Haute Jewels Geneva was born on the ashes of the dissolution of Baselworld and in conjunction with the other major event in the Swiss city, Watches and Wonders, dedicated to the world of haute horlogerie, which this year is held from 27 March to 2 April. Haute Jewels Geneva, organized inside the hotel overlooking the lake, is an appointment dedicated to discretion in a soft environment. Although Haute Jewels Geneva has grown since its inception, the organizers note, «one of its main objectives remains to remove the formality from the traditional trade fair experience, offering a relaxed atmosphere for both customers and exhibitors to discover exclusive jewelery designs».

Casato designs Marilyn

/

The Marilyn collection designed by Casato expands with new pieces: white and rose gold, diamonds and enamel ♦ ︎

The name is Marilyn, like the great American actress of the Sixties. But it has a completely different appearance: essential, but with personality. Marilyn is the name of the new line of jewelry signed Casato, Maison in Rome founded in 2004 by Federico Gauttieri. Among the merits of jewelry there is, without doubt, a coherence in style, which embraces a modern vision of jewelry, but without forgetting a rich appeal approach.

The necklaces, bracelets and earrings of the Marilyn line are enriched with marquise-cut brilliants, wrapped in a circle of black enamel. Casato proposes spring bracelets and two variations of both lobe and circle earrings. Among the rings stands out the contrarié: the tubular ends with the two ends crossing in the upper part where we find two shimmers with a teardrop cut always surrounded by a glaze of enamel. The collection has now expanded with the use of pink gold and pink enamel, with oval and marquise cut diamonds. Alessia Mongrando

If Casato colors Boutique

//

The new jewels from the Boutique collection by Casato, with the addition of colored stones ♦

In which case can you buy an entire Boutique without going there? And when can you find Boutique in a boutique? Only on one occasion: with the Boutique collection by Casato. It’s almost an invitation to shopping, but it’s also one of the Maison’s most classic collections. Originally conceived in pink and white gold, with a touch of colorless diamonds, the collection has changed its face with the arrival of autumn. In fact, Casato has decided to focus on color and drip-cut stones. In short, it is always called Boutique but, in fact, the new jewelry line is not the simple continuation of the previous models.

The new jewels, in fact, use stones such as morganite, tanzanite, aquamarine, peridot, pink sapphire. The rings use different or equal stones, in the classic toi et moi shape and have a rose gold stem composed of small joined spheres. The collection also includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

The charm of Madagascar for Casato

//

The new Madagascar collection presented by Casato at VicenzaOro. The protagonists are topazes, amethysts and lemon quartz ♦ ︎

Madagascar is a large island located off the southern coast of Africa. But above all, it is a dream for those who love the sea and nature. It is a country where there are thousands of animal species, such as lemurs, which do not live anywhere else in the world, among rainforests, beaches and coral reefs. Not only: near the capital, Antananarivo, is the fascinating archaeological site of Ambohimanga, a complex of royal palaces and burials that stands on the top of some hills, among secular baobabs. All this to explain how, in the collective imagination, Madagascar is a place full of charm.

Now Madagascar it is also a new jewelery collection, presented at VicenzaOro September by Casato. It is inevitable that the exotic charm of the African country is interpreted through the color of stones such as blue topaz, amethyst and lemon quartz. They are jewels that give great visibility and the security of not going unnoticed. Like in the large necklace composed of topazes that cover all the shades from blue to total transparency. Or the bracelet where the colored stones are dotted with small diamonds.

New diamonds for the Maureen of Casato

/

New pieces in the Maureen collection by Casato: necklaces and earrings with a diamond trail ♦ ︎

New for the Maureen collection by Casato, one of the continuative lines that over time widens its offer. The Milanese Maison had ideally compared this line of jewels to a constellation because of the structure of its pieces, composed of many small diamonds. Now the collection is enriched with light points thanks to the insertion of stones with larger volumes and with a marquise and drop shape.

In the double variant in yellow gold and white gold, the Maureen collection consists of long necklaces, both rigid and semi-rigid, and earrings with double pendant.

Even the rings with the central insertion of these most important stones are embellished. Thanks to the cut, which manages to enhance the quality of the gem itself, glare and reflections of light have increased. A touch of black glaze serves to enhance the contrast and add a touch of modern design. Lavinia Andorno

Casato extends Yasmeen

New entry in Casato’s Yasmeen collection: diamond clusters, pink sapphires and rubellite ♦ ︎

Federico Gauttieri, founder of the Maison Casato, describes himself as a man rich in resources, with particular interest in Renaissance and Baroque art. A predilection that often emerges in the design of the collections of the jewelry company. On the one hand, attention to the contemporary mood, to the trends of luxury. On the other hand, the search for classical elegance, symmetry, innovation in tradition. The Yasmeen collection is part of this philosophy: a woman’s name, Gelsomina in Arabic, but also a flower.

Like clusters of the fragrant flower found in the warmer countries, the jewels of the collection are now also interpreted with clusters of diamonds, pink sapphires and rubellite, seen at VicenzaOro September.

They are pieces on which it is impossible not to stop looking. The collection, which is now a some years old, has just been enriched with two new entries, a ring and a pair of earrings. The pieces are added to those with diamonds, sapphires and tanzanites, or total white diamonds. Pieces that were presented Baselworld long ago and then presented at the Couture in Las Vegas. Casato extends Daphne

/

Casato adds more pieces to his Daphne collection: velvet rings with gold trim and diamonds ♦

Daphne is the name of one of the historic lines of Casato, a Maison of jewelry founded 15 years ago in Rome on the initiative of Federico Gauttieri. The collection includes single and double rings, or the bracelet-ring shape, enriched with tassels. The materials are rose gold in combination with blue topaz, amethyst, prasiolite and smoky quartz. The rings have gems wrapped by the base of gold. Or white gold matched with colored gems. What’s the news? It is easy to say: Casato has added new pieces to the collection. Bracelets, chokers and velvet rings with 18k rose gold trim and white diamonds. Presented at Baselworld 2018, the new additions are now available to the public. The style remained the same: a white gold embroidery, with curves and spirals that seem to come directly from the oriental tales. Diamonds, brilliant cut, are set on the entire metal path. The flower of Casato

Three jewelry by Casato for the Night and Day collection: they are inspired by the frangipane flower ♦ ︎
Those who travel or live in tropical countries (but also in Sicily) are lucky enough to smell the fragrance of the frangipani flowers, a plant classified with the botanical name of plumeria. The flowers with white petals and yellow shades, in addition to being fragrant are particularly pleasant. And it is inspired by this flower that the Roman Maison Casato presented the Night and Day collection, which incorporates the shape of the flower, but with different colors. In short, they are not flowers with five white petals, but rings, earrings and pendants are made in rose gold with amethyst, topaz, rhodolite, as well as white and brown diamonds. A small line of diamonds is also present on the ring’s stem. Frangipani flower aside, the name of the collection suggests a use of both day and evening jewelry. And so for your skin you must choose the fragrance of the frangipane. Giulia Netrese

Casato, Maureen sparkles more

//

Casato renews the Maureen collection with new pieces in white or yellow gold ♦ ︎
Maureen is a name that Casato fans know well. It is a historical collection that from time to time the Roman Maison enriches with new pieces and new ideas. This was also the case at Baselworld 2018, with new jewels made of pink or white gold, always accompanied by diamonds. The style of the collection has remained: embroideries that intertwine in the air, with the alternation of full and empty, in a weave that recalls embroidery. The set seems to be made to evoke a sense of lightness accompanied by an exuberant light that filters through the brilliant cut stones, which give the impression of a sparkling waterfall, and the spaces left free by the precious metal. Ring, earrings and bracelets are also easily wearable thanks to the arrangement of the surfaces and the low weight of the jewels. Lavinia Andorno

Baselworld: win or flop?

Baselworld 2018, number of visitors unchanged. Here’s who is happy and who is puzzled among jewelers ♦ ︎
It depends. The final judgment on Baselworld 2018 can be summarized as follows: it depends. Because the Basel Watch and Jewelery Fair (22-26 March 2018) had two faces. One is the one summarized by two numbers: 1300 and 650. The first is the number of exhibitors, already declining, in 2017 (there were 1500 in 2016). The second is the number of exhibitors in 2018, less than half. A massacre. «A selection», he prefers to call it the managing director of Mch, the company that organizes Baselworld. But, in fact, it depends on the points of view. Faced with such a drastic reduction could have been much worse. The final balance of Baselworld 2018, in the words of the organizers is, if not exciting, at least sufficient. The number of visitors, for example, “has remained stable”. Since the fair lasted two days less, this is considered a success. At the moment we do not know the number of buyers present. 4,400 journalists came to Baselworld, 15% less from Europe, but 5% more from Asia. And if many big brands, such as Festina or Dior, this year have defected the Basel fair, Breitling, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Swatch, Chanel and Gucci have already announced that they will also be present next year, from 21 to 26 March 2019 .
And exhibitors? The opinions are different. Again, it depends. Among the opinions collected by gioiellis.com among jewelers, prevails a lack of enthusiasm for the new formula “concentrated”, which for some is “sad” when compared to the atmosphere that was breathed until a couple of years ago. But at the same time, many have confirmed that commercial activity has not been lacking and, therefore, the presence in Basel still has a reason for being. From the comments collected during the fair, we can summarize the mood:
We are equally satisfied: Fope, Pasquale Bruni, Nanis, Alessio Boschi, Tamara Comolli, Picchiotti, Messika, Mattioli, Rivière
Everything is OK, but some perplexities: Casato, Annamaria Cammilli, Leo Pizzo, Yoko London, Giovanni Ferraris, Djoula, Facet, Crivelli
No comment: Coronet, Sutra, Butani

Baselworld 2018, selection and news

Baselworld 2018 starts with the selection. But news jewelry are not lacking ♦ ︎
“The world is changing fast. Faced with this challenge, there are only two alternatives: to grow larger or to concentrate. We have chosen to concentrate”. The words of Sylvie Ritter, managing director of Baselworld, have opened the new edition, the number 101, of the great fair dedicated to luxury watches and jewelery. Indeed, more and more luxury, because if Baselworld 2017 counted 135,000 total visitors, down from 145,000 in 2016, in November the Mch group, which organizes the fair, announced that it would have halved the list of exhibitors and reduced the duration of the event, two day less, in response to the difficult phase recorded by the Swiss watchmaking players (the export of Swiss watches, however, after two years of crisis started to rise again at + 12.6% in the first few months of 2018). Baselworld also reduced the rental fee for the stands by 10%.
The result is that in Basel there are about 700 exhibitors, almost halved compared to 1,300 in 2017, when they had already fallen by 200 compared to 2016, but still the past year attracted 106 thousand buyers and 4,400 journalists (including those of gioiellis.com). And yet, if there are no more brands like Movado or Eberhard in watchmaking, there are always leading names like Rolex, Patek Philippe, the Swatch group with its many brands, some of which, like Omega. There is also the Lvmh group with Maison like Bulgari and Tag Heuer. And there are many top brands of jewelry, from fashion like Swarovski, or haute joaillerie with Graff, de Grisogono or Harry Winston, up to small Maison but with great creativity like Alessio Boschi, and the classic brands of Italian jewelry, Nanis, Giovanni Ferraris , Annamaria Cammilli, Picchiotti, Fope, Leo Pizzo, Casato, just to name a few. In short, Baselworld has lost weight, but still retains a lot of charm: the 101 years brings them well. We will tell the news in the next few days.

Casato, diamonds for parties

Jewelry for elegant evenings: Maureen collection by Casato, white gold and diamonds ♦ ︎
For elegant evenings, especially those linked to special moments such as festivals, gigs, anniversaries, Christmas, social events as concerts or Christmas parties, nothing is better than a jewel of diamonds. Better if it’s light (not to fatigue), better if sparkling (to shine under the lights), better if beautiful with balance (to avoid being bling bling). To meet these limits or, better, good taste, you must be sure of yourself, but also be able to choose the right jewel. An example of these qualities combined in one collection is Maureen of Casato. Diamonds, but lightweight, for bracelets and necklaces to show off with evening dresses, or a choker, more sober. The collection includes earrings and ring, always with small stones mounted on white gold. The diamonds, brilliant cut, are held by small griffes and form like a lawn prone with flowers. Will be a sure success for the soiré. Margherita Andorno

Weaving with Casato

Casato presents three new rings from the Hold me Tight collection ♦ ︎
Hold me Tight, interweaving of passion: a name, a premise and, at the same time, a premise. In short, Casato’s collection, eminent Roman Maison, is all about emotion. The interlacing of circles bound in each other, in the Hold me Tight collection, has the dual aesthetic, but also symbolic function. And it sends a thrill to those who receive the jewel made in gold, diamonds or emeralds (and perhaps even to who put their hand on the wallet). In any case, the collection is one of those intended to last in time. In fact, Casato renews it. In VicenzaOro September, for example, the Roman brand has presented three new variants that are added to the jewels already present in the collection. These are three rings, always with the chain pattern: one is in pink gold 18 karat and emerald, another in white gold and white diamonds, the third in pink gold and white diamonds. The three rings are added to earrings, bracelets and necklaces that make up the collection. Giulia Netrese

Casato in pink and white

Casato’s vie en rose is with white diamonds ♦ ︎
The Vie en rose is a French song known worldwide, written, interpreted and brought to success by Édith Piaf. But it is also a desire, which is intimately linked to a love story. The synthesis is in this collection of jewels signed by Casato, the Roman Maison who proposed the suite of these pieces even during the last edition of Baselworld. It is a collection of jewels made up of a kind of embroidery in the form of leaves or flowers, with the geometric motif of an oval with pointed ends, like an eye, which recurs. It is used, for example, to dial large chandelier earrings. For the collection, gold is used in the three classic yellow, white and pink colors, along with white diamonds with brilliant cut. It is worth noting, in particular, the large white gold necklace with white diamonds, which has a larger stone center: it’s consisting of a hundred elements covered by a diamond paved. Life can be pink, but even with white diamonds is not bad. Alessia Mongrando

A Venus for Casato

Casato enriches its Venus collection with new jewels and three colored stones ♦
Discovered for those who do not know it, rediscovered for those who had missed it: Venus rises from the waters of the jewelery on the wave driven by Casato. The Roman Maison has decided to enrich one of its most successful collections, Venus, with rings, earrings and gold and enamel pendants in five different colors, with shades bright. Now the jewels of the collection proposed by Casato include amethyst, blue topaz and citrine. The stones are cut in the shape of a heart or pillow. The style is quite rich, almost baroque: you can imagine jewels in the background of the sixteenth-century palaces of Bernini’s Rome.
But, perhaps, the most innovative aspect is the ability to customize jewels by adding the name of the name to the enamel. A chance probably appreciated by those who want to make (or do herself) a gift. Giulia Netrese

You do not forget to Casato

The Roman Maison Casato is so stingy in communicating his creations, as prodigal in achieving high-class collections. The last two, landed in Baselwolrd, were called Forget Me Not and Back to Origin. A closer look from a semantic point of view the two ideas seem related: you could summarize in a “do not forget the origin’. And in fact, the Casato menu is always with the same precious ingredients: a careful selection of combinations of metal and precious stones, jewels with aligned in a classical fashion. Although, with forget me not, in the poor images that we found on an Asian site geometries are more hefty, almost with references to the ancient shields of imperial Rome. Again the memories emerge. But probably (ah, knowing it) is not the intent of the brand. With safety, instead, one can identify the stones used for the collections. Besides white and colored diamonds, there are amethyst, blue topaz, peridot, rodolite, white opal, emerald and rubies. Among the new entries there are also new pieces into the older collections, such as Boutique and Aquarius, with white and pink gold in small metal beads, with the outline of diamonds. An ever appetizing menu. Lavinia Andorno

(Italiano) Casato loves New York

It is a cascade of diamonds the one that Casato chooses for his new collection New York-New York, inspired by the Manhattan skyline. Its sinuous lines lie on hands, fingers and décolleté, and remind of the city landmark skyscraper, for years the world’s tallest building: strands of stones of different lengths, set on white gold, outline the Empire State Building’s flagpole and terrace upside down. From brilliant flashes of diamonds to the sheen of sapphires, emeralds and rubies: Noor, which in Persian means light, is the collection of colors. Gems set in pink gold featuring volumetric feathers and leaves with a a sense of lightness, due to the contrast between blue, green and red stones with black metal bezels and with white diamonds on the extremity. Here pictures of jewelry and showcases at VicenzaOro.

On the wings of Casato

Casato continues to focus on white, with colorless diamonds and champagne set on white and rose gold, and on the butterfly subject, which in the new Free me collection evolves and transform itself. Long wings, the sign of the metamorphosis carried out, designed to lie slightly on the body and be really wearable with its soft shapes, that adds depth to the jewel. Everything is studied down to the last detail. For example, diamonds are on the stalk of the ring and or on the back of the butterflies necklace to not lose any precious detail if they twist. Even the Hold Me Tight collection is played on volumes, stretch mesh, and contrasts of white gold rhodium and white diamonds for a modern classic. Contemporary is the word for Rio, horizontal double or triple ring with amethyst, prasiolite and smoky quartz. M.d.B.
