Katie Holmes reappears for H.Stern

The Brazilian Maison of jewelry shows photo shoot of 2012 with the American actress Katie Holmes.
A few weeks ago, Roberto Stern was in London to inaugurate a boutique of the House that bears his name. Surprisingly, for the occasion, the president of the Brazilian brand has revived the photos taken in 2012 on the beach near New York starring Katie Holmes, wearing only a bikini and, of course, the H.Stern jewels. This means, it is the message, that these jewels are not related to current trends, but accompanied by a woman for many years. In fact this is the philosophy of the brand, which boasts what the Brazilians call ginga, ie a special touch.
The company was founded in 1940 by Hans Stern, a German jew escaped with his family from Nazi Germany. In Rio de Janeiro Hans Stern started to deal with semi-precious stones, which abound in Brazil. Then he turned to jewelry. H.Stern now has 280 stores in 32 countries. The son, Roberto Stern, in the eighties has modernized the image of the House, with a more alive design, together with his brother Ronaldo, vice president.
Among the specialties of the house, though, there are not only stones, but also gold. H.Stern, after 180 tests, has identified a top secret alloy, called Noble Gold, which is a very light yellow, yellow to white. In all these years there have been many collections that convinced jewelry lovers and stars such as Catherine Deneuve, Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sharon Stone Jennifer Lopez Lily Collins. Some collections also are entrusted to external designers, as in the case of DVF Diane von Furstenberg. But there is one line that probably the House loves more: it is Stars, who represents the family name. Stern in German means, precisely, star. Giulia Netrese

A super necklace for ten

A historical necklace by a historical designer returns to live. In Brazil.
Story of an exceptional necklace that comes back to life. It is a story that is worth reading. First, because to draw it, and then wear it, it was Lina Bo Bardi (Rome, 1914 – São Paulo, 1992). She was an Italian architect, naturalized Brazilian, active in the modernist movement. For architecture and design enthusiasts, we remember that she began her career in the studio of Gio Ponti, in Milan. At the end of the war, after the 1943 bombing had destroyed the study who had opened on her own, with her husband Pietro Maria Bardi she moved to Brazil. She has become a great architect (with her famous Glass House, in the new district of Morumbi in Sao Paulo). In addition to designing modern buildings, the designer was the author of this spectacular necklace: 62 large aquamarines, gift of powerful Brazilian entrepreneur Assis Chateaubriand. Lina Bo Bardi designed the jewel, in which the stones seem to float on a gold set.
But in 1986 the necklace was stolen from the Glass house together with other 42 other jewels by four robbers: they threw away aquamarines to just sell the golden joint. “It was a cultural crime. For the first time, I felt anger for Brazil, “said Lina then.
Now, three decades later, the piece is reproduced in a limited edition by the Brazilian Talento Joias. The series includes ten numbered necklaces. In addition to the version with aquamarines, there will also be those with prasiolite, amethyst and blue topaz. The different versions will be on display in traveling exhibitions in Brazil. In Brazil discovered a new stone

In the jewelry world breaks a new stone that, immediately, was used in a necklace with pendant: is the metratonita. Don’t you never heard of it? It has been detected in Brazil, and used by designer Celso Dornelles to make a necklace with a pendant, “Dewdrop”. The stone was used together with white gold and sapphires. It is green in color and was discovered two years ago by Eduardo Loureiro, owner of a mine in the area of Rio Grande do Sul. Celso Dornelles is a lover of Brazilian stones and has already exhibited her jewels at the Louvre in Paris and the Expo ’98 in Lisbon. According to geologists, the stone is similar to clinochlore, but is of a different type. The name Metratonita comes from Metatron, considered Angel Supreme, Prince of the Seraphim. The Brazilian designer also has an Italian past: it has made a training at the State Mint. And in Rome he held a seminar on the creation of jewels, teaching the restoration of old pieces of jewelry. He then returned to Porto Alegre in 1995, where he founded and coordinates the Apdesign Jewelry Design Center. Rudy Serra
