Le designer a une histoire \u00e0 raconter. Il est n\u00e9 en 1940 \u00e0 Dassau, dans ce qui \u00e9tait l&rsquo;Allemagne de l&rsquo;Est. D\u00e8s son plus jeune \u00e2ge, son aptitude pour le design a \u00e9merg\u00e9, \u00e0 la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre \u00e9cole du Bauhaus, et \u00e0 15 ans il a travaill\u00e9 comme apprenti chez l&rsquo;un des plus grands orf\u00e8vres de Dessau. Sa sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 sont les pi\u00e8ces uniques et insolites. Au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1970, ses cr\u00e9ations \u00e9taient inspir\u00e9es de l&rsquo;Op Art, mais Hornemann utilisait \u00e9galement des mat\u00e9riaux autres que des bijoux tels que des pi\u00e8ces de monnaie anciennes, des croix byzantines, des ic\u00f4nes russes et des pi\u00e8ces d&rsquo;\u00e9p\u00e9e japonaises. Des bijoux, le design du cr\u00e9ateur allemand s&rsquo;est ensuite d\u00e9plac\u00e9 vers des articles m\u00e9nagers en argent et en fer, des bols et des chandeliers. Il travaille les pierres pr\u00e9cieuses et l&rsquo;or, l&rsquo;argent, le platine, le bronze et le fer, mais aussi le corian ou l&rsquo;acrylique. Les motifs de la flore et de la faune sont centraux, il simplifie et r\u00e9sume les formes naturelles et met l&rsquo;accent sur l&rsquo;ornementale.
