The diamonds that mark the hours of Coronet

x

There are several watches with diamonds. But a watch that has a diamond-shaped face is new. The idea comes from Coronet Diamonds, a brand of the Aaron Shum group based in Hong Kong, but which sells its diamond jewels all over the world. Coronet has launched a new range of diamond watches that actually features a hand-drawn 3D image of a brilliant-cut gemstone on the dial. The author of the watch is Canadian designer Reena Ahluwalia, who is also a passionate diamond painter and has been collaborating with Coronet for years.

Two years ago, for example, Coronet won a Guinness World Record for her Mudan watch, thanks to the largest number of diamonds set on a watch: 15,858, for a total of 50.01 carats. The Mudan watch is in 18-karat gold, and has a 3D diamond dial made by Reena Ahluwalia. The flower that encloses the diamond is a peony, a flower that in Asia symbolizes nobility, honor and wealth. Peony (Chinese name is Mudan 牡丹) is known as the king of flowers in Chinese culture.

Tennis bracelet, who started the game?

/

Tennis bracelets are one of the most successful jewels: they are elegant and easy to wear. But do you know why they are called tennis bracelets? Their name comes from … ♦ ︎

Things to know: from time to time tennis bracelets appear in the collections. It is a type of bracelet that is usually made of gold and a row of diamonds, sometimes with other precious stones as well. The line of stones of the tennis bracelet is continuous even if, over time, other versions have also been proposed. But why is it called a tennis bracelet? Is it a piece of jewelry you need to play with rackets and balls? Who decided to call them that? What does Grand Slam sport have to do with it? Here is the answer: the tennis-like bracelet has a rather recent history. That is, it does not belong to those great traditions of jewelery, codified starting from the nineteenth century, but it established itself relatively recently. The tennis bracelet, in fact, was born in 1987, thanks to a tennis player.

Bracciale tennis di Morellato

The line of diamonds that has no beginning or end was actually associated with the desire for eternal love. In fact, originally, its name was just eternity bracelet, in analogy with the same type of ring. What does tennis have to do with it, then? Simple, this bracelet became famous because it was always worn by one of the best (some say even the best) tennis player, the American Chris Evert. To give an idea, Chris Evert remained consistently at the top of world tennis in the 1970s and 1980s, and was number one in the official rankings for seven years. Well, she loved eternity bracelets, which she often wore even during games. Indeed, we remember a funny episode: during a US Open match Chris lost a diamond bracelet signed Coronet. The game was then suspended to recover the precious jewel. Since that time the diamond bracelet has been called a tennis bracelet. In short, tennis has replaced eternity with a hit of the racket.

There are 15,858 diamonds on this watch

Here is the clock covered with the largest number of diamonds: 15.858. It is the world record of Coronet ♦ ︎

Once they presented an electric guitar made with 1.6 kilograms of 18 carat gold and 400 carats of diamonds. Last year it was the turn of a bottle-shaped Coca-Cola bag also with a maxi pavé of diamonds. Another record. But Coronet could not avoid have another world record, the ninth, on the official record of the Guinness Book of Records. So at Baselworld the Chinese jewelry company showed a watch covered with diamonds. What is the extraordinary aspect? The record for “the largest number of diamonds on a watch”.

The clock of the ninth Guinness is called Mudan, the Chinese name of the peony, and is covered with 15,858 diamonds, for a total of 50.01 carats. The timepiece (but perhaps it should be called the diamonds time ) is made in 18-carat gold with a diamond dial designed by the artist Reena Ahluwalia, who has already collaborated with Coronet. The clock is inspired by the peony flower, which for Chinese culture symbolizes nobility, honor and wealth. The diamond-shaped painted display made by Reena “represents the brilliant nobility we carry inside”. Peony (Mudan 牡丹) is known as the king of flowers in Chinese culture.

By Coronet a case for iPhone with 6576 diamonds

An iPhone case covered with diamonds. As a stick for lipstick: these are the new Coronet records ♦ ︎

A record, a primacy, a podium, always have a certain effect. But perhaps Aaron Shum, founder of Coronet and president of Aaron Shum Jewelry Limited of Hong Kong does not get too excited: he is accustomed to the primates. A few years ago he presented a electric guitar, unique in the world: a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass with 16.033 Swarovski crystals. In 2015 it was the turn of the most precious guitar in the world: a Gibson covered with diamonds weighing 400 carats, 1.6 kilograms of 18 carat gold, worth 2 million dollars. In March he surprised everyone with a bottle shaped Coca-Cola bag studded with 9888 diamonds. And in 2018 he won another best record with an iPhone case covered with 6576 diamonds, weighing 16.95 carats. When we say primacy it is not by way of saying.

At VicenzaOro, Mr. Aaron Shum received the certificate from Guinness World Records.

In fact, it is difficult for anyone to make a cell phone case that is more precious than this. But not only. Because Coronet has also presented another object of primacy: a lipstick, also covered with small diamonds. In this case the diamonds are 2216, for 18.6 carats. Even the lipstick has received a certificate that attests the world record. Coronet, however, also emphasizes the innovative setting, which allows diamonds to float in an absolutely transparent material, which is also used for the manufacture of bullet-proof glass. And this avoids the use of metal prongs.

It’s time for Vicenza Oro

VicenzaOro expands: here are the events planned inside and outside the Fair pavilions ♦ ︎

The result can be drawn at the end. But VicenzaOro September 2018 seems to be immune from the Baselworld syndrome, the one that has removed many jewelery and watch brands from the exhibition halls. The autumn edition of the fair (22-26 September) seems to start with good vitality. For the first time, for example, the entire city of Vicenza has been involved, with a series of events outside the Vicenza Fair complex, in a sort of festival that is not only dedicated to jewelery, but also to culture and to the gastronomy (even the jewelers are gourmand).
In addition, one of the cards played by the Italian Exhibition Group, but which was launched before the merger between Fiera Vicenza and Fiera di Rimini, is the intuition that in a global world you can not stay in your tower. It necessary get busy. And so VicenzaOro has become a format to export: a brand that has taken root in Dubai, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Mumbai. Result: 4500 companies involved in the VicenzaOro system, with 96 thousand visitors coming from over 130 countries in the world and 3,800 top buyers.

Gold and street food

As mentioned, VicenzaOro also expands to the outside. The outside fair is called Vioff – Golden taste edition, conceived and organized by the Municipality of Vicenza in the historic center. After the gold visitors and exhibitors will find food and culture, including exhibitions like the one organized at the Jewelery Museum, concerts, street food, animations, shops and museums open, until the grand finale in Piazza dei Signori. At 9 pm, in Piazza dei Signori at the Soprana jewelry store, D’Orica will present Treesure, a jewel that comes from the encounter between silk and gold. In collaboration with the City of Vicenza and VicenzaOro will take shape a performance of the school children Palladio Danza and Contemporary Sinergie.

Two new collections of Coronet

At the Jck Las Vegas Coronet presents two new collections designed by Reena Ahluwalia ♦ ︎
Coronet, a Hong Kong brand that is part of the Aaron Shum group, has long been working with the Canadian designer Reena Ahluwalia. At JCK Las Vegas here are two new collections resulting from the synergy: the Alyssum Collection and Silver Soul Carousel.
Alyssum collection is centered on the shape of the flowers. A collection that Coronet defines as «light, easy, airy» and is inspired, in particular to alyssum, a flower with a sweet and persistent scent. According to Reena Ahluwalia, the four petals of Alyssum represent love, passion, dreams and hope. The jewels are also the testimony of the designer’s stylistic brand: the flower with a four-pointed star in the center. The jewels are available in 18-carat rose gold, or yellow and white, set with diamonds and in some cases with enamel. Reena, they explain to Coronet, used enamel to show the color, attitude and individual expressions that consumers seek today. Price: the Alyssum collection starts at $ 499.
Silver Soul Carousel is instead a collection that uses sterling silver together with Swarovski Created Stones. It’s a collection with affordable prices, starting at $ 299.
Also in Las Vegas, Coronet presents the Inner Brilliance Spinning Diamond collection, again designed by Reena Ahluwalia, the Guinness Book of Records presented at Baselworld in the shape of Coca-Cola, with almost 10,000 diamonds. Lavinia Andorno

Baselworld: win or flop?

Baselworld 2018, number of visitors unchanged. Here’s who is happy and who is puzzled among jewelers ♦ ︎
It depends. The final judgment on Baselworld 2018 can be summarized as follows: it depends. Because the Basel Watch and Jewelery Fair (22-26 March 2018) had two faces. One is the one summarized by two numbers: 1300 and 650. The first is the number of exhibitors, already declining, in 2017 (there were 1500 in 2016). The second is the number of exhibitors in 2018, less than half. A massacre. «A selection», he prefers to call it the managing director of Mch, the company that organizes Baselworld. But, in fact, it depends on the points of view. Faced with such a drastic reduction could have been much worse. The final balance of Baselworld 2018, in the words of the organizers is, if not exciting, at least sufficient. The number of visitors, for example, “has remained stable”. Since the fair lasted two days less, this is considered a success. At the moment we do not know the number of buyers present. 4,400 journalists came to Baselworld, 15% less from Europe, but 5% more from Asia. And if many big brands, such as Festina or Dior, this year have defected the Basel fair, Breitling, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Swatch, Chanel and Gucci have already announced that they will also be present next year, from 21 to 26 March 2019 .
And exhibitors? The opinions are different. Again, it depends. Among the opinions collected by gioiellis.com among jewelers, prevails a lack of enthusiasm for the new formula “concentrated”, which for some is “sad” when compared to the atmosphere that was breathed until a couple of years ago. But at the same time, many have confirmed that commercial activity has not been lacking and, therefore, the presence in Basel still has a reason for being. From the comments collected during the fair, we can summarize the mood:
We are equally satisfied: Fope, Pasquale Bruni, Nanis, Alessio Boschi, Tamara Comolli, Picchiotti, Messika, Mattioli, Rivière
Everything is OK, but some perplexities: Casato, Annamaria Cammilli, Leo Pizzo, Yoko London, Giovanni Ferraris, Djoula, Facet, Crivelli
No comment: Coronet, Sutra, Butani

This Coca Cola has 9888 diamonds

/

A bottle shaped Coca Cola bag studded with 9888 diamonds: it is Coronet’s record-breaking idea ♦ ︎
Can you have fun with the jewels? Yes, in many ways. There are those who enjoy shopping and those who play with diamonds and gold as elements of a puzzle. That’s what makes Coronet, a Hong Kong jewelry brand specializing in diamonds. Every so often Coronet surprises with its initiatives: after realizing, in 2015, an electric guitar, a real instrument, completely covered with with 400 carats of diamonds white and black, at Baselworld 2018 the brand has established another record Guinness. This time the world record regards the highest number of diamonds set on a bottle-shaped Coca Cola handbag. It is worth looking at what is a jewel that is unlikely to be used in real life. The bottle-shaped bag of the most popular drink has 9,888 diamonds for 120 carats.
Coronet presented his stock exchange at Baselworld, stating that the production required about a hundred days of work by 15 artisans. Diamonds are placed on a surface of Icestrella, a material used in the creation of bulletproof glass, which replicates the appearance and the atmosphere of the famous glass bottle. The design, on the other hand, is by American Kathrine Baumann (who is a former Miss America), while the realization is by Aaron Shum Jewelry, the company that owns the Coronet brand.
So, if you complain about the price of the handbags of famous brands, think that there is one that undoubtedly costs more.

How Coronet and Reena shine

Coronet and Reena Ahluwalia show the result of collaboration: the Inner Brilliance collection.
Reena Ahluwalia is a designer specializing in diamonds who lives in Toronto, Canada. Coronet is a trademark of Aaron Shum Jewelry based in Hong Kong. The result of collaboration between the two, that it was announced in September, was shown at Baselworld 2017.
Read also Diamonds at wall
The designer has given her name to an entire line, Inner Brilliance, a jewelry collection obviously made from diamonds. There are two extra things to note: Coronet uses its patented set that combines seven different diamonds to form a single unit, creating the effect of a large solitaire. Reena Ahluwalia, for its part, has worked around this combination to build the collection, consisting of colorless diamonds, but also rubies, mounted on gold 18 carat white, pink or yellow. The collection consists of necklaces, pendants, earrings and rings. At Baselworld, in any case, Reena also presented one of his paintings depicting, obviously, a diamond. Lavinia Andorno

Diamonds on the wall

Coronet, brand specializes in diamond jewelry, entrusts its image to the Canadian designer Reena Ahluwalia.
In Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, the company specialized in diamond, Aaron Shumand and his brand Coronet, announced the collaboration with the award-winning Canadian designer of jewelry and diamonds, but also a painter, Reena Ahluwalia. The designer painted a picture for Coronet.
Reena Ahluwalia is a designer who lives in Toronto, Canada. She is one of the greater jewelery artists: she design collections for major brands and, at the same time, creates large paintings with diamonds and precious stones. For his work he received a long list of awards and accolades, including the coveted De Beers Diamonds-International Award and the Diamonds Rio Tinto design award. Born in India, she absorbed the passion of the Indians for jewelry, but at the same time, she embraced a Western-type style. Reena has put her signature to the ornamental design as those who entrusted Rio Tinto to inaugurate the Bunder diamond mine, in Madhya Pradesh, India. Or for a tiara by Asscher, a tribute to the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton. At this work we add the creation of hyper-realistic paintings of cut stones, not only diamonds, that look like mandalas, ritual representations for meditation. In a nutshell, if you do not have a big diamond you can always draw it. Giulia Netrese

Coronet, a show with diamonds

The lot of peple who love diamonds can satiate their eyes with these images signed Aaron Shum, Hong Kong company became famous with the brand Coronet. They are a number of jewelry that enhance the diamonds: Coronet Marquise, for example, is a line which combines stones marquise cut and princess cut: an innovative design that wants to increase the effect of glittering stones. To further increase the hypnotic power of the central diamond stones are surrounded by other small diamonds, which prolong the reflections. Crowns Pendeloque line, as the name indicates, includes jewelry from teardrop shape. Pendants and earrings exalt stones with a cut pear, also in this case surrounded by other smaller diamonds Contour. No wonder that these compositions of white, transparent and sparkling gemstones get the favor of those who does not deviate from tradition, but relies entirely on the freshness of diamonds, a luxury that never sets. Margherita Donato

A diamond’s guitar as necklace

For many women (and men) the guitar is not only a musical instrument, but also a symbol of freedom. Now may also be a jewel, as evidenced by Coronet, a brand landed in the US a couple of years ago from the rib of Aaron Shum Jewellery from Hong Kong. Not to be underestimated: at Baselworld 2015 Coronet became the second Asian brand jewelry hosted in the prestigious Hall 1, after Mikimoto in 1996. The company, which has operations base in California, in VicenzaOro September brought a jewel to Guiness, after a world tour past from Switzerland to China: a Gibson guitar from 2 million dollars with diamonds (400 carats), the work of designer Mark Him. It is the result of 700 days of work of a team of 68 people and is the most expensive guitar in the world. But, next to guitar for musicians Aaron Shum Jewellery proposes other with the size of a pendant to be tied to a necklace. Have the silhouette of an electric guitar, are made of white gold and almost completely covered with small diamonds. They will appeal to those who love rock, but also the luxury.
It should be added another aspect: Coronet uses a special technique for cutting stones creates an impressive bright solitaire with only 30 points of diamond. The setting is patented: the diamond has no central peaks and boasts superior light refraction (says Coronet) to reach an optimal brilliance at about one third of the carat weight and a tenth of the price of a lonely equivalent.
