Marco Bicego to Masai

The Masai collection designed by Marco Bicego, white gold or yellow slight spirals with diamonds.

The Masai were a nomadic people active in the highlands around the border between Kenya and Tanzania. We write “were”, with the verb in the past, because now they have also become a collection of Marco Bicego. Everything stems from the fact that in addition to being cattle farmers and, in small part, farmers, the Masai are considered warriors. And when they not go around with their cows, they forge metal rings that they then use as necklaces or bracelets, one over the others. And it was precisely this inspiration the Venetian jeweler, who built the whole collection Masai around the elaboration of the spiral technique, hallmark of the brand. Obviously the measures and forms are not those of ethnic jewelry of the African population, but lightweight pieces with the shape of the spiral trasformed in yellow or white gold, with the addition of pavé diamond-shaped pillow that breaks the surface of the metal. Probably, however, this jewels would been loved also by Masai. Giulia Netrese

The moon view by Bicego

The satellite of the Earth continues to inspire Marco Bicego: Lunaria Lapis is the latest variation of Lunaria, classic collection of the Venetian designer (as we anticipated here). Lapis is going to lapis lazuli, the heavenly stone used along with gold to make the colors of the stars and, in particular, of the Moon. After presenting at VicenzaOro and Baselworld the anticipation of its novelties, the collection is now completely visible: we have brought together the images so as to provide a comparable level of some pieces, such as earrings and necklaces. They have irregular contours but soft, like small islands (or lunar holes), are composed by variously faceted stone and brushed gold surfaces. Around 15 lunar pieces to wear on Earth. Bicego goes to Masai

The Masai are a people living between Tanzania and Kenya. Shepherds, but also warriors, are famous for the colorful beaded jewelry they wear. The new collection of Marco Bicego beside Lunaria Lapis (https://gioiellis.com/bicego-blue-moon), presented at Baselworld 2016 is inspired by Masai, it acquires the name, but they don’t surrendered to the rainbow of colors of African ethnic aesthetics and instead opts for a more understated 18-carat gold, white or yellow, interspersed with a paved square where they reside nine diamonds. The bracelets are soft, made with the technique of the serpentine, perhaps to make them more easily wearable. The Masai collection will be available in stores in May. Lavinia Andorno

Bicego blue moon

Marco Bicego lands at Baselworld 2016 with a novelty: Lunaria Lapis. Lunaria is one of the most famous collections by the Veneto brand. And, since the jewelry line is inspired by the stars, here is a version with the blue color of the sky. To give the key of the vault of heaven in the evening is the lapis, which is considered the stone of the stars. This stone has a long history: it is found in the tombs of the Pharaohs to accompany their eternal sleep, to Babylon gracing the profiles of Ishtar, the divine door, but it was been also used by the painters of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to paint the sky.

A deep blue and crossed the golden veins of pyrite, embodies all the power and mystery of a starry night. The lapis lazuli (full name) in Buddhism is also considered one of the seven treasures and equated with self-consciousness. It consists predominantly of intense blue color (but also exist color samples closer to blue, depending on the amount of calcite). In this case it is accompanied with gold and replaces the previous version of the line, which used the aquamarine.

Bicego, colors in Paradise

Marco Bicego, Vicenza’s brand with ascendant in the US and Britain, renews the historic Paradise collection. The jewelry line, very colorful, but discreetly, includes 18K gold bracelets, necklaces and, above all, a kaleidoscope of precious gems that give color and three-dimensionality to jewelry. The cut and the size of the stones is not uneven: the different weight of the gems gives movement to the jewelry, almost a perspective effect as seen in the paintings of the Renaissance. The jewels are not aggressive colors. The choice is to aim, rather, pastel tones, suitable for spring: a rain of nuance that can attract attention, but without arouse. Giulia Netrese

In the beginning were the golden petals, irregular shapes chiseled by hand, then the combination with the multi-faceted aquamarine to get a play of contrasts between the gleam of 18 carat gold and the freshness of the hard stone. All this in new dimensions, larger petals and long necklaces up to one meter for luxury soutoir. Giulia Netrese
