L&rsquo;histoire de cette pierre exceptionnelle a commenc\u00e9 en 1958, lorsque Harry Winston a achet\u00e9 ce qu&rsquo;on appelait alors le diamant Louis XIV appartenant \u00e0 Thelma Chrysler Foy, fille de Walter Chrysler, un entrepreneur automobile qui a \u00e9galement donn\u00e9 son nom au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre gratte-ciel Art D\u00e9co dans New York. Serti pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans un diad\u00e8me et expos\u00e9 au mus\u00e9e du Louvre (1962), le diamant a \u00e9t\u00e9 vendu par Winston en 1963, avec un diamant de 61,80 carats, \u00e0 Eleanor Loder. Le propri\u00e9taire actuel a acquis la paire de pierres pr\u00e9cieuses en 1983: maintenant les diamants sont appel\u00e9s les G\u00e9meaux et inclus dans Notable Diamonds of the World.
