New jewels in Roberto Coin’s Haute Couture collection. With a special cut ♦
Among its hundreds of lives and countless collections, the volcanic designer named Roberto Coin, one of the most colorful line of jewelry and loveliest is the Haute Couture. Cocktail rings and butterfly shaped brooches are made of precious stones and colors stones, from diamonds to tourmaline, from peridot to sapphire.

At Baseleworld 2017 also are showed new necklaces and rings, which have been inserted in the same collection. We talk about a necklace in white gold with pearls and blue sapphires with Cento cut, and of a similar necklace but with pink pearls and sapphires and coordinated rings. Let’s add that Cento cut is another of Roberto Coin’s ideas, which initially applied to diamonds. It is a cut that is obtained by dividing the stone into nine different sections from which to start and scrap the 100 facets that take the place of the traditionals 57-58. Dominic Jones won five times the award as a Jewelery designer of the year, also appreciated by Anna Wintour. In 2009, therefore, she decided to gain recognition and gave birth to her brand in London. Like every successful designer, she has labeled in her block-notes the names of the stars of the show who wore her jewels, as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Florence Welch, while her jewels are distributed by Net-a-porter, Liberty, Joseph and Harvey Nichols in London, and Corso Como 10 (in Milan) in Italy. But that’s not enough.
In the fall, Dominic Jones became creative director of the London Mansion Astley Clarke. A few months later, here is the fruit of collaboration: the Astronomy collection. It’s a tour in the space or, better than the solar system, through earrings, rings and necklaces. Jewels with unquestionable creativity, at prices ranging between 450 and 5,300 euros. The blue note is a very special note that you find found in jazz and blues. From this musical singularity it has been named a famous club in New York City, where you can play or heard jazz. Finally, the reputation of Blue Note also came to Italy with the opening of a similar music-restaurant in Milan. But not only: in Florence, the silver specialist Giovanni Raspini has devised a collection called Blue Note. But it is different from the classic productions signed by Raspini.
In this case, in fact, Blue Note is in golden silver. On the metal there are also plaque inserts of lapis lazuli, with bronze scales. In the shape of a disc, or in the cabochon cuts, the blue and bronze are blended with the golden reflections of the castone. The legends have always inspired the artists. Not surprisingly, they also inspire designers and jewelers, especially if the legends are ancient, fascinating, exotic. Like that chosen by Carrera y Carrera for the Circulos de Fuego collection.
Here is the story from which it originated: once upon a time, there is a dragon called Orochie that lived on a hidden island in southern China. Throughout the realm it was known for turning every stone into the most precious metal with the flame coming out of its mouth. The legend states that the Emperor’s greatest desire was to get the Dragon’s Fire and thus possess the greatest treasure of the world. One morning, the Emperor decided to send his daughter, the most beautiful princess in the whole kingdom, to speak with Orochie. Princess Feng was so beautiful that Orochie fell in love with her and kissed her to gift her the fire. No one knew, however, that giving up his fire meant the death of the dragon. And so, she was so sad that decided not to marry and to always protect the fire of the Dragon with his own life.
From this romantic and sad story, the great Spanish Maison has embarked on a series of luscious jewels in white and yellow gold, plus a number of precious stones. These jewels will undoubtedly like in the Orient, but they also have a certain charm for Western women as well. Giulia Netrese

As we mentioned before (read here), Tiffany launched a new jewelery collection, Tiffany City HardWear. The official idea is to represent New York’s energy and spirit. The real idea is to propose a line of jewels young, fresh and eye-catching for the Millenials. The proof is that the face of the new campaign is Lady Gaga. However, it is probable that jewels are more appreciated for what they are, a collection that can be easily worn, even to go to the office or to shop. Street style, in short, but obviously delicately sophisticated. To widen the audience of Maison enthusiasts on the Fifth Road and her potential customers, the jewels are available in two versions: in yellow, pink or silver. Same design, prices of course very different.
The design is very modern, almost industrial suggests Tiffany. The Link chain is characterized by simple and clean lines: the yellow gold chain necklace is created with scaled elements with a special retractable closure. The earrings are triple drops or, better, with three spheres held together by two small chains. There is also a single sphere model. Add to the bracelet a padlock and a small detachable ball. Prices: The bracelet costs 8,200 euros in the gold version, only 1,150 euros in silver. The three-ball earrings cost 3150 in the gold version and 580 euros in the silver version. The random encounters sometimes turn into love meetings, those that celebrate Valentine’s Day and then maybe go on for a long time. Messika, a name that translates as diamonds. Valérie Messika, is the designer who in Paris continues her father’s tradition, most linked to the precious, brilliant, exclusive precious stone.
At Baselworld 2017, Messika presented a new exceptional collection of unique, fine jewelry, which she describes as “modern and emancipated, inspired by the irresistible charm of the festive Paris of the twenties.”
A period of history, the one from 1919 to 1929, the “Roaring Twenties,” which is also remembered for the changes culturally and socially, but also for the way of life, especially for women. “They mark the advent of modernity,” says Valerie.
Isadora
The jewels line has so called to tribute to a woman who has marked the time. As Isadora Duncan, the dancer and choreographer who invented modern dance. She has dedicated to her an extraordinary necklace, which required 600 hours of work for the construction. It is composed of 139 diamonds with pear cut for over 42 carats. The Isadora necklace is accompanied by a cuff, with a cascade of increasingly pear cut diamonds for 13.50 carats, and asymmetrical earrings.

Elegant as Ritzy line by Messika: a necklace with 89 diamonds, this time with emerald cut, which looks as a round neck with tie. And then earrings, and a toi & moi ring.
Swinging Paris
The Swing is not just a musical rhythm, but also that of the Roaring Twenties. Messika remembers them with a cascade of 127 diamonds oval cut and others 2,407 diamonds gathered on a necklace. The realization of this piece of fine jewelry has required more than 1,200 hours of work, even for the accuracy with which they were chosen stones. The largest, mounted as a pendant, it has a weight of 3.26 carats. The mount is almost invisible, a truly outstanding job. The set consists also a toi & moi ring, always with oval cut diamonds, and a pair of asymmetrical earrings, even those with oval diamonds.
Flappers
The line has a chocker and a pair of earrings with a very Art Deco design with well marked geometric lines. It is called Prima the new Fope line based on the proven and renewed soft gold mesh system Flex’it.
Fope Launches New Flex’it mesh with Prima collection. Flex’it was invented and patented by Fope signed in 2007, but the new proposal has taken two years of investment and experimentation. The sets of Flex’it lines, rose gold, white or yellow, including necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets, all flexible, with a special metal processing that allows you to adjust the size of the jewel to the body surface. As with before, the mesh is thin and light, yet durable and able to hide dozens of tiny springs 18 carat gold which are those make so flexible bracelets and rings. The sets offer different combinations of elliptical rondelline and details in gold and diamonds. Prices: rings without diamonds start at 1200 Euros. For the ring with pavé you get 1900 euros. The new series of Ottovolante (roller-coaster) necklace by Vhernier in two different combinations ♦
The roller-coaster aims to scare those who get on the carriages that go up and then come down very fast down on the rails of the classic fairground attraction. But for someone the palpitations are evoked more philosophical way, knocking over horizontally the number, which becomes the conventional sign to indicate infinity. Now the collection returns for 2017 with some new features: two rings in solidarity, real estate, which are a first for the brand, and a proposal chain in two versions: long or choker. The new Signature line by Sutra and the Feather collection: high quality jewelry, but relatively more affordable ♦
Sutra is a word that in the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, means “collection of sacred verses.” But, more then a spiritual significance, Sutra is also a great Maison of jewelery. Born in Mumbai, India, it is transmigrated in the US, but continues to work gems and jewels in the country of origin. The designer Arpita Navlakha, in any case, more than the etymological origin of the name, mind creating rich jewels, filled with high quality gemstones, with pieces of fine jewelry and necklaces that exceed one million dollars.
Jewels that hit the sign and evoke wonder. But they are not for everyone. So at Baselworld 2017 Sutra has introduced a new line, Sutra Signature, which combines a high quality jewelry at the most relatively affordable prices. The Flexibile Feather collection, for example, is placed in this price range: as its name indicates, presenting jewelry in the shape of gold feathers and small diamonds. They are always jewelry with great complexity of realization, but in a lower cost range. A pair of earrings, for example, costs 7000 US dollars, while the necklace comes in at $ 40,000. It’s much, in front of a lot of fine jewelry, but little when you consider the setting. The necklace, for example, is made up of 15 carat diamond. The jewelry is available in white gold, black, pink or yellow.
