Now, instead, Emmanuel Tarpin can no longer be referred to as an emerging designer. To Tarpin, de Grisogono commissioned a collection as Artist in Resident: a choice strongly desired by the new CEO, Céline Assimon. The result is called Prologue and is the first of three collections to be signed by Emmanuel Tarpin. The designer used a palette with two colors: black and white. Indeed, black diamonds have been widely used by de Grisogono. The shape of the jewels is sinuous and surprising: the designer does not disappoint the fame he has gained.

The collection includes long asymmetric earrings of white and black diamonds in the form of a twisted ribbon, with a spiral that gives the illusion of crossing the lobe. And even the bracelet and necklace have the soft appearance of a fabric that bends with soft curves. They are pieces of bold design, but at the same time reassuring. And that, for sure, are unmistakable. Innovative jewels, yet in harmony with the de Grisogono style.

Emmanuel Tarpin, who debuted on the international scene at GemGèneve, launched his first capsule collection two years ago and, in December 2017, his realistic Geranium Leaf aluminum earrings were sold by Christie’s. He then received the Rising Star award from the Fashion Group International and was named Designer of the Year at the Town and Country Jewelry Awards. And he’s only at the beginning.

For example, with the Créoles M Rainbow earrings, made on 18-carat pink gold, with 16 colored diamonds of different cuts and colors, for a total of 6.018 carats, set on the edge of each earring. The collection also includes a Toi & Moi necklace with a pear-cut diamond on one side and an emerald-cut diamond on the other, as you can see from the preparation sketch. Messika has also added a Toi & Moi ring with two exceptional pear diamonds. They are jewels that are a real temptation. Like the Temptation necklace, with a magnificent intense radiant cut diamond in pink, balanced in the hollow of the choker in rose gold and white diamonds. Exceptional diamonds and jewels transported to the wild West: it’s the Born to Be Wild collection by Messika ♦

So far, Born to Be Wild has been the title of a historical song by Steppenwolf, also well known for being part of the soundtrack of the movie Easy Rider. But from now on, however, Born to Be Wild will also be associated with fine jewelry. And, with an unusual link, a high jewelery sported in the American Wild West.

The queen of diamonds, Messika, has decided to call in this way her impressive collection, presented at Baselworld 2019 in a themed installation.

So much so that a photo shoot sets the exceptional collection in the spaces usually reserved (in the movies) for incursions of native Indians, galloping cowboys, runaway bandits and so on. The collection is very wide and includes different lines, such as Snake Dance, Black Hawk, Diamond Catcher, Shaman Shield, Sun Tribe, Wild Moon.

Curiously, it seems that these super jewels are at ease in the midst of natural spaces, strong colors and wild nature. It is a similar, but opposite, contrast to what one feels when an element of nature, for example a ferocious animal, is transported to a civilized environment.

I like to travel, I wanted to instill a state of mind that alludes to feeling of escape.
