In the north of Portugal there is a special gold, which shows the delicate processing of a tradition born under the influence of the winds of the Atlantic Ocean. The result is the jewels of Luisa Rosas, of which we have already spoken. In Vicenzaoro January, the Portuguese designer presented new ideas, which translate into the Be collection. The surprising aspect of the Be collection is that it is inspired by something new. No moons, hearts, flowers: jewels are made with the thought turned to the cellular structure that is the basis of life. The cells of plants and animals (obviously also those of human beings) are organized to create new living subjects. And from this concept the collection has developed.

The jewels are composed of single, small elements, just like the cells that bind to each other to form the natural world.

The result is a kind of puzzle that turns into bracelets, rings or necklaces. 18-karat yellow or white gold alternates with paved surfaces with small diamonds, with an irregular rhythm. Just like it happens in nature. Other collections, on the other hand, are Skin and Tribe, both created starting from many small elements of gold aggregated to form volumes, clusters or fringes.

Where Yeprem dares

Dare to be Yeprem. The idea of the Lebanese Maison specializing in dizzying diamond jewelry pays tribute to female emancipation with the intention of satisfying pride and shedding light on the women they choose to inspire and empower. This, at least, is the starting point. The arrival one is made up of a series of jewels with unpredictable paths, as if to symbolize the tortuous path that a woman must take to reach the destination.

Whether they are symbols or not, the series of high jewelry called Dare to be Yeprem includes a series of rings-bracelets that follow the shape of the hand, adapting to the volume of the wrist and fingers. They are like diamond tendrils that envelop the body and sparkle with an unprecedented effect, impossible to ignore. The line is completed by Claw (we have already talked about it here): an unprecedented (and a little aggressive) jewel that is worn on the palm of the hand and is admired on the back.

Claiming that covid also had positive aspects is certainly wrong. But, in a certain sense, it has forced many people to have more free time, perhaps thanks to smart working. Or the birth of two twins. And this is what happened to a young girl from the Marche, who has worked for years in the fashion industry, and who has decided to bring out her passion for jewelry. The result is Blenda, a jewelry brand founded in spring 2021 in Rome by Cristina Tricarico.

I have always had a great passion for jewels, but having a very multifaceted soul I have always struggled to find my style and my way of perceiving elegance combined with everyday life and so, after starting to make them for myself, I felt the need to create my first selection of jewels, designed to reflect my personality and that of those who, like me, were looking for something truly unique, in a real jewelery tailor shop.

Another detail must be added: the name Blenda, perhaps few people know, is commonly the one referring to sphalerite, the mineral from which zinc is extracted. The name blenda derives from the German blenden, to deceive, due to its appearance which is confused with galena. The name of sphalerite derives from the Greek sphaleros, misleading.
That said, nothing of the new Blenda collections is misleading. The founder, who follows one-girl-show all the phases from design to realization, prefers the creation of unique pieces. Small diamonds and precious stones such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires and semiprecious stones such as tourmaline and aquamarine are set on rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, the result of continuous research by the brand on the best Italian and international markets, and mounted on certified 18 carat gold. . In short, serious stuff.

Questions answered by the Icon line by Nanis, a brand founded, directed and playfully nurtured by Laura Bicego. It is not the first time that the Venetian Maison proposes the theme of the chain which, in fact, is among those archetypes of jewelry that cannot be ignored. But in the Icon collection, which follows another line that has the chain as its protagonist, that is, the Libera line, jewelry takes on a different expression.

Sensual, Nanis defines it, and that’s not the wrong adjective. But the chain is also a tribute to the historical legacy of the company and its first collections in the nineties. The motif of the chain, considered rigid and static in the common imagination, has been completely rethought through a more impressive link which, at the same time, is rounded in its lines, giving life to sinuous, sweet and daring jewels. Bjorg, a brand born from the fantasy of Bjørg Nordli-Mathisen took its first steps in India in 2004. The explanation is there: the word Hulchi derives from the foundress’s surname (Hul) to which is added (chi), which is a reference to Eastern philosophy. If there is one thing that Fawaz Gruosi does not lack, it is fantasy. In his new Maison, created in his image and likeness, the jeweler unleashes his proven experience, together with the usual gift of creativity. The Fantasy line was born on this basis, a collection inspired by the eternal shape of the chain. It takes imagination, in fact, to propose chains that are different from those commonly found on the market, but also from those that offer other brands devoted to design. Mission accomplished.

Two sautoirs feature flat, elongated and organically shaped oval rings in pink, gold and ivory ceramic, or white, gold and black ceramic. For some models, diamonds are added, with smaller tonneau-shaped links, that is, more rounded. The gems are arranged in an apparently random way, but in reality with a perfect balance. The jewelry clasp was specially developed in Fawaz Gruosi’s atelier in Geneva so that it can be seamlessly integrated into the design.

The collection also includes bracelets, with the same style and the same materials: they are available in pink gold and ivory ceramic, or in white gold and black ceramic, with each link made unique by the original par hazard diamond setting. Fantasy earrings are composed of a sequence of rings in pink or white gold joined by small tonneau-shaped links, ending with a drop of ivory or black ceramic. Each earring is individually signed with a letter F on the back, which also indicates that the earring must be worn on the right lobe, while the letter G indicates the left. Finally, there is no shortage of rings in the Fantasy collection. In this case the chain has rounded links to follow the shape of the finger and adapt better.

Often it is the smallest jewels that pose the greatest challenges, and this ring is one example. It is not easy to mix ceramic and gold, but once again my skilled goldsmiths have given body to my Fantasy.

Francesca Cassani is a designer who works in Switzerland, in Chiasso, a city in the Canton of Ticino which is located on the border with Italy. Graduated from the Iulm University of Milan in Management and communication in the art markets, Francesca Cassani started working for the Butterfly Fine Arts gallery in Paradiso (Switzerland). In short, as she explains in her biographical note, the art world is her first great love. The second love, however, is gold, given that the designer has a close connection with TiMetals, a Swiss company that trades with yellow metal (and with which the jewelry brand shares the address).

In short, art and gold: the Francesca Cassani Fine Jewelry brand was born from these two parallel experiences. Of course the jewels are in gold, white, pink or yellow, 18 carats. Photographers define blue hours as those moments that precede nightfall and which offer a somewhat mysterious atmosphere. With greater romanticism, the Italian Maison Vhernier called Coucher du Soleil (sunset) its first collection to experiment with the use of bronze. The homage to the blue hour is, of course, also (but not limited to) marked by the color to which the collection refers. Coucher du soleil is characterized by the use of classic and uncommon materials. In addition, the jewelry is modular, composed of thin vertical elements in bronze dyed blue, thanks to a special process, and gold.

To the two combined metals is added, in some versions, the glow of diamonds, set in an order that seems random, but is not, as it is in the style of the Piedmontese Maison. The collection includes bracelets and band rings, sculpture earrings, even with generous volumes. The collection, in addition to the blue tone, also includes jewels with golden shades, always made with the same materials, but with diamonds in a brown version.

Chores of K di Kuore: the jewels, basically, are evidence of the passion and affection of a person to the other. But this should not overshadow the beauty of the jewel. With this philosophy, 20 years ago he was born the Florentine K di Kuore, at the initiative of Giuliano Giannini. Objective: creating trendy jewelry. And immediately recognizable: Goal accomplished.

All products are handmade and, above all, have a design that can be recognized. The production process is an aspect to which Giannini holds much. On the other hand, he points out, the K di Kuore jewels could not be done in another way: there are no machines capable, for example, to roll the threads in pink gold and white to Kult line, with jewels inspired by art movement of Futurism. Or to work stones like amethyst, ruby and topaz, on dubbed mother pearl on rings of Color collection. Now K di Kuore jewelry are sold and appreciated around the world.
