The swan is a bird that has always been associated with a concept of beauty, elegance and femininity. Concepts reinforced by a fairy tale and a famous classical ballet, Swan Lake. It is not strange, therefore, that even in the world of jewelry this bird is turned into collections to wear. And that’s what Swarovski thought, which presented a collection that celebrates the swan, but in a modern way. Among other things, the swan appears since 1989 in the Swarovski logo. In short, an icon that increases its recognizability.
Swarovski therefore reinterprets the sign of the swan in the collection consisting of earrings, pendants and bracelets. The Facet Swan jewelry line incorporates the swan silhouette and a filigree motif that recalls the facet of the crystal. Spring returns and Lebole Gioielli returns to Japanese inspiration. The kimono silks, but also the taste for a meaningful simplicity, are the leitmotif of the Tuscan bijoux brand, especially for the earrings. And among the new proposals for spring 2018 here is the Anemone collection, designed and created for Lebole Gioielli by the Tuscan artist Paolo Perugini, a lover of Japanese art and long time collaborator of the small Maison. The Anemone earrings collection consists of an asymmetrical pair, in two sizes. The earrings use two different geometric figures as a base, on which the ideogram representing the word Anemone in the rectangle and Fiore in the triangle is etched. Not only: as in many collections of Lebole, the jewels are covered with ancient Japanese silks, spread over a very thin leather. In addition, a thin brass triangle attached to the free top is inserted into the earring. The triangle then moves freely along with the earring. The metal is brass galvanized gold, while the colored natural stones are combined with the fabrics used. Price: 120 euros.

Snakes change skin, Giulia Barela uses it. Skin is the name of collection of the Roman designer who decided to enter the sinuous world of reptiles, a theme faced since the jewelry exists. The snakes, in short, are not just jewels with a wavy line, or that are rolled up on the wrist. The snake skin (without the snake) becomes instead a decoration motif, of a weft that marks the metal. In this case it is silver, gold-plated bronze or black rhodium-plated silver. Three colors, white, yellow and black, which are chosen for large bracelets, rings and earrings. If, instead, you want others serpent rings, you can opt for the Play collection, which uses the classic shape of the animal that has seduced Eve in its traditional image, that is with the whole body that turns into a jewel. At VicenzaOro January Fernando Jorge was one of the 12 protagonists of the Design Room. And with good reason, considering that the Brazilian designer based in London is considered one of the most innovative authors of the new jewelry. Although in some cases, as in the Bloom collection, Fernando Jorge has used so many color stones, an aspect that is usually associated with creativity and Brazilian character, Jorge actually prefers more the simple flow of lines. In short, it does not resort to daring combinations, to large and showy stones which alone resolve an entire jewel and, sometimes, hide its defects. Designing a beautiful bracelet, ring, earring, necklace with the simple stroke of a pencil and gold is more difficult. But, as the Parallel collection demonstrates, the sculptural aspect can be favored with the same effect: volumes, curves, lines prevail, even if some stone here and there adds that touch that embellishes the jewel. And this is the case of the Classique Parisienne collection designed by Roberto Coin. The designer defines it with three adjectives: minimal, refined and magnetic. On closer inspection there is no easier collection than this: a golden thread rounded in a circle rectified by a horizontal line, accompanied by details such as the junction made with diamonds. Stop. But in reality the geometric formula, with some variations and with the variations offered by the three different colors of gold, is able to multiply the combinations of the collection, which includes necklaces with pendants, earrings and a bracelet. The year that distinguishes the different lines, therefore, not only traces the inspiration, but refers to events of the past particularly significant. For the 2017 collection, however, it is somehow an exception. The date, in fact, is a reference to the same Maison, returned to the limelight a few years ago after a period of tarnishing. Alfieri & St.John, born in 1977, has completed its first 40 years. And, like any self-respecting birthday, he celebrated in the way that is most congenial to him. The collection differs a little from the aggressive and futuristic forms of the famous crucifix pendant, which has become a symbol of the house. Rings, bracelets and earrings are made of white gold or rose gold with stones such as topaz, amethysts, smoky quartz, navette cut or cabochon, and diamonds. In addition to the jewelry that has colored gems as protagonists, Brumani has a particular sensitivity for what happens in Brazil, for its history, costume, fashion. This is precisely why the Maison of San Paolo has created a collection entrusted to the creativity of Brazilian fashion designer Lethicia Bronstein, the her first collection of jewelry. The collection is called Laces and plays whit on gold and stones made using the lightness of lace. The collection includes rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets in three different versions: rose gold with diamonds and champagne, white gold with diamonds and sapphire blue and white gold with diamonds and pearls.
Grandchildren of Italian and German immigrants arrived in Brazil in the mid-twentieth century, brothers Brüner, Eduardo, Emerson and Rodrigo Brüner, have inherited the family tradition of jewelry, which lasts half a century. Let’s say things like they are: the word bijoux is too often synonymous with “I would like but I can not”. Imitation of gold, imitations of stones, imitations of famous brands. But it is also true that bijoix is also a free space, without limitations, without frontiers, without fences. And it is in this prairie without boundaries that creativity can run. One of the designers involved in this marathon of freedom is Lora Nikolova, a young creative born in Bulgaria and Milanese by adoption.

Lora Nikolova describes her work as “wearable artwork”. And it is not important the material with which his jewels are made, just as it is not interesting to know the brand of oil paints of a painter. In its collections for spring summer 2018, in fact, the designer takes up patterns and geometries that are inspired by the golden moment of abstractionism, but also to pop art, as in the case of the necklace with chilies, wagglers or fish. There is also flowers and, adds Lora, “abstract motifs within a monochromatic composition”.

Two new pieces of high jewelery made by Sicis with the technique of micromosaic, combined with diamonds and rubies, the Arabesque parure ♦ ︎
The micromosaic becomes a jewel: it is one of the Sicis skills, a company from Ravenna specialized in the art of combining tiny colored pieces. And it is no coincidence that this skill is developed in a city that houses some of the most beautiful and important mosaics in the world. Given this, here is the new effort of Sicis: the Arabesque set. It is a pair of earrings and a ring, which whit the micromosaic design have an oriental echo. The micromosaic, supported by a set of white gold, is also embellished with lines of white diamonds and a red rubies. The same composition is repeated for ring and hanging earrings, which use rubies at the height of the closure. In this case the geometric drop shape is made with diamonds, which is superimposed on the jewel: it’s a movable set and therefore oscillates according to the movements of the wearer’s body. The sphere is a volume defined as a geometric solid generated by the rotation of a semicircle around its diameter. But this cold definition hides a whole world of symbologies: the sphere resting on the hands of kings and emperors, indicating their power over the world, a symbol of perfection. But also a tool to play, to decorate a Christmas tree and, as all jewelry lovers know, also a perfect volume used for rings, necklaces or bracelets. Now the spheres used by jewelers are joined by the Boules collection by Vendorafa Lombardi, a company active in Valenza since 1951 and specialized in manual processing such as hammering, engraving and embossing. The Boules collection, in fact, is made with hammered gold balls, which recall the effect of blown glass bubbles. To these gold spheres are added details with pavé diamonds, or sapphires, black diamonds and emeralds. The collection consists of bracelets, choker, earrings and rings. Giulia Netrese

If in spring nature re-blossoms, which plant is more symbolic of the rose? And which flower is more romantic than a wild rose? Last question: what is the flower that the English are most fond of? The answer is always the same: the rose is the flower that is best matched to the new season. With (perhaps) these considerations in mind, Giovanni Raspini (who recently opened a shop in London) still elaborates his version of silver jewelry, but with the addition of careful processing and, sometimes, of stones. The Wild Rose collection, for example, uses burnished silver and pink opal: a fully successful contrast. The natural stone is used with a cabochon cut in two dimensions and is well suited to the floral theme of the collection, which includes two different necklaces, bracelets, two types of earrings and a ring. For Valentine’s Day silver acquires new shades and is declined in pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, as well as a necklace of ups and downs, always in silver, decorated with studs.
