra 25 jewel-watch is composed of a gold ribbon, delicately intertwined rings that create an elegant, fluid and continuous movement that lets light pass through the material. The 29 gold rings, polished or set with diamonds, surround the dial. The dial is in mother-of-pearl or with pavé diamonds. The jewel watch has a dimension of 41.7 mm, with 4.80 carats of stones in a dance of «serti neige» (diamonds are placed next to each other playing on their different diameters from 0.5 to 1.6 mm) and «serti clos» (a closed set). The strap is of galuchat, a classic of the Maison.
The Allegra 25 is available in five sets. Another will be presented at Baselworld (22-27 March 2018). Cosimo Muzzano
