The Precious Skylines by David Morris

High jewelry signed David Morris: the Maison of Bond Street, in London, has added more stars in the sky of the British capital. Its Skylines collection, made up of extraordinary white and colored diamonds, also features a series of jewels inspired by ancient Egypt. The element that takes you back to the time of the pyramids is the use of lapis lazuli, a stone dear to the pharaohs, together with diamonds and stones such as the rare black opal. The style of the new pieces also adds a rigorous geometry, with straight and symmetrical lines.

Creative director Jeremy Morris, however, went even further, without abandoning the London jeweler’s predilection for diamonds and maxi precious stones. As for the Capola necklace, with a geometric motif composed of rock crystal and diamonds, with a cabochon sapphire weighing over 48 carats in the centre. Or with the Aurora Maelstrom ring, with an exceptional pear-cut blue diamond weighing 4.28 carats in the center, surrounded by pink and white diamonds. The skyline in London is increasingly precious.

The jewels of Mr David Morris

//

The exceptional pieces of jewelry from one of London’s symbols: David Morris ♦

David Morris is one of those jewelers who won fame by joining the goldsmith skills with the ability to attract famous customers. A cocktail that is still appreciated: his boutique, opened in London in 1962 in Bond Street, is still popular with those seeking precious jewels precious, such as those purchased by Richard Burton to Elizabeth Taylor, or by Imelda Marcos, Benazir Bhutto and the Sultan of Brunei. On the other hand, David Morris is a man that knows about jewelry, because he grew up together: he started as an apprentice in Hatton Garden, the jewelery quarter in London, in 1951, when he was only 15.

In short, he learned everything there was to learn. He has built its reputation by choosing to combine high quality stones design sparkling, rich, gorgeous. In recent years he has taken a step back and now the collections are cared by his son Jeremy. In any case the jewels are ever of high level, although unlikely to happen again to work a diamond D, briolette, 78 carat, as the one with which, a few years ago, has composed a necklace for $ 2 million. And although the patriarch explained long ago that his stone is the emerald, in his collections you can find anything, especially diamonds, white or colored (“a great investment” he comments). Here are some of the most fascinating pieces of its collections. But among the novelties of David Morris for 2022 there is also a line of jewelry exclusively for Farfetech, the online shopping platform for luxury products.

The Impressions of David Morris

//

Born relatively recently, in 1962, the London-based jewelry David Morris immediately stood out for the quality and richness of its collections. In particular, the high jewelery collections often feature pieces of maharaja-like opulence. This is also the case for the Impressions high jewelery collection, presented at the Paris Couture Week. Rare and magnificent precious stones are the real inspiring motif of the collection.

As for the Monsoon necklace, which combines contrasting cuts and motifs to renew a classic collar design: a sketch from 1962 confirms its roots. The jewel also has adjustable closures, which allow you to transform it from a choker or into a sautoir necklace for the evening. The emeralds of the necklace are interspersed with white, shield-shaped, fancy-cut diamonds, specially cut for the design. With their clean-cut corners, diamonds are paired with the gentle curves of cabochon emerald drops, while tiny white gold hinges are hidden behind the gemstones to ensure perfect shape and flexibility.

The collection, however, also uses colored titanium for jewels with a less classic and more modern style. The Evergreen earrings, with 27 carats of emeralds, have almost neon reflections thanks to the green titanium setting, offset by white diamonds. The Tetras bracelet, on the other hand, uses turquoise and diamonds, along with a 10-carat blue Madagascar sapphire.

David Morris’ new high jewelry

//

Times change and the health emergency forces even the most famous Maison to focus everything on e-commerce. This is the case of David Morris, a London Maison also famous for making jewels for the James Bond film series and various pieces commissioned by royal families. Now, however, it is the turn of Renaissance, a high jewelery collection presented not in the showroom, but on the Farfetch web portal, which already hosts the jewels of the English brand. The collection consists of 13 pieces, four of which will be available for purchase directly online, while the others will be sold through the retailer’s private customer services. One of the highlights of the Renaissance collection is the Rubia choker necklace, with white cabochon rubies and diamonds, made with over 380 carats of the rarest Burmese rubies of an intense red color. The necklace is paired with earrings that combine 32 carats of extraordinarily deep red rubies and white diamonds in a variety of cuts.

David Morris’s initiative is also a sign of how online jewelry purchases no longer only concern fine jewelry collections, but also more expensive pieces. Farfetch already has partnerships with luxury jewelery houses, such as Chopard, De Beers and Tag Heuer. David Morris, who in the past presented his collections during the haute-couture week in Paris, represents another blow scored by the portal.

David Morris’ high jewelery in the Electric Geometric Collection

//

High jewelery capable of shock up that of David Morris. During the haute couture week, the British jeweler showed some pieces from his Electric Geometric Collection in Paris. Electrifying jewels, in fact, given that the shapes and composition of these unique pieces are to be considered at the top.

For example, the Sunrise bracelet: an abstract and modern interpretation of the sun’s rays emerging on the horizon and making their way through the clouds. The bracelet is made up of over 2,000 white diamonds, set with a technique that uses 3D modeling and prototyping. In short, goldsmith’s art alongside technology: tiny hinges, each made by hand, allow the bracelet to open and lie completely flat. It is undoubtedly an exceptional piece. The Hexagon bracelet takes its name from the hexagons that make up the texture of the jewel, inspired by bee hives and snowflakes, but also by cells. It took almost two years to complete, with many of the white and pink diamonds cut to size for symmetry, with the aim of adapting to the cells of the design. Each of the latter is a separate piece which, according to David Morris, represents a technical turning point for the workshop of the atelier in the creation of flexible spring bracelets.

Among the pieces of the collection, the Phoenix earrings also stand out, with almost 25 carats of Paraíba tourmaline and white diamonds, but also the Chrysalis necklace and earrings set, which represents the moment when a butterfly is transformed. The necklace is composed of pink and white pear cut diamonds, the largest of which is over 7 carats.

David Morris, the new high jewelery

The new high-end jewelery signed by the London Maison David Morris ♦ ︎

Start from nothing and become a jeweler of kings and queens. It is the story of David Morris, who recently presented his new high jewelery pieces in Paris. In the French capital where, among other things, he also opened a boutique in Rue Saint Honoré.

Among the great jewels shown during the week of haute couture, there are earrings with opals and tourmalines, and bracelets with the rare conch (pronounced konk) pearl.

Jewels to admire before being worn. And who knows if any of these jewels will end up in the hands of some owner with blazon. David Morris, who founded his own Maison in 1962, in fact, produced a series of famous pieces, including the crown of Miss World, jewels for James Bond films and, above all, several pieces commissioned by royal families.

A reputation that David Morris obtained starting out as an apprentice at the age of 15, after having just graduated as a goldsmith at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. Now the Maison is directed by her son Jeremy, who instead studied fine arts in London and followed five years of apprenticeship with jewelers of Place Vendôme and a diamond supplier from Antwerp. Jeremy Morris also had the task of creating jewelery for a series of celebrities, from designer Gianni Versace, to Barbra Streisand, Keira Knightley, Oprah Winfrey, Yasmin Le Bon, Catherine Deneuve, Kate Winslet, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Adele. Oui, je suis David Morris

It opens in Paris the boutique of London jeweler David Morris. Opulence, but with style ♦
After more than half a century of success, but with British aplomb, the classic London brand, David Morris, crosses the English Channel. Conducted by the founder’s son, Jeremy Morris, the Maison of New Bond Street, in the heart of the British capital, opens in the same classical Rue Saint Honoré, at number 364, just steps from Place Vendôme.
As a jeweler among the rich bourgeoisie and British nobility favorites, David Morris adds the French to flags planted in Palm Beach, Moscow, Dubai, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Doha as well as, of course, London. If you are in the shade of the Eiffel Tower and wish to observe Mr Morris’s jewels, you will find the boutique designed by Eugène Brunelle, artist-architect who has chosen glass and alabaster panels, crystals, quality materials, playing with Colors and refraction of light, alongside brown or copper-colored metal fibers, elongated oval mirrors. And, of course, prestigious jewels, gold and precious stones. Precious but never vulgar. In short, posh. Margherita Donato

Liz Taylor’s jewels come back at Christie’s auction

Christie’s unveils new exceptional jewelry in the auction catalog of 17 May in Geneva
In Geneva, on 17 May, Christie’s will auction a 92 carat exceptional diamond-shaped heart, perfect. We’ve talked about here.
But that day will be for sale also many other interesting jewelry. In addition to those already anticipated in this article, there are others that the auction house has anticipated. Among them, there are some that belonged to Liz Taylor. In December 2011, Christie’s has already put on sale the collection of Elizabeth Taylor with these earrings and bracelet burmese rubies and diamonds signed Cartier. The jewels were part of the parure of jewels given to Elizabeth Taylor in August 1957 by her then husband, Mike Todd. Now are back on sale. The actress was famous for his passion for jewelry. But he was not the only woman with this enjoyable hobby. At the auction in Geneva, for example, you are selling the collection of an anonymous “elegant lady”, who apparently does not like the fame. The collection, however, is really top level. It includes a diamond necklace by Chopard, with a shaped D color diamond weight of approximately 56.03 carats pear (has a rating of up to US $ 7 million), in addition to exceptional jewelry created by Graff, De Grisogono and David Morris.
The space of the virtuous
For those who love the high jewelry, high design, there is a piece signed Jar (Joel Arthur Rosenthal) mysterious as creative maestro of jewelry. American by birth, Parisian by adoption, is considered a creative worship. Her earrings with diamonds are a delicious candy for collectors. An other talented designers is the Indian Viren Bhagat, who from Mumbai produces no more than 60 pieces a year. In the auction there will be a pair of her earrings with diamonds and rubies.
Cartier view from Éric Nussbaum
It has been recognized as one of the most eminent experts of Cartier and was hailed by his peers as “Eye”, an homage to the virtuoso level of its taste and refinement. And now the pieces of the vast collection owned by the expert, who died in 2003, are to be auctioned. It’s an interesting occasion: suffice it to say that the Nussbaum collection consists of over 1,600 jewelry and objects.
The charm of the sixties
The jewelry in Italy has experienced a moment of glory in the sixties. At the «dolce vita» of the jewel it is dedicated to a Christie’s auction section. From Buccellati to Villa or Bulgari, will be offered 40 jewels of that magical time. Federico Graglia
