Avakian was founded in 1969 by Edmond Avakian. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, he moved to Lebanon in 1958. In 1985 he emigrated to Switzerland. In addition to the Gemologic Institute America degree in Los Angeles, Edmond Avakian also graduated in Engineering from MIT, Boston.
